Anti-Fossil Fuel Biden Admin in Midterm Elections Panic as OPEC Cuts Production

“The White House is ‘having a spasm and panicking.'”

Three months ago, President Joe Biden met with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Then Biden’s administration spent the last “several days” lobbying “foreign counterparts…to vote against cutting oil production.

Yes, the Biden administration cozied up to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates about oil.

The administration failed. OPEC announced “the biggest cut to oil production” since 2020.

CNN reported the Biden administration is freaking out:

Some of the draft talking points circulated by the White House to the Treasury Department on Monday that were obtained by CNN framed the prospect of a production cut as a “total disaster” and warned that it could be taken as a “hostile act.”

“It’s important everyone is aware of just how high the stakes are,” said a US official of what was framed as a broad administration effort that is expected to continue in the lead up to the Wednesday OPEC+ meeting.

The White House is “having a spasm and panicking,” another US official said, describing this latest administration effort as “taking the gloves off.” According to a White House official, the talking points were being drafted and exchanged by staffers and not approved by White House leadership or used with foreign partners.

In a statement to CNN, National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson said, “We’ve been clear that energy supply should meet demand to support economic growth and lower prices for consumers around the world and we will continue to talk with our partners about that.”

One diplomat from one of the countries supposedly called the moves “desperate.”

Prices are spiking across the nation. California is setting new records. Midterms are in five weeks. People are ticked off.

Biden thinks he’ll make it all the better by digging more into our reserves.

The Republicans lashed out at Biden and his people. The Democrats criticized America’s dependence on oil while using the situation to push their stupid “clean energy” agenda:

“This OPEC+ announcement should serve as a reminder to all of us that true American energy independence comes from clean energy,” said Senate Environment Committee Chairman Tom Carper, D-Del.

“The faster we decarbonize our economy, the sooner we won’t have to worry about this,” said Rep. Sean Casten, D-Ill. “Until then, don’t forget the obvious: people who sell oil want to sell at the highest possible price. That is just as true for domestic as foreign producers.”

“Taking off the gloves” while dropping their pants.

After Biden cut oil production in his own country, he gets angry at another country because they won’t increase their production to make up the the production that he cut.

We in a crisis because:

I. It’s Saudi Arabia’s fault
2. It’s Biden’s fault
3. It’s no one’s fault because it was unforseen

      5. It’s Elon Musk’s fault for not building Teslas fast enough

Valerie in reply to Peabody. | October 5, 2022 at 5:27 pm

Nope. Teslas plug into the grid, and the grid runs on oil and coal.

In California, bad policy has reduced nuclear energy and hydroelectric power. The batteries they need to theoretically smooth out the gaps in wind and solar energy do not yet exist.

An odd bit of history: when much of New York City was electrified with Direct Current, there WERE huge banks of lead-acid batteries that could be placed on line in the evening when everyone started turning on their incandescent lights. This was done to provide enough power to serve the needs while extra generators were brought on line.

The Democrats really do maintain a surprisingly small black bag of “solutions” that they keep returning to over and over because each one once worked so well for them.

Try as they might, administration puppeteers were entirely unable to find any remotely viable pathways to a solution to this problem using the tried and true “get vaccinated,” “wear a mask,” or “call another white person a racist insurrectionary domestic terrorist” options.* Even the “Arkancide option” got tabled, because a solution would require too many more than a discreet number of victims of sudden-onset existential depression.

“The White House is “having a spasm and panicking,”
Someone needs to remind bin Salman that “choke play” is not typically part of a Boomer’s erotic repertoire.

*Think I’m kidding? Remember when Joe Biden publicly cautioned that “a vital part of preparing for hurricane season is to get vaccinated now?” I’m not making this shit up. Nobody can make this shit up.

Fat_Freddys_Cat | October 5, 2022 at 3:55 pm

They’re panicking, eh?

It reminds me of the scene in Blazing Saddles where Bart and his friend end up in quicksand and Slim Pickens declares “We’re in trouble now!”; Bart looks at his friend and sarcastically remarks “They in trouble.”

    MattMusson in reply to Fat_Freddys_Cat. | October 5, 2022 at 4:43 pm

    Energy is Wealth.

Restrict supply, drive up prices and you force working people into Poverty.

CommoChief in reply to MattMusson. | October 5, 2022 at 9:47 pm

The nations that produce raw commodities; oil, minerals, industrial metals, grain and so on who have been treated in their eyes poorly by what many perceive as a neo mercantile system by the West are making a very clear point here.

The Central Banks of the West have over the past fifty years printed huge amounts of money, flooding the world with liquidity. That lowers the value of the money used to pay for commodities. Many of these same commodity rich Nations have loaned the payments received back to the same Western Nations via purchase of sovereign debt.

They are tired of the Western Nations using their control of the international financial system and their Central Bank policies to undermine them by reducing the value of their commodities and their financial holdings.

OPEC+ sent a clear signal earlier this year with an announced reduction of 100K barrels just after Biden’s visit to Saudi. This is the delivery of what the signal promised. Reduced production in the face of continued attempts by the US and other Western Nations to reduce the price of oil. They want a price above $85 and unless the West increases supply by drilling their own reserves they should expect to pay that price.

And then Congress in the form of Slim Pickens throws a lifeline of money… to the hand cart of Ukraine.

I’m waiting for them to put a gun to their own head and threatening to shoot.

The stupidity of Democrats on “clean energy” knows no bounds:

“This OPEC+ announcement should serve as a reminder to all of us that true American energy independence comes from clean energy,” said Senate Environment Committee Chairman Tom Carper, D-Del.

Sorry Tom, you are just swapping one dependency for another. We make almost no solar panels and very few battery cells. We mine practically none of the metals needed for turbines and batteries. China is a major source for all of the above.

“The faster we decarbonize our economy, the sooner we won’t have to worry about this,” said Rep. Sean Casten, D-Ill. “Until then, don’t forget the obvious: people who sell oil want to sell at the highest possible price. That is just as true for domestic as foreign producers.”

No they don’t want to sell at the highest possible price. They want to sell at the market clearing price… where supply and demand are in balance.

They see how your party has stupidly looked to shut down domestic energy production and how our dementia addled president has blown through the SPR (the # of barrels is irrelevant, its the days supply that is key and we are now under 20 days I believe) so now the OPEC ministers know they have us over a barrel (no pun intended) and will exploit it in their favor.

MattMusson in reply to Massinsanity. | October 5, 2022 at 4:45 pm

Solar and Wind energy return 5 units of energy for every unit invested. This is equivalent to cutting and burning cord wood.

    It cannot support civilization.

Arminius in reply to Massinsanity. | October 5, 2022 at 6:18 pm

It’s not stupidity. The Biden crime family has been well paid to outsource our energy sector to the CCP.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/biden-s-trip-china-son-hunter-2013-comes-under-new-n1061051

Two weeks after returning from this trip China bought the mining rights for cobalt in the DRC from an American company. 60% of the world’s known cobalt reserves are in the DRC. If we were to attempt to build a “green” energy grid (there’s nothing clean nor green about it; it’s toxic and I don’t see how replacing CO2 with sulfur hexaflauride which is 24,000 times a more potent greenhouse gas makes sense if that’s what you care about) we’d be drilling for oil and mining coal. After all, if a typical magical windmill that converts wind into electricity requires 44 tons of plastics (hydrocarbons) and 900 tons of steel then we’d have to strip mine the earth. Obviously I’m leaving out a lot more, such as strip mining the earth for copper. We have copper in the U.S. but we’re not mining for it. The same environazis who won’t let us drill for oil won’t let us mine for copper.

Yet we can’t build this magical “clean, green” grid without it. We’d need it for everything from the windings in the generators in those magical windmills to the transmission lines.

Of course we’re not building a goddam thing. The Biden crime family has been paid to sell out the U.S. to China, and Joe Biden is delivering.

Frankly the Marx Brothers would be more competent than the Biden Administration.

“Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.” -Groucho Marx

Describes the Biden regime to a “T”…

At Biden’s direction, the Energy Dept. will deliver another 10 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to the market next month.

Domestic oil production has dropped 3 million barrels from 13 million per day under Biden’s watch. So that 10 million more barrels he now wants to pilfer from our reserves is 3 days normal supply and some change (assuming he aren’t selling it to the Chinese again that is).

That’s not going to get you past this weekend much less to the mid-terms. So what next Joe?

Pro tip – Massively depleting your reserves is a remarkably stupid thing to do before you go trying to negotiate a price with your suppliers.

Arminius in reply to Gosport. | October 5, 2022 at 6:21 pm

Normal supply. Imagine if we had a national emergency. Like a conflict with China. Beijing Joe Biden remains true to his paymasters.

SPR used to stand for Strategic Petroleum Reserve and was designed for national emergencies.

Now it’s the Swipable Political Resource and is used to bail out crap political decisions… and it’s about out of gas.

I continue to be impressed by the talents exhibited by the “adults” that have thankfully been back in charge since 1/21/21.

Trump gave the Saudis a pass on murdering a journalist so that the Saudis owed him a favor.

Biden did the opposite and got the opposite of a favor out of it.

Let’s see….a green agenda that calls Saudis, Kuwaitis, and the other oil countries a bunch of earth destroying villains. Why would they listen to anything he has to say or help his cause?

Tin pot dictator. Doesn’t think things through. Just issued commands and blames everyone else when the results don’t measure up to his expectations. Incompetence throughout the administration. I think we’re in for another stompy-footed finger wagging soon.

A few weeks ago gas here in the central valley/ca dropped to $4.95/g (cash not cards) Arco then surged back to $5.70ish. Diesel never dropped below $6.00/g.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | October 5, 2022 at 4:47 pm

All hell is going to break loose right after the election (no matter how it goes) because the oil from the SPR will stop and prices are going to shoot into the stratosphere. Everything is going to break … and at the same time the lame duck Congress and Joetato are going to try and ram through the worst America-killing legislation they can dream up. It’s going to be really, really ugly.

BierceAmbrose | October 5, 2022 at 4:50 pm

Didn’t we do OPEC-instigated oil shortages and economic shocks in the 1970s? Oh, right. Current generations gotta make us do that again, because they missed out.

They seem to have the same take on plagues.

I recall Sarah Palin saying Drill Baby Drill. I wonder if that would work?

Uh-oh, looks like OPEC has picked on the wrong guy:

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/10/05/joe-biden-caught-on-hot-mic-no-one-fcks-with-a-biden/

Angry Grampa is really pissed now! Don’t get in his way!

Buy oil and gas stocks. The US has to refill the SPR. It will need 180 million barrels. That means there’s a new buyer in the market. Don’t think Russia or Saudi Arabia is inclined to help.

Today’s move by Brandon is nothing more than an attempt to jawbone oil prices down going into the elections. But like you say, it has to be replaced later. Stupid beyond belief.

Arminius in reply to Pasadena Phil. | October 5, 2022 at 6:33 pm

I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy. Sure, maybe Joe Biden is merely stupid. But the thing is, has Joe Biden merely been wrong on everything for the last 50 years? Or does he have it in for us? I honestly can’t believe anymore that the destruction he’s wreaking on this country is by accident.

Peabody in reply to Arminius. | October 5, 2022 at 7:30 pm

“I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy”

It’s a close shave, but after Biden’s dementia began taking a heavy toll, some other people behind the scenes are no doubt orchestrating our downfall.

There is no way this is not planned and it precedes Brandon. WEF has been planning this since 1973 and bringing the world’s elite politicians and cultural influencers for their annual brainwashing at great expense to the attendees. If you plot these Davos students throughout the national maps, the global government jumps right out at you. This isn’t about governments or political parties. It’s about Davos functionaries embedded in governments throughout the Western world acting in concert to bring about the “Big Reset”.

We used to be called conspiracy theorists for even suggesting that but today, the Fuhrer himself, Klaus Schwab boldly writes a book about his plans. Man we be stupid sometimes.

Valerie in reply to Arminius. | October 5, 2022 at 8:12 pm

I don’t think he has it in for us, he’s simply out for himself. He gets his cut, and that is the only thing that matters to him.

henrybowman in reply to Arminius. | October 5, 2022 at 11:42 pm

Whether it’s Biden or not-Biden, the probabilities have already spoken. All this destruction is deliberate. The only remaining question is whether it’s deliberate through misguided leftist stupidity, or deliberate through a coordinated plan to hamstring the continent.

This is even bigger than everyone here has yet realized.

First off, the Evil Trump wanted to buy American oil for $24/bbl but the Dems blocked it. On his begging tour a while back, Senile Joe offered to buy Saudi oil for $80/bbl if they’d keep production up. The Saudis laughed.

https://michaelshellenberger.substack.com/p/bidens-secret-promise-to-opec-backfires

Secondly, Bloombery moved a story today saying that the Russians can easily cut their output by 3 million bbl. This matters a lot more than the OPEC+ cut, which when double-counting is removed will be an 800,000 bbl reduction.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-10-05/oil-price-cap-plan-spurs-fear-it-could-trigger-russia-output-cut

Eventually, when you don’t know WTF you’re doing, it matters.

It looks to me like the pedophile shot his wad too early with the SPR releases. I wonder if he learned that from the young men he likes so much.

Trump had good relations with Saudi kingdom. Joe likes the mullahs. That could be a big factor. Maybe this their way of saying FJB using oil. Very creative.

    Ironclaw in reply to r2468. | October 5, 2022 at 11:02 pm

They’re too kind, oil is a good lubricant. They should be bending over that old pedophile and doing him dry.

Two years ago, the United States was energy independent, was a net exporter. We had it all, Slow Joe and his regime threw it away. Now our dim bulb in chief begs Commies and Arabs for oil. The whole world is laughing at us.

I wonder if Brandon is going to dump an Iran deal into our laps before the election, “to save the day”.

Dan Bongino on Fox tonight said that Biden is the worst President by a mile, “makes Obama look like George Washington”.

Know what will be the best move to decarbonise our economy and ensure energy independence?
Approving more oil drilling and pushing a fast track for more nuclear power.

Democrats screwed the world. They. Used environmental hysteria called global warming to cause a cataclysmic dislocation in the energy markets whilst making Putin rich. Now we have threats of nuclear war. The most consequential unforced error in US history.

Even after all these years I still find myself amazed at the utter stupidity of our supposed intellectual and moral superiors.

Gas in Phoenix, AZ is already back to $4.99 a gallon. Two weeks ago it was as low as $4.19 a gallon.

Such a popular president.
