Tulsi Gabbard Officially Leaves the Democratic Party, Which Works to ‘Undermine Our God-Given Freedoms’

“Now, I believe in a government that’s of the people, by the people, and for the people. Unfortunately, today’s Democratic Party does not. Instead, it stands for a government that is of, by and for the powerful elite.”

Former 2020 presidential candidate and Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard officially left the Democratic Party.

I thought she left months ago. Tulsi doesn’t tell us if she will join another party:

GABBARD: “I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that’s under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers, who are driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by rationalizing every issue and stoking anti-white racism, who actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms that are enshrined in our Constitution, who are hostile to people of faith and spirituality, who demonize the police but protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans, who believe in open borders, who weaponize the national security state to go after their political opponents, and, above all, who are dragging us ever closer to nuclear war. Now, I believe in a government that’s of the people, by the people, and for the people. Unfortunately, today’s Democratic Party does not. Instead, it stands for a government that is of, by and for the powerful elite. Now, I’m calling on my fellow common sense, independent-minded Democrats to join me in leaving the Democratic Party. If you can no longer stomach the direction that the so-called woke Democratic Party ideologues are taking our country, I invite you to join me.”

“Tulsi Gabbard Officially Leaves Democratic Party”

Where did she go?

mailman in reply to Peabody. | October 11, 2022 at 1:17 pm

    I guess she’s an independent now? 🤷‍♀️

Peabody in reply to mailman. | October 11, 2022 at 1:19 pm

That would be my guess. And a Bernie supporter as well.

      The_Mew_Cat in reply to mailman. | October 11, 2022 at 2:40 pm

Politicians don’t do things like this on whim. Tulsi obviously has a plan to run for President as an (I) in 2024. We could have an interesting situation of a truly competitive 3 or even a 4-way race, and the election decided by the House of Representatives on the 200th anniversary of the last time a contest was decided by the House. My bet is Liz Cheney will be the Dem (possibly Hillary’s??) running mate in 2024. The GOP ticket will be conventional. The 2024 election will be held during a 2nd Great Depression and possibly in the aftermath of a Biden nuclear war. Who knows what might happen?

        henrybowman in reply to The_Mew_Cat. | October 11, 2022 at 2:55 pm

Nah. The Swamp learned from Ross Perot. No third party or independent will ever qualify to be included in presidential debates unless they meet an arbitrary popularity qualification that is roughly 40% greater than whatever is their most recently computed popularity qualification.

Every cycle, the Libertarian Party meets the previous debate’s qualification criteria, only to find it has been arbitrarily raised high enough to exclude them again. One thing that the average voter doesn’t know is that the presidential debate commission is not a “non-partisan” organization, it is a “bipartisan” organization. It is run entirely by the RNC and DNC — “private organizations” both — but with taxpayer money

gonzotx in reply to Peabody. | October 11, 2022 at 4:03 pm

    She’s not an elected official
    Anymore

Does she still do feelings or has she gone over to structure as the important thing?

A republican running on feelings is still a menace.

Ironclaw in reply to rhhardin. | October 11, 2022 at 1:14 pm

She didn’t say she was going republican, nor would I think she would be welcome there.

      JohnSmith100 in reply to Ironclaw. | October 11, 2022 at 3:31 pm

Lots of people have been deserting Dems, they are disgusted with what Dems have become. Gabbard is saying the right thinks, when Trump did this I supported him with reservations and he turned out well. She might do the same, it is unwise to reject potential allies out of hand. Give them enough rope to show that they are or are not sincere.

Took her long enough to see it. But, as a Bernie-supporting communist, I don’t think there’s room for her anywhere else.

Needle won’t move for this.

If she can stay her own woman and not just another DC greasy pole climber, she may draw a following among fed up Dem-Libs. Not everybody on that side is a flaming red Marxist. They too may be tired of the elitist cancel culture and Marxist leaning ‘wokeness’.

I guess she’s gotten smarter as she’s gotten older.

I have a lot of respect for Tulsi. Sure, her ideas are completely loony, but she’s more honest than any 20 Democrats (or 12 Republicans) combined.

Gosport in reply to irv. | October 12, 2022 at 3:03 pm

Gabbard is all over the place on who and what she supports and changes positions on important topics often.

    – WEF “Young Global Leader”
    – Was absolutely against same sex marriage, before she was absolutely for it
    – Supported the “Green New Deal”
    – Introduced the “Off Fossil Fuels Act” to force transition to ‘clean energy’ by 2035
    – Protested the Dakota Access Pipeline
    – Endorsed Bernie Sanders in 2016
    – Endorsed Keith Ellison for DNC chair
    – Endorsed Joe Biden in 2020
    – Stated she would “end the failed war on drugs, legalize marijuana, end cash bail, and ban private prisons”
    – Called for legalizing and regulating all drugs
    – Called for “easier path to citizenship” for illegal aliens
    – Criticized Trump for the killing of Iranian terror chief in Baghdad
    – Called for reinstating federal ban on military-style assault weapons and high capacity clips, requiring comprehensive pre-purchase background checks, closing the “gun-show loophole”

I’m not saying she isn’t worth listening to, but she also needs to answer some very serious questions that people seem to be avoiding asking her. She wouldn’t be the first pretty face that smoothly told the voters what they think they want to hear until she got elected.

Great that the Dems have lost a vote but don’t get your hopes up about what kind of Republican she would be. She is all over the map.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to Pasadena Phil. | October 11, 2022 at 3:54 pm

Who said she’s becoming a Republican?

I believe she will end up starting a movement. The Democrat Party doesn’t exist anymore. It has been taken over by socialists and they aren’t hiding it anymore. Once the old guard dies off or retires (very soon), Democrats will be fleeing. If McConnell succeeds in stopping Trump, the same will happen with the Republican Party.

Here in LA, we are witnessing the Democrats probably being kicked out of the LA City Council over the tape scandal. Many believe that tape was prepared and released by socialists. They are calling for the entire City Council to resign and will certainly get 3-5 of them to do so. The Democrat machine is stunned and doesn’t know what to do. They will have no say about how this works out but it is already clear that the socialists are preparing to take over.

LA will soon become the first city to be run by Marxists prepared to eliminate property rights and running amok to impose their evil programs one after the other. Who is going to stop them?

The reporting has focused so far on the crooked councilmen who have been caught en masse and are being booted. Lots of people are celebrating (“Its about time! They had it coming!”). But will soon be replaced en masse by outright communists prepared to wreak havoc on the city. Think I’m kidding? Wait and see. This was an orchestrated crisis and will not end well. The Squad will be expanding in numbers and influence in November. Gabbard must surely be on to this happening and is bailing with no apparent place to go.

Things are about to get very interesting before the elections. The Uniparty is about to change management.

Phil, your comment reads as though there is a difference between socialist and democrats. I don’t think there is. And to be clear, there is no difference in a socialist and a communist. One always leads to the other.

I agree socialist and communist is the same thing but Democrats are being taken over by the very extreme left and what is left of the old guard is being unceremoniously pushed out. Just watch how many of the younger newbies who just want to be in power lurch to the left and adopt a whole new language. What Gabbard is signaling is for them to get out while they can.

I believe we are about to see a metamorphosis and we won’t like the butterfly that emerges.

taurus the judge in reply to Pasadena Phil. | October 11, 2022 at 5:03 pm

I dont think she is even trying to be an ally unless its with the RINO’s.

    I hope I’m wrong

Odd choice of words, taurus. On what planet do conservatives or normal people talk about “allies” in this way?

That’s a pretty woke choice of words. BLM and the various strains of progressive CRT crazy talk up “allies’ as the best white cis people who will literally wash their feet, but why would YOU (supposedly not a fed plant and just a normal LI reader) use this language? Curious minds want to know.

taurus the judge in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | October 12, 2022 at 6:29 am

Nothing odd or woke about anything except your total lack of understanding while caught up in whatever deviant fantasy you seem to have about me being some kind of “plant”.

I’ll explain so maybe you can learn.

In conflicts there are only 3 categories because its accepted true neutrality doesn’t exist. (neutrality generally favors the aggressor by default)

“us”, “them” and the “tweeners” ( those who may support either side by degrees or under special conditions/compensation)

I use that language correctly because of the following analysis based on information in the media.

According to her- she is leaving the DNC because of “irreconcilable differences” on key “American/Constitutional” issues. She does have a history of this to varying degrees based on her past so its not a “spur of the moment” thing.

That’s what she has done- now we look at what she has not done.

She has not openly supported any specific “conservative” (MAGA) cause in any significant degree (significant degree being a level of support she could be attacked for or otherwise be viewed as a torch bearer)

She has also not openly supported ( literally stood with or for) any politician (MAGA or RINO)

All she has done is talk.

Obviously she has those decisions made ( she didn’t leave the DNC on a whim- it was well calculated and thought out and probably timed in advance) and its clear she is keeping them close to the vest at the moment. (reasons TBD)

Backing off for that thousand yard view and as one who generally does not believe in coincidences or serendipity- I do not see her as “convincing” yet because she has given nothing specific to gauge her by.

So, I am currently not accusing her or denying her- just waiting to see.

That said, my current OPINION is that she has her own agenda and her “conservatism” is in direct proportion to how much it benefits her agenda and that she will drop it at a moments notice if expedient. That OPINION is subject to change with new information.

She’s not in office so no lost vote for the Dems.

True, but this will definitely cost them at the ballot boxes in November which is likely her first move for destroying THIS Democrat Party and replacing it later with whatever she may be organizing. She does have the stature to pull off at least the first part. She is no dummy and is very ambitious. And unlike the word-salad specialists currently representing the Dems, she is very articulate. I’m wondering what money is backing her. I’m sure she didn’t make this big a jump without knowing where lands.

taurus the judge in reply to Pasadena Phil. | October 12, 2022 at 6:51 am

      I mostly agree Phil,

She didn’t do this on a whim and has some backing somewhere.

It obviously is focused on 24 as its probably too late to affect 22 significantly.

She clearly has a plan and an end game- no doubt about it.

That said, until I see enough clear and convincing evidence of exactly what that plan and end goal are, I don’t trust her at all.

      Wait and see.

She could run for President, peel off some Republicans, and hand the Presidency to the Democrats.

Just couldn’t leave the fold immediately after she became an unperson in favor of Harris. She hasn’t quite learned that her part of the spectrum still selects its future leaders rather than letting the prols decide. She is repositioning herself for further gain but will that be allowed?

2024 will be quite a contest. We will certainly be in recession, and possibly in a 2nd Great Depression, as the everything bubble will have burst by then, and the inflation will still be with us. Possibly also a total debt and currency collapse. We could be in the aftermath of a Biden nuclear war with Russia. A lot of political coalitions will be scrambled. Who knows what might happen. Tulsi is positioning herself for a big presidential run under extreme conditions.

“Tulsi is positioning herself for a big presidential run under extreme conditions.”

Big? She won’t be running as a democrat. An if she were to join the R party her presidential candidacy would require money, big money, and that’s coming from where?

    Nope, not happening, nothing BIG.

I think this still helps. There are undoubtedly many D voters that are not happy with where their party has gone. Seeing her leave will encourage them to stay home, and maybe some will actually vote for another party.

She’s not first, not last, and right on principle.

I bet her defection is a factor driving many others.

Hopefully other Dems will leave too. Maybe wake some folks up.

taurus the judge | October 11, 2022 at 5:00 pm

Ye shall know them by their fruits.

I do NOT trust her at all.

I have long suspected some form of “Trojan Horse” tactic by the left involving her.

She could be sincere and legit but I strongly suspect otherwise and will watch very close.

I also notice what she does not say. She gives the textbook” admonishment of the left in very generic terms (politic speak) but does not give any details on what she stands for and why.

She also shows no intent to ally with the right ( neither the MAGA or RINO/GOPe elements)

I suspect she is there to try to peel support from MAGA.

Time will tell.

BierceAmbrose | October 11, 2022 at 5:45 pm

That’s an interesting batch of news cycles.

“D-party former presidential candidate who got more support than the Veep now one heartbeat from the Presidency….”

She was still pretty to D left on many issues, but some of those might not be issues that matter. This could just be a sign that the wheels are falling off the D party going into the next four weeks.

The Gentle Grizzly | October 11, 2022 at 6:41 pm

Lots of folks reading many things into this. Could it just be she no longer agrees with what the Democrats stand for, and has left? That, and, nothing more?

Sure, but what is it, peculiar to democrats, that she disagree’s with? I know what she said, but other than the race baiting / anti-white stuff, I’m not sure her “disagreements” are valid. Warmongers? They exist on all sides. She says she wants out god given freedoms to remain intact, yet she’s a socialist Sanders supporter. Since socialism is not compatible with freedom, as it must be enforced with the gun, I think those are just slippery politician weasel words. YMMV

If she were less attractive this wouldn’t even be a conversation.

You tend to have a simplistic way of looking at things. It’s about connecting the dots, very big and prominent dots that are being thrown in our faces by a system that really hates us. They plans are in disarray as they head into an election they cannot win in a fair election.

Her leaving the Democrat Party is not an “event”. Put it together with everything else that is happening and how the left is about to lose the “election game” in a big way even if they cheat, it certainly is a signal that something is up. When a party’s only viable candidate who could be a factor leaves the party, it is significant of something. She isn’t retiring from politics and hasn’t given any indications she plans to switch parties. It’s the timing. Why now? She isn’t running for anything.

Many who feel like she does are about to get voted out anyway so some of the impact will get lost. But what happens with them after the elections will be worth watching. It will become much harder for the Democrat Party to come up with sensible candidates now.

The extreme left that is taking over is becoming unelectable. But they are not going to just give up when they were so sure the deed was done not too long ago. They had it in the bag! We are about to find out what they plan to do and they usually telegraph it. The Trump hoaxes and associated lawfare aren’t working. This is like the red Russians turning on the white Russians in 1918. They just might be able to stage a violent takeover and get away with it. Who is going to stop them? McConnell-led Republicans? SCOTUS? The DOJ?

Underscores the critical importance of Trump in all of this. If the DOJ can arrest him or the courts ignore the unconstitutionality of all of the phony legal actions and prevent him from running in 2024, it will be all over. Book it. DeSantis will NOT save us. He can’t.

Gabbard is not THE signal event but her timing is corresponding with other signal events that a takeover is in the works and important pieces are moving quickly across the board.

taurus the judge in reply to The Gentle Grizzly. | October 12, 2022 at 6:41 am

    Griz,

That’s certainly possible ( and personally an outcome i would love to see).

Like I said up thread, what she “says” means nothing to me- I am looking at what she actually DOES.

Barry points out a contradiction I also share. There is no “fellowship” between light and dark

She typically supports Bernie at least in spirit ( a true Socialist) yet she claims to hold our Constitutional freedoms important?

Also, she beat Kamala in the debates and the DNC turned on her- why did she stick around and why leave right now before midterms?

It could also be as Phil is saying basically an attempt by “Democrats” to retake their party from the far Left (not unlike the current GOPe/RINO struggle with MAGA currently ongoing)

Personally, i would support that too.

I think the point is she has not given enough detail and then walked the walk as to what her true motives and intent really are.

She could have just quietly registered as an independent as she’s not currently in office. Instead, she made a big fuss of announcing it and got herself on Tucker Carlson’s show to make sure it got publicized.

This wasn’t spur of the moment and wasn’t done without a reason. Time will tell what that reason is and whether the voters buy it.

Suburban Farm Guy | October 12, 2022 at 8:28 am

Would interesting if she started a new Party for the disaffected Dems and RINO refugees. Many Independents can’t countenance the anti-Americanism in the Democrat Woke nor the corruption and greed of RINOs and the DC Swamp.

A mass defection from both sides of the aisle would be a great wake-up call for American politics, which has gotten to be a real sewer.

After watching last night’s interview by Joe Rogan:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07bTdK4mjTk

it looks like Gabbard is positioning herself to be the POTUS replacement for Brandon and Kamala without going running the woke gauntlet. She will make her case independently where she is free to continue pointing out how the socialists control the party.

No one else can run and defeat Trump and I doubt she could either. But going from private citizen to quit the Democrat Party to essentially defeating the woke system would be a compelling story. She seems to be the only Democrat woman who doesn’t have the cackling, giggling problem too.

That would also make her public enemy #1 to The Squad in Congress so if nothing else, she would be exciting to watch as she dismantles the Dem party when they crash and hit bottom. Keep in mind that Schumer’s biggest fear is for AOC running for his Senate seat so Gabbard would be one avenue for him to consider in keeping his seat. I’m sure this works in other ways too.

Even the Democrat voters hate the Democrat Party right now and in 3-4 weeks, there will fewer of them to hate. Let’s see if AOC and her gang take over the Speaker’s office again like they did with Pelosi on day one.

Let’s see if the MSM picks up on this.

taurus the judge in reply to Pasadena Phil. | October 12, 2022 at 9:27 am

    @ Phil,

I also entertain that exact scenario as a possible end goal of hers (I have to believe there really are a lot of disenfranchised “True Democrats” out there who feel the same way about the left as I do about the GOPe/RINOs)

If true, I would like to see that happen.

In that scenario, I believe the ultimate litmus test will be if the left turns their guns on her with the clear intent to destroy her. ( they would have to because she would be a direct threat to their continued existence and as a message to anyone else who might try) The “left” will not go down without a fight to the death.

I personally don’t think the squad has any power or authority or even significant clout of their own- I think they are just “appointed” window dressing to be used as needed then shelved.

    We will see

Running for president, as a D, R, or an independent requires big bucks. Gabbard has zero chance of getting the $$$ required, so no, she will not have anything more than a look at me campaign.

buckeyeminuteman | October 12, 2022 at 11:07 am

She is a snake in the grass, do not trust her. Tulsi along with Eye-Patch McCain, Zuckerberg, Alexander Soros, Megan Rapinoe and a litany of others were brought into the World Economic Forum in the same “induction class”.
