Black Community Activists Support Legal Insurrection’s Challenge To Providence School’s Anti-White Hiring Incentives

Loan forgiveness hiring incentive is only open to non-whites, and Black community activists say that’s not right.

I didn’t see this one coming, but maybe I should have.

As you know, Providence (RI) Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program Only Open To Non-Whites Challenged By Legal Insurrection Foundation:

The Providence, Rhode Island, Public School District has a loan forgiveness program for new and recently hired teachers, funded by the Rhode Island Foundation, the largest charity in the state. There’s a catch, however. Whites need not apply, it’s only open to non-whites.

Legal Insurrection Foundation has filed a challenge to this overtly racist and discriminatory program, after a 6-month investigation that included obtaining information from public sources and also from records obtained by LIF pursuant to the Rhode Island Access to Public Records Act.

I discussed the challenge on the Matt Allen Show:

Separate from our legal challenge, the Providence School District, which was so bad it was taken over by the state, is in even more turmoil, with a press conference held today by community activists:

Community members gathered in front of the Providence Public School Department (PPSD) offices on Westminster Street in Providence on Tuesday morning to express their concern regarding issues in the Providence Public Schools, as well as the state intervention in the district. Pillar McCloud, CEO and Founder of A Sweet Creation Youth Organization began the press conference by saying that she was representing families, students, legislators, community organizations, and other community members.

“Due to the poor performance of the state intervention and recent allegations against the superintendent’s senior advisor,” said McCloud, “we have a few things we would like to ask of PPSD….

Joining McCloud at the press conference were Gary Dantzler, Executive Director of Black Lives Matter Rhode Island; Dwayne Keys, Chair of the Southside Neighborhood Association; Representative David Morales (Democrat, District 7, Providence); Providence School Board member Ty’Relle Stephens; and Gerard Catala, President Elect of the Providence Branch of the NAACP.

“They are not listening to us,” said Executive Director Dantzler. “It’s really sad that we have to go to this extreme to get the attention of the media. We need to protect our young Black and brown kids for the future of Rhode Island, and it’s imperative that we stand behind these schools and understand what’s going on.”

“Racism is not something you can perform at your job and still be employed,” said Dwayne Keys. “All those who are protecting the senior advisor, or who are ignoring what is being released are all contributing to that racism and white supremacy that is showing up in this situation.” While recognizing the hard work that is being down by teachers and administration every day, Keys stressed the need for truly independent investigations into these serious allegations.

You can read the group’s Press Release.

During the press conference, Pat Ford of The Coalition Radio asked if they were aware of the “lawsuit” and whether they supported it. The answer was an unequivocal yes, they supported the challenge and agreed that the discriminatory hiring program was the wrong way to achieve “equity”:

Providence Schools continues the discriminatory practice, including as a job fair scheduled for December 1, 2022.

Excellent development. May move the onus from “BIPOCs for racism” onto “Crazy White Chicks,” where perhaps it always belonged.

That’s nice but we DON’T need them to protest a policy that is racist and wrong and illegal.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to CellarDoor. | December 1, 2022 at 3:29 pm

      Why not?

Why turn down a gift from heaven?
I’ve always thought groups like Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, Pink Pistols, and Operation Blazing Sword were a gift from heaven. Tyrant enablers continually ridicule gun owners for their “fantasy” that their guns will help them resist a totalitarian government that “can’t happen here.” But when they try to feed that same BS to a Jew, watch heads spin.

Just identify as multiracial… for example, Anglo and Saxon.

That’s what I say; if all you have to do is “identify” as a particular race(s), they can’t challenge that based on all the identity rules they have put in place for gender, race etc.

They would have to call out Elizabeth Warren (who would apply for it if she could).

DSHornet in reply to malclave. | December 1, 2022 at 8:40 am

I could since I identify as multiracial. The Bride’s extensive family research and my own DNA test revealed Angle, Saxon, and Celt. Interestingly, the Celts were originally from the Levant and migrated to the British Isles thousands of years ago. Additionally, since I speak Southern as my native language, I could teach SSL.

    So where do I apply?
    .

“Racism is not something you can perform at your job and still be employed,” said Dwayne Keys
Really? Why don’t you ask that BLM guy next to you what his group represents, Mr Keys and if you actually believe what you say are you against Affirmative Action and Quota’s because hiring people based entirely on their skin color is kinda racist.
I see 2 people there who were actually asked to represent people. The others are grifters in the Racism game.

From the press release:

“Most importantly, we have also seen a decrease in RICAS and SAT scores.”

One of the best things to come out of this disastrous last couple of years is the involvement of all kinds of parents in the school system. There was a time when I thought Federal intervention in some of our poorer quality districts would be an improvement, but this well-intended idea did not pan out.

I am well aware of the problem with disparity in funding in schools due to the economic status of various districts; I watched it in my home town, where the wealthier school districts approved bonds, and the poorer ones did not. This led to a cycle of widening disparity in both school quality and house prices. The attempt to solve that problem by using “free” money from the Federal government has turned into a clusterfark of bad policy and enforced poor performance in both poor schools and what were once good schools.

Many States have a portion of their property tax across the State go into education budget and sent on a per student basis to districts. That mitigates the unequal funding issue a bit. Combined with federal per student funds it makes a real impact.

Another tool is allowing parents to choose which particular school to send their child to. In El Paso they did this. Basically if the neighborhood elementary had excess capacity for an additional fifty students beyond the kids from the neighborhood then parents could choose to send their kids to that school.

    gmac124 in reply to Valerie. | December 2, 2022 at 4:43 pm

Funding and poor performance do not correlate. Most of the kids in the underperforming schools do not value education. The kids in your wealthy district have parents that care and value education. That is why they pass bonds and their kids perform well in school.

And/or, they have less academic ability. Their parents have less academic ability which is why they earn less and live in the poor district.

Remember South Africa: Xhosa vs Zulu. Rwanda: Hutu vs Tutsi. Kenya: elite vs deplorables. Diversity (Inequity, and Exclusion) is a clear and progressive risk in liberal culture.

That looks like a photo of Biden’s four remaining brain cells. Public conservatives always go into raptures when any black seemingly agrees with them on any issue. This is counterproductive. The “friend” always either backtracks, proves to be embarrassing, has mixed and opposing views, or is already labeled a traitor to his race. Regardless such people are a vanishingly small minority. The “optics” here destroy any PR value.

BierceAmbrose | December 1, 2022 at 3:00 pm

Tons of discrimination going on here. I believe actually working in a school district to get your loans covered is way harder than voting for Gropey Joe n company. Way, way harder than being in a demographic with votes they think they can buy.

artichoke in reply to BierceAmbrose. | December 6, 2022 at 9:17 pm

Why? All jobs are hard. Is working in a school district that covers your loans much harder, or harder at all, than other jobs you could have?

e pluribus unum | December 4, 2022 at 8:38 pm

It is obvious (or should be) that anytime government discriminates against whites, the same discrimination is being allowed, at some later time, by some future administration, to be implemented against non-whites.
Discrimination is discrimination.
If you agree to discrimination in the law against whites you are saying it is OK to discriminate against blacks- or browns-or red-or yellow.
That is why laws are color-blind.

artichoke in reply to e pluribus unum. | December 6, 2022 at 9:15 pm

I would go further and say that discrimination against whites should be answered by discrimination against non-whites, for the obvious reasons
    (1) redress of the damage
    (2) deterrence.

Actions not cries for equal treatment. Usually it’s necessary to overcorrect to get back to center, otherwise the critically damped system only reaches center asymptotically after infinite time. And in the long run, we’re all dead.
