University of Oregon Discussion Calls Thanksgiving a Celebration of ‘Ongoing Genocide’

“I’ve begun healing from Thanksgiving by going into the woods and camping, harvesting, meditating, and reading”

The contempt some people on the left feel for America comes out very strongly at this time of year.

Campus Reform reports:

‘A celebration of the ongoing genocide’: Workshop suggests ‘reparations,’ ‘National Day of Mourning’ to ‘decolonize’ Thanksgiving

Two University of Oregon alumni spearheaded an hour-long discussion Thursday titled “Thanks, But No Thanks-giving: Decolonizing an American Holiday.”

The event description promoted the virtual workshop as a discussion about how we can “continue to show gratitude while raising our critical consciousness and identifying ways to decolonize the holiday.”

“The main messages are that of gratitude, food, and family; however, Thanksgiving is, foundationally speaking, a celebration of the ongoing genocide against native peoples and cultures across the globe,” the description reads.

Alumna and activist Dakota Maccoll and Native American Liaison University Counselor Jorney Baldwin, a university Native American Liaison, led the conversation, which began with the playing of the University of Oregon Land Acknowledgement.

During the presentation, attendees were encouraged to reflect upon their own experiences with Thanksgiving, and how they can “Indigenize” the holiday.

“I’ve begun healing from Thanksgiving by going into the woods and camping, harvesting, meditating, and reading,” one participant said.

Maccoll recounted her own holiday plans, detailing her intent to observe the National Day of Mourning by visiting Alcatraz.

Shouldn’t those who believe our immigration to these lands is genocide be obligated to leave immediately and turn their possessions over to those they believe are the rightful owners?

Leftists are aghast whenever anyone suggests that they make the logical sacrifices that they demand of everyone else. They just want other people — usually “the rich” — to make the sacrifices. (and the rest of us end up being “the rich.”) They also want all our lives to be controlled by the government — as long as THEY are running the government.

Is it just me, or this the way that people with no friends typically celebrate the holidays.

Make sure you maintain an inviting aura. You may be fortunate enough to make friends with a cruelly-displaced indigenous bear or wolf.

When these types pick on our settlement of these continents, they emphasize several fraudulent assertions:
That the peace-loving natives had no experience with violence; that our forebears forced that on them.
That there were no other overt wars occurring in the world at that time except our invasive attacks. Therefore this was outrageous behavior of that period. (BS!!)
That the majority of natives died from our aggressions (they died from infections Europeans unwittingly brought, to which the Indians had no immunity.)
That they were “Natives”. They were NOT. They immigrated from Eastern Asia.
That somehow some history is evil. It’s not history that’s evil. It’s people. There are good folks all over the place. They generally are demolished by the villains of their time. Like the Leftists and Rightists of today. This will be resolved soon, as China, India, Turkey, and Iran take over the world. Then let’s see what the no-brainers think about how we were, back before such conquests crumbled their freedom and vastly reduced their lifestyles.
There apparently is a strong trait in human psychology which predisposes to violence and stupidity. It was bad enough when gunpowder was invented. Now, with nuclear weapons, this all may soon not matter. And evolution can begin again, hopefully with better outcomes next time.
