Boston University Students Argue Free Speech Doesn’t Apply to Conservative Writer

“We fully believe in freedom of speech and expression, however there is a line between free speech and hate speech that must be drawn”

Boston University students were “triggered” when Michael Knowles of the Daily Wire recently spoke on campus. The complaint is typical. Conservative speech is dangerous and harmful, and therefore should not be allowed.

Campus Reform reports:

Michael Knowles does not count as free speech, students argue

Boston University’s Student Government Association (SGA) recently demanded the school adopt new “LGBTQ+” measures after Michael Knowles spoke on campus, which the body did not consider an exercise of free speech.

The April 25 resolution passed four days after the university’s Young Americans for Freedom chapter hosted the Daily Wire host.

The SGA condemned the event and expressed that it was “disappointed and frustrated” by the allowance of a “speaker who is openly transphobic and actively seeks to erode and endanger the LGBTQ+ community.”

Furthermore, the resolution asserted that the Knowles event should not have been considered a free speech event because of the “danger” it posed to campus safety.

According to the resolution, the event was “directly incompatible with the safety of the community or the functioning of the University.”

“We fully believe in freedom of speech and expression, however there is a line between free speech and hate speech that must be drawn,” the resolution stated.

In response to Knowles’ speech, the SGA deemed it necessary that the university “address and actively change their past behavior of ignorance around LGBTQ+ matters.”

The resolution’s demands included “accessible and inclusive housing for transgender, gender non-conforming, and intersex (TGNI) students at BU” and a partnership between the university and the LGBTQIA+ BU Student Task Force.

The partnership would work together “to measure LGBTQ+ inclusivity” and fulfill the “forthcoming recommendations.”

No need to argue. Everybody knows it’s true for goodness sakes.

There must be something in the water at BU. Example: Occasional Cortex went in as a very smart young woman and came out a dunce.

“We fully believe in freedom of speech and expression, however there is a line between free speech and hate speech that must be drawn,”

Definition of hate speech: Anything we say it is. And anyone who argues with us is a bigot. Shut up!

It doesn’t matter how you define it. Even if you had an objective definition, it would still be protected by the freedom of speech.

The left bullies people so much, that even if we have freedom of speech, a lot of people are afraid to exercise it.

There is no such line. And if you believe there is, fuck you.
I hate all you baby tyrants with a passion, and would drop you all in hot acid if it were up to me.
Did I step over your precious line? Then come and get some, crybullies.

“We fully believe in freedom of speech and expression, however there is a line between free speech and Marxist propaganda that must be drawn, so we’re banning CRT and all materials that are based on Howard Zinn’s works”.

“We fully believe in freedom of speech and expression, however there is a line between free speech and lack of patriotism that must be drawn, so we’re banning all criticism of the USA”.

“We fully believe in freedom of speech and expression, however there is a line between free speech and blasphemy that must be drawn, so we’re banning everything that is against the Bible”.

See how that works?

Free-If-Agree Speech is Phoney Free Speech

Has never been prohibition against marxist speech because, hey, free speech. That’s how we got here. Now all that exists on uni campus is marxism.
The only ones crabbing about anti-USA speech are a few on the fringe right.
The last blasphemy outrage was likely the witch trials in the late 17th century.
    So what’s ya fukkin point?

The Left’s definition of “hate speech” is anything that they don’t agree with.

Eventually, they may actually grow up and become functional adults. Maybe.

The BC SGA members are the future leaders of the United States. Be afraid, very afraid.

If free speech doesn’t always apply at Boston University, then neither does Academic Freedom.

Anyone who claims they support free speech, and then immediately follows that statement with a “but” or “however”, is lying. They don’t believe in free speech, except for themselves.
