When Fascism Comes To America, It Will Look Like Justin Trudeau’s Canada

Trudeau’s dangerous not just because he’s abusing Canadians, but because he is providing the wish list for crackdowns by Democrats in the U.S.: “every single bank, credit union, investment broker and insurance provider in the country has been deputized to figure out if they have a blockader as a client, and to immediately freeze their accounts if so.”

If Justin Trudeau had merely removed trucks from blocking a bridge in protest of vaccine mandates, it would be no big deal. Protesters for various causes routinely get removed from blocking traffic.

But that’s not all Justin Trudeau did. He suspended civil liberties in Canada, targeting peaceful protesters and anyone who supports them. Not because those supporters committed a crime, but because they supported the political opposition to Trudeau’s government.

Trudeau ordered all financial institutions to freeze the assets of his political opposition without court order and with full immunity from liability, and no financial asset was spared.

“The names of both individuals and entities as well as crypto wallets have been shared by the RCMP with financial institutions and accounts have been frozen and more accounts will be frozen.”

Trudeau has weaponized and commanded the private sector to do the government’s bidding in crushing political dissent. The Toronto Sun reported (emphasis in original):

One of the most far-reaching implications of the Emergencies Act is what it prescribes for the Canadian financial system. According to the government’s new Emergency Economic Measures Orderevery single bank, credit union, investment broker and insurance provider in the country has been deputized to figure out if they have a blockader as a client, and to immediately freeze their accounts if so.

Under normal circumstances, private companies arbitrarily seizing the assets of their clients is a great way to get sued. But the order makes clear that “no civil proceedings lie against an entity for complying with this Order.”

As for who can be targeted by these measures, that’s pretty broad too. The official proclamation says it applies to anyone participating in a “public assembly that may reasonably be expected to lead to a breach of the peace.” The general idea was to turn the blockaded areas of Ottawa into a “no-go” zone where anyone within could be arrested or their accounts frozen, but the Emergencies Act could conceivably be applied to anyone else interfering with “critical infrastructure” or disrupting the “movement of persons.”

It’s why Attorney General David Lametti seemed to say on CTV Wednesday that anyone who donated to Freedom Convoy could potentially face seeing their accounts frozen by the federal government. The question from host Evan Solomon was “A lot of folks said, ‘I just don’t like your vaccine mandates and I donated to this … should I be worried that the bank can freeze my account?’” To this, Lametti replied, “If you are a member of a pro-Trump movement who is donating hundreds of thousands of dollars, and millions of dollars to this kind of thing, then you ought to be worried.”

The goal is not just to crush political dissent, it’s to crush the opposition’s spirit by depriving them of their livelihoods, ability to survive financially, and even taking their pets.

Fascism is an overused and elastic term that in our politics mostly is used against Republicans for anything liberals don’t like. Donald Trump calling people names on Twitter is not fascism.  Justin Trudeau commanding private businesses unilaterally and without legal consequence to freeze the assets of his political opposition and their supporters is fascism.

Trudeau is dangerous not just because he’s abusing Canadians, but because he is providing the wish list for crackdowns by Democrats in the U.S.

We see it already. Big tech corporations do the Democrats’ bidding in silencing critics through deplatforming, censoring content from publication or social media sharing, deplatforming websites from hosting companies and, as in the case of Parler, from the cloud and app stores. Funding platforms like GoFundMe are pressured to suspend fundraising and deprive the beneficiary of the donations, and payment processors and banks are pressured to cut off deplorables. Removing the political opposition from the modern financial and technology systems is what Justin Trudeau is doing, and it’s the dream of the political progressives in the U.S.

It’s already happening here, though not with the brazenness of Trudeau. The Biden administration gives cover to and enourages every one of the actions listed in the preceding paragraph by declaring political opposition domestic terrorists (even parents at school boards), and by broadly blurring the distinction between policial dissent and terrorism. Social media platforms openly are solicited by the Biden administration to crack down on dissent.

The situation here is not yet as dire as in Canada. And I still believe our courts and collective national will would not allow what is happening in Canada to happen here. But I also never thought the government would be empowered as it was, with scant judicial interference, in locking down the country for Covid, or that private citizens would become the government’s enforcers.

When fascism comes to America, it will look like Justin Trudeau’s Canada.

          The role of the U.S. government in the rise of Canadian fascism was that dozens of Republican AGs forced an American private company to step back and change its mind about keeping money people gave it without reading the user agreement.

          I think more accurately, it should be described as ‘every single entity you cite is controlled by an elitist cabal.’ That cabal controls the government…our government and apparently many others as well.

          At one point just a few years ago, Republicans were nominally in charge of ‘The Government’ by holding the White House, Congress and the US Supreme Court all at the same time. But, as we now know, this elitist cabal – comprised of titans of commerce and the politicians and bureaucrats they’ve groomed – never really relinquished control. Donald Trump was never really in charge of his own Administration and even at times, not even his own West Wing.

          If you want to know who runs the country and what their agenda is, you probably need access to the notes from the Bilderberg Meetings from the last couple decades.

          Barry, I believe you have it backwards, those high tech companies are the one controlling government. Their campaign contributions, picking and choosing which parties, office holders, candidates they choose to push or deplatform.
          They also have the close ties through government contracts, sharing or withholding data.

          The old saying follow the money is apt. And in that case, ask yourself, who has the most money to corrupt the system? Big Tech? Or the federal government? We both know the answer to this. The source of those bribes by “High Tech” companies are probably from the coffers of taxpayer money.

          My view is that these folks are like interchangeable parts. The people flow back and forth from the corporate world to government to the media. You can call it collusion or a symbiotic relationship and you would be correct. It’s a single minded group of elitists committed to the fundamental transformation of our Constitutional Republic to a fascistic government run by them and their “experts.”

      If our government, or branches thereof, doesn’t protect individuals from government, then what does?

      To me, it seems damned obvious that an individual is generally helpless against government actions, as helpless as he is against the mob, against some democratic majority, or some tiny but powerful minority. Hell, we can’t even protect ourselves against individual actors.

      The Constitution itself is nothing but a scrap of paper. The individual rights it confers can only be enforced by using the coercive arm of the government to remedy a rights violation, and such remedies are imposed by government after the fact.

      If protecting themselves from either other individuals or government was the only avenue individuals had at their disposal, what else would we have but anarchy?

      I’m asking.

    Our Constitution doesn’t require us to depend on government to protect our rights. Even if it did, it would have been stupid for the Founders to write it that way.

        You and Thomas Jefferson don’t see eye to eye. The Bill of Rights are given by the government… rather it restricts government… as Prez Obama noted.

          The Constitution says that the 2nd amendment was issued in order to make sure the populace was armed in order to make it easier for the U.S. Government to call up militia. It is the only example of the framers placing their reasoning into the amendment itself.

          There is nothing in the constitution that permits rebellion. Constitution actually punishes you for rebelling against the government (of you are convicted of insurrection you lose your political rights even after your sentence is served).

          What we have is ability to use government to secure our rights, we could either do that by wielding political power or keep on sloganeering. So what will it be build your own google, build your own financial institution or use of government in establishing good law?

          Is that statement in the Constitution? I think the Declaration made clear that folks only resort to such action, I don’t recall the words, but something like only after all avenues toward redress of grievances have been exhausted.

          Identify a tyranny by a stream of abuses, not by a usurpation or two, two or three which we might withstand.

        agree that while we may not have the specific “right to rebel” we do have a duty, which goes far beyond a mere right and that duty IS specific in our constitution–when our government(which is granted it’s power by the “consent of the governed”)no longer serves the will of the people, it is our duty to change or replace it–and it is our duty not just to ourselves but also to those who will come afterward–it is a part of the “social contract”

          How about trying to use the system the founding fathers gave us first, try using the political power people routinely vote to give us, and drop this squishy Randian “MUH BIG GOVERNMENT!!!” nonsense before we even consider saying civil war? That duty you stated is by definition a civil war.

          Concerned finance has been experimenting with debanking? There is a congress for that for a national level ban on that, and there is a state house waiting that could act if you get the Randianism out of the way.

          Concerned about corporate America forcing us to either adopt leftism or be fired? Again there is a state house waiting that could easily make a massive difference.

          The threat to our liberty isn’t coming from government, and the only place we are capable of meeting the left on equal terms is in government.

          2A is very clearly not a right to resist a lawful government. It may have the effect of discouraging government tyranny but again you could just revisit the text.

          I largely agree with you here. We should always first seek to use the political process and petition govt for redress.

          However, you made two statements I disagree with:
          1. We shouldn’t resist ‘lawful’ commands of the state

          Where the govt allows and in Biden’s case, encourages non state actors to censor or replay form or refuse to provide financial services that’s a problem. The govt colluding even tacitly with non state entities to achieve goals that would be unconstitutional if done by govt directly isn’t lawful. These corporations are all too eager to enforce their own ideological standards despite being regulated entities and thus in many respects adjunct govt entities.

          I would challenge anyone to make the case that the founders would support civil asset forfeiture. This is currently ‘lawful’ but seems antithetical to the ideals of our founding fathers.

          Again to be very clear we should always first seek to use our political system before resorting to other means.

          The founders had civil asset forfeiture. It was part of the laws they inherited and made no effort to change, nor did they refrain from using it. But not nearly on the scale it’s used today.

        You obviously haven’t read our Declaration of Independence. Read it! Not only do we have a GOD-GIVEN RIGHT to rebel, we have an obligation to topple a tyrannical government when “in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to desolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impede to the separation.”

          My understanding is that only insurrection against the U.S. (or giving aid or comfort to enemies of the U.S.) while holding an office that requires taking an oath to uphold the Constitution bars one from holding political office. Even this Constitutional provision can be overcome if 2/3 of both Houses of Congress vote to allow said person to run for/hold office.

          14th Amendment, Section 3:

          No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

          You seem to be painting with a much broader brush here.

          Phil, you are conflating two different founding documents here and creating an unnecessary cognitive dissonance that weakens your point.

          The Declaration of Independence was penned prior to the Revolutionary War and was the list of grievances against the crushing tyranny of England. It was not a statement of our government as it came to be formed in the United States Constitution some 11 years later, after we had gained our independence.

          The list of grievances from the Declaration is certainly key to understanding the foundations and the debates surrounding the Constitutional republic that was to be formed in its and the Revolutionary War’s wake, but it is not part of the Constitution that created these United States. The distinction is important.

          The Founders, who charged maybe Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin to do the yeoman’s rhetorical work, published the Declaration of Independence, with less concern toward the items in their bitch list than with concern toward establishing for themselves and for the world courts that their bitches against George were categorically justified.

          @Fuzzy. I am not conflating anything. The US Constitution is NOT our founding document. That is the Declaration of Independence around which our Constitution was designed. It was a response to King George III declaring war against the colonies in his annual opening statement to the Parliament in January 1776. Up to that point, the colonists were only protesting. But the king declared war and forced colonists to either relent and become another Ireland or fight the war. Eventually, they agreed to declare their independence and that declaration created our philosophical basis for the Revolution. No Declaration of Independence, no United States of America, no US Constitution.

          “God-given inalienable rights” gives us the high ground to rebel against any government that presumes to take them away. That’s what made the Declaration and the Constitution the pinnacle of the Age of Enlightenment.

          You are misreading the Constitution if you don’t understand where the Constitution comes from. If you haven’t read the many excellent books on the “Philadelphia Miracle”, you should. The God-given rights in the Declaration of Independence laid out why we have an obligation to fight ANYONE who presumes to take them away, fight the world if we must. It’s us and God vs the world. That’s what gives the US Constitution a chance succeed. Only a moral people can be free. Everything tried before it had failed.

          The older I get, the more frustrating it become that so few people have even read the Declaration of Independence nor the US Constitution. These documents represent the pinnacle of the Age of Enlightenment. They are bold and brash declarations in the face of tyranny. Explains much about why so many here believe that we will be saved by the lawyers. NO! We will be saved by an inspired and determined PEOPLE.

          It’s like Victor Davis Hanson says, the Constitution is just a piece of paper. If only one side considers itself bound by it, it has no power and leaves a vacuum. We are now going to turn to lawyers when time is short to appeal to corrupt courts assembled by corrupt politicians who operate as a Uniparty mafia?

      That’s just not true. That’s exactly what the founders required. Law.

      Limited government, government limited by Rule of Law, laws general, not arbitrary, no on high decisions making the laws unpredictable like the ones we are subject to now, not some ad hoc notion of laws, not laws written as a reaction to a particular circumstance.

      Laws known in advance so that citizens, and all other individuals, alien and purple cant be flummoxed under authority of some law that even the judges and professors have to claim ignorance until they spend weeks in a law library trying to remove their own ignorance to hold forth on a decision which may destroy life or property or both.

    Unfortunately, if “Trudeau” fascism came fully to America, it would quickly devolve into a violent and bloody affair.

Men of today will not fight for paper, they will not fight for values or morals. Why do people think that Canada has the same Constitution and rights that we have? If they tried it here, we would scream, but as Biden pointed out recently, the population is no match for the military since they have nukes and F15s. He really said that. The sad thing is, he’s kinda right. There’s not much we can do except destroy ourselves in the process. Very few of us are self sufficient enough to exist without a stable society.

    You don’t have to shoot down a plane that can’t take off.

    Modern war machinery needs a stable line of logistics to secure fuel and spare parts. Such stability would be impossible to ensure in a civil war scenario because the enemy is inside your own infrastructure, and well-motivated to disrupt it whenever possible.

    As for nukes, that would be like swatting flies in your house with a shotgun. Collateral damage would be immense and inevitable. And good luck growing anything in the irradiated soil afterwards. Breaking an arm to punch out the devil.

      And guerrilla wars are very hard to fight, especially if they’re civil wars. How strong is the left’s support in the USA, 30%? How will that play out if they start nuking Iowa?

      Also, once people lose faith in their financial institutions all bets are off.

        Remember much of the reason the British lost in the AmRev. Logistics. So long as they could stay near ports, the British Army could hold fixed positions. Venture too far inland? Read about the Overmountain Men. My own family fought on the NY frontier. Most of it was skirmishing to remove Loyalists and deny flow of supplies to the British. And it was low scale, nasty and didn’t conform to the “Laws of War” on either side. But it worked. But folks really don’t want to see what warfare looks like when the warring populations are enmeshed with each other.

          You are making an excellent point. There are large areas of our country where the people know how to exist on their own and are easily defended against our military with its heavy dependence on logistics and technology. These areas also produce a lot of things like food and energy and are located where they can interdict major transportation routes.

Democrats have already used private businesses to enforce illegal mandates.
C0ps are getting a bad rep. They’re going to have to ask themselves whether their oath to the Constitution is what they’re willing to serve.0

    Why expect them to start now? They made their decision extremely clear after Katrina, at Charlottesville, and during the Antifa/BLM riots. Cops serve the signature on their paycheck. The few who have any ethics at all resign, leaving the remaining cops to serve the signature on their paycheck. Cops are not any sort of independent moral force, they are now nothing but NPCs who enforce for the Boss.

      Your customer is the person who pays you. For the cops at this point the relationship is transactional. The oath they take is actually in conflict with the transactional relationship when the person paying is a criminal. We need the cops to adhere to the ethical dimension of the oath and to stop being paid thugs for the criminals in control of the government. The “defund the police” was designed to drive out the ethical cops. Some are still there. I hope it is enough.

    It is unlikely that those are semi-automatic AR15s being carried by the cops, whether Ottawa or Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Just as with US law enforcement, the rifles/carbines are far more likely to be a select fire (i.e. full auto capable) M16/CAR4 variant, real weapons of war and not semi-automatic AR15s and clones never issued by any military but anti-gun rhetoric claimed to be “weapons of war”.

The fate of one is shared by all. Even if you disagree with the persecuted, if you let the persecution stand, you’re opening the door to it happening to you and yours down the road.

The number of pols who during the shutdown arranged for themselves banquets, vacations, salon/spa trips, etc., was the most eye-opening for me – in terms of motive. The middle-class have become too affluent – the “good life” too attainable – thereby denying the elites from exclusive use of services, destinations, etc.

Do they really think they can destroy our wealth, income, opportunity, freedom, and we’ll continue to serve them? Have they considered that Americans will go scorched earth on their a$$es if they do? If the middle class simply walks off the job en masse? They have not thought this through at all – as in “what comes after destruction”?

In this country, any “private” institution complying with (what will eventually be adjudicated to be) unlawful government orders would be considered a “state actor,” and therefore in the breach for violation of constitutionally-guaranteed rights. Financial institutions would be much better off to resist following such orders until threatened and coerced into following them. Only that way might they pass the buck for the injury.

I don’t see a lot of difference between Canada and US governments at this time. Both are taking actions against their citizen critics.

Courts have been of near-zero value over the last 2 years as our rights have been stripped away.     Commonwealth countries in general have been used as little test tubes to experiment with the rights violations out own fedguv would love to impose, but that public pressure here made particularly difficult. For the moment we still, collectively as a Nation, have enough people who haven’t abandoned the political process. The midterm elections offer the possibility for electoral change in DC and at the State level to alter the trajectory of our Nation. The problem, IMO, is the very real question of will the political class/elites actually adhere to the policy preferences expressed at the ballot? Will they instead declare that they are unable to even vote on certain aspects because of the threat of a Biden veto?

Will they use the expected legislative majorities to consistently force the advancement of the policy preferences of the populist right/Tea Party/MAGA or will establishment figures like McCarthy, McConnell or Graham, among others, offer excuses and kubuki theatre? The patience of the average citizen is running thin and more delays and DC inside baseball that may excite the media will cause further erosion of trust in our system. At some point the very real danger is that a critical mass of citizens become so disillusioned with feckless politicians that they withdraw their consent to be governed. Our political leadership should keep this very real possibility in mind as we come closer each day to that inflection point.

      Several reasons to be encouraged:
      1. The electoral shenanigans were not evenly distributed across every State much less every CD or precinct.
      2. Many States, more than 2 dozen at last count, have already made serious reforms to mitigate shenanigans
      3. Some States already had sufficient ballot integrity and security measures in place that prevented widespread shenanigans
      4. Many more people are aware of the potential for shenanigans, are paying attention and on the lookout for shenanigans

      Finally the populist right is figuring out how to organize lawfare operations for elections and funding them for future elections to counter d/prog efforts.

It’s time for the police in Ottawa to stand in solidarity against what they know is wrong and stand down. Refuse to obey orders as pertains to the peaceful truckers protest. Especially while the fascistic policy of freezing protestors’ and supporters’ assets is going on.

The police need to be on the side of the people. “To protect and to serve” the people, including when their government grossly abuses its power against the people. It’s cold there now. There should be a “blue flu” spreading like wildfire.

    It’s happening in the way that early retirements are growing. I don’t think the new recruits replacing them think the same way and the beleaguered experienced cops remaining are just counting the days to retirement. But there have been reports of cops refusing to participate in the police actions or walking away from their posts. I just don’t know how reliable those reports are.

No. It will not look like this in America. Because conservatives are armed with hundreds of millions of guns, and we are willing to kill and die for our freedoms. The left has no idea what is coming to them.

And not a peep from the NYS Bar Assn or NY Law Journal.

Laws and constitutions won’t preserve our freedom if our society and institutions have abandoned the values of law and freedom.

EVEYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING, occurring here, in Canada, around the world now in terms of crushing the freedoms and will of the citizenry has been going on for decades, only accelerated and amped up by the introduction of Covid. The Presidency of DJT threatened the whole plan and design, this his necessary destruction, and any who “think” likewise. Even he had zero clue what was going on in the dark chambers of world governments, the depth and breadth of it all. The US has been a thorn in the side of the planners and plotters of this “Mew World Vision” and it is paramount that it, and anything resembling Western democratic values must be totally dismantled in order to bring their top down control into reality. They have been working on this for a long time, and have had their people in place around the world in every government to help it along. They are very close now to making it a reality. They are hellbent at this point to complete the plan, and no pesky “upstart” is going to stand in their way – they could care less what methods they have to use or the outcry that may result. They are on a mission.
It will get very, very ugly – uglier – before it gets better, if it ever does.

We are about 3/4 of the way there. The politicians, both Rs and Ds, with only about 13 exceptions in Congress, don’t represent the people. They represent themselves and global corporations. They are ruining the country. We must aggressively clean up our local elections starting with transparent published voter rolls and thorough election audits and consequences for fraud. There are no other immediate solutions.
