Republican National Committee Launching Review Board After Disappointing Midterms

Republican National Committee Launching Review Board After Disappointing Midterms

“Our party needs to modernize. We’re fighting against Big Tech, the media, and now, the Democrats’ GOTV early voting machine”

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is launching a new board to look at the outcome of the 2022 midterms.

Although Republicans took control of the House, Republican voters are disappointed with the outcome in the Senate and in a handful of governor races.

Politico reports:

RNC commissions ‘review’ of party tactics after disappointing midterm

The Republican National Committee is launching a review of the party’s performance in the midterm election and bringing on a team of outside advisers to help guide strategy, as the GOP reckons with its disappointing performance in the election.

The RNC is tapping nearly a dozen people to serve in what it’s calling a “Republican Party Advisory Council” – a group that includes former Donald Trump White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, evangelical leader Tony Perkins and a pair of Senate candidates who ran this year.

Separately, the committee is starting what senior Republicans are describing as a “review” of the party’s mechanics during the midterms, which is being led by RNC members. The RNC is expected to publish the findings sometime during the first half of 2023.

Republican officials say they are moving to address broader concerns confronting the GOP in the wake of the midterms, when the party underperformed expectations in a political environment many felt was to their advantage.

Blake Masters, who lost his Arizona Senate race, will be on the panel and offered these remarks:

“Our party needs to modernize. We’re fighting against Big Tech, the media, and now, the Democrats’ GOTV early voting machine,” Masters said in a statement. “I look forward to working with Ronna to make sure the party effectively supports our candidates and wins big in 2024.”

I would argue that early and mail-in voting are the most significant issues that must be addressed. The GOP thinks it can still rely on turnout on election day when that is clearly no longer the case.

Mollie Hemingway of The Federalist talked about this issue days after the elections.

Newsmax notes that Lee Zeldin is still considering a challenge to RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel:

Meanwhile, Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., said he is “very seriously considering” calls for him to mount a challenge against McDaniel.

“It is time for our party to retool, transform, win back the presidency in 2024, expand our number of Republican held seats in Congress, and elect the maximum number of down ballot races across the country,” Zeldin wrote in a letter to the RNC. “The Republican Party needs to be all in to do everything in its power to save America.”

It is perfectly reasonable to expect some change in Republican leadership after these elections.

Some say the lack of viability was due to the 1-2 compromise (i.e. separation of federal and state domains). Others say that progressive prices (i.e. market dysfunction forced by single/central/monopolistic solutions) is a choice of the democratic/dictatorial regime (i.e. the so-called “third-rail” apology) and must be sustained through shared responsibility.

We knew they were not serious about combating #DemocratElectionFraud. The GOP is rife with RINOs and worse. How can the GOP expect to win a MAGA platform with the likes of Rona ROMNEY McDaniel as GOP Chair?

Any functional organization that lost this badly would fire at least the top two levels.
If they don’t–and it appears they aren’t g0ing to–the only conclusion is that they are fine with the outcome of the 2020 and 2022 elections.

Completely agree. They are fighting the exact same things they faced in 2020 and sat on their hands the last 2 years. It should be Zeldin over Romney’s niece.

It was the plan all Along, they helped with the steal, make no mistake about it.

It’s a joke by now. A bad one, and one we’ll pay for in the years to come.

Meantime, dump corrupt hacks like this McDaniel clown.

I’d suggest throwing a pie in her face, but no one could tell the difference before and after.

Danny in reply to gonzotx. | December 2, 2022 at 1:13 am

There wasn’t any steal Trump used his influence to convince us to pick an obviously horrible slate of candidates who mostly ran on Donald Trump.

Within Michigan a state that had one of the Trump candidates

Trump primaried an incumbent in grand rapids and replaced the incumbent with a stop the steal candidate.

John James ran against a Democrat incumbent

John James won his election, while like Tudor Dixon the Trump candidate lost.

This happened in many states, Trump candidates lost.

“no more “but voting should be one day!”You play the game with the rules that exist, not the ones you wish.”

Who gives a damn anymore what old white documents like state constitutions say.

“Section 11. There shall be a general election of representatives in congress, and of state, county, and precinct officers on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of the first even numbered year after the year in which Arizona is admitted to statehood and biennially thereafter.”

gonzotx in reply to henrybowman. | November 30, 2022 at 8:14 pm

    Exactly

Unfortunately we have to play the game till we Can change it back.

    I don’t trust they well

mailman in reply to gonzotx. | December 1, 2022 at 3:50 am

Absolutely! Cheat like fuck and then cheat and cheat and keep cheating until you win and take control and then change the system!! It seems the old GOP is just incapable of learning this lesson.

Actually, I take that back. I don’t think they don’t want to learn this lesson but more a case of not wanting to learn this lesson because it’s good for business being stupid.

Until the RNC, and the larger GOP base, come to terms with the fact that America is the goal of a long-operating conspiracy, an audacious/outrageous plan to force the USA into a NRO, with those conspirators in charge, it will continue to be the second fiddle.

Gee, could it be due to funding controlled by Mitch being pulled from certain races and going to others like Alaska ? Nah…
If heads don’t roll from this disaster, I’m done with them.

Subotai Bahadur | November 30, 2022 at 8:04 pm

To the RNC, the disappointment is that they won the House. Now they have to pretend to do something.

Subotai Bahadur

What a joke. The GOPe luvs them some status quo. Modernize? Reform? HA. They want to be in the minority shadows. Witness what they do in the majority: NOTHING.

The GOPe will always be controlled opposition; democrat-light. Because the globalist bankster pay better than all the Republican base put together.

That why cocaine Mitch always (read: ALWAYS) leaves the far right to twist in the wind.

I think a lot of the reason is, as Glenn Reynolds describes it, “getting too cocky.“ When you act like somethings definitely going to happen like that, I think we informed the lefties, they believed it, and and they went to the polls. We need to be more circumspect. Lefties know how to do that better than we do

Dolce Far Niente | November 30, 2022 at 8:25 pm

Behind closed doors, the RNC is saying “Unfortunately, we won the House, but in general we fought hard to make sure those Trumptards and America First criminals were defeated in the most important races. As always, we know who our true political enemies are, and we thank the Democrat election machines for helping us meet our goals.
Oh, and we stand with Ukraine.”

Specific Suggestions:
1. Broaden the get out the vote (GOTV) by embracing the new rules in States which allow early voting, no excuse absentee ballots and ballot collection by 3rd parties.
2. Keep away from the primaries. Don’t fund incumbents to stave off a challenge. Require that those running in a r primary have a 80% In State donations.
3. Challenge r Gov and r legislatures to end primary games. Require voters to be registered as r NLT Dec 31 the year prior to the midterm in order to vote in the r primary. Then work to get rid of ranked choice where possible. Alaska is possible but NY isn’t.
4. Stop using seniority as the primary factor for committee chairs in HoR. Keep the HoR closest to the people as intended.
5. Allow ordinary amendments to be submitted and voted on without prior approval of leadership. Ryan and Pelosi used the Speaker’s chair to throttle most amendments.
6. Put funding the border wall into every single bill until funding is passed.

General ideas. Do what the base wants v what DC wants for a change. Set priorities for spending by using Art 1, Sec 8 enumerated powers as the first things to be funded. Then all other functions. Stop tinkering with Social Security until we have a r POTUS and r majority in both Houses. Let the d/prog figure it out, force them to do so by refusing to clean up their mess. Same with healthcare. The fact is were just gonna get blamed for trying to be responsible so it makes zero sense to try until we have the WH and control of Congress.

Best suggestion of all: put a tireless businessman in charge of the RNC – like Mike Lindell.

No more hacks like McDaniels, Michael Steele or Reince Prebus as GOP Chair.

Vote by mail is the culprit and it’s way beyond their control.

One analyst reported a different take on what happened, at least in some races: In some jurisdictions, the elections offices quietly changed ZIP codes on thousands of addresses just before ballots were going to be mailed out. Then, after the ballots were mailed, the ZIPs were changed back. When the ballots were returned because of the bad addresses, they were put aside to be filled out and submitted later. IF this is true, it would be one reason “counting” has taken so long – they’d have to match the bad ballots against people who voted in person to avoid red flags. Don’t know if it’s true, but it’s certainly a viable way of introducing thousands of bogus ballots.

Regarding election fraud, I’m going with the affidavits and evidence presented in court filings. So far we have “no standing” and cases are dismissed for reasons that I don’t understand. One trick of the left (disinformation) is to plant fake stories in the media, That is used two ways. One way is to start investigations against their enemies. The second way is to lead you down a false trail to distract you from actual fraud. I don’t know If zip codes were changed but I’ll wait for the evidence before jumping on that one.

      CommoChief in reply to r2468. | December 1, 2022 at 8:50 am

Concentrate on cleaning up the voter rolls which is a requirement under motor voter. In parallel work to ensure uniformity in elections procedures across the State which is also a requirement.

CA is being challenged on both by ordinary Citizens who the 9th Circuit ruled have standing to proceed overturning the trial court. IOW go after ‘how’ elections are run instead of ‘what’ result the elections produce.

      Danny in reply to r2468. | December 1, 2022 at 1:17 pm

Then you are going based on things made up out of a figment of your own imagination congratulations.

Not a single one of Donald Trump’s lawsuits got dismissed on lack of standing STOP LYING TO CREATE SELF DEFEATING MYTHS.

We have 2021 Virginia where the current REPUBLICAN governor of that blue state strapped the narrative to a rocket and launched it into the sun, and or the 2022 election, and the 2021 senate election we lost with your lying narrative.

The fact that the media lies doesn’t mean it is 100% wrong. It says China and Cuba are bad is that lying? Is it lying when it reports on the Uighur genocide (BBC one of the most frequent reporters on it).

        r2468 in reply to Danny. | December 1, 2022 at 8:11 pm

Texas lawsuit was tosses out by SC because they didn’t have standing. Not everything is about Trump.

          Danny in reply to r2468. | December 2, 2022 at 1:20 am

The Texas lawsuit OBJECTIVELY DESERVED TO FAIL.

The Texas lawsuit argued that because PA did not follow its own constitution concerning mail in ballots PA should be disenfranchised and have its electoral votes not counted, and argued as jurisdiction that PA actions impacted Texas.

Do you have any idea how Orwellian that is? Could California sue Texas because Texas’ low taxes result in California businesses moving to Texas removing much needed tax revenue from California?

Do you have any idea how horrible an idea disenfranchising a state once you acknowledge there is nothing wrong is?

Justice Clarence Thomas in the dissent on if the SC should have heard the case stated “PLAINTIFF PRESENTED NO EVIDENCE OF FRAUD OR ALLEGATION OF FRAUD”.

I really don’t give a dam what Ken Paxton tells me I give a dam what he tells a federal judge, and what he told the Supreme Court was use black letter law to disenfranchise millions of Pennslyvanians.

We have seen that the conspiracy theory that PA doesn’t actually have elections is unpopular in PA.

I would rather flip PA in 2024 than cling to lies and delusions about how it voted in 2020, but that is just me I care about America’s future and think it matters if we are guiding it or the Democrats.

If there’s no change in leadership in the GOP or RNC, that tells me the leaders and power players in the R party are fine with the results in 2022. At that point the Republican Party doesn’t represent me and we’ll go our separate ways.

    henrybowman in reply to r2468. | December 1, 2022 at 2:59 am

If Blake Masters is on the commission, I trust him to tell them everything I would have told them myself, for starters.

Not if he says he wants to work with Ronna Romney. That right there shows he wants to be part of the current party power and doesn’t realize the current party power lost him his election.

Zeldin is also part of the “lose with dignity McCain, Romney, etc” crowd. In other words, Zeldin would be no better than Romney, Priebus, etc. IMO.

I was impressed by who is on the committee but I also understand the way things work and there must be change otherwise the Dems will clean up in 2024. A fancy report won’t cut it for me. I want action.

We all do, but right now, the GOP is focused on their interests, not ours. This is a problem.

CommoChief in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | December 1, 2022 at 11:29 am

The establishment GOP, the crony players, the insiders are absolutely doing so. They will continue to do so until they are challenged. Until they are removed or forced to change we should expect it to continue.

The GOP is comprised of the registered r who are active in their precincts, counties and State level GOP. When a sufficient number of the ordinary people get involved in choosing local GOP and State level GOP leaders then we can impact the national GOP.

Until a sufficient number of ordinary people choose to do the pain in the ass work to reform their local r party organization instead of sitting it out on the sidelines the current trends will continue.

Blake Masters is an example of why we lost the quest for the senate in 2022.

He should be kept as far from any form of influence as humanly possible.

    Danny in reply to r2468. | December 2, 2022 at 9:39 pm

I agree Trump should cease to be the leader, and should cease losing elections for us, we need fewer Blake Masters and more Brian Kemps.

Work on getting rid of mail ballots
And grow a spine to fight the Uniparty

Your welcome

Fight fire with fire. Do as the Romans do. Take no prisoners.

Either fix the rules or play by them (to the extent the Dems do).

McDaniels was only there to pave the way for Uncle Mittens and punish Trump supporters.

The RNC needs to clean house,. Zeldin would make a great chair

Bringing McConnell and McCarthy in as ‘leaders’ is all I need to see. If the captain continues to steer your ship on the rocks then you need to find another ship.

Here is the review: RNC, you suck.

Clean house completely.

A Fox watching the hen house. What could go wrong?

Rona has been a failure since she took over in 2017. Firing her might be a good first step.

By in large the R’s lost because they’re a pathetic bunch of idiots.

No attention paid to the concerns of us commoners … no policies … no ideas … constant pissing matches over woke shit with the D’s … constant election denial … hanging to the coat tails of Trump … plain flat stupid, unlikable, contentious, ass hole personalities … always crying over the losses of the last whatever election … abortion stance … idiot candidates etc. etc.

They should have cleaned house but they were too stupid and arrogant to convince voters they were the best choice and weren’t a group of cry baby loose cannons.

I detest the D party … but I’d rather not vote than vote for some of these R clowns.

Many of the commentariat hereabouts have background in doing effective reviews and retrospectives.

Anybody getting the sense they’re doing it right? Bueller? Bueller?
