Biden’s FDA Chief Asserts “Misinformation” is Leading Cause of Death in Nation

Biden’s FDA Chief Asserts “Misinformation” is Leading Cause of Death in Nation

Biden Disinformation Alert: Dr. Robert Califf mentions not one word about drug overdoses, suicides, or murders.

There is now an intriguing, new candidate in the sprightly competition for the worst Biden appointment.

In February, the Senate narrowly confirmed Dr. Robert Califf as commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  The vote was 50-to-46 (6 Republicans supported him, 5 five who caucus with Democrats opposed him, and one senator voted present).

In fact, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) wanted the nomination withdrawn completely.

…Manchin called on Mr. Biden to withdraw the nomination in an opinion essay, noting that while Dr. Califf pledged to make changes the last time he was commissioner, the F.D.A. approved five new opioids in 2016 and 2017.

“I have never been more profoundly confident of a vote I’m going to cast than I am right now,” Mr. Manchin said in a fiery floor speech on Monday, directly placing partial blame for the worsening epidemic on Dr. Califf. Opposition to his nomination, Mr. Manchin added, would “send a message to this administration, to our president, that we need a new direction at the F.D.A.”

“We need people who want to protect us,” he concluded, “not people who allow drugs to destroy us.”

Biden might be wishing he heeded Manchin. Califf is now using his position to assert the senseless idea that “misinformation” is a leading cause of death in the nation.

Newly confirmed Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Robert Califf says “the issue that keeps him up at night… is the proliferation of false and misleading health information, particularly online — and the distrust in institutions, data, and expertise that it has wrought.”

So reports Alice Miranda Ollstein of Politico for the Association of Health Care Journalists, from an interview AHCJ patient-safety team leader Kerry Dooley Young conducted with Califf on Friday in Austin at Health Journalism 2022, AHCJ’s annual conference.

“I believe that misinformation is now our leading cause of death,” Califf said, citing resistance to COVID-19 vaccination, the number of people taking the anti-parasite drug Ivermectin, and increasing use of electronic cigarettes.

“Historically, the FDA has been relatively quiet and puts out definitive information through guidance or labels or regulatory actions … that would be transmitted to consumers and patients through trusted intermediaries,” he said. “But the world has changed at this point.”

However, during an interview with CNN’s Pamela Brown, FDA chief Dr. Robert Califf noted he could not “quantify” the impact of misinformation on death rates.

I have to acknowledge there is no way to quantify this. So, I can’t say the numbers come out just like they would for heart disease or cancer.

Then he “sciences” his assertions to support the Disinformation Board and its goals that the current administration has touted.

Of course, Califf neglects to mention any of the following:

Senator Tom Cotton reminded Califf that food, and not misinformation about disinformation, is actually on the FDA agenda.

Senator Tom Cotton today wrote to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Robert Califf demanding answers about the dangerous shortage of infant formula and asking how the FDA is planning to combat the issue.

In part, Cotton wrote, “Millions of babies rely on formula for their nutritional needs. Major retailers are limiting the amount of infant formula customers can purchase per visit, and families are being forced to pay higher prices and fees to obtain adequate food for their child. This places an additional burden on hardworking Americans already spending more on necessities due to inflation.”

Of course, now it’s time to worry about the baby formula crisis. Never doubt the ability of a Biden appointee to muck things up.

“Misinformation” – yet another cudgel they intend to pummel ideological opponents with.

Information that misinformation is the leading cause of death in the U.S.?

These guys sure do tautology right.

I forgot that lying causes heart attacks and strokes.

Someone put this clown out of his misery. His statement in and of itself was laughable misinformation.

Off-topic for those following along at home: I’m out of the hospital and sleeping in my own bed thank goodness. My morale has gone through the roof needless to say. I’m still having the fatigue bouts and I still have this unexplained dry cough. But, I think I’m getting better and the fever spikes are gone. More news as warrants.

    Great news

Oh! Thank goodness. My prayers are answered. Get well soon.

Maybe not, Peabody. While doing their scans they found a virtual shopping list of other things I have to get fixed. Everything from a kidney stone to a heart repair. This happens later in life: the warranty has expired.

How soon do you epect to do this? You just got home, so hopefully they will give you time to recuperate before doing repairs. Hopefully this will take care of the bouts of fatigue.

If this is what I suspect, that is, Velley Fever”, it will have about run its course in another few days. I have several follow-ups as well.

June 1 is a full body PET scan to make sure the hand cancer removed last fall has not spread. If I am clear, then I can start making arrangements to get his other junk taken care of. None of those things are in themselves insurmountable, but, I am really getting a bit bored with my calendar consisting of 85% doctor appointments!

          85% doctor appointments?
Okay, well then make sure the other 15% are really, really fun and enjoyable things so that you will relish your life.

May I suggest White House press conferences?

When you’re all done you’re gonna have a pretty long “organ recital”.

Afterwards, I prescribe travel, lots of travel. Maybe we can get together.

Kidney stones are treatable. Heart repairs are – thank goodness – repairable.
My father had a triple bypass in his 60s and lived to his late 90s.

Thanks for the update… Getting home is a big deal… Hospitals are full of sick people.

Hang in there brother!

Misinformation is leading cause of death?

What we really need is the death of misinformation in order that we might live.

Highly reminiscent of Soviet Russia; y’know, the Russia we used to laugh at and thank G-d we weren’t living under that regime

Balderdash!

That’s an interesting statement since the U.S. government is the leading purveyor of misinformation, especially where the scamdemic is concerned.

Ironclaw in reply to Ironclaw. | May 11, 2022 at 3:02 pm

Or, more properly any medical information they put out within the past few years. I’ll believe none of it without confirming it with multiple sources. I’m done with these lying scumbags.

    nordic_prince in reply to Ironclaw. | May 11, 2022 at 4:12 pm

Not to mention the USDA dietary guidelines that are more about creating demand for Big Ag and Big Pharma products than they are about encouraging nutrition and natural health.

The ‘US Government’. There was a time it was our ally, not our enemy.

And speaking of baby formula, Brian Craig floats a theory that the shortage of premade BF is consistent with the fedguv buying it up to hand it out to illegals with babies. He notes there is no shortage of the cheaper powdered BF, and of course the fedguv can’t expend the manpower to mix mass quantities, and doesn’t care about the price difference as it’s only our money.

Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right,

Well, I’m glad that I’m among Legal Insurrection and its commenters.

The only way this guy could have gotten his job is if he put a lot of “misinformnation” on his resume. Without that, he wouldn’t appear to be qualified.

Califf’s bare statement is provably correct. Misinformation put out by the CDC about the vaccines being “safe and effective” is in fact the biggest killer in America today.

We know this from the huge increase in all-cause mortality that has afflicted every highly vaccinated country, increases that are clearly NOT explained by Covid deaths. This is clearest in the UK national health system data, which breaks its all-cause-mortality statistics down by vaccination status and age group.

For all age groups, the UK data show that vaccination correlates with roughly a doubling of all-cause mortality, and that relationship has to be causal. It is not just coincident with the vaccine roll out, it is coincident with being one of the people who got vaccinated.

Something that causes a doubling of all-cause mortality is causing more deaths than any of the other causes of mortality. It is the biggest killer, and that biggest killer is the mRNA vaccines, together with the ongoing lie that they are “safe and effective.”

UK mortality data analyzed here:
https://excessburden.substack.com/p/all-cause-mortality-by-vaccination?s=r

Misinformation that he can’t define or quantify is the leading cause of death. Umm, no. Watch for the FDA power grab regarding this BS as cause for the disinformation board to create a list of offenders for the Homeland goons to curb stomp. Yea America, land of the free….

The most harmful misinformation came from government experts about COVID, so…

Has even a single person died from Ivermectin?

Disinformation: Just-In-Time delivery. In Stork They Trust

Funny. The FDA has been wrong so many times, I don’t think anyone associated with that agency has the right to opine about misinformation. I still remember when the FDA thought natural saturated fats were “dangerous” and pushed to replace it with man-made transfats, which killed millions over the decades. The FDA use to think eggs were bad for you, but generations of bodybuilders who consume dozens of eggs a day beg to differ. So while bodybuilders from the 1970s through the 2000s consistently remained healthy despite egg intake, the general population was plagued with an increasing rate of obesity and heart disease. If the FDA wants to combat misinformation, they should have a policy of extreme transparency, and not try to hide things for 20-40 years stuck in litigation.

And let’s not forget their sainted Food Pyramid… that they had to turn upside-down.

    1950. Salt causes hypertension.
1960. Salt does not cause hypertension.
    1970. Salt causes hypertension.
    1980. Salt relieves hypertension.
1998. The AMA Journal concludes: “salt does not affect hypertension in any way.”

As he spreads disinformation, he claims that he’s kept awake at night by disinformation.

The Commissioner is trying to connect what he sees as the number one health problem supporting the Disinformation Board. A DHS board is allegedly supposed to be directed at foreign “disinformation,” not domestic disinformation.

Yes, being misinformed on medical issues is a problem that contributes to death rates. From my perspective, if you total up the number of deaths related to Leslie’s and Senator Cotton’s list, the number of total casualties is far higher than deaths resulting from misinformation or disinformation.

If the Commissioner is being kept up at night, I have a few suggestions. Shut off your electronics a half-hour before bedtime. Drink a warm glass of milk. It’s a lovely time of the year to open the bedroom window. Better yet, take an FDA-approved sleep aid.

He may well be right. More people died of COVID than should have, if the FDA/NIH/CDC hadn’t misinformed the public about procedures to avoid being hospitalized with COVID. They should have had home tests available sooner AND had antibody tests available. If you had COVID and had antibodies, you wouldn’t need to get the vaccine, all evidence shows that. Imagine if all you needed was an up-to-date antibody certificate!

So, yes, misinformation can be a killer but FDA should look in the mirror first.

“Biden’s FDA Chief Asserts “Misinformation” is Leading Cause of Death in Nation”

Absolutely true. And it’s the endless misinformation from the FDA that causes the most harm.

Radical liberalism/socialism is what is killing our country and Conservatives are beginning to fight back!

He is absolutely correct. Misinformation is causing loss of life and putting millions at risk.
We have to get the Government out of the health business before they finish us all off.
Oh, and their bio-warfare program is treasonous.
You don’t farm that work out to the adversary and expect them not to use it on you.
