California Committee Recommends Over $500 Billion In Racial Reparations

California Committee Recommends Over $500 Billion In Racial Reparations

The total exceeds that for California’s expenditure on civilization-essential services.

https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2017/01/27/california-could-cut-off-feds-in-response-to-trump-threats/

In June, I reported that a California task force on reparations released a report that recommended social justice actions that were supposedly offered to redress that wrongs experienced by black Americans because of state policies.

The panel continues offering disturbing race-based proposals. Now, it is calling for over $200,000 to be sent to each descendant of slaves.

A nine-member Reparations Task Force has estimated that Black Californians could receive more than $223,000 each in reparations for the enduring economic effects of racism and slavery, more than two years on from the murder of George Floyd at the hands of the police.

California has become the first U.S. state to require its agencies to present a separate demographic category for descendants of enslaved people.

The total amount of the proposed distribution, which is derived from the theoretical effects of “housing discrimination, exceeds that for California’s expenditure on civilization-essential services.

A focus of the California task force has been ‘housing discrimination’ – it has been estimated that it would cost around $569billion to compensate the 2.5 million Black Californians for setbacks between 1933 and 1977, according to the New York Times.

That is more than California’s $512.8billion expenditure in 2021 – which included funding for schools, hospitals, universities, highways, policing and corrections.

However, discussions are still underway, and the panel is continuing to consider how payments should be made – some suggested tuition and housing grants while others proposed cash.

The panel has a long list of grievances that it is going to target.

The panel also focused on mass incarceration, devaluation of Black-owned businesses, unjust property seizures, and health care injustice in their examination.

With an estimate in hand, the panel is now considering how the reparations should be paid out.

Some of the members support direct cash payments without strings attached, while others recommended using the funds to pay for tuition and housing grants specifically, according to The Times. The group’s full report will be released next year.

Meanwhile, there are certain practicalities that are being entirely ignored by the reparations committee.

Of course, given the likely career trajectory of Gov. Gavin Newsom, don’t be too sure that this type of insanity is not coming to your state.

My suggestion for CA residents is relocate to another State before:
1. The bill comes due
2. They refuse to do it and that bill comes due from folks who thought they were gonna get nearly $250K

When I looked at the headline the first thing that came to mind was wrap up your affairs, sell your house, start job hunting, and run as fast as possible from California, 2nd, America should build the wall around California, start in the north, drive all illegals to the southern border.

I know that there are decent black people, at the same time I know that there a much larger number of dumb, entitled and often criminal blacks. I am sick of their demands. We should help anyone of reasonable intelligence with decent education and work ethics. We should not be handing the others Cracker Jack degrees and putting up with their piss poor attitudes.

Affirmative Action should be stopped now, it has been perverted into the opposite of what was intended. We need legislation which prevents racial shakedown lawsuits, similar to the way SYG legislation prevents criminals from suing their victims. This shit has to be stopped.

My recommendation is for all black men and women in the US move to Cali, grab the loot and promptly move back out.
Since California recognizes a person being anyone or anything they want with no questions allowed can I identify as a black descended from slaves? Prove I’m not, you racists in Cali Gov.

    JohnSmith100 in reply to CommoChief. | December 4, 2022 at 10:04 am

I would swear that I posted a link to a “black-white Bell Curve” overlay. It seems to have disappeared. It can be found on many web sites with a search. I think that it explains why it has been so difficult to improve black outcomes.

No. Most of the patriots have already left. Those leaving now are just Marxist locusts who would foul the next nest they settled into.

Why is California even dealing with this? It was a free state that not only never had slaves, it never had Jim Crow laws. In fact, it never had a large black population until after WW2.

Pay the Danegeld and reduce yourselves to the status of Territory of the USA.

Apparently, because of racism certain people cannot obtain the ID required to verify six month residency in order to vote. Yet can easily prove 200 years of slavery descent.

Shakedown! Just when you think the absurdities could never increase …

And the grifters’ demands always will.
.

1. Now you see the reason for CRT. It is preparatory to the mindset that will say yes to reparations.

2. In a logical world, if the descendants of slaves deserve reparations, the descendants of slaveowners would pay it.

3. California is not logical. Get out now!

So Newsom is going to have the state give $223,000 each to both Megan Markle and Oprah Winfrey? They are CA residents descended from slaves. $223,000 might cover a month’s worth of routine living expenses for them.

And Maxine Waters, countless black millionaires who make a living playing children’s games, wealthy actors, directors, comedians, singers – both actual and alleged – and rappers.

I wonder how far back the reparations people want to go. It was Africans capturing and enslaving other Africans to sell to Western buyers. These Africans were slaves before they left Africa. Centuries before the Western slave trade, there was Eastern slave trade. Same formula. Africans capturing Africans to sell to buyers from the East.

Start your reparations in Africa…Africans to other Africans because their descendants on both sides can be identified. Family name and country name.

    JohnSmith100 in reply to Whitewall. | December 3, 2022 at 2:43 pm

They should let everyone who thinks they deserve reparations sign up, followed by putting them on cargo ships and shipping them to Africa. America paid for territory for them in Africa, Liberia. They can fight African squatters there for that land.

In fact, there were plans to ship them back when they were freed, hindsight is always better.

      AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to JohnSmith100. | December 3, 2022 at 9:42 pm

Yep. Liberia. A country created by blacks, for blacks (purchased with white supremacy money). When they obtained independence, the immediate result was similar to blacks in the Bronx and Brooklyn fighting for the other’s’ territory.

There is a word for this. Unconstitutional. Blatantly unconstitutional Screaming until it’s hoarse unconstitutional.

C’mon … this is government “by the people.” California voters need to get hit between their eyes with the consequences of electing woke socialists.

jimincalif in reply to Concise. | December 3, 2022 at 4:48 pm

Yes, it’s unconstitutional, but they don’t care. Even if someone tries to challenge it in court, they will probably get tossed out for lack of standing, the courts’ newest way to duck issues.

Edward in reply to Concise. | December 4, 2022 at 10:08 am

    And your point is??

Milhouse in reply to Concise. | December 4, 2022 at 10:09 am

How is it unconstitutional? What section of the California constitution bars its legislature from enacting this proposal?

Re: A focus of the California task force has been ‘housing discrimination’ – it has been estimated that it would cost around $569billion to compensate the 2.5 million Black Californians for setbacks between 1933 and 1977, according to the New York Times.

If the purpose of this program is to compensate those harmed by the State of Californian between 1933 and 1977, then all persons who did not live in California before 1978 should be excluded from the program.

To be fair the descendents would have a claim for property that was unfairly taken by the govt.

      JohnSmith100 in reply to CommoChief. | December 3, 2022 at 2:56 pm

My grandmother was native American, grandfather was from early settlers, he died during the depression leaving her with 6 children, She and a step grandfather were drunks.

In comparison, black slaves were valuable property, they were treated far better than natives.

I am tired of greasing black grifters hands. I started with nothing, I inherited nothing. I studied and worked hard.

In fact, since the 60’s blacks have had opportunity on a platter. If they failed to avail themselves of that opportunity, tough shit.

America does not put up with white losers, we should not put up with black losers either.

        CommoChief in reply to JohnSmith100. | December 3, 2022 at 4:40 pm

There are examples of folks who had their property taken via eminent domain in CA, received take it or leave it lowball payments and lost their homes and businesses. Particularly for interstate highway and other projects some of which were never completed.

Some of which were routed through black neighborhoods v other neighborhoods and the route was equally viable but the losers were picked based, at least in part, on ‘race’. That did happen, not in every instance, but blanket denial that ‘race’ played any factor in some of those decisions is disingenuous.

The descendents of those folks may have a claim. Handing out taxpayer dollars to folks based only on skin pigmentation without any direct proof of prior harm is as crazy as it is offensive.

Close The Fed in reply to CommoChief. | December 3, 2022 at 7:42 pm

We have statutes of limitations for good reasons.

CommoChief in reply to CommoChief. | December 3, 2022 at 9:17 pm

My point is there are a very few legitimate claim situations out there. If CA wants to pay out today for past actions then those specific legitimate claims may be worth a second look from the point of justice.

IMO the generalized non specific cases of harm based on pigmentation are not worthy of anything but scorn. We shouldn’t ever reward tribalism.

          JohnSmith100 in reply to CommoChief. | December 3, 2022 at 9:52 pm

They might make that claim. Another explanation could be that they were looking for the least expensive route, and that route was the least expensive because both the homes and property were low value.

CommoChief in reply to CommoChief. | December 3, 2022 at 10:20 pm

          JohnSmith,

Exactly so. They may merit a second look but not a guaranteed payout if the evidence doesn’t support it.

We shouldn’t reward or punish based on tribalism or pigmentation.

Marxism at its finest,, those who will be taxed for these payments never owned a slave or known one

Let’s be honest: $569 billion is only the initial payment; but if anyone deserves this treatment, it’s California voters.

Wait a sec. If this $569 billion is the amount needed to compensate for housing discrimination just for the 45-year period from 1933 through 1977, then will CA be recommending another $569 billion next year for the 45-year period from 1978 through 2022, and then again for every 45-year period that follows 2022?

In typical leftist fashion, the only people actually subjected to slavery in California are excluded from the proposed reparations program and have no representation on the task force.

Slavery in colonial California began with the systematic enslavement of indigenous Californians. The arrival of the Spanish colonists introduced chattel slavery and involuntary servitude to the area. White colonists from the Southern and Eastern United States brought their systems of organized slavery to California.

The most startling public exhibit that I have ever seen was as at Ellis Island decades ago. It was a map of America showing that it was at one time almost completely populated with many Native American tribes. I recall that specific exhibit mentioning 3 million people, but have since seen numbers as high as 10+ million.

I seriously doubt that. If none of the nations inhabiting California at the time practiced slavery, that would be remarkable.

Get in line. This is peanuts compared with trillions in Covid reparations due with respect to the million+ Americans who died from our government’s Wuhan Lab adventures. Government causing you to lose your life is slightly more serious than housing discrimination.
https://nypost.com/2022/12/03/scientist-who-worked-at-wuhan-lab-says-covid-man-made-virus/

“Huff, an epidemiologist said in his new book, The Truth About Wuhan, that the pandemic was the result of the US government’s funding of coronaviruses in China.”

i suppose Ghana is on the hook here? Because Ghana acquired the slaves and brokered them.

Headline: “Newsom nixes reparations. Jewelry shops, liquor stores, dance clubs, Cadillac dealerships, NBA merchandise vendors, and weed dealers hardest hit.”

“There were roughly 1500 slaves in California. blah, blah, blah”

There were roughly 15 million black babies aborted in California in the last 50 years. At $223,000.00 per baby, that’s a lot of money down the drain—you should’ve listened to us Prolifers.

BierceAmbrose | December 3, 2022 at 4:18 pm

How ya gonna do that?

Cali loves declaring their huge-ness vs. countries, mostly to argue that they should really dictate to the whole US. Hey, why not secede? And why wouldn’t we let them?

With their own currency, they’d get the ability to inflate their way out of fiscal shenanigans — exactly as long and as well as that works for anyone else. Hey, who are we to yolk them to a stable currency/

Subotai Bahadur | December 3, 2022 at 4:50 pm

1) There will never be a point where they will say that sufficient reparations have been paid to cover the debt.
2) There will be no proof required by any California entity in charge of this of actual descent from slaves.
3) Descent is usually something anecdotal in most families. Up until a few years ago, before my daughter and some of her cousins went really heavy into geneology, I believed I was just Chinese-German. Not that it means a lot anymore, but according to official documents I am among other things descended from Mary Chilton, who was the first Pilgrim female to set foot on Plymouth Rock. In addition to German I have English, Cornish, Welsh, and other lines in my past. [ I am hoping for the others of the 7 Nations.] At what freaking point does reality intrude and you have to stop blaming what happened in your life on what happened to your ancestors?
4) You know that California assumes that they will not be required to pay for any of this. We will.
5) Every pendulant Richard or Richardless who wants to be paid for this scam will be pouring into California to cash in. I don’t expect that they will be doing anything economically productive there while waiting.

I would say that it is time for those in California to make an irrevocable choice. If you believe in the US, personal responsibility, and the Constitution; move to America now. If you believe in California ideology, stay there. Enforceable borders need to be erected.

I’m still waiting for Bill Clinton to pay my wife’s student loans.

Good luck getting some lying fat ass politician to pony up the black bonanza!

There is no money to pay for this crap! It is time for the people of California to march to Sacramento, round up the butt heads who sign for this to become law, and dump them all bleeding in the Pacific for the sharks to feast! Short of that, Americans need to vote California out of the USA!

We may have the opportunity to tell Newsom to “shove it” in 2024.

Just what we need, more California Senators.

        AF_Chief_Master_Sgt in reply to JohnSmith100. | December 4, 2022 at 1:38 pm

While I agree that adding two more Californicated Senators will create problems, I suspect the odds that these would be more conservative are about 50/50.

It would reduce the number of Electoral Votes from the current California count from the current 54 and open options for more conservative members of the House of Representin’

“We can’t be broke! There are still unused checks in the checkbook!”

Wondering how reparations will be worked out? Only a first generation direct descendent will get 100% and then that is reduced for every step away from the original slave? 😂😂

Will Rachael Dolezal apply? This phrase applies- I didn’t own any slaves and you didn’t pick any cotton.

Can we send them a bill for all of the shoplifting and welfare costs? We might make some $$$ on that deal.

I might have have ancestors who were irish slaves. Where do I get the claim form to ask for my reparations check?
