Trump Calls For Release of Mar-a-Lago Search Warrant And Evidence, As Gov’t Leak Campaign Starts

As I warned when this started: “Be very suspicious of anything you hear in the media attributable to anonymous sources. The supposed leaks from unidentified persons supposedly with knowledge are either FBI/DOJ whispering in the ear of reporter-scribes which may or may not reflect reality ….”

https://twitter.com/BMorgenstern45/status/1312935154374053888 - public domain govt photo

At his press conference yesterday, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that the government had filed a motion to unseal the Search Warrant and inventory of items seized. The motion does not appear to include the underlying affidavits to support the warrant, though that’s unclear, it depends on what the scope of releasing the “warrant” includes.

Otherwise, no information was provided other than that Garland himself approved the decision to obtain a search warrant. (It remains unclear how much involvement Garland had in the way the raid was carried out.)

The mainstream media was ecstatic — Garland called Trump’s bluff! was a frequent headline.

At midnight last night Trump called Garland’s bluff, and called for the release of the warrant and all evidence:

“Not only will I not oppose the release of documents related to the unAmerican, unwarranted, and unnecessary raid and break-in of my home in Palm Beach, Florida, Mar-a-Lago, I am going a step further by ENCOURAGING the immediate release of those documents even though they have been drawn up by radical left Democrats and possible future political opponents, who have a strong and powerful vested interest in attacking me, much as they have done for the last 6 years.”

* * *

“My poll numbers are the strongest they have ever been, fundraising by the Republican Party is breaking all records, and midterm elections are fast approaching. This unprecedented political weaponization of law enforcement is inappropriate and highly unethical. The world is watching as our Country is being brought to a new low, not only on our border, crime, economy, energy, national security, and so much more, but also with respect to our sacred elections!”

As with Garland, it’s unclear if Trump is calling for release of the supporting affidavits, though the language suggests he is.

As of this writing, there are no new filings on the court’s electronic docket.

Last night the leak war against Trump went into high gear. The Washington Post reported based on anonymous sources, that FBI searched Trump’s home to look for nuclear documents and other items, sources say:

Classified documents relating to nuclear weapons were among the items FBI agents sought in a search of former president Donald Trump’s Florida residence on Monday, according to people familiar with the investigation.

But there are no specifics, it’s all very vague and suspicious:

The people who described some of the material that agents were seeking spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation. They did not offer additional details about what type of information the agents were seeking, including whether it involved weapons belonging to the United States or some other nation. Nor did they say if such documents were recovered as part of the search.

Yet it has created a feeding frenzy.

In my prior post I warned that such leaks would come:

Be very suspicious of anything you hear in the media attributable to anonymous sources. The supposed leaks from unidentified persons supposedly with knowledge are either FBI/DOJ whispering in the ear of reporter-scribes which may or may not reflect reality, or people who don’t have actual knowledge, or sources who exist only in the imagination of the reporters. It’s all an unreliable web of deception.

Trump denies the nuclear story:

We have been here before with leak wars on Trump. For the entirety of his 2016 campaign through 2020, there were almost daily “bombshells” about supposed Russia collusion that created 24-48 hr news and social media frenzies, inevitably to fade as facts proved the allegations wrong or distorted. Yet we went through this endless news frenzy cycle based of fake leaks from the government, and now we’re back at it.

The problem is that these current accusations are unverifiable and non-disprovable – so they are worthless until actual evidence comes out. Yet it creates the narrative Democrats and Never-Trump Republicans want.

Perhaps we will learn more today about the facts.

Trump set them up for this

He did have that very professional video up an running pretty quickly…

And it might explain why they spent NINE hours trying to find something (unless they were leaving something…).

taurus the judge in reply to Dimsdale. | August 12, 2022 at 9:51 am

Its possible but I SERIOUSLY DOUBT they “left” anything

It definitely feels to me like that was the plan.

Simultaneously throwing everybody out (including the lawyers) while trying to demand that they turn cameras off was a dead giveaway that they were intending on doing something shady as hell that they didn’t want evidence of.

taurus the judge in reply to Olinser. | August 12, 2022 at 10:26 am

Possibly (I have a slightly different opinion now that some additional information has come out but its flexible because I don’t trust the media to report anything accurately)

Here’s the detail that made me rethink ( that’s where the devil always is)

Its the “norm” to use intimidation during a warrant execution ( it does help keep the peace and can assist in revealing other stuff)- that doesn’t flag much with me.

The fact that Trumps lawyer was “close by” and ready to get there (that’s a rarity in itself)- then the refusal to turn off the CTTV was the other.

I think that’s what got the FBI off their game and it went downhill fast from there. (They knew they were screwed)

I think Trump performed a “disinformation op” and they bought it. I think they went in there “rip roaring” to finally get the “case cracker” for J6 and maybe with a classification cherry on top.

Then they realized they were caught red handed in broad daylight with Trump watching them on a screen. At that point, they were just going through the motions.

I believe it “hit home” when they opened Capone’s safe.

Now they have to answer for it and Trump is waiting to smack them down.

That’s my current thought on what I’m seeing (subject to change)

CommoChief in reply to Olinser. | August 12, 2022 at 11:32 am

          Taurus,

Given what we know right now and the large amount we don’t yet know, your analysis seems solid.

taurus the judge in reply to Olinser. | August 12, 2022 at 12:18 pm

          @Chief

          Thanks,

Its a hypothesis that basically fits what it being touted in the press.

Not trying to sell it and open to revision as required

Gosport in reply to Olinser. | August 12, 2022 at 3:19 pm

To add to the tuarus hypothesis, I suspect that the bait Trump used were all the “classified” documents he posses regarding the many set-ups that they tried on him while he was in office from Russia-gate to the Ukranian fiasco.

The ones he kept trying to release in his defense back then but was prevented from doing so by threats of bring charged with ‘obstructing an investigation’ or obstructing justice.

They would do anything to get their hands on those to defuse him using them on the left in the future. Now he may have forced their release in the way most damaging to the corrupt regime… they asked for it.

The FBI Confiscated all the evidence that Trump was using in his Civil Suit against the FBI and DOJ.

        Bugging devices come to mind.

They were looking for super secret documents about Nazi flying saucer bases on the moon. I heard it from a guy, who knows a lady, who has a friend who read it in the New York Times.

Trust but verify, and trust is apparently not much of an option anymore….

The_Mew_Cat in reply to taurus the judge. | August 12, 2022 at 10:16 am

Here is what I think happened. Trump figured out who the FBI rat(s) were on his staff. So, Trump and his family whispered all kinds of tall tales when in their earshot, and the FBI bought all those tales hook line and sinker. So of course, they searched for nuclear weapons documents – and found nothing. All they got was the boxes of ordinary memento crap that were in the basement that the Archives already knew about. But now they are stuck. They must double down to the max. They must prosecute Trump for every technical violation of the Presidential Records Act, and try it in DC before judge Emmett Sullivan. A DC jury of 12 Democrats will certainly return a conviction, and the only way they will allow a plea bargain is if Trump agrees never to run for office again. It will become a major spectacle.

taurus the judge in reply to The_Mew_Cat. | August 12, 2022 at 10:48 am

That nuclear document stuff is a chapter from Grimm’s and worth about as much.

It doesn’t exist. Don’t buy the lie. Its a “Hail Mary” to try to give some legitimacy to the DOJ.

Always evaluate with facts- not emotion or media truth

First , if it were true- Trump declassified it so its worth nothing from a legal standpoint. (POTUS is the absolute authority on that)

Second- if he has this, its been known about from the beginning (GSA does an inventory) so if it wasn’t an issue for 18 odd months- its not one now.

Third- the unknowns about the Subpoena and Trump’s compliance with same.

      Fourth- the search warrant fiasco

Granted, only successful prosecution can save them at this point but they have effectively ruined any chance of that UNLESS Trump actually “IS” guilty of something (which I doubt)

The_Mew_Cat in reply to taurus the judge. | August 12, 2022 at 12:26 pm

My guess is they didn’t find anything they were looking for but it doesn’t matter. They will prosecute every technical violation of the PRA that they can. It doesn’t even have to be about classified documents – classification is a red herring. They will prosecute over unclassified documents that are considered “Presidential Records” that were retained even temporarily. They will have one count of violation for every item, including napkins with notes on them, etc… that they consider a presidential record, and will present the case to a DC jury under the most biased judge they can get through judge shopping. They will prosecute every little violation that no other ex-president was ever prosecuted for, but they don’t care how political it looks. Their pride and self-worth are on the line here. They must double down to the max. They have no choice, and they have the total backing of Biden.

“That nuclear document stuff is a chapter from Grimm’s and worth about as much.”

So Bill and Hill are chatting over a jug of Chardonnay…
Hillary: So the news says the FBI trashed Trump’s entire house to recover documents containing nuclear weapons secrets.
Bill: Aren’t you so glad we sold all of ours to China back in ’98?

Fifth – If those ‘nuclear documents’ existed and were such a critical matter why weren’t they addressed on June 3rd when the Feds were at MAL picking up all those documents that Trump already cooperated in turning over?

taurus the judge | August 12, 2022 at 9:15 am

IF THE MEDIA ACCOUNTS ARE ACCURATE ( the biggest “if” there is)…

Information indicates Trump was “prepared” for this and watched it on CCTV so we can reasonably believe whatever was removed was known to him and no surprises there.

I suspect Trump is now goading the DOJ to let them lie themselves into a corner before he starts lobbing the truth out there.

I also think the DOJ knows this but is in too deep now.

I know you already mentioned it is a big if but do you really think the FBI doesn’t know how to turn of the CCTV while doing it?

taurus the judge in reply to Danny. | August 12, 2022 at 9:44 am

Danny, that’s the difference between those of you who read about these things versus those of us who actually do it and understand the importance of it.

Of course they know how but they also know they best not ( which is why they didn’t). I’ve been on both sides of that situation myself.

I am reasonably confident the agents in the op realized real quick they walked into their own trap and were to vested in riding the tiger at that point to just pull out.

      That’s what prompted Garland’s “whateveritwas”.

They know Trump has the upper hand now in a highly visible and vulnerable state for them.

Olinser in reply to Danny. | August 12, 2022 at 10:23 am

Right, because they haven’t invented things called ‘logins’ and ‘passwords’, the FBI just has magical powers that can just automatically turn off all cameras instantly everywhere whenever they want to.

MattMusson in reply to Danny. | August 12, 2022 at 10:43 am

      J. Edgar Hoover is secretely still alive and he sent Agents into Mar-a-lago because he covets Melania’s wardrobe.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to Danny. | August 12, 2022 at 10:51 am

Why is Danny getting downticks for stating a belief? And, with manufacturers willing to bend over and spread for government agencies, there might be back doors into a lot of this equipment. Huawei comes to mind.

Danny gets downticks because he fools no one but you apparently.

I wouldn’t know how to disrupt wired security cameras short of unplugging them, or killing their POE power source or turning off the NVR. Wireless could conceivably be jammed on the common frequencies (2.4g / 5g).

I didn’t know such things existed until a few years ago when my BIL complained about all the nieces and nephews who came to family Christmas celebration were always on their cellpones – which at the time were 3G. Jammers could be had for under $200 then – but were potentially illegal so we never tried it.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the gov’t had devices that could be plugged into a common wall socket that would establish a kind of faraday cage using the household wiring – or at least create interference with electronic devices using wiring like an antenna. I’m using 10 year old ethernet over powerline tech to bring some remote wireless security cameras into my networked security system and NVR. Running ethernet over powerline doesn’t affect electrical at all – just exploits bandwidth. Danny’s question / cynicism is legit.

Gosport in reply to Danny. | August 12, 2022 at 3:28 pm

Reportedly, the FBI demanded the security cameras be turned off “for officer safety” and the Trump people told them to pound sand.

“I suspect Trump is now goading the DOJ to let them lie themselves into a corner before he starts lobbing the truth out there.”

Sorry, but I lived through enough “Q” and “kraken” shit to know when our side is smoking opium.

Never forget how many things Obama, Bush, and Clinton took from the White House when talking about this. Don’t let the people in your life who are on the edge and don’t know who they will support be tricked mention the number of similar documents Obama has in his possession.

I am interested in whether the claim that Trump was subpoenaed in June is true and if so, what was in THAT one.

I am also interested in the details about that second lock investigating FBI agents instructed Trump to add to the basement room storing the documents. Did the FBI add that lock themselves with their own lock and give a key to Trump?

Very difficult getting a clear story about anything these days. It’s all down to who we choose to believe.

taurus the judge in reply to Pasadena Phil. | August 12, 2022 at 9:56 am

    Phil

More likely that not it was a request to obey various regulatory requirements such as “double lock and key” security scenarios. ( a common requirement for classified storage and security rooms)

They didn’t “instruct’ ( as in order) but requested ( asked/suggested)

Well, in all odds that was a SCIF, so pointing out a “This doesn’t meet code” is only reasonable, and the speed at which the Trump administration fixed the deficiency speaks well to their intentions. Now if the FBI was dumb enough to try to bug the SCIF…

taurus the judge in reply to Pasadena Phil. | August 12, 2022 at 10:09 am

    @Phil

    On that subpoena

More likely than not, here is what I think will play out (in some fashion similar)

Trump complied with the subpoena as issued and he and they know it.

That subpoena could have even been “bait’ as a enhancer for this warrant (I’m betting it was)

I also bet thee DOJ “thought” ( OR WERE LED TO BELIEVE… hint…hint) there was all kinds of “good stuff” there and Trump simply didn’t let them believe otherwise.

They took the bait and are now terrified and off balance and the entire world is watching them not only walk away with nothing ( especially Trump) but with Trump having the advantage.

Lets see how this plays out.

    Reading the room….

Trump is confident and defiant- the DOJ is waffling and talking in circles… that’s telling

ABC, that fount of all that is news, said last night that Trump’s lawyer was “on the premises” and that President Trump had the subpoena and could release it whenever they wanted, but were debating on whether to do that.

Watching the MSM is just morbid curiosity.

From what I’ve read, he was only handed that one-page subpoena. Not the all important supporting document.

Dimsdale in reply to Pasadena Phil. | August 12, 2022 at 9:40 am

Exactly! Hence the cagey word play and mis-, excuse me, malreporting.

taurus the judge in reply to Pasadena Phil. | August 12, 2022 at 9:49 am

No Phil ( we must always be careful when quoting media sources because actual words matter)

That 1 pager was the WARRANT (not the subpoena)- the cover page.

Not the attachments and not the affidavit for cause.

Basically nothing- its the affidavit for cause the warrant is based on is the money document.

The items confiscated is good and necessary later but usually you know what was taken from what is missing in general terms.

Speaking of being suspicious about everything we hear, we should add the 20 Republican senators who voted to confirm Garland in the first place to that list:

Blunt, Burr, Capito, Cassidy, Collins, Cornyn, Ernst, Graham, Grassley, Inhofe, Johnson, Lankford, McConnell, Moran, Murkowski, Portman, Romney, Rounds, Thune, and Tillis

https://thefederalist.com/2022/08/09/the-20-republican-senators-who-voted-to-confirm-merrick-garland-owe-america-an-apology/

A few of them are now very vocal in attacking Garland. Just sayin’.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to Pasadena Phil. | August 12, 2022 at 10:35 am

This makes me sound like a cock-eyed optimist, but, maybe those 20 vots to “park” him in the AG slot was to make it more difficult to bring him back as an SC nominee.

I don’t see how it could do that. AG is a great position from which to be nominated. I think those 20 confirmed him simply because the president is presumptively entitled to his choice of AG, and Garland seemed like a decent enough person.

Remember that had he been nominated to the SC in 2015 he would almost certainly have been confirmed with no great fuss. At the time he seemed like the best nomination one could expect from 0bama.

Indeed he was so much more moderate than we expected from him, that I thought 0bama was bluffing in nominating him, to challenge McConnell’s announced policy of not confirming anyone. 0bama was thumbing his nose at the GOP, saying “Look, I nominated this very moderate person; will they really not confirm him?!” I half thought McConnell ought to call 0bama’s bluff and confirm Garland, thinking that if this happened 0bama would pull the nomination, which would be embarrassing for him. Clinton would certainly not have renominated him.

Gosport in reply to Milhouse. | August 12, 2022 at 5:19 pm

It might be a great position to be nominated from, if your party continued to sit in the White House. But that appears very unlikely for the foreseeable future.

Milhouse in reply to Gosport. | August 14, 2022 at 2:25 am

Huh? What has that got to do with it? Please keep up and stop throwing in irrelevancies. If you’re not sure what is the subject of discussion go back and read the comments you’re replying to. Because what you wrote makes absolutely no sense as a response to those comments.

Yea, pretty optimistic given there was no way that was ever going to happen. Let’s recall history:

McConnell engineered the blocking of Garland, an obama nominee. This would put the process in the hands of the next president.

McConnell knew the next president would be Hillary Clinton.

McConnell doesn’t do anything for this country. He did that for clinton.

Now it’s “nuclear” secrets or something. lol.

The media’s use of “sources,” unnamed usually, or “people say,” or, unfortunately, “experts” all mean they are going to speculate or lie.

Trump should release the 9hrs of CCTV video…today. Make them sweat.

taurus the judge in reply to Camperfixer. | August 12, 2022 at 9:59 am

They already are and Trump is wise to goad them.

The burden of “justification” now clearly lies with the DOJ and they know they are lying.

Worse even, they now know Trump can prove it.

They are damned if they do or not- its in Trump’s favor to let them simmer and see what else they screw up

I was thinking the same thing earlier this morning, Colonel. My dream ius to have a VERY strong non-Democrat majority in both houses, and then find a Joe McCarthy (this time, sober) to beat the drum hard about “I have a list of 374 Chinese agents in the Justice Department”, or a variation on that theme.

My sources are telling me Trump had a tactical nuclear warhead hidden in Melanias sock bag for memorabilia.

Gosport in reply to Tom M. | August 12, 2022 at 5:21 pm

Nah, he put it in the Ark of the Covenant he’s hiding in his basement.

As it turns out, the FBI found a W 80 nuclear warhead in Trump’s basement at Mar a Lago. The reason the FBI couldn’t find it in June the last time they were there, is because Trump had cleverly concealed the warhead under a bunch of McDonald’s Big Mac wrappers.

The whole thing is pathetic nonsense. “Nuclear” stuff? Please. If they had found anything of the sort during the search, it would have been leaked, Trump would be in legirons by now, thrown in SuperMax somewhere.

Just more leaks/disinformation by the Deep State. The “confidential informant” will prove to be one of the FBI agents who was on the premises in June or prior to June.

Professor, how can we trust anything that comes out of these agencies anymore? They have lied to us and misled us so many times and think we are too stupid to know. They can alter the documents and – even if that is exposed – no one will suffer any consequences. I know I am not alone – there are tens of millions of Americans that no longer believe or trust our government and its agencies and partners (including big pharma and many physicians, sad to say).

I heard speculation this morning on the news that there were instructions on how to build a nuclear device. I’m pretty sure you cant pass college physics without knowing how to build a nuclear device.

Or look it up on the internets, LOL.

The people on the news are selected for stupidity.

As you state, anyone that studies physics at the university level will know how to build a nuclear device. Getting the materials to do so presents a problem.

    henrybowman in reply to Obie1. | August 12, 2022 at 3:00 pm

I can walk you to the right stack in the MIT Engineering Library.
    Destitute students sleep in it.

The BEST explanation I have heard so far is that they were not looking for documents that would indict Trump, they were looking for documents that could indict the whole liberal establishment. Those documents are worthless while they are in charge!

I’m definitely of the opinion that this was Trump, killing two birds with one stone. 1 – The DOJ. 2 – a mole in his inner circle.

However, if this proves to be wrong, and it turns out the FBI found incriminating documents, it will take a lot to convince me that they aren’t poison pills, inserted into the files by the GSA that packaged them and shipped them to Trump, specifically to be used in case Teump started looking like a strong candidate for 2024.

It would take a thorough chain of custody analysis to convince me otherwise.

I doubt the FBI thought they could plant documents during the raid. Too big a risk of a field agent getting a conscience.

    The_Mew_Cat in reply to bigskydoc. | August 12, 2022 at 12:34 pm

DOJ now has no choice but to prosecute Trump for every minor technical violation of the PRA which no other ex-president has ever been prosecuted for. Their pride is on the line here. They can’t slink away with their tails between their legs. They have to double down to the max. They will indict and file 1 count for every item that they say should have been immediately handed over to the Archives. They will have a weak case, but they can win weak cases if they do some minimal judge shopping and have a DC jury. It will be the biggest spectacle of the century in court.

      Fat_Freddys_Cat in reply to The_Mew_Cat. | August 12, 2022 at 1:04 pm

I don’t know. I’m sure they can find a venue (as you said, D.C.) where they can technically secure a win, although I suspect Trump would promptly appeal. The thing is, in a court it would be hard to stop Trump from presenting his side of the story and having that ricocheting around the country. Making Trump a martyr might not be their best play.

Considering Judge Sullivan not only refused to close the Flynn case when the prosecution provided evidence that Gen. Flynn was innocent of the charges against him, but Sullivan also hired a completely unconstitutional biased third party to continue the prosecution and keep Flynn in court until he was finally pardoned. I’m quite positive the DOJ would be willing to find a judge even more biased to handle any court case involving Trump.

Which brings up a rather frightening thought: If indeed there are Super-Secret Nuklar Sekrets hidden in the boxes, they were transported by *GSA* a year and a half ago. How secure was that transport? Could a box of materials have been exchanged by a foreign agent? I know the answer is “probably not” but this is totally unlike Trump visiting the archives and stuffing documents into his socks. This was other people sorting and boxing and transporting, *lots* of other people, moving *lots* of boxes.

I’ll never understand all the niceties regarding the government on display.

Let us be clear, clear as a bell:

The government has lied about Donald Trump continuously. Every negative story is a lie. Every accusation is false.

The “press” are government mouthpieces, paid to distribute the lies. They are still just lies.

The government, the DOJ/FBI are nothing more than weapons against decent Americans that voted for Trump. They hate us, they wish to destroy us, and going after Trump is just the most visible way they do this.

Quit being nice to people that are trying to destroy you.
