Poll: Majority of Americans Believe Country is on Wrong Track, Including 78% of Democrats

“Since last month, the percentage of Democrats saying the country is headed in the wrong direction rose from 66%.”

A new and devastating poll for Joe Biden dropped this week, indicating that most Americans believe the country is on the wrong track.

We could probably cite a bad poll for Biden on a near-daily basis, but this one is significant for what it shows about members of Biden’s party.

The AP NORC Poll has found that even 78 percent of Democrats agree that the country is headed in the wrong direction.

From the Associated Press:

Most say nation on wrong track, including Dems: AP-NORC poll

An overwhelming and growing majority of Americans say the U.S. is heading in the wrong direction, including nearly 8 in 10 Democrats, according to a new poll that finds deep pessimism about the economy plaguing President Joe Biden.

Eighty-five percent of U.S. adults say the country is on the wrong track, and 79% describe the economy as poor, according to a new survey from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. The findings suggest Biden faces fundamental challenges as he tries to motivate voters to cast ballots for Democrats in November’s midterm elections…

The poll shows only 39% of Americans approve of Biden’s leadership overall, while 60% disapprove. His approval rating fell to its lowest point of his presidency last month and remains at that level.

Naturally, the AP buried this detail towards the bottom of the article:

The national dissatisfaction is bipartisan, the poll shows. Ninety-two percent of Republicans and 78% of Democrats say the country is headed in the wrong direction. Since last month, the percentage of Democrats saying the country is headed in the wrong direction rose from 66%.

Read more details on the poll here.

Doug Powers of Twitchy has compiled some tweets which contain polling charts. This really puts things in perspective:

Stephen L. Miller makes a good catch about how the media frames this:

Our current situation is not ‘happening’ to Joe Biden.

He is driving it.

But most of those Democrats will vote for more of the same

It’s called narcissism: they’d rather take the whole house down than admit they – THEY – could have been wrong.

No, its called Cloward-Piven and this “managed decline” is BY DESIGN and the DESIRED OUTCOME so they can take over the country and rule as emperors over the sheeple.

They are not “wrong” in anything they are doing ( its achieving the desired effect)

What they are not going to “admit” is what they are doing and the desired end goal.

Remember, gotta pass “Ocare” to see what’s in it. ( they knew what’s in it because they put it there- they played on the ignorance of the sheeple)

What we are experiencing now is no different- same song, next verse.

It is arguable that to a very significant percentage of the Democrats cited, and their Institutional Republican allies, that the “wrong track” measurement is a desirable outcome.

I just read that there is a 5 week supply of motor oil for diesel engines in the US. Apparently one of the critical additives is not currently being produced and it will take a year to get the production going again. When the trucks and trains stop rolling the economy dies.

The Gentle Grizzly in reply to Tsquared. | June 30, 2022 at 10:21 pm

Where did you read it, and how reliable is the source?

Subotai Bahadur in reply to The Gentle Grizzly. | June 30, 2022 at 11:45 pm

I don’t know where he read it, but I have encountered it. The additive is called Diesel Exhaust Fluid. It can be looked up. All commercial diesels built since 2010 have been made to require it [it supposedly reduces pollution, especially particulates]. If it is not there as an additive, the engine shuts down. From what I have understood, we have been getting short of it for weeks. So, I expect some real problems.

OK, that’s not oil, it’s an anti-pollution additive.
TL;DR is that it is made out of urea, which is mainly produced by countries who are now on the other side of the Maginot Pissed-Off Line.

henrybowman in reply to henrybowman. | July 2, 2022 at 2:16 am

And, I should add, this is an “unforced error’ shortage, since diesel engines will run just fine without this crap, UNLESS they have been designed at the muzzle of a nanny government’s gun to STOP WORKING unless it is present, which is in fact just what happened.

taurus the judge in reply to Tsquared. | July 1, 2022 at 7:18 am

NO, let me correct this before it really gets out of hand. (Much of this is written by people with an apocalyptic view and a vested financial interest)

I have O&G clients and am a Tribology/lubrication Engineer so let me give you the cliff note version here.

There are in fact supply chain shortages of basically everything but no “outages” (in this field)- like everything else, prices will go up and delivery slower with some outages.

The “DEF” is not an oil additive or anything to do with oils (Its an injected catalyst in the EXHAUST, not the oil or fuel) so that’s beyond the scope of this post and my industry knowledge. I do know from just being in the Chemical Industry with clients that with most things, the US “can” produce our needs but its artificially not financially beneficial at the moment so even this is a “manufactured crisis”. (so I’m told)

    On the oil…

A diesel will run on regular motor oil ( just with different change frequencies with acceptable performance) so that’s not a show stopper

Diesel oil ( defined specifically as a base oil with additive packages blended specifically for the requirements of a diesel engine) is obviously vastly superior to a conventional oil in every way so its the recommended product.

These oils do not use any different additives than any other industrial lubricant (be it SAE, ISO, API or all of the sub categories like “G” this or that) but the refinement of “Base stock “A” has a different baseline requiring different chemistry say than “Base stock B” in the same classification to meet the same requirements of a “diesel oil”.

So there may possibly be reduced runs and some shortages but there is no actual crisis at this time. (other than what the “new liberal world order” has in store for the sheeple if we allow this to continue)

Honestly, if this isn’t the final and ultimate call to create a business friendly environment and bring manufacturing back to the US, nothing else will.

Yes, the country IS on the wrong track. But the question is, who is to blame? Who is running the country? Who is making the decisions?

I dunno, but it certainly isn’t a decrepit old man with advanced Alzheimers who reads everything off a card and doesn’t even know where he is half of the time.

geronl in reply to Peabody. | June 30, 2022 at 11:02 pm

The supply chain issues were caused by the lockdowns. Biden didn’t do the lockdowns, Governors did that.

taurus the judge in reply to geronl. | July 1, 2022 at 7:21 am

Don’t believe for one second it was not a coordinated effort planned well in advance by the puppet masters. Each executed the plan according to their role.

healthguyfsu in reply to geronl. | July 1, 2022 at 1:34 pm

What did Biden do to fix it? He had all these plans to EXPEDIENTLY fix COVID and his regime was soooo confident that they could do a better job.

Where is the accountability for that?

It has only gotten worse, not better, since Biden took office. He gets 110% of the blame at this point.

This is Obama’s third term. Between Susan Rice and Anita Dunn in the White House and Red China corrupting half of Congress and a good part of our bureaucrats (hi, Fauci), it’s obvious who is to blame.

The more this goes, the more the evidence seems to implicate the Globalist/RINOs as the true force “behind the curtain”.

The enemy is actually within. They may be being paid off externally but Soros didn’t refuse to put the bill to repeal Ocare in Trumps hand- the RINOs did.

This is beginning to look like the left is the little yapping dog running around in circles that everybody watches while old blue walks up quietly and takes the steak off of your plate.

Bad things are happening TO America BECAUSE of Biden – AND Democrats generally.

    Owego in reply to George_Kaplan. | July 1, 2022 at 8:27 am

True. They believe that the country is wrong because it believes that Biden – bless the cute old guy and his white hair plugs – and Democrats have caused the problems when all sane people know that TRUMP and the Russians and the NRA, and Israel and Tucker Carlson and Elon Musk are doing it.

Don’t get too excited about Democrats saying the country is going the wrong way – they’re probably pissed that SCOTUS reaffirmed the 2A and sent the question of abortion back to the states.

Danny in reply to JDmyrm. | June 30, 2022 at 11:15 pm

Finally someone else who understands that,

Not really: half of them went out and bought guns.

So you are saying if you walked into New York City and praised the 2nd A and Abortion rulings half of all registered Democrats would agree with you?

Democrats don’t approve of Biden because they perceive him as being too soft on us, not criminalizing enough of us, not doing enough to advance their priorities etc.

Conservatives have been shooting themselves in the head expecting (usually “populist”) leftists to be on our side. Knock it off they are leftists. Bernie Sanders hates you as much as Biden does.

Antifundamentalist | June 30, 2022 at 11:09 pm

The pertinent question is what are the exact reasons the Leftists think that the country is on the wrong track? I’ll bet money that not all of the reasons correspond to the ones given by those on the Right of the spectrum.

They believe the country is on the wrong track because more and more people disagree with them. It never crosses their minds that what they are doing has made a complete and unnecessary mess of life in the country, only that those who disagree with them aren’t smart enough to know that the inconveniences, shortages, sicknesses, cost of things, civil disorder, crime, and chosen persecutions are short term and must occur but will all pass as the country and all in the world – you know, the Ukraines and Uyghurs of the world – move toward nirvana.

henrybowman in reply to Antifundamentalist. | July 2, 2022 at 2:22 am

It’s like the stupid polls that ask, “will a candidate’s stance on gun control determine how you vote this year,” and then say that the issue is important to 80% of the voters, without disclosing that 60% of those voters are AGAINST it.

What about the 22% that think we are on right track? What planet do they live on?

These are people who voted for AOC, Omar, etc. including ALL of Hollywood and most faculty in our colleges. Then there are is the army of fat girls with blue hair.

Valerie in reply to Romey. | July 1, 2022 at 11:51 am

In my opinion, they don’t count.

My personal rule of thumb is that anything over 75% reflects a consensus, because on any ordinary polling day in the US, on any question, there will automatically be a minimum of 25% in the minority position. It only goes up from there.

The incompetence will continue until morale (or the polls) improves.

Democrats believe the country is on the wrong track because they fear losing coming elections.

Darn that economy. I bet it’s in league with those evil guns that are killing people. Notice the same language used by the MSM in both issues and you can’t unsee it.

    jb4 in reply to diver64. | July 1, 2022 at 1:16 pm

As to the economy, one recent forecast is that Q2 will now have negative real GDP growth. With Q1 a negative 1.6%, two in a row is the textbook definition of recession. That will NOT be good for Brandon and the Dems and might take the stock market down another 15-20%.

Seems like the Biden people are not in the least worried about elections.

Why is that?

Good question. Here’s another: why did those six states stop counting votes on election night 2020 — all at the same time?

And another: Why is the DoJ arresting lawyers who worked for Trump to challenge the 2020 election count?

Yup. The problem is us… we weren’t voting hard enough.

CommoChief in reply to George S. | July 1, 2022 at 12:46 pm

Voting wasn’t the problem. Identifying, donating and preparing to combat deviations from elections laws was the issue. Assembling a nationwide team of trained elections observers and poll watchers would have been beneficial. Assembling a nationwide team of Attorneys to run to CT based on reporting of violations from the observers would have been helpful.

War gaming potential or likely d/prog strategies to unfairly influence much less illegally act would have been very beneficial. Creation of basic flow charts of these violations and the response tailored to the specific voting laws of each State would have been helpful. A simple if they do this then we do x or y or z in this particular order to deny or delay until the big shot election artery gets on scene would have been valuable.

Voting isn’t the problem. It’s ensuring that the registration lists are clean and the mechanics of the election laws are followed not ignored or worse deliberately circumvented. Successfully combating that takes a far higher level of individual commitment than simply casting a ballot. It takes funding and volunteers.

      jb4 in reply to CommoChief. | July 1, 2022 at 1:29 pm

An introductory remark to your suggestions could have been ….. to anticipate the election we will have not the 2016 election or the one you would like. This especially means anticipating the Covid impacts on election laws and mail-in voting.

        CommoChief in reply to jb4. | July 1, 2022 at 6:20 pm

The key is preparation. There are thousands of counties and tens of thousands of polling places. How many had trained and competent r observers? Why no immediate push in 2017 to begin lawsuits in every State to force compliance with the maintenance requirements for voter rolls? Just that alone might have made the difference.

Covid helped the d/prog manipulate the system in 2020 no doubt but really it was a matter of scope v new things. They use the same basic ways to engage in shenanigans every election. How could the r be caught so flat footed yet again?

The d/prog are like an old school football coach. He runs a basic inside handoff and gets five yards consistently so he keeps running the same play until the defense stops it. Our side isn’t making any adjustments to stop the basic ways the d/prog use every election.

Subotai Bahadur in reply to CommoChief. | July 1, 2022 at 6:13 pm

Keeping in mind that to accomplish these things will/would have required organized effort and will. The most appropriate body to have that will, given the election theft, and to organize that effort if they had the will would have been the Republican Party. The same Republican party that went along happily with the theft and has been very, very silent on the concept of election integrity.

They are the closest thing we have to an opposition party in the country, but they mainly oppose us.

      Subotai Bahadur

CommoChief in reply to Subotai Bahadur. | July 1, 2022 at 6:30 pm

At a national level of DC sell outs you are largely correct. At the local county level? Nope that’s on us for not getting involved and voting in a quality county chair. Lots of things can be done at the county level. Get enough quality county chairs and you change the State leadership. None of this is easy. It’s hard work and goes mostly unappreciated by regular voters and nominal r members.

It’s not even dependent on a party. An individual has standing to insist upon election laws being followed. Heck if the local r won’t put up because they are complicit then work with the libertarian party to get it done in your county.

That’s the important part; work for change in your county because everyone else is either too busy kicking ass in their county or they don’t care enough about their own county to get involved at home so they sure ain’t doing it for another county. No white knight is coming to save us. Either we care enough to do it ourselves or it won’t happen.

The closest thing we have to an opposition party…

        https://www.breitbart.com/education/2022/07/01/senator-cornyn-republican-legislators-back-civics-bill-could-push-critical-race-theory-every-public-school-america/

Actually, there is no Republican party. The only opposition “party” right now is Trump/DeSantis. But we have to act like Trump deserves to be vilified by the Uniparty because…. mean tweets? But I’m sure once Trump wins, “we”‘ will all be partying and claiming we were behind him the whole time.

“We” are a very, very big part of the problem here. Republicans never, ever have a superstar to vote for but here we have two of the most effective fighters ever and we have to pick only one and make them fight each other. “We” just aren’t smart enough to win.

Thank God for Trump, DeSantis and SCOTUS!

CommoChief in reply to Pasadena Phil. | July 2, 2022 at 9:44 am

          Phil,

Agree that DJT and DeSantis both exemplify the police characteristics needed to successfully combat the d/prog.

Neither they nor any other white knight is riding to our county to reform the local r party nor do the work of volunteering and training as a poll watcher. That mission falls to us in our own County.

A bottom up reform is the only way we take control from the establishment and push our principles and our concerns v the those of the establishment. IOW, all of us must show willing to be the successful agents of change at the local level as DJT and DeSantis may be at the National level.

@commochief: I am not talking about building something that might pay off 20 years from now. We have very big pieces in play RIGHT NOW! And the only one getting any hurrahs is DeSantis. There is a reason why the Uniparty and the entire establishment is insanely focused on destroying Trump and everyone associated with him and it isn’t because of his tweeting. If they feared DeSantis, they would be going after him. That dynamic is in play RIGHT NOW!

Maybe that makes you feel productive to be involved locally but it won’t make a difference this year nor any time soon. Those big battles need to be won RIGHT NOW! And we are on a roll…. but you would never know it listening to all of the “Yeah but…” negativity pointing out that “nothing is for sure” “or it’s too complicated” or whatever. Geez, we are winning! RIGHT NOW! Can we focus on that once in a while?

CommoChief in reply to Pasadena Phil. | July 2, 2022 at 12:09 pm

          Phil,

Had we been involved 20 years ago then we would have already achieved the changes we seek. Using an excuse that ‘X action won’t help today because it will take years to come to fruition’ is quite similar to the excuses offered about drilling more oil or building a new refinery that d/prog use.

Local action at the county and precinct level isn’t going to preclude support for any Presidential candidate. In fact organised local volunteer observers given proper training and backed by Attorneys with a grounding in elections law would work to buttress the prospect of victory.

If we believe the 2020 election was hijacked by d/prog shenanigans, I do, then why would you be opposed to setting into motion the local organization, education and law fare system to counter the d/prog?

FWIW I don’t believe the establishment wants DeSantis for the same reason they don’t want DJT. They want a rino like Kristi Noem or Nikky Haley or Larry Hogan who can be relied upon to carry water for the uniparty establishment consensus. Neither DJT nor DeSantis fit that bill.
