Fetterman Uses His Stroke in May to Justify Not Debating Oz

Fetterman Uses His Stroke in May to Justify Not Debating Oz

So will Fetterman miraculously be 100% better if he wins in November? Something tells me yes.

Pennsylvania Republican Senate nominee Dr. Mehmet Oz wants to debate Democratic Senate nominee John Fetterman. Oz wanted a debate to happen in early September.

Fetterman once said debates are essential!

Fetterman keeps saying no. Oz started questioning Fetterman’s health since he had a stroke in May:

Oz — who, despite Fetterman’s lack of public appearances, is trailing in polls — on Tuesday issued a list of “concessions” his campaign was willing to make to secure a debate, including a sarcastic vow not to intentionally “hurt John’s feelings” and to “pay for any additional medical personnel he might need to have on standby.”

His campaign followed up Wednesday with a list of reasons Fetterman was pulling out of the debates, including that it “might accidentally reveal a health condition that’s worse than previously disclosed.”

“No matter what the reason is, John Fetterman is still too crazy to be Pennsylvania’s next United States senator,” Oz’s campaign said.

In a phone call Wednesday to the Associated Press, an aide to the Republican nominee questioned whether Fetterman was “too sick to debate” — a suggestion brushed off by Fetterman’s campaign as Oz pushes for a televised debate Sept. 6.

Fetterman whined that Oz made fun of his stroke and his health problems:

The lieutenant governor, who only returned to the campaign trail earlier this month, fired back and accused his GOP opponent of thinking it was “funny to mock a stroke survivor.”

“I will not be participating in a debate the first week of September, but look forward to having a productive discussion about how we can move forward and have a real conversation on this once Dr. Oz and his team are ready to take this seriously,” Fetterman’s statement said.

“I’ve been traveling the commonwealth talking to voters about my vision and ideas for nearly a decade. I’m proud of my record as mayor and as Lieutenant Governor and I’m eager to put my record and my values up against Dr. Oz’s any day of the week.

“As I recover from this stroke and improve my auditory processing and speech, I look forward to continuing to meet with the people of Pennsylvania. They’ll always know where I stand,” he continued.

Strokes are awful. I bet it is taking a long time to recover. It sucks, and I feel bad for him. But shouldn’t that be a sign Fetterman is unfit for office if he cannot even hold a debate or talk?

Fetterman won’t debate, but he’ll meet up with Joe Biden in Pittsburgh for a Labor Day event.

On Wednesday, Fetterman’s campaign shared a video of the nominee dissing Oz at a recent event. Thing is…Fetterman sounds okay in the video. He also seems fine with attending events around other people.

Fetterman has an entire load of crap he has supported amd done that can and should be used against him

Certainly his health should be brought up but he refuses to address the real issues of what a horrible bought and paid for politicians get is and his history, which is clear to see.

Then you have the fact that OZ has spent 17,000 since the primary and mytch the bytch and the RNC have given him nothing

With a strong group working for him and money from the RNC he could win

But we all know they don’t want to win

Trump is sitting on several hundred hundred million.

I wonder why he’s not contributing to his own choice of a candidate.

    Anyone?

henrybowman in reply to jharp. | August 31, 2022 at 8:42 pm

Because it becomes a race to the bottom?
How much is Soros sitting on?

Gosport in reply to jharp. | August 31, 2022 at 9:18 pm

Possibly because he has his own campaign to fund, as well as assisting those running on his ticket.

So Trump’s potential run in 2024 is worth abandoning Oz in Pennsylvania?

And I’m far from convinced that Trump with even be a candidate.

Who knows where Trump’s legal problems are headed? I happened to think he is in big trouble.

henrybowman in reply to jharp. | August 31, 2022 at 11:05 pm

I would no more fight to seat Oz than I would fight to seat Romney. So yea, abandoning him may be the optimal response.

gonzotx in reply to jharp. | August 31, 2022 at 11:08 pm

Only BS trouble. He’s the cleanest politician ever and you can take that to the bank

We all know very well that if Trump actually had real legal problems they’d have used that years ago. A dozen fishing expeditions and they have found nothing they can actually use.

Yeah, but he’s not your candidate. He is Trump’s candidate, so Trump ought to be helping him with some of that fortune he’s sitting on. And it’s Trump’s fault that PA Republicans are stuck with him, so he owes it to them to push him over the line just as he did in the primary.

For better or worse DJT endorsed Oz. Just as he endorsed Masters, Lexit, Lake, Mastriano among other high profile primary challengers to the establishment candidates.

Sticking your finger in the eye of the r establishment by using his endorsement of these folks and helping them win the primary is amusing but not nearly enough.

The success or failure of these candidates is now tied to DJT. All of these candidates would be allies in the Senate or as Gov for a subsequent DJT admin or another populist right POTUS in 2025.

The r establishment, aka McConnell, isn’t going to help these candidates. They would rather lose than have a growing number of folks pushing to achieve legislative victories that matter to the base v talking about and fundraising off the idea of future victories ‘if only’.

It only r voters would send more money, if only they had another 3-5 r Senators, if only…The establishment doesn’t want to solve problems because once done their importance and personal power fades.Just like a bureaucrat running the ‘war on poverty’; if they win the war they are out of a job. So they always seek to rely and defer victory.

These candidates can’t win without financial assistance. The r establishment has already cut their funding, essentially writing them off. If DJT and his surrogates want to maintain his image as a kingmaker then they need to ensure DJT handpicked candidates win in Nov.

Oz needs to go on the attack with an ad campaign show casing fetterman’s condition and Dep casing his lack of fitness for this office.

Oz is finished.

Much wiser to cut Republican losses and focus on Ohio, North Carolina,, Georgia, and Wisconsin. All could easily be Republican losses.

That said, I just don’t see a path for Republicans to take the Senate.

Arizona is gone. PA is gone. If Republican can flip Georgia and hang onto Ohio, North Carolina, and Wisconsin that leaves us at 50/50.

As long as Rubio hangs onto to Florida.

And republicans can only blame themselves. Weak weak candidates.

henrybowman in reply to jharp. | August 31, 2022 at 7:23 pm

Don’t count Arizona out. Kelly is really on the ropes here. He’s been reduced to running campaign videos containing insipid testimonials from RINOs.

Kelly is up 8 and Masters has had the money rug pulled out.

I think Republicans best shots are Ohio, Florida, and North Carolina (protecting seats) and Georgia, (a flip).

If PA flips to (D) it is big trouble.

It’s early and anything can happen but right now today Democrats are in a better position.

jharp in reply to jharp. | August 31, 2022 at 9:00 pm

Oops. Left out Wisconsin. Republicans need to hold. Badly. Looks like a coin toss at this point.

Dude, stop. We are 60+ days out. The post Labor day polls are the ones that matter. As folks start paying attention these races tighten. The hoopla over a generic ballot is insane. As is ignoring that the d/prog poll +5 (+/-) points ahead of to flaws in methodology.

Then factor the composition of the respondents. Is it adults, registered voters or likely voters? Then add in the impact of a summer ad blitz by d/prog that was largely unchallenged due to less funding.

Once voters pay attention and r ads go up and tell them other side of the story the races tighten. This happens every cycle. The r/prog ride high from Independence day to Labor day then it begins to flip. The media talking heads cover the race not the horses in the race which adds to struggle. Every cycle this repeats, perhaps you recall the shocked faces on election night in 2016 as DJT won despite being behind in polling?

It’s early and anything can happen but right now today Democrats are in a better position.

          Is what I posted.

That said I think Republicans have some seriously flawed candidate that are going to lose races that could have easily been wins. Namely Oz, Mastriano, Lake, Walker, Masters, and Vance.

I happen to think at best republicans win two of those races.

And then Wisconsin, Nevada, and North Carolina become critical and all 3 could go either way.

Am I the only one that’s wondering where GOP Chariwoman Ronna Romney McDaniels is?????????????

    Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt.

Easily obtained from Democratic operatives (or from the major media, but I repeat myself).

    Az is NOT gone

“Strokes are awful. I bet it is taking a long time to recover. It sucks, and I feel bad for him. But shouldn’t that be a sign Fetterman is unfit for office if he cannot even hold a debate or talk?

They’re in the same feeble-mindedness support group.

Feckless Fetterman is just using the stroke as an excuse for the fact he is another Democrat Communist.

Elect too many vegetables, and you end up with a salad…

He is a Marxist imo, and not appearing to be well but the Democrats are stuck and can’t get another hard core Leftists in a months notice.

henrybowman in reply to Skip. | August 31, 2022 at 8:55 pm

They could if they Arkancided him.
Look how they handled their “Torricelli problem” by replacing the corrupt, unelectable Democrat with a completely different candidate, in total, literal contravention of their election laws… and nobody did shit about it. It was all rubber stamped by a Democrat state court.
And at this point, they won’t do shit about an ex-Fetterman, either.

Crutches can take many forms. Especially if the dinosaur media, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democrat party, is squarely behind you, and will carry water for you anywhere.

Just what the nation needs, another Democrat zombie in high office.

Ugly tattoos on a giant. Not a good look.

Oz is going to lose to this giant crazy man because he was a horrible pick. Sorry but that’s the truth.

All I see is a big communist coward that still looks like the bad guy out of a comic book.

Fetterman is playing the Biden basement campaign which candidates who can’t think on their feet resort to avoid debates

Any candidate who refuses to debate and interaction with the public invites skepticism as to his abilities to serve in any public office

Horrible Dem Fetterman vs. Horrible Trump Pick Oz??

Pffft … couldn’t care less.

The following might interest people concerned with/about constitutional rights as in the U.S. and PA. Constitutions.

Correct me if memory serves poorly, but Mr. Fetterman is no friend of law abiding gun owners. As for Dr. Oz, the only response from him or his campaign is “send money”.

If you can’t debate in the campaign, how are you going to make coherent arguments on the Senate floor, if elected?
