Body Camera Footage Shows Paul Pelosi Hammer Attack

Body Camera Footage Shows Paul Pelosi Hammer Attack

“The footage, released Friday, shows officers approach Paul and Nancy’s home. Paul opens the door, standing next to his attacker, both men have their hands on the hammer in an effort to control it.”

The San Francisco Police released the body cam footage of the hammer attack on Paul Pelosi:

PAUL PELOSI: “Hi, guys.”
POLICE OFFICER 2: “How you doing?”
PAUL PELOSI: “How are you?”
POLICE OFFICER 2: “What’s going on, man?”
DEPAPE: “Everything’s good.”
PAUL PELOSI: “Hi.”
POLICE OFFICER: “Dropp [sic] the hammer!”
DEPAPE: “Um, nope.”

Then the attack happens:

The footage, released Friday, shows officers approach Paul and Nancy’s home. Paul opens the door, standing next to his attacker, both men have their hands on the hammer in an effort to control it.

The attacker breaks away, holding the hammer, and immediately strikes Paul in the head with the weapon. Both men fall to the ground as police move into the house and take the attacker into custody. Paul is totally out cold from the impact.

The attack does not completely match up with the NBC report released after the attack. Pelosi did not leave immediately because he held the hammer with DePape. It looks like he’s trying to take it away from him. Plus it’s DePape who told the police that everything is good. I’m wondering if Pelosi was in a state of shock and tried not to do anything to cause DePape to rage, which could explain his calm manner and the cryptic 911 call.

David Depape faces federal charges of assault, attempted homicide, and attempted kidnapping. Stacey wrote:

DePape was reportedly looking for the House Speaker when he broke in, intending to hold her hostage until she admitted the “truth” – and if not, he would break “her kneecaps.” He had a “history of drug use, psychosis, and homelessness,” and political leanings all over the map. He once expressed support for the Black Lives Matter movement and gay rights, while allegedly posting conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election.

But overall…the footage doesn’t answer many questions.

Was Pelosi snoring?

That exchange is just so odd. I don’t understand why Pelosi is not raising the alarm when he answers the door.

    EXACTLY! I’m still so confused,

I am a little confused as well. They say Depape supported the Black Lives Matter movement and gay rights, And at the same time was an avid MAGA white supremacist. It’s problably all the lies that make it confusing.

henrybowman in reply to Paula. | January 28, 2023 at 2:00 am

He was an illegal Canadian alien who spent much of his life naked and high on weird types of dope, and living in a vehicle. Pretty sure he didn’t have so much as a red ballcap.

NotCoach in reply to Mary Chastain. | January 27, 2023 at 3:00 pm

After listening to the 911 call I think Pelosi was maybe drunk, and THAT may explain a lot. In his 911 call he doesn’t sound all there, and he is holding a drink when he answers the door.

gonzotx in reply to NotCoach. | January 27, 2023 at 6:52 pm

        911 call sounded to
Me that he was trying to stay calm because he didn’t want to excite the homicidal manic who broke into his house and was standing next to him. You can hear him on the call.
        There is video of him
        Breaking in the back.
If you ever had to keep your cool with an insane person you know he was doing a good job.
I had to, my life was in eminent danger, had already been raped and knifed so I play acted the role of a lifetime to
Save my life. I think Paul was doing that too. We know he has a drinking problem but don’t know if that’s what is in that glass.

gonzotx in reply to NotCoach. | January 27, 2023 at 2:43 pm

I think he was trying to stay calm because he knew the guy was off his rocker and unpredictable and violent

    And he was right

gonzotx in reply to NotCoach. | January 27, 2023 at 2:58 pm

The perp also had Paul’s hand in a grip so he couldn’t just run out

jhkrischel in reply to NotCoach. | January 27, 2023 at 6:20 pm

The snoring sound is from the severe head trauma. He’s likely swimming in blood at that point too.

Char Char Binks in reply to NotCoach. | January 27, 2023 at 7:37 pm

And he could speak freely, because obviously DePape wasn’t going to hit him with a hammer.

    diver64 in reply to NotCoach. | January 28, 2023 at 4:48 am

Pelosi looks like he is on something like Ambian. Very odd way to act considering facing 2 police officers considering that the guy behind you just smashed into your house with a hammer. Speculation but is the reason Pelosi is not that alarmed may be because they know each other from somewhere and Pelosi had no idea the guy was unhinged enough to find out where he lived? The husband of the woman 3rd in line to the Presidency much less Nancy live in a house with a glass door someone can break into with a rock??? My house is better secured than that and I don’t even have a $25,000 refrigerator

Was that an assault hammer? /s

That was a very interesting scene. Looked like a domestic quarrel in some respects. Many questions remain unanswered.

Nancy’s Gavel wielded to force the People, and “our [unPlanned] Posterity”, to take a knee…

henrybowman in reply to CommoChief. | January 27, 2023 at 2:18 pm

However, DePape clearly had all his clothes on and wasn’t (as ambiguously reported) in his BVDs. Pelosi was barefoot and possibly in boxers, like he was sleeping and threw a shirt on.
A rare loss this season for right-wing conspiracy theorists!

CommoChief in reply to henrybowman. | January 27, 2023 at 3:00 pm

Agreed. Pelosi was very clearly not comfortable with the presence of hammer dude. One question is how did that dude gain entry without a bigger ruckus of alarms or noise of forced entry? Upscale place so those sorts of sounds would be out of the ordinary. Was that 911 call the only police notification? If so how did dude get in? Was he granted access by Pelosi? Did he have a key? Some random stranger with a hammer knocked on the door and he Pelosi lets him in? Not buying it. We can’t know what, if any, relationship with hammer dude exists if they don’t come clean. Refusing comments and the delayed drip, drip release of info feeds all sorts of theories.

      diver64 in reply to henrybowman. | January 28, 2023 at 4:50 am

Which could have been avoided if they had just released this footage a few months ago. Almost like someone wanted the controversy and speculation.

Well, at least we know the one description of events that the victim let the cops in and then calmly walked back towards the perp was inaccurate.

Questions still be answered….,
Did the victim and perp have history?
Who let the perp in and why?
Where did the hammer come from?
HTH did they end up both holding the hammer?
Why did the perp want to assault with the hammer?
If he intended that, why did he let Paul open the door to the cops?
Why were the both, especially Paul, so calm when the door was opened?
Based on those last two, they’re acting like brawlers interrupted by the cops who both have something to hide so they both try to play it off.
The perp could be hiding intent to assault, what is Paul hiding?

Inquiring Minds still want to know.

henrybowman in reply to BobM. | January 27, 2023 at 1:56 pm

Clearly, they were vying for possession of the hammer from the moment the police opened the door, which makes more sense than walking back into the assailant’s range. this video answers a lot of questions.

And yeah, it’s quite possible Pelosi was snoring. If he was unconscious but breathing, and an apnea sufferer, he’s just going to snore in certain positions, that’s all there is to it.

I guess apnea is in the news this week. Another report I read a couple days ago was that Epstein’s first medical examiner ruled that someone had strangled him with the power cord to his own CPAP machine.

NotCoach in reply to henrybowman. | January 27, 2023 at 2:01 pm

I didn’t ask the snoring question in doubt of his conscious state. He clearly was knocked out cold. But I heard what sounded like snoring and wondered if anyone else heard that.

henrybowman in reply to BobM. | January 27, 2023 at 2:20 pm

“Did the victim and perp have history?”
Didn’t hear any mention of “my friend, David.” I guess that was from the 911 call.

Isn’t the speaker of the house one of those line of succession positions within five heartbeats of the Presidency?
You would think a little better security would be in order**cough cough docs in garage cough cough**

Nancy was pathological, studied heretical
Science in the home
Late nights all alone with a test-tube, ohh uh oh oh
Maxwell Edison majoring in medicine
Calls her on the phone
“Can I take you out to the pictures, Nancy?”
But as she’s getting ready to go
A knock comes on the door
Bang, bang, Maxwell’s silver hammer
Came down upon her head
Bang, bang, Maxwell’s silver hammer
Made sure that she was dead

BobM: Who let the perp in and why?
Where did the hammer come from?

The perpetrator broke in through a glass window, presumably, using the same hammer for the assault.

We may not respond to replies as we are usually shadow-banned on Legal Insurrection.

OK. Now release the surveillance footage of the guy entering the house.

This thing is still being stage-managed by the Dems PR machine.

NotCoach in reply to Gosport. | January 27, 2023 at 1:52 pm

Perhaps, but after watching the video I suspect that San Fran PD was also doing some arse covering by being reluctant to release the video. I don’t think these officers did anything wrong, but Pelosi was still struck right in front of them. They would naturally be defensive on this point.

henrybowman in reply to NotCoach. | January 27, 2023 at 2:00 pm

Plus the obligatory exchange between the cops of “This is XYZ Main Street, right?” “No, XWZ.” wasn’t embarrassing at all. The only thing more hackneyed would have been doing a dynamic entry into a donut shop.

lexi in reply to Gosport. | January 27, 2023 at 3:17 pm

It has been released and shows Depape breaking in through a glass door with what I presume is the hammer. I cannot understand how there was zero home security system in place. Is it really that easy to gain access to the residence of a member of Congress, not to mention the 2nd in line to the WH? Even if she is not in residence shouldn’t her house have security??

henrybowman in reply to lexi. | January 28, 2023 at 2:06 am

Actually, there was a very good security system in the place, but the sensor for that particular door was being weighed down by a huge box of classified documents.

Milhouse in reply to Gosport. | January 29, 2023 at 12:15 am

    They did.

What was the problem? Nancy Pelosi said it was a supernatural problem— Supernatural forces were out of control. She has since called a Priest to come and perform exorcism.

This information was provided by Pelosi’s daughter, Alexandra, to The New York Times. (catholicnewsagency.com)

henrybowman in reply to Paula. | January 27, 2023 at 2:06 pm

Babylon Bee this week had a headline about “After Priest Exorcises All Demons From Her Home, Pelosi Becomes A Republican.” I thought the exorcism was just part of the joke.

henrybowman in reply to Paula. | January 27, 2023 at 2:11 pm

Which brings up another interesting point. Isn’t Pelosi on the Catholic Church’s “do not serve” list?

Priests in confession are famous for “no absolution until you put things right with your victim.”
Wonder if that extends to exorcisms?
“Who do you think invited those demons in, Nancy? You have to WANT to get better…”

Looks to me like Pelosi broke away, hoping the cops would take over.

My main takeaway is that the whole scenario is…just weird. I also don’t have a lot of experience with people in extreme situations. Is this normal and I am just ignorant? I simply don’t know what to make of it.

Because it’s normal to walk around in your boxers with a drink when you have a home invasion going on. Like I said grindr hookup gone wrong

Looks to me like he knows the guy who was obviously disgruntled, tried to talk him into turning himself in, and the guy flipped a switch when confronted by cops.

healthguyfsu in reply to healthguyfsu. | January 27, 2023 at 3:32 pm

Also he’s clearly not drunk to the point of impairment on the call and quite cogent. He’s trying to subtly get help without angering this guy. Mentioning the capital police was actually a clever way to emphasize who he is without raising much suspicion because the guy was there to “talk to Nancy” and mentioning them makes it sound like he’s trying to get a hold of her, which is probably the pretext he used to make the call in front of crazy guy.

Things in the video that don’t really matter.

The sidelight and transom french window mullions are all masked off with blue painters tape.

End things that don’t really matter.

In one scene at the door, Pelosi is holding a glass in his left hand. This means that at one point he was free enough to get a glass out of the cabinet and fill it with some liquid. In the video of Pape breaking into the glass door, it takes him quite a while to get through it and he does it with no hurry or tension. All of the time hammering away at the glass. Where was the security? I think this does debunk the gay theory but it also opens up many more questions.

For all the strangeness, bad reporting, and unanswered questions, there’s one important fact about this case that jumps out at me: I don’t care.

E Howard Hunt | January 27, 2023 at 5:29 pm

Let’s not forget that another old queen’s highly protected bed chamber was entered by a nutcase – Queen Elizabeth the second.

How did the door magically open?

Pelosi had a drink in his left hand, and a hammer in his right. Depape had both hands on Pelosi.

Automatic door?

Antifundamentalist | January 27, 2023 at 10:02 pm

It sounded like Pelosi was trying to ask for help without asking for help, you know, because a strange man is in his house saying he’s going to stay there and wait for his wife. The stranger doesn’t have a problem, but He has a problem…. and the dispatcher tells him to “call back if he changes his mind!!!” Oh, lordy! She should have been sending out police when he said “I have a problem.”

The biggest surprise to me is that MaligNancy was number 3 in the line of succession and had no security. WtF?
Much as I don’t like her it seems stupid not have the person in that position getting some security. Even if it’s only a pair of cops watching the front and rear doors.

Why was he holding a beverage in his hand? So odd. You would think he would want his other hand free

I have to wonder why both footages were not released earlier also. Seems fairly straightforward.
1. Nutcase breaks in through back door with hammer. Elderly man on sleeping pills doesn’t hear until he opens bedroom door and scares the heck out of him. Alarm doesn’t go off.
2. Pelosi fast talks the nutcase into letting him use the bathroom (and call the cops), as well as getting a drink while nutcase raves.
3. Doorbell rings. Thank God, it’s the cops. Pelosi moves carefully not to disturb the disturbed individual.
4. Opens the door, then grabs the hammer so nutcase doesn’t do something stupid. (but stays to one side just in case the cops open up on the nutcase) Make happy noises while waiting for the cops to catch on and arrest nutcase.
5. Elderly man with sleeping pills and possibly a drink in him is unable to keep younger strong man from getting control of the hammer. Smack!
6. Cops arrest nutcase, take him to jail, get Pelosi to hospital.
7. Let the media circus begin. Blame for the alarm failure gets pushed, etc…
