Yale Law Prof Says Right to Own Guns is Really Right to “Suppress Inner City Blacks”

“He is the former dean of the law school.”

This is what people at Yale Law School are being taught? It’s just alarming.

The College Fix reports:

Yale law professor: ‘Right to own guns’ is about right ‘to suppress inner city Blacks’

Yale professors recently weighed in on the Second Amendment in light of a recent Supreme Court ruling that struck down New York’s law that limited concealed carry permits.

“With the rise of the NRA and its accompanying polarization with its association with questions of race, the ‘right to own guns’ is the right really to suppress inner city Blacks,” Professor Robert Post told the Yale Daily News. He is the former dean of the law school.

“It became associated with the right of individual self defense, and this was a new development in the ideology of gun ownership that occurred in the Reagan era and became dominant on the right in the 1990s,” Post (pictured) told the campus newspaper.

Another Yale professor told the newspaper that gun ownership threatened his own rights.

“The harms from guns and gun violence extend well beyond those who choose to own or use guns,” Professor Howard Forman told the Daily News. “My freedom to enjoy life, health, and wellbeing is directly impacted by someone else’s unfettered access to various guns and weapons of war,” the public health professor stated.

Forman’s not the only one in the public health school who shared a critical view of guns.

The university’s School of Public Health released a statement in May after the shootings in Buffalo and in Uvalde, Texas.

The school stated:

There is a rippling effect that gun violence wreaks upon our communities and psyches. Toting military-style assault weapons and gear, individuals with extreme hatred, feelings of alienation, and/or mental disturbance are murdering our children and targeting people based on their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religious affiliation. Assault weapons designed for military use are a frequent tool for mass murder.

We are grateful once again to the founders for providing us a right that would allow us to defend ourselves in the big cities of the US’ future. What foresight and Divine guidance they had!

I prefer to think that the Founders could never have envisioned the horror of today’s Assault Blacks when they wrote the Second Amendment.

Indeed, the right to survive inner city Blacks.

What the hell do these people know about “inner city blacks”? They are the privileged. They are detached from that reality. If they knew what day to day conditions were like for “inner city blacks” they would understand why they feel the need carry a weapon.

The 2nd Amendment was created to allow the citizenry to defend itself from a tyrannical government. The founders had just done such a thing and had no delusions that even the new government checks and balances could stop another tyrannical government that the citizenry needed to defend itself from.

So what’s new? Yalies projecting their inner Margie Sanger again?

Very odd. I don’t remember reading that african americans can’t own firearms? Don’t they have 2A rights as well? How do you explain that Dean?

The 2A is part of the Bill of Rights because it protects the individual against the excesses of government. It has zero to do with radical professors views on race

“With the rise of the NRA and its accompanying polarization with its association with questions of race…”

AFAIK the NRA has never made any statements about Blacks owning guns

Is this what passes for scholarship at Yale Law? It’s pathetic.

Y’know what? I’m going to give him this one.
And inner city blacks have nobody to blame but themselves.
If they behaved their damnselves, our guns could be used to suppress Mexican drug cartel runners, Asian tong thugs, organized gangs of railroad cargo thieves, civic rioters and arsonists, and lone-wolf assassins in our schools and churches.
But no, they had to make this all about themselves.
As General Mattis explained, some people just need killin’.

That’s an incredibly ignorant assertion.

“Robert Post is a Sterling Professor of Law at Yale Law School. Post’s subject areas are constitutional law, First Amendment, legal history, and equal protection.”

I would love to see white as a ghost Prof. Post take a stroll through a couple of urban areas in New Haven late at night and experience just how “suppressed” any blacks might be there.

Ivory towers are white, aren’t they?

1 – First mainstream gun control laws were intended to disarm blacks so reconstruction could be overturned. Safely once they were disarmed.

2 – NRA has never attempted or recommended disarming law abiding citizens of any color. That’s on this prof and his ilk.

3 – line need to make up their mind – should police be not trusted with guns – or should law abiding citizens not be trusted with guns – or should only private security hired to protect the elite and their property be trusted with guns?

My freedom to enjoy life, health, and wellbeing is directly impacted by someone else’s unfettered access to various guns and weapons of war.

It is? Can he name any specific person threatening him?

Are you a troll, or really that stupid and uninformed?

I have unfettered access to various guns! Please tell me how that access affects your freedom to enjoy life, health, and wellbeing.

Kinda like a Christian Scientist claiming that their wellbeing is threatened by your access to medicine,

JackinSilverSpring | July 7, 2022 at 12:51 pm

Nobody suppresses blacks in the inner citied except other blacks. The “good” professor should take a trip there someday. The grifters running BLM forgot to send the memo to the inner cities that black lives matter.

They are the privileged. They are detached from that reality. If they knew what day to day conditions were like for “inner city blacks” they would understand why they feel the need carry a weapon.

Everyone knows that the assassination of Shinzo Abe and the recent shootup at a Danish shopping mall are fake news. Those countries have strong gun control laws, so such things can’t happen there.
