Acting NOAA Hurricane Director Tells Don Lemon Twice You Cannot Blame Climate Change for Hurricane Ian

“…on the whole, on the cumulative, a climate change may be making storms worse. But to link it to any one event, I would caution against them.”

Major props to Jamie Rohme, the acting director at the NOAA National Hurricane Center, because I would have lost it on CNN’s Don Lemon.

Lemon thinks he is a genius, a know-it-all. We saw a royal expert shut him up with the truth about slavery and reparations. Yeah, he didn’t like that.

Lemon tried it again, but this time with Rohme concerning Hurricane Ian. Lemon tried to get Rohme to admit Hurricane Ian is an intense hurricane because of climate change.

Rohme refused to abandon the science or the importance of warning people about the danger of the hurricane.

Who cares that at the time of the interview, Hurricane Ian was on Florida’s doorstep, ready to unleash its wrath on people and their homes and businesses? It’s all about climate change! Leftists have to make it all about themselves and their agenda:

DON LEMON: Yes, that’s a big area. So, meteorologists, Jamie, have said that this storm could be entering another period of rapid intensification. Can you tell us what this is and what effect climate change has on this phenomenon?

JAMIE ROHME: Well, we can come back and talk about climate change at a later time. I want to focus on the here and now. We think the rapid intensification is probably almost done. There could be a little bit more intensification as it’s still over the warm waters of the Eastern Gulf of Mexico, but I don’t think we’re going to get any more rapid intensification.

If you look here, you can actually see pretty interesting for your viewers. You can actually see a second eye wall forming around the inner eye wall, and that’s basically the second eye wall has overtaken the original eye wall, and that should arrest development.

LEMON: So, listen, I just — I’m just trying to get that you said you want to talk about climate change, but what — what effect does climate change have on this phenomenon that — that is happening now. Because it seems these storms are intensifying. That’s the question here.

ROHME: I don’t think you can link climate change to any one event –

LEMON: Okay.

ROHME: — on the whole, on the cumulative, a climate change may be making storms worse. But to link it to any one event, I would caution against them.

LEMON: Okay. Well, they — listen, I grew up there and these storms are intensifying something is causing them to intensify. So, this storm is just — it’s a massive one. Its effects are also being felt in the southern part of Florida.

For the love of God, Lemon. Rohme tried to educate people about the importance and significance of the second eye wall. He wanted the viewers and residents of Florida to know that a deadly storm was heading their way.

But noooooo. Lemon wanted to make it all about climate change. After all, he’s from Florida! That makes him more expertier than the expert.

Disgusting. Shame on you, Lemon. It disgusts me when people do this, but it’s especially horrific when lives and livelihoods are literally in danger. As if we needed more proof that it’s all about Lemon and no one else.

This guy is going to get crucified for now bending the knee to St. Greta.

But he means well which makes it okay.

Good ol’ me, myself, and Lemon. Doesn’t understand the clear and present danger of the now.

Lemon is a disgrace. His days at CNN are numbered.

Don Lemon shamelessly lied to Jamie Rohme, and to the CNN audience (emphasis added):

DON LEMON: * * * Can you tell us what this [i.e., rapid intensification] is and what effect climate change has on this phenomenon?

JAMIE ROHME: Well, we can come back and talk about climate change at a later time. I want to focus on the here and now. * * *

* * *

LEMON: So, listen, I just — I’m just trying to get that you said you want to talk about climate change,

Mr. Rohme very clearly indicated that he did not want to talk about climate change, but he would be willing to discuss it some other time.

When there are more hurricanes, blame climate change
When there are fewer hurricanes, blame climate change
When hurricanes are intense, blame climate change
When hurricanes are weak, blame climate change.

Don’t like the weather? Blame climate change.

Milhouse in reply to Ironman. | September 28, 2022 at 8:49 pm

That’s why “climate change” is so much more useful than “global warming”. Climate change is undeniable — the climate is always changing in some direction. Average temperatures are always moving either up or down. Warming may or may not be happening at any given time, but change is definitely happening.

Good for NOAA rejecting the cargo and standing with science.

On the ‘new’ CNN you’ll be able to watch ‘objective journalist’ Don ‘Stinky Fingers’ Lemon three hours a day, M-F, instead of just one.

You will be able to watch Lemon dare Licht to fire is ass for three hours a day, M-F, instead of only one.

Sponges are smarter than he is. Why is he even on TV? Crazy

If we’d stop repeating everything Don Lemon, AOC and their ilk say, no one would hear them.

Stop repeating their drivel and giving them air.

Lemon gonna get demoted again if he keeps this up.

The NOAA dude may get a demerit for not reinforcing the narrative when he was invited to. In his government job, that’s the equivalent of dereliction of duty.

You nailed it, Groty. Don should have said to him, “Hey, Mr. NOAA, the ONLY reason you are here is to parrot the Party line. If you believe otherwise, then your priorities are alarmingly unwoke and the gov’t agency that funds NOAA should be advised immediately. You care about NOAA funding? Then get the Party line right, and repeat it when I prompt you! I would hate to see anything interrupt NOAA funding, dude.”

Donny the retard was toeing the line, the NOAA guy will probably end up with demerits for not pushing the government lie.

    Demoted?

He’ll just end up at Harvard with Tater

I remember when they used to call it global warming. Then there was a 20-year pause and they had to change the name to “climate change.”

I remember when they were predicting an ice age by 2000. I must have missed that.

I remember when they predicted that Manhattan island would be under water, Must have missed that one too.

I remember when they predicted that the north pole would be ice-free by 2013. Yeah, that was bullshit too.

I remember all of these wrong predictions, yet these morons expect us to destroy our entire way of life based on crap where they’ve never been right. They can take that shove it up whatever bodily cavity they’re most comfortable with. Now I think I’ll go burn a stack of tires.

When NOAA doesn’t play the game, just call on Yahoo:

Hurricane Ian packs ‘catastrophic’ storm surge threat made worse by climate change

Fuck the science. Follow the journalism.

Is there actually any hard evidence that the intensity of the storms is increasing? A couple years back “Coyote” (Warren Meyers) posted some data that showed the NUMBER of hurricanes remained steady over a period of the past 10 years, The number that actually make landfall varies somewhat widely.

No one reports on storms that remain at sea and do not threaten people.

Not sure about intensity. But if you fit a regression line through the data labeled “Hurricanes” graphed on this slide, you’ll observe the decline in frequency of hurricanes between 1970 thru 2013. John Christy prepared the slide for a presentation to Congress in 2013. He credits Dr. Ryan Maue for supplying the “Global Tropical Cyclone Frequency” data.

I may be wrong, but I think cyclones and hurricanes are synonyms. We in the US call them hurricanes and people in Asia and the Far East call them cyclones.

Milhouse in reply to Groty. | September 29, 2022 at 10:46 am

Cyclone, hurricane, and typhoon are all the same thing, except for location. If the storm is in the Atlantic or the northeastern Pacific (north of the equator and east of the International Dateline), it’s a hurricane. If it’s in the South Pacific or the Indian Ocean it’s a cyclone. And if it’s in the northwestern Pacific it’s a typhoon.

If Lemon had a lick of sense he could have gotten his propaganda point across without this humiliation. He could have just taken the L and not pursued the matter further with this guy, and then have a separate segment with an “expert” who would say the “correct” things.

I always laugh out loud when I’m told that these people are our intellectual betters.

Some psych profs at Stony Brook did a study many years ago where they administered IQ tests to people and then also a survey to discern how the individual rated themself among others. They found a consistent inverse correlation, where smart people didn’t see themselves as being really smart (they admitted and/or were aware that they didn’t know a lot of stuff), and stupid people over-rated their abilities (they thought that they knew everything). Sort of a Cliff Claven outcome.

I suspect that when Don was young that a kindly grandmother told him that he was special, and he believed it, a little too much.

eventually someone at cnn is going to realize they can get a trainload of other people just as black as dawn and just as stupid as dawn but for a hell of a lot less money

” WHAT are we paying this fool ? “
