Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson Wins Reelection

Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson Wins Reelection

An expensive race, but Johnson held on, keeping the state in the GOP’s hands.

Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson (R), considered one of the most vulnerable Republicans in 2022, kept his seat against Democrat opponent Mandela Barnes:

Democrats had initially been hopeful that they could oust Johnson, who was increasingly defined by headlines over his statements on issues like abortion, his perpetuation of dubious and unproven Covid treatments, and his ties to the Jan. 6 riot and fake elector plot to help throw the 2020 election to Donald Trump.

But a successful rebrand, as well as unrelenting attacks against Barnes on crime and criminal justice issues, appeared to help Johnson’s standing among voters.

Barnes made an early bet to run as a progressive and largely did not move to the center. His campaign focused heavily on promises to protect abortion rights and Social Security benefits.

Republicans are still waiting for Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona.

Comments

Ron Johnson complained on Twitter, just a few minutes ago, that the MSM is refusing to call the race with 99% reporting and no mathematical possibility for the Dem candidate.

Way to go Ron! Who cares if the media declares it

He won!!!!

He fight for us and McConnell hates that

“dubious and unproven Covid treatments”

And it shows by the tens of millions of dollars his pac spent in Wisconsin.

It would be a good idea to start sticking to reality from this point going forward imaginary conflict between Ron Johnson and Mitch McConnell is imaginary and even if it wasn’t shouldn’t be encouraged.

Good to hear. Johnson is one of the good ones.

AFAIK, Wisconsin did some serious 2020 vote fraud investigation and found some things and maybe did some changes. Is it possible that stopping fraud helped Johnson win while fraud continued elsewhere?
I am not going to scream “fraud!” at every Repub loss, but neither do I recall seeing major bipartisan and major media efforts to investigate and come to conclusions to reassure the public that no fraud occurred.

Wisconsin has a Democrat governor. Sorry but what winning in Wisconsin means is that it was never a matter of fraud in that state we lost a very close election there.
