No One Trusts ‘The Experts’ Anymore and for Good Reasons

“even more troubling is the possibility that they have bought into their own fictions”

No one trusts the expert class anymore, whether it’s the media or government agencies. It’s like we’re living through the story of the Boy Who Cried Wolf.

Andrew Doyle writes at UnHerd:

The experts are lying to you

With most of the world’s information only a click away, one would have assumed that ours would be the most enlightened generation in human history. We may have lost the rote-learning skills and depth of knowledge of our grandparents, but we know where to find the facts and can do so in an instant.

For all that, many of us have developed the habit of reading multiple accounts of any given news item, because so often reports are filtered through an ideological lens. There was, for instance, Omar Jimenez’s coverage of protests in Kenosha for CNN, described as “mostly peaceful” in the chyron running under the report in spite of the clearly visible backdrop of burning cars and buildings. Similarly, the BBC was roundly mocked for its description of “largely peaceful” protests in London, in which 27 police officers were injured.

Instinctively, it feels as though these reporters must be peddling these untruths knowingly, perhaps out of a misguided sense of paternalistic responsibility to prevent further discord. But even more troubling is the possibility that they have bought into their own fictions. If one accepts the postmodernist belief that our experiences are solely constructed through the language with which they are expressed, then to describe an event as “largely peaceful” makes it so.

Such blunders are only the more egregious examples of the kind of white lies and misrepresentations we find on an almost daily basis in the national press. Occasionally there is a backlash, such as when the BBC modified the quotation of a rape victim so that her attacker was not misgendered. But on the whole this routine twisting of the truth goes unnoticed. We have grown accustomed to reporters telling us what to think about a story, rather than simply relaying the key facts and leaving us to judge for ourselves.

What we have is a small group of people at the top who are dictating the “fiction” and then everyone below them repeats it for fear of losing their job. That is why they are trying to eliminate critical thought in schools. If no one questions anything, then “their” truth is accepted without, well, question. These people are no better than Nazis, and are a whole lot more efficient at it. As I told my rabbi years ago (long story), straight white christian conservative males such as myself are the new Jew. Funny part though, is that I am getting blamed for so much when in fact I haven’t actually done anything. They will rue the day when I choose to become active.

Y’all know I tend to view a lot of things through the lens of gun rights simply because. It’s instructive to realize that the Founders routinely said things like:

“To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.”
–Richard Henry Lee

“The great object is that every man be armed . . . Everyone who is able may have a gun.”
–Patrick Henry

Today’s “elites” soil their shorts as such an idea. They think the masses are too stupid, too unqualified, to handle potentially lethal responsibility. They think it should be reserved for the anointed.

What we have seen over the past three years should be heartening to us: lo, the elites themselves are also stupid and unqualified. They are not at all justified in bogarting our rights to themselves. They are ours to exercise.

We are justified in refusing to comply. We can just say no. And we should.

Such blunders? No, this is deliberate propaganda.

Only a delusional would believe a single thing for anything subsidized by the federal government, a single dollar, or anyone who has ever gone to a Federal seminar. Everything the Federal bureaucrats say is filled with lies, and even the truth is behind so many lies and disinformation that I review every single letter, call, personal interaction with skepticism about the content of what is said. First they start with a federal lie, then compound it with a localized lie.
Our office runs under this assumption.

If you just assume Leftists are insane and that most journalists and experts are Leftists (unless proven otherwise) then all is explained.
