California Residents Forced to Prepare for Rolling Blackouts as State Leadership Pushes ‘Green’ Initiatives

The operator of California’s power grid is advising state residents to prepare for rolling outages because of a heatwave. Governor Gavin Newsom constantly brags about the state’s commitment to green energy, but he can’t even keep the power on.
How will they power all the electric cars once they ban gas-powered vehicles if they can’t keep the power on?

California power grid operator issues stage 3 alert level, says rotating power outages ‘very possible’
California’s power grid operator declared a stage 3 energy emergency alert Tuesday evening, warning that rotating power outages were “very possible” as a brutal heat wave walloping the state pushed electricity demand to its limits.
“Energy Emergency Alert 3 with rotating #power outages very possible. Please reduce your energy use,” The California Independent System Operator (ISO) tweeted.
Several hours later, at 8 p.m., the ISO ended the alert which was initially scheduled to continue until 9 p.m.
The grid operator said energy conservation “played a big part in protecting electric grid reliability.”
“Thank you, California!” it added in a tweet Tuesday evening.

Some 67,000 Californians were without power Monday evening, according to powerotage.us, while ongoing power outages affected more than 40,000 Pacific Gas and Electric Company customers across 28 counties.

As you may know, when something like this happens, the media plays a game on who or what is to blame. If a Republican is in charge, the Republican is blamed, but Democrat leadership is never to blame:

Many of these recent electricity demand records that are falling were set in 2005-6 or earlier. The state population has grown significantly since then so the government has had plenty of time to do the planning. Yet our electricity generation capacity is still the same. And the distribution facilities have been allowed to deteriorate while PG&E and SoCal Edison are rewarded for all of the fires they set. SCE is responsible for a current major fire in LA.
CA is the 6th largest economy on earth and we pay more taxes than anyone while being the biggest parasite sucking on the national teat. Yet we have 3rd world transportation and power systems. Listening the Hair Gel everyday “advising us” to cut back our usage and not recharge our electric cars is infuriating.
We are PAYING to be a 1st class modern economy. It is not too much to expect our government to provide the modern comforts and plan ahead. They have no problem finding billions to fund “bullet” trains to nowhere that never seem to get built. We send money to Ukraine and take in the world’s poorest and least skilled populations.
This is a man-made problem that has been in the works for decades now and the day of reckoning has arrived. We ALL, not just CA (you hear that?) keep voting for the Uniparty corruption. We gleefully vote our constitutional rights away as if we can vote them back in if it doesn’t work out.

Exactly. I don’t hate Texas. I have friends and clients there and used to visit every other year for a while but I really do believe that unless Texans retake control of their cities, they will end up like CA. Same is true everywhere in the US. People who don’t think so are living in blissful ignorance. It’s a trade-off between safety in numbers vs solitary obscure existence out of view from the zombies populating our cities. That’s why I am finding it difficult to leave CA. It’s not so much about red vs blue, it’s about finding somewhere that is far enough away from big cities (I prefer small towns) but not isolated from modern amenities. I kind of like electricity. That’s why I like Prescott AZ.

Vistra (NYSE: VST) today announced that its DeCordova Energy Storage Facility in Granbury, Texas, is online and storing and releasing electricity to the ERCOT grid in time for another hot Texas summer. The 260-megawatt/260 megawatt-hour battery energy storage project is the largest of its kind in the Lone Star State.
Major success with the installation of 260mw of battery storage – enough to power 130,000 homes during average electric usage (52,000 homes during summer peak usage)
Note that the storage is for only one hour. ONE HOUR!

We get so much hysteria from the alleged leaders and planners, about the State’s inability to deliver the basics of life. They beg and plead for people to conserve. People do. Then, the rates go up, but somehow, the rolling crisis never goes away.
I saw three rounds of this with water, and a parallel campaign with electricity.
Of course, they had to shut down the nuclear plant, and waste half — half!– the water on bait fish in some places.
I live in the sanest part of the State (San Diego County) where services are (mostly) supplied, but the cost is on par with the mortgage on your average house.
Also, this particular electrical crisis is not exactly what it seems. Car-charging is not a problem — if you regularly charge your car at night. I plug mine in, and it waits until super-off-peak time to start charging. I see no difference, so far.
They are imposing pain on people who work. Those people already pay a premium price for electricity from 4-9 pm, because that’s when everybody goes home. Families are most affected. They want you to pre-cool your house too. How does that work?
Well, if you have a Google thermostat, you can schedule cooling so that the place is decently comfortable when you get home, and it will sort of hold a decent temperature until bedtime. Then you can cool, again. Google thermostats can be cut off, remotely.
Pre-cooling keeps the payments to the utility up, while still imposing pain on the consumer.
It’s all about fundraising from taxpayers, again.
They are bringing in more people to reduce demand. /s
