Merrick Garland ‘Personally Approved’ Mar-a-Lago Search Warrant, Files Motion to Unseal It

Merrick Garland ‘Personally Approved’ Mar-a-Lago Search Warrant, Files Motion to Unseal It

Garland provided no details.

AG Merrick Garland admitted he personally approved the search warrant on Mar-a-Lago.

Garland said: “The department does not take such a decision lightly. Where possible, it is standard practice to seek less intrusive means as an alternative to a search and to narrowly scope any search that is undertaken.”

He also announced the DOJ filed a motion to unseal the search warrant and property receipt regarding the raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.

“Given the intense public interest presented by a search of a residence of a former President, the government believes these factors favor unsealing the search warrant, its accompanying Attachments A and B, and the Property Receipt, absent objection from the former President,” the DOJ mentioned in the motion.

Garland also tried to preach about applying the law fairly to everyone.

“Under my watch, that is precisely what the DOJ is doing.”

One more load of Bananas for the Republic.

malclave in reply to MattMusson. | August 11, 2022 at 5:01 pm

Isn’t Biden originally from Scranton PA? I’m starting to wonder if there is some Nostradamus-like quality to Chapin’s “20,000 pounds of bananas”.

The phrase ” Harry, it sucks” certainly seems to apply to Biden’s residency.

Oh, I’m sure Himmler will tell a nice stack of lies about the Gestapo raid.

This guy was a weasel in Junior high, and he’s worse today, a Lefty weasel. His fake outrage over threats received belies the fact he poked the sleeping dog one too many times but wants to blame the dog for biting him. (tiniest violin playing)

This cretin needs to find the inside of prison cell…next to HRC and a host of others.

Meant Wray..but I guess he has emerged to denounce similar “threats”. Funny how both never denounced threats against SCOTUS.

We have yet to appreciate how much of a bullet when dodged when McConnell refused to consider his nomination to the USSC. Currently we’re burdened with Kagan and the two AA appointments, the Wide Latina and one who blocked her ears during high school biology.

He should meet Jimmy Hoffa.

Nice.
This is nothing short than spitting in the face of Americans, the Constitution and the rule of law.
Merrick Garland just confirmed that he is lower than a cockroach and an enemy of the people.

R.I.P. America.

R.I.P America? Are you not paying attention? The KGB is about to decapitated and the Dems themselves may do it. The Inflation Inferno Bill is now in doubt so the 1st Expedition IRS Army may soon be killed before it is even created. Same with the latest Green Economy boondoggle.

Wonder who he was talking to during that 40 minutes and what about.
And I wonder if what he said was what he had planned to say before that conversation.

Old: Fuck Joe Biden

New: Fuck the DOJ and the FBI

Nothing learned because this was an illegal raid on an American, former president or not. Everything they say is a lie. All their evidence is fabricated. Their oaths are false.

So to summarize:

Yeah, we raided Trump, I OK’d it, and my FBI storm troopers are all boy scouts,

Trump can release whatever he has, but he has nothing because everything important is sealed.

Oh yeah, I’ve asked the Judge, who works for me, to unseal stuff. He’ll get back to you.

Barry in reply to Gosport. | August 11, 2022 at 3:18 pm

Excellent summary, concise, correct, and to the point.

A Thinker in reply to Gosport. | August 11, 2022 at 4:23 pm

Close. What DOJ asked to be disclosed was the face of the warrant, which says that based on the sealed affidavit PDJT broke laws X, Y, and Z, but never says why (or how there is proof he removed the documents or even knew they were at MAL.) Important to Biden and Garland, is the disclosure of the list of items taken. Who described the items, and are they doing their best to make Trump look bad through the list. For example, item 201 may be described as “Eyes Only HUMINT”, but be a transcript of the deposition of Steel from which it was clear that the FBI knew the RussiaGate investigation was a witch hunt. Trump would love to disclose the transcript, but can’t because the DOJ has classified (reclassified?) the document, precluding disclosure. Trump’s counsel needs to be very careful here.

Close The Fed in reply to A Thinker. | August 11, 2022 at 6:08 pm

Trump’s counsel doesn’t need to be very careful here. We all know this was a crock, and no matter what the outcome, and I mean, NO MATTER WHAT, it’s wrong, it’s all wrong.

Stalin has been reincarnated in somebody in D.C.

Barry in reply to A Thinker. | August 11, 2022 at 7:24 pm

Since Trump does not have items illegal for him to have, everything that follows is just pure corrupt hogwash, and everyone knows it.

It’s the same pure corrupt hogwash the DOJ/FBI has been pulling for 6 years now.

The best outcome from today? I’m of the opinion that within the first few weeks Trump takes the office of president for a 2nd term, he’ll decapitate the FBI and castrate the DOJ. And they both deserve it. No need for niceties, and every American will understand it and support it.

The Uniparty is now in complete disarray. They can’t keep their story straight from morning to evening. The rats have turned on each other and it’s now every man for himself, women and children be damned!

I’m expecting a steady stream of shocking revelations coming soon. I don’t know how Cocaine Turtle survives either. His days are over. How can he expect to become Senate Majority Leader now? He has spoken twice this week and he certainly didn’t look like a man in charge. He looked worried. His pick to replace him John Thune may not win re-election. His back choice John Cornyn may not want it either. All it would take is about 10-12 MAGA senators to manage herd the rest of the sociopaths fearing they are next to get with the program. The tide has turned. The fight isn’t over but the Uniparty has been fractured and they are now on their heels.

I agree that the tide of marxism has stalled. I won’t call it a win however. Rigged and crooked elections are yet to come. We’ll see if we can overcome. If not, then the country WILL descend into chaos. Americans will not stand for the corrupt uniparty forever.

It will be much harder to cheat the next time. Lots of states has adopted vote protection laws and the GOP vows to be more involved in protecting the process. Besides, Trump is setting up to win with very wide margins. The Dems just don’t have a viable candidate.

“I know it’s hard for people to believe, but this was a matter for the U.S. Attorney and the FBI,” the source told Newsweek.

That source was one of Garland’s minions trying to spin the blame away from him yesterday.

I guess the giddy kiddies aren’t impressed, either.

Still leaves some questions. WHEN did Garland approve the search warrant, before or *after* the search was conducted?
WHY was a search warrant by the FBI conducted when the Trump organization seemed by all objective standards to be cooperating with the National Archives in negotiating which records should be stored where?
WHY seal the search warrant and not announce in public that it was sealed (so thousands of left-wing whiners would cry “Why doesn’t Trump release the contents!)? Were they hoping Trump would release the contents of the warrant and therefore commit a crime?

And the biggie: If the warrant was approved by the AG, WHY did they have to find a lowly Magistrate Judge with direct connections to a certain dirty island owner to sign it.?

Fatkins in reply to georgfelis. | August 11, 2022 at 4:14 pm

I think you have some mistakes in fact. Firstly Trump should not have taken any records with him at all, it wasn’t a negotiation he was flagrantly breaking the law the moment he took the records at the end of his presidency. The reality is Trump has a rather poor record with record keeping, has mountains of evidence that his is a criminal. The real question is this why trust Trump. The notorious fraudster, liar and failed coup organiser.

Was he trying to overthrow himself?

The federal government mailed to house <— see this? the very items for which the federal government raided his house. House Oversight found classified stuff that was sent to his house. People from the DOJ subsequently visited him to secure the room this stuff was in. Trump did that. At no point has he not been cooperating.

DCam in reply to Fatkins. | August 12, 2022 at 2:51 am

Fatkins, I believe you are not ‘well-informed’ or were not afforded an opportunity to educate yourself thoroughly in American history and civics. All presidents take records and documents with them at the end of their terms. Some of the material is personal; a great deal is of course governmental and goes back to the National Archives. Some might be sensitive or classified; some is not. Obama still has thousands and thousands of pages in his possession; some he committed to returning to the National Archives. As of yet, he has not. No raid there that I recall.

Presidents are obligated to found a ‘Presidential Library’; some of the documents are used as reference material for the undertaking and some unclassified papers or letters can end up in that President’s library. As you might guess, that is an extraordinary undertaking and such reference material might well be essential to insure a successful project.

We trust Trump because he was a successful president. This country had historically low unemployment among minorities, and women. Our economy was strong and growing (track your IRA or 401K from 2017-2020); and Trump proved himself to be America First with his handling of international matters. No one invaded Ukraine at the very least, or threatened Taiwan either for that matter. That’s why many of us trust Trump, even if in 2016 he was not our first choice; he was not mine.

healthguyfsu in reply to georgfelis. | August 11, 2022 at 4:18 pm

Beat me to it….what faith is any party (US citizens, the targets of the warrants, etc.) supposed to place in a warrant that is UNSEALED AFTER it has been executed.

Constitutional Law is crystal clear that the warrant must be presented at time of execution to curtail illegal search and seizure. This is a tyrannical farce that they can’t be allowed to get away with.

Take that with your “rule of law” and shove it, garland. For this treason, I hope to see your feeble, rotten entrails turned into a decorative wreath over your tombstone such as your namesake.

This is also the same judge that was directly involved for several months in the ongoing Trump v Clinton and Clinton campaign lawsuit until he had to recuse himself. Would love to get a handle on the matters he addressed during those months and if he caused any harm to Trump’s case.
    No conflicts of interest here.

M Poppins in reply to georgfelis. | August 12, 2022 at 12:20 pm

    answer: to discredit Trump

Was there ever any serious doubt Garland personally approved this?

There were no rogue FBI agents. They do what they are told to do. Some more enthusiastically than others.

Historically the underlings in nations ruled by Leftists don’t go rogue. The consequences are usually ‘life changing’. Sometimes even deadly. Literally.

I’m not sure what it is about that weasel Garland, but every time I see him, I have a brief urge to punch him in the face. Weird, huh?

John Mitchell, from the afterlife, is jealous.

I don’t know how he can stand up there and say with a straight face that he’s applying the law equally. He’s either a sociopath or deluded

Here’s a question no one seems to be asking: Why hasn’t Garland recused himself? Why did he personally approve the raid?

Trump is personally responsible for Garland not achieving a key goal of his of becoming a Supreme Court justice. Garland is the hand-picked AG of the man Trump ran against in 2020 and could likely run against in 2024. Why hasn’t he recused himself.

Session recused himself for the mere appearance of a conflict – which in reality was not conflict at all. For Garland we have at least clear and present conflicts and he won’t recuse himself. Two-tiered justice, anyone?

Olinser in reply to dging. | August 11, 2022 at 4:23 pm

Because Sessions was a coward that was terrified people would say Mean Things about him in the press, and Garland doesn’t even pretend to care what the RINOs say because he knows they aren’t going to do a damn thing to him.

healthguyfsu in reply to dging. | August 11, 2022 at 4:25 pm

The reason is simple: He wants to get the credit for waging this war to try and get back to the SCOTUS bench roster.

However, would it matter if he did recuse himself? They would just appoint the next disciple while trying to claim “impartiality”.

JR in reply to dging. | August 11, 2022 at 5:51 pm

“Trump is personally responsible for Garland not achieving a key goal of his of becoming a Supreme Court justice.”

Ummm. You do remember, don’t you, that it was Obama who nominated him? That Trump had no say in the matter since he wasn’t president? That it was Senators Charles Grassley and Mitch McConnell who stopped him from being confirmed?

Olinser in reply to JR. | August 11, 2022 at 6:37 pm

I believe what they are trying to express is that Garland probably believed that under President Clinton that they would deliver an appropriate bribe to McConnell to get Garland on the court. Trump being elected ended any possible hope of him ever being on SCOTUS.

For all the info he gave, it should have just been tweeted

I’m at the stage where I no longer wish our government officials good luck and good health. In fact it’s just the opposite. It’s the Great Awakening.

“Under my watch, that is precisely what the DOJ is doing.”

*cough*HunterBiden*cough*
___________

Hunter Biden, sure. But there is also substantial evidence of criminal conduct, stretching over many years, by Joe Biden.

If Garland is so damn interested in applying the law equally to everyone, then why isn’t he investigating, or appointing a special prosecutor to investigate, the many crimes of the Biden Crime Family?

JackinSilverSpring | August 11, 2022 at 4:47 pm

I’ve been saying the following for quite a while: The FBI is unsalvageable, and it seems so is the DOJ. Both must be abolished for the good of the country. In addition none of the personnel in DOJ and the FBI should ever be allowed to be involved in any manner in Federal laws enforcement.

There is nothing that I know of in our founding documents that calls for an unelected and firmly entrenched set of “intelligence” agencies. The Deep State has shown itself to be real, and not the creation of conspiracy theorists. And it is more powerful than We The People. These entities must be dismantled and none like it should be allowed to rise from the ashes without full transparency and oversight by yours truly, the aforementioned We (The People).

What are Attachments A and B? Release of the warrant without the evidentiary basis for the warrant is a meaningless gesture.

Did Garland tell Wray this was happening? When did Garland sign off on his approval?

Steven Brizel | August 11, 2022 at 5:33 pm

Attachments A and B refer to what was seized, as opposed to the basis for the search in the first place

Actually, Mary, you’re a little off.

In true weasel lawyer fashion, Garland’s actual words are, ‘I personally approved the decision TO SEEK a search warrant’.

So he’s weaseling out of any responsibility for the actual raid itself.

Close The Fed | August 11, 2022 at 6:16 pm

Okay, so when is the Kenyan getting raided for all those records he hiked off with. How many millions? The archive isn’t distressed to have lost all those?

The Kenyan is laughing his ass off, loving how the left rules unimpeded in all things, and untouched by all law.

The ABC evening news emphasized that Pres. Trump and his lawyers have the subpoena/warrant and could release it now if they chose.

What they didn’t say: why did it take the FBI NINE hours to pick up some documents? ABC said Trump’s lawyer was “on site,” but never mention that the lawyer was excluded from the building during the NINE hour “search.” Why was the FBI so heavily armed? They also never note whether the FIB got what they were “searching” for for NINE hours.

Finally, they tried to tie the alleged shooter of some FIB office to the search. Since they shot the guy, they can make up whatever they want.

Trump should broadcast the findings of any post raid sweep of his home.

Now, the WaPo reportedly thinks that the FBI was after documents having something to do with nukes. If this turns out to be true, it will be the first time the WaPo got anything right about Trump. Mostly they report highly sensational fantasy, and then fail to retract it. My take is, this is what John Podesta would like it to be.

alaskabob in reply to Valerie. | August 11, 2022 at 10:00 pm

With no chain of custody, the FBI can find ANYTHING they want. Trump playing Sandy Berger II? It’s not like…say… calling up the head of the PLA and telling them the Chinese will be given advance notice of WWIII. So for two years …we are supposed to believe Trump had “nuclear secrets” to sell to the highest Biden….er…. Trump bidder?

Barry in reply to Valerie. | August 11, 2022 at 10:41 pm

    “the WaPo reportedly thinks”

I can assure you they do not “think”, they take their orders from the government on EVERYTHING.

Everything they have reported about trump that was claimed to be illegal has been false, EVERYTHING.

This is just a pretext for appointing a special prosecutor.

So here we have the story so far.
-MAL gets raided. Leftists promptly launch into Verse 752 of This Is The End Walls Are Closing In He Cannot Recover From This. Narrative: “There must be something huge in there or they never would have done the raid.”
-More information comes out about the Epstein-tied judge and the hokey-poky with the warrant. The Narrative switches to: “If Trump was really innocent, he would release the warrant which he isn’t so he’s guilty, guilty, guilty!! Of something. We’ll figure that out later.
-Then it comes out that the warrant is sealed and the trained seals in the media are still singing out of the last verse. Confusion reigns and the new Narrative becomes: There were nuclear secrets in there! Nuclear!
-So Garland comes out and has a muddled news conference where he eventually admits the warrant really is sealed and he’ll unseal it if asked. The Narrative switches to: Trump will never unseal this because of the horrible terrible nuclear spy secret documents inside that he stole.
Now Trump comes out and says “Yeah! Go ahead and unseal that sucker. We don’t have anything to hide and you do.”
Those poor leftists have been shifting Narrative gears without a clutch so long that smoke is coming out of their ears. Maybe they’ll wait a day or two before spouting off complete nonsense this time. Naaa.

The rules of CIPA procedure in criminal matters are just beyond belief. In order to understand the coming spectacle just look it up and prepare to blow your mind.

    Nice summary, George.

The government lies, it always lies. The government we now have is at war with Americans. They don’t like you and would put us all in jail if they could.

Protect your friends and prosecute your opponents isn’t equal law

“But Hunter” and “But Hillary” are true, but poor arguments. The point is not the DJT did what they did, and is being selectively prosecuted. Yes of course the law is being applied unevenly. But the point is that DJT did NOTHING WRONG and yet he is being targeted by dragnet Federal and NY State investigations, violating his Fourth Amendment rights and sifting through his papers, businesses, associates and family in search of a crime.

I’ve heard terrible soundbites on Fox, supposedly “in support” talking about “He did what Hillary did but why are they prosecuting Trump and not her?”

No, he didnt, and that’s the point.

Steven Brizel | August 12, 2022 at 8:22 am

The warrant and the list of what was seized are irrelevant-let’s see the purported admissible evidence of probable cause and why should anyone trust an FBI that is clearly politicized and an AG who is the woke world’s consigliere?

Garland is as sincere as the teleprompter he reads from. I believe the time to be rid of this albatross and all the minions is by firing/defunding them all. The states can take care of its citizens better than anything/one that comes out of DC,

Every Federal agency except two need to be defunded/eliminated. We need a customs and border patrol for one and the military for the other. However I would change both of them dramatically from what they are now. I would put all troops/agents under state control except when a war has been declared. So any troops/agents stationed in say Texas are under the Governor of Texas and if he feels they don’t have enough agents he can hire more. They would be paid from the fed taxes they collect from a flat tax. With the change to a flat tax the former IRS agents can be rehired to audit the states use of federal funds.

PS. No more Federal fuel taxes, tobacco taxes, liquor taxes, etc. that they can bribe people with. The states will have to maintain their own infrastructure and if you want to build a multi state road talk to the other governors to get everyone that benefits from it to pay for it.
