University of Connecticut Declares Racism a ‘Public Health Crisis’ After Pressure From Student Government

The people who want the government to run healthcare think racism is a health problem. What could go wrong?

Students demanded racism be named a ‘public health crisis,’ the university agreed
After pressure from student activists, the University of Connecticut has declared racism a “public health crisis.”
The university’s interim president, Andrew Agwunobi, released a statement September 22 that lauded UConn’s Undergraduate Student Government for asking that the school “follow the state [of Connecticut] in declaring racism a public health crisis.”
Agwunobi’s statement referenced the Connecticut’s House of Representatives passing legislation June 1 that named racism as a public health crisis in a 114-33 vote.
“We will continue to evaluate and strive to improve the recruitment and retention of people of color throughout the university,” Agwunobi stated.
Agwunobi also touted the school’s various diversity committees, task forces, and anti-racism classes, which includes an Anti-Black Racism class that has a module on health inequities.
UConn’s move follows an April 8 announcement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention calling racism an “epidemic.”
CDC director Rochelle Walensky, a former Harvard Medical School professor, said this spring, “What we know is this: racism is a serious public health threat that directly affects the well-being of millions of Americans.”

Indeed, the left has now internalized that “public health” destroys all constitutional protections. Or so they think.
Health officials using their emergency powers to address this ‘public health crisis’ would be interesting.
They would be best sticking to lead in paint, IMHO.
Of course it is a crisis, by having CRT now the foundation of this kendi promoted indoctrination of young people, aimed at White students, and whiteness, these recklessly irresponsible woke lunatics have viciously created a brutal and highly divisive atmosphere of hate towards whites.
As this is now becoming accepted by the uninforned ignorant leftist dupes, as well as institutes of higher education, the outcome is decidedly ominous and will wreak havoc with race relations that have become very normalized over the last few decades…. apart from the actions of radical extremists intent on creating social mayhem.
If the solution to a “public health crisis” is a mask mandate aren’t we echoing the KKK who had a white hood mandate? Perhaps the student government will call for research into an anti-racism vaccine.
I think the real point here is that resources (of both charities and taxpayers) are marshalled to address societal crises. There is no reason to believe that throwing more resources rapidly into “anti-racism” investments will produce quicker results than throwing resources rapidly into any other crisis. Anti-Semitism is a centuries-old problem and it takes time to address it. Anti-Palestinian sentiment is a centuries-old problem and anti-black sentiment is also a lingering problem. None of these will be solved by throwing more money at the CDC or at the Connecticut public health agencies. The UConn students must ask themselves whether the more that Connecticut public health officials are asked to address questions of race then less valuable time and resources remain to address problems that have medical solutions.
