Netanyahu Returns as Prime Minister While Media Throws Hissy Fit Over Israel’s “Most Right-Wing” Government

Netanyahu Returns as Prime Minister While Media Throws Hissy Fit Over Israel’s “Most Right-Wing” Government

“Confidence in the government was confirmed by 63 of the 64 coalition members, constituting a relatively solid and cohesive majority in the 120-seat Knesset.”

After eighteen months and three elections, Benjamin Netanyahu has returned as Israel’s prime minister. On Thursday, Netanyahu and his government was shown in after proving a majority in the parliament.

Netanyahu’s Likud party had won 32 seats in last month’s election, and after weeks of negotiations succeeded in getting the support from other right-wing parties to secure 63 seats in the 120-seat Knesset.

“After over a year in opposition, Netanyahu (73) secured a comeback in the latest election, the nation’s fifth in less than four years, to extend his record-setting tenure as prime Minister,” the Israeli news website Ynet noted.

The Times of Israel reported:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu swore in Israel’s 37th government on Thursday, promising that his right-religious coalition will deliver political stability after five bumpy back-to-back elections since 2019.

Confidence in the government was confirmed by 63 of the 64 coalition members, constituting a relatively solid and cohesive majority in the 120-seat Knesset.

Speaking to the Knesset plenum before the vote of confidence, Netanyahu presented three top priorities for his new government: stopping Iran’s nuclear program, developing state infrastructure — with an emphasis on connecting the so-called periphery to the center of the country — and restoring internal security and governance.

Prime Minister Netanyahu returns to power amid surge in terrorist attacks aimed at Israel largely directed from Palestinian-controlled Gaza and the West Bank. “The new government is determined to restore … quiet and personal security to the citizens of Israel,” he assured the parliament before his swearing in.

The Israeli TV channel i24News reported the composition of the news ministerial cabinet:

Ex-military general and senior party member, Yoav Galant, was tapped as defense minister. Haim Katz will serve as tourism minister, Yoav Kisch as education minister, Avi Dichter will take the role of agriculture minister and Shlomo Karhi as communications minister.

After much speculation, it was announced shortly before Netanyahu took the podium on Thursday that Likud member Eli Cohen would be the next foreign minister, replacing outgoing prime minister Yair Lapid. According to Hebrew media reports, Cohen may rotate with fellow Likud member Israel Katz after two years. If not, Cohen will hold the position for the duration of the government.

Mainstream Media Has Hissy Fit Over Israel’s “Most Right-Wing” Government

Hearing the news of Netanyahu’s return, the mainstream media had a big hissy fit over his choice of right-wing coalitions partners. In an attempt to discredit the incoming Netanyahu-led coalition, it has repeatedly been described in the media as the “most right-wing government in country’s history” comprising of “Jewish ultranationalist and religious parties.”

“Netanyahu’s right-wing coalition will likely test ties with the United States and Europe, amid fears that it will undermine the country’s democracy and stability,” The New York Times hoped.

Media highlighted the opposition-led leftwing “resistance” to Israel’s new democratically elected government.

“Far-right Israeli government sworn in amid surge of resistance,” The Washington Post reported. Netanyahu was “launching a divisive chapter of national politics that pits newly influential ultrareligious, ultranationalist leaders against an opposition that warns democracy is in peril,” the newspaper lamented.

Germany’s state-run TV Tagesschau covered the developments in the Jewish State with the headline: “The New Government That Also Causes Fear.”

“The Israeli parliament has confirmed the new, ultra-right government of long-time Prime
Minister Netanyahu. The opposition is greatly worried,” the German state news outlet sobbed.

The globalist media fears that the news government in Jerusalem could defend and strengthen the rights of Jews living in Judea and Samaria, or West Bank.

“Netanyahu’s cabinet has promised to expand illegal settlements in occupied West Bank and pursue other anti-Palestinian policies,” Qatar’s state-controlled Al Jazeera TV channel complained Thursday. “Hardline coalition vows to legalise dozens of illegally built outposts and annex the occupied territory,” the left-wing British newspaper The Guardian echoed.

The Biden White House appears to shares media’s hostility and is set to take an adversarial stance towards Israel’s next government.

“President Joe Biden and his aides have a plan for how to deal with the far-right, anti-Palestinian tilt of the incoming Israeli government: make it all about Benjamin Netanyahu,” the Politico reported December 20. “The Biden administration will hold the presumptive Israeli prime minister personally responsible for the actions of his more extreme cabinet members, especially if they lead to policies that endanger a future Palestinian state (…),” the news outlet noted.

PLO-led Palestinian Authority, Hamas Renew Threats Against Israel

The Biden administration and the globalist media outlets are not alone in their hysertia and hostility towards Israel. The PLO-run Palestinian Authority (PA) and Gaza-based terrorist group Hamas renewed their threats against the Jewish State as Netanyahu returns to office.

The Jerusalem Post reported:

“The threats of the occupation and its new extreme right-wing government will not frighten us,” PA Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said at the rally. “We affirm that we will remain steadfast until the Palestinian state is established and until victory.”

Shtayyeh said Fatah will remain “loyal to the martyrs and prisoners, its founders and our people.” He urged Palestinians to pursue the “popular resistance” against Israel. (…)

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said the Palestinians will confront the new Israeli government through “resistance and unity.” He too said the Palestinians were not afraid of “threats’ made by members of the new Israeli government.

He’s secured 64 seats. One member must have been absent. I believe there is one member who’s at a family event in London, and had offered to fly in for the vote if he was needed and fly straight back, but with 63 votes in hand I assume Netanyahu told him he wasn’t needed.

I love BiBi, wish he was sitting in the WH right now

Not sure why you received any down-votes. Netanyahu is a capable leader who defends his people against innumerable threats, without equivocation or apologies. The Dhimmi-crats’ hatred of him isn’t merely a reflection of their rabid Jew-hate and dhimmitude — it’s a reflection of their shallowness, because they know Netanyahu is a real leader who’s been forged through personal adversity and challenges. It’s why narcissist-incompetent, Obama, evinced such childish hostility and insecurity towards Netanyahu and why he was so belligerent towards him, both in-person, and, behind his back.

I suspect there is a lot of envy from Democrats that drives their hatred of bibi. Barry couldn’t stand him, Biden has no idea who he is, Democrats hate him with a passion.

The down votes are because Netanyahu loves his country and is willing to defend it against all including the terrorists next door unlike the globalists that hate the very idea of a nation state and Jews in general.

What? Do you think Brandon would soil himself serving in the military of the US and actually put his exalted self in peril? He is much too valuable for that, let the peons serve. That is, if they have taken the gene therapy “vaccine”.

Hearing the news of Netanyahu’s return, the mainstream media had a big hissy fit . . .
===

Well one thing is sure, if the liberal leftist media is having a hissy fit over Netanyahu’s return and coalition government then he’s doing something right. I’d be worried if the liberal leftist media were silent on the whole situation.

The thing is, he’s having a private hissy fit too. This is not the government that he wanted. This is a government that will make him actually carry out reasonable (i.e. “extreme far-right”) policies. That is the last thing he wants to do. He’s a squish. He’s Linsday Graham. Talks a good talk, but always, always caves in to pressure, both from the USA and from the Israeli legal establishment, which is a fully-owned subsidiary of the left. Especially now, with his corruption trial in progress, he doesn’t want to piss the legal establishment off more than he has to. So he was hoping for Gantz to make a last-minute gesture, in the name of rescuing the country from the “extremists”, and form an alternative coalition.

Gantz is a pure leftist who manages to portray himself as moderate, so a unity government with him would be like Netanyahu’s last government, more left than right. But Gantz couldn’t bring himself to do it, so Netanyahu is stuck with his “extremist” government.

I hope it lasts, because the left is going to pull every trick it can to bring it down. The supreme court is going to fight it tooth and nail, and Netanyahu has never shown any appetite for confronting it. But it will have to be done, and we will see how he handles that.

Meanwhile this “extreme right-wing homophobic racist” government has elected Amir Ohana as the first openly gay Knesset speaker. Ohana is a decent guy, a solid right-winger, and one of those committed to taking on the legal establishment and taking the supreme court down a notch. The left hated him when he was Justice Minister (i.e. Attorney General in English terms, but for some reason I cannot fathom, when talking about Israel that English term is used for a career civil servant who’s more like the Solicitor General, but with dictatorial powers to override any government decision she doesn’t like; this was one of the things Ohana wanted to change.)

      Your really misinformed

Milhouse in reply to gonzotx. | December 29, 2022 at 10:27 pm

Srsly?! What the **** do you know about Israeli politics? Had you even heard of Amir Ohana before I mentioned him? Do you know one thing about Benny Gantz, or Dudi Amsalem, or why Netanyahu spent a lot of effort putting together the Smotrich/Ben-Gvir/Maoz coalition before the election? Who gave Hevron away to Arafat in the first place, and what does that say about his character? You don’t even know what it is that you don’t know.

Stuytown in reply to Milhouse. | December 30, 2022 at 8:29 am

I’m really hoping the right wing of his coalition does, in fact, force him to carry out far right wing policies. I don’t pray much. But opening up the Temple Mount to for open Jewish prayer could change that. Maybe I’ll start praying for that.

Eric R. in reply to Milhouse. | December 30, 2022 at 11:04 am

Milhouse, you seem to want a more firmly right-wing government in Israel than in America. Why is that? At least in Israel, even the (Jewish) leftists have served in the military. Our local Communists want to turn the US Armed Forces into a woke killing machine that will be ready to fire on patriotic Americans, as they see US as the only real enemy.

You don’t seem to apologize for the Israeli left. Stop making excuses for the American one.

Milhouse in reply to Eric R.. | January 1, 2023 at 12:14 am

Milhouse, you seem to want a more firmly right-wing government in Israel than in America.

Excuse me? I don’t know where you could possibly have got such an idea.

At least in Israel, even the (Jewish) leftists have served in the military.

Some. What did Lapid do in his so-called “service”? And some used their service to make things worse.

You don’t seem to apologize for the Israeli left. Stop making excuses for the American one.

There’s this thing called truth. You don’t seem to give a **** about it. But I do. If someone is falsely accused of something I will stand up for them and I don’t care where they are on the political map. False accusations are wrong no matter whom they’re aimed at. So are illogical attacks. So show me a false accusations made against an Israeli leftist and I’ll defend them. Off hand I can’t think of one, while false accusations against the Israeli right go all the way back to the Arlozoroff murder.

Italy’s pissed, because they’re holding out their beer and nobody is listening anymore.

Apparently, in similar fashion to progressives here, Lapid refused to shake hands with Netanyahu. There was not a speech transcript to tear up.

There was also an awkward moment for Zev Elkin when he tried to congratulate Amir Ohana, and Ohana either genuinely didn’t see him or pretended not to see him, and turned away. On the video it’s hard to tell. It looks like a snub, but he might really not have seen him.

The vile, morally bankrupt, Jew-hating, Israel-hating media will agitate and vilify Israel’s alleged “right-wing” government, but, these same feckless reprobates will never say a word about the brutality, oppression and suffering inflicted by innumerable Islamic, totalitarian regimes around the world. Priorities.

““The Biden administration will hold the presumptive Israeli prime minister personally responsible for the actions of his more extreme cabinet members, especially if they lead to policies that endanger a future Palestinian state.”

Unbelievable — when did the vile Dhimmi-crats ever hold corrupt terrorists, Yassir Arafat, or, Mahmoud Abbas, to even a scintilla of the same standard, for decades spent inciting terrorist attacks and ginning up hatred against Israeli Jews? The Dhimmi-crats’ slandering of Netanyahu in an attempt to paint him as the alleged “bad guy” in the situation is evil and despicable.

    ––––––––––

Evil, despicable, and utterly predictable response from the democrat party. I’m not surprised.

I heard the same left wing crap when Begin was voted in and he became a peace maker. Then I heard the same left wing crap when Sharon was voted in and he became a peace maker. People on the left have a problem remembering what they had for breakfast.

“Media throws a hissy fit”

The dinosaur media, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democrat party throws a hissy fit. Edited for accuracy.

I simply ignore media, they are dieing anyway. It looks to me like Twitter may well replace them. I was involved in some acquisitions and restructing. We would go in and trim bloated employees, Half or more was common. Noe were as bad as Twitter, Musk has been making all the right moves.

Bibi cannot silence Ha’aaretz or other Kapo leftist Israeli publications, but he can – and should — throw out all the anti-Semitic media outlets from the country – starting with the NY Slimes, the Belsen Broadcasting Corporation, and Communist News Network.

Bibi’s autobiography is a must read How many world leaders today have served in their nation’s armed services or lost a brother in combat ?

I’ll take a President that served. Isn’t G.W.Bush the last one we had? Not a fan of him but he put on the uniform. Someone should ask Brandon why he never served and what makes him qualified to lead our military as CIC

“…ultranationalist leaders against an opposition that warns democracy is in peril,” The Washington Compost must be regurgitating it’s reporting from the midterms but with the dramatic cuts in staff since no-one reads that rag anymore it is understandable.
