NBC News Paints ‘Moms for Liberty’ as Racist After a South Carolina School Board Fired Its Black Superintendent
The report buried the fact that the new superintendent is also black.
The conservative activist group ‘Moms for Liberty’ recently won South Carolina, effectively taking over a school board.
Within hours, they banned the teaching of Critical Race Theory and fired the school superintendent.
NBC News covered the story but used a racial (and dishonest) angle. Here’s what they tweeted:

Moms for Liberty-backed school board members fire superintendent, ban critical race theory
On Tuesday evening, the Berkeley County School District in South Carolina swore in the board members who were elected last week, six of whom were endorsed by the conservative activist group Moms for Liberty.
Within two hours, the school board had voted to fire the district’s first Black superintendent, terminate the district’s lawyer, ban critical race theory and set up a committee to decide whether certain books and materials should be banned from schools.
In addition, the board voted to replace the chair with Mac McQuillin, a local attorney and one of the board members backed by Moms for Liberty.
The rapid moves Tuesday in the Berkeley County district, the fourth largest in the state, showed the impact of Moms for Liberty’s focus on electing conservative school board members, and prompted uproar among some community members in attendance.
Buried towards the bottom of the article is this (emphasis is mine):
Moments later, McQuillin moved to terminate Deon Jackson, who was appointed superintendent last year, and replace him with Anthony Dixon, who had worked in the district as an administrator. Dixon will be the district’s second Black superintendent, after Jackson.

The folks who insist that race is the or one of the answers to every situation are racist. Just a question of degree.

It’s racist to fire somebody who should not have been hired in the first place.
Diversity [dogma] (i.e. color judgment, class-based bigotry) denies individual dignity, individual conscience, intrinsic value, and normalizes color blocs (e.g. “people of color”), color quotas (e.g. too many people from Asia), and affirmative discrimination (e.g. one-child, reproductive rites).

Elder sis was a Nurse Admin at a state-run facility. One of her duties was to write up workers (nurses, aides, etc.) for repeated late arrivals, or other violations. Previous admins didn’t want to fight the unions to enforce working requirements – could be a bureaucratic nightmare. There was more than one nurse who was consistently late arriving. Several happened to be black. Sis wasn’t having it – at the very least unfair to the fellow employees unable to leave on time. Sis documented everything, because Unions and State, When eventual verbal warnings had to escalate and some Late-e-loos inevitably played the “It’s because I’m Black” card, she had all her ducks in a row.

The idiots who play the “IBIB'” card as a “get out of work jail” card ruin the work environment not only for all the other workers pulling their weight but possibly for other, black workers, who do their job well.
Any employer worth working for holds the employees equally accountable. When employees are gold bricking then the remaining employees have to carry an increased load. That risks burn out for those doing the right thing as well as these higher quality employees finding a competitor who will value their skills and dedication.

There is a fairly high probably that both the one fired and the replacement are not competent, the same is true for white washed up jock school administrators.
I’ve only met one superintendent who was. He was such a political animal that it didn’t matter if he was competent because educational competency wasn’t what he used to make decisions.
I hear there is a crowd source “fact check” on Twitter where clarification and context is added to misleading tweets. This happened when Joe mentioned the SS bump and forgot to say it was a result of inflation.

As I read things, asking for competency or merit is itself racist. Thinking that way upsets the entire AA structure.

But the woman who says she’s a teacher in the video is interesting. She says she’s pulling her kid out of the district because it no longer has critical race theory in the curriculum.

All commentary about the superintendents, ex- and new-, aside, the real news here is that the new board stepped up and did IMMEDIATELY what they said they would do during the election.
