Ronna McDaniel Overwhelmingly Rejected for RNC Chair in Turning Point USA AmericaFest Straw Poll

The battle for control of the Republican National Committee continues just weeks before RNC members are set to elect the chair by secret ballot at their annual meeting. Ronna McDaniel is seeking another term but is facing multiple challenges in the face of some controversy.
The conservative youth group Turning Point USA just held an event called AmericaFest and conducted a straw poll over RNC leadership. Participants overwhelmingly rejected Ronna McDaniel.

Participants of Turning Point Action’s AmericaFest 2022 straw poll overwhelmingly voted for a change in leadership of the Republican National Committee, as the majority of respondents called for GOP lawyer Harmeet Dhillion to replace Ronna McDaniel as party chair.
Turning Point Action conducted a straw poll on Dec. 19, which polled 1,150 participants. The straw poll came after members of Turning Point Action’s leadership endorsed Dhillon in her bid for GOP chair.
According to the results, shared exclusively with Fox News Digital, 65% of respondents “strongly disapprove” of the job McDaniel is doing leading the RNC, and just 1.6% of respondents said they “strongly approve.”
Participants were then polled on who they believe should run the party, giving the options of McDaniel, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell or Harmeet Dhillon, CEO of the Center for American Liberty and co-chair of the Republican National Lawyers Association.
The poll results said 57.6% voted in favor of Dhillon taking over the chairmanship of the RNC, 31% voted for Lindell, 1.7% voted for McDaniel, and 9.7% said they are “unsure” or have “no opinion.”
Got that? Mike Lindell of MyPillow has more support for the RNC chair than McDaniel. What McDaniel has is the support of the establishment.

Four Republican National Committee (RNC) finance chairmen have endorsed Ronna McDaniel’s bid to stay on as party chairwoman, defending her fundraising track record and relationships with donors as she seeks to fend off a leadership challenge.
Duke Buchan III, the current finance chair, and former finance chairs Todd Ricketts, Ray Washburne and Ron Weiser wrote to the 168 RNC members to express their support for McDaniel, according to letters obtained by The Hill.
The letters highlight McDaniel’s relationships with RNC donors and her efforts during her six years as chairwoman to build a fundraising infrastructure. McDaniel is seeking a fourth term as chairwoman, but she has faced criticism from the right over the party’s election performance and its spending.
Mark Levin is more in touch with conservative grassroots than financial officials at the RNC and has clarified his position.

You have to understand that to the GOPe, the wishes and opinions of party members or the general public mean bupkis compared to monetary, family, and financial connections to those in power. McDaniels can exit in comfort, knowing the other two McLosers remain in power to destroy America by their treachery and incompetence: McConnell and McCarthy.
Either way, both McConnell and McCarthy are probably so compromised by corruption, they’re too deep to ever get out of the muck.

Sure they’d rather not offer up someone but if they don’t then they are risking consequences. Small donors also volunteer and vote. If they get PO enough then they stop donations and volunteering. If they get really PO they stay home and don’t vote. All three of those risk far more people than McDaniel losing their phoney baloney jobs.

I actually suggested co chairs… Maybe that is not possible.. but in my mind, it would bring the base back in the picture.. I have very high regard for Harmeet, but she was endorsed by some of the elites there in DC.. I think it would definitely cause splodey heads…

Gotta call it something else but sure you can try creating a new political party. There are incredibly difficult headwinds though. The main one is ballot access. Most States require a bunch of signatures to be on the ballot at all which is much easier for an established party organization to provide.
Once on the ballot the candidates gotta get a % usually 5% in a statewide election to retain automatic ballot access. You’ve probably seen the signature drive for the Green party in TX over the last several years. Libertarians have had ballot access in TX for a couple decades.
Libertarians had it in Arizona until about five years ago, when the Republicans valved it off hard by requiring nomination petition signature counts based on percentage of votes cast in general, rather than percentage of votes cast for Libertarian candidates.
If Trump formed a third party, it’d be giant in a very short time.

See, I don’t see that. The Rs and Ds are more or less balanced these days. Start up a true conservative party, you’ll draw entirely from the Rs, giving the Ds an easy majority until the RINOs collapsed. Don’t expect them to die as conveniently as the Whigs did.

Gonna have to create it from scratch and get a new name. Unless ordinary people are willing to do the very difficult work to reform the RNC from the bottom up. That’s a bigger commitment than most folks are willing to sign up to do.
It means finding trustworthy people to run for precinct Capt to County Chairs to State Party officials. Then everyone else has to provide the support they need to win against the establishment candidates for those party offices. Multi year effort required, lots of time, effort and money for a cause that may fail.
It can be done but most r voters aren’t interested in putting forth the effort required. They would rather moan about how bad things are and hope a white knight is coming to save them. No one is coming and no one is going to do it for us.
Whether reform of the existing r party or building a brand new party out of the ashes of a destroyed r party most people simply don’t want it bad enough to do the very heavy lifting required to see it done. Very sad but very true. People lose interest, give up entirely, betray their commitment or abandon the party. That is in large part why the establishment prevails, they outlast the reformers who are too often eventually abandoned by the bulk of the registered r.

Existing GOPes MAY join us, but only after severe vetting.
Better still, make the Dems split into multiple parties, like the Socialists and the Liberal wing.

The d/prog tribal fissures are already under strain. There’s only so many elected and appointed positions and each tribe wants what they perceive as their fair share. Not enough to go around.
Look at academia; lots of boomer age white progressives/liberals with tenure. The younger faculty is way more ‘diverse’. The younger gen x and gen z want to be department chair and Deans but old white liberals are in those seats for the most part.
So when a seat becomes vacant who gets it? Another white guy, nah. Do they choose the LGBT black female or the progressive Hispanic? How about an Asian? Don’t forget religious minorities. The same tension exists in govt positions. IMO, the d/prog coalition will tear itself apart as the members compete by tribe against each other.

Look at CA. The tension between the competing tribes for which tribe would have their member be appointed Senator to replace Harris. IMO, the bad blood that created is one reason DiFi hasn’t resigned; it would require Newsome to choose again and risk PO one or more of the tribes.
The LA Council drama shows this tension. The recent insanity with a proposal for reparations is gonna end badly. CA wasn’t a slave State as part of the US. The native tribes, some of who’s descendents live in CA were actually effed over in CA, first by the Spanish then by the Anglos who effed over the Mexicans who had effed over Spain.
Every tribe has effed over another tribe at some point, some tribes more than others and holding a diversity olympics to try and figure it out is gonna open old wounds best left alone. No tribe will be satisfied and all tribes will be PO over the result and have a new excuse to bitch about.
That crap is part of the d/prog DNA and having created a cobbled together coalition of tribal grievance hustlers they can’t expect to reward one tribe and it go in remarked by the other tribes who want their cut of the pie. The problem is there isn’t a big enough pie but the d/prog raised expectations and now won’t be able to deliver on the expectations they stupidly created.
Chief, I don’t disagree that there’s significant tension between the tribes, but the Dems always seem to find a way to split up the loot to keep everybody in their teepees, if not satisfied with their spot on the totem pole.

Only one person can be appointed Senator if DiFi didn’t finish her term. The reparations boondoggle will be a fiasco. There’s not enough $ to pay for it and it’s limited to one tribe.
There’s a bigger issue that is bubbling up. Latinos v Black within the d/prog coalition. Lots of Blacks have been loyal soldiers waiting their turn to get the patronage job or political office. Latinos are a much bigger % of the population and want their cut.
Both tribes can’t get what they believe is their due. Add in Asians to that mix. Add in the LGBT tribe. Add women v men tribes. Then add in the hurt egos and ill will from the normal rough and tumble of politics. See the LA Council for examples.
IMO, the d/prog coalition is unsustainable. They can’t hold together a coalition based on tribal grievances where each tribe demands their cut of the pie. There isn’t enough pie to give each tribe the portion the tribes demand.
Ds are hivers. The only way to split a hive is to generate a competing queen. And the workers take care not to cultivate new queens unless the incumbent is failing.
(This is where the analogy breaks down, as the Ds have discovered how to continue to operate a hive with a moribund queen.)

He’s already taking shots at DeSantis, implying that the Florida election was tainted. It doesn’t matter which candidate he personally prefers, the job is to support the candidates the party membership selects, not put his thumb on the scales. IF Trump were the acclaimed 2024 candidate, then there might be some argument for putting a cultist in the RNC job, but that is clearly not the current situation.
