Jen Psaki Repeats Lie That Massive Spending Bill Costs Zero Dollars

Jen Psaki Repeats Lie That Massive Spending Bill Costs Zero Dollars

“this is not going to cost the American public a dollar”

Now that the Democrats are considering slightly lowering the amount of their massive spending bill, Peter Doocy of FOX News asked Jen Psaki if they’re still standing by the absurd suggestion that the bill will cost zero dollars.

Naturally, she still claims that it won’t cost anything because it’s paid for.

Jon Brown reports at FOX News:

Psaki says $3.5T spending bill costs nothing for people earning less than $400K

White House press secretary Jen Psaki claimed Monday that President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda will cost nothing for Americans who make less than $400,000.

“Let’s not dumb this down for the American public here,” Psaki said in response to a question from White House correspondent Peter Doocy about whether the package will cost “zero dollars” as the president claimed last week. “What we’re talking about is how much the top-line investments are, which are all paid for, so therefore it costs zero. No matter what the size or the cost of the top-line investments are, we have ways to pay for it.

“So the point is that’s important to the American public — and all of your viewers, too — that this is not going to cost the American public a dollar,” she continued. “We’re going to pay for this by asking corporations, the highest income — so people under $400,000, I should say — corporations’ highest income to cover the costs of these necessary investments.

Here’s the video:

The White House is still pushing this ridiculous claim on Twitter as well.

Ben Shapiro recently put this in perspective. From CNS News:

This asinine notion immediately rocketed around the political sphere. White House press secretary Jen Psaki explained, “The reconciliation package will cost zero dollars.” Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) said, “This is a zero-dollar bill because it’s all going to be paid for with taxes on the wealthiest corporations and the wealthiest individuals, which makes it more popular than it even was before.” Members of the media began repeating the line ad nauseum. The reason was obvious: Democrats are trying to cudgel Republicans into acquiescing.

Putting aside the contention that Biden’s bill would be paid for through tax increases — a doubtful proposition, given that the Democrats have been playing accounting games by extending particular allowances for just a handful of years, or backloading new costs until years down the road — the baseline notion that government spending is zero-cost so long as it doesn’t take on new debt is bonkers. It’s the equivalent of arguing that so long as someone pays for a cocaine-fueled gambling binge in Vegas in cash, the experience has been cost-free.

Most people don’t understand what a massive number a trillion is. The White House is counting on that.

Hey, that’s great! If the 3.5 Trillion Spending Bill costs nothing why not negotiate it down to 1.5 and put the leftover 2 trillion in a CD and save it for a rainy day?

    RACIST MATH

If you think government programs cost money – you’re obviously a racist. Logic and reason are are just white supremacy. So, you see under the new WOKE MATH that Progressives have embraced, there is no debt limit. As long as you can print money – it costs you nothing.
    ___
The biggest threat to our country is not China or Russia – it is from within. From people who claim to believe this destructive bull shit. Do they really believe it? Or is it just a cover for a plan to undermine and destroy our society and turn us into a Cuba or Venezuela. Regardless of whether it is naïve or purposeful – the result is the same. My guess is that about 5% of Americans want to purposely destroy America and they have somehow convinced about 30% to 40% of people that adopting these destructive policies is somehow a way to signal their virtue.

This is a battle for Hearts and Minds – as any counter-insurgency operation knows. And the enemy is winning. The enemy is all those who hate America and want to see her destruction. The enemy is here – in America. It’s not in Vietnam or North Korea or Afghanistan. It is on our shores, in our cities, in our schools. We have just been slow in realizing that America is under attack.

Need to be more specific, who all exactly are the enemy?- and I agree we have many. Don’t forget to cite the leftist MSM that don’t expose this lie – IMO America’s real major enemy.

Sorry UserP… you could use woke math to subtract from my check book… Woke math never balances anything…

Yeah but that don’t matter. Woke math is beautiful. The guidance says “it will re-humanize mathematics through experiential learning and facilitate learning independently and interdependently.” That just makes a thrill go down my leg.

And if the administration can find a CD that pays interest at an annual rate of about 1300%, the national debt can be completely wiped out in about a year, just from the interest on that two trillion dollar CD.

I truly despise Tokyo Rose. So smug and arrogant, while being completely devoid of anything resembling intelligence.

What kind of sociopath do you need to be to go up there everyday and lie through your teeth, knowing damn well that’s what you are doing?

Vile is too soft a word for this POS.

Public Affairs types are all the same. They are concerned less with the truth than with making their organization (or boss) look as good as possible. If that entails stretching the truth, many times to a breaking point, well, so be it! They will tell the truth, but only when all other avenues are exhausted and they’re backed against a wall with a gun to his or her head.

    TX-rifraph in reply to donewiththis. | October 5, 2021 at 10:26 am

A fundamental principle for a Democrat (or RINO) is that the ends justify the means. A statement is not judged on the truth of its substance. It is judged on its effectiveness in achieving the desired ends. It is a principle that can justify nearly any evil. She was selected for this role as the ruling class thought she would be an effective liar. Socialists/Communists/totalitarians can never speak the truth. Further, they have contempt for the consumers of their lies so those consumers do not deserve the truth. Do you sense her contempt?

      donewiththis in reply to TX-rifraph. | October 5, 2021 at 11:06 am

TX-rifraph, I did indeed sense her contempt. I had to read 3 times what Mr. LaChance quoted here:

““Let’s not dumb this down for the American public here,” Psaki said in response to a question from White House correspondent Peter Doocy”

      And here:

“So the point is that’s important to the American public — and all of your viewers, too”

And I wonder if I am missing something. Did this commie #*&$ just tell Doocy that her followers are the Americans, and the rest of us are not. And we are all too stupid to understand her “nuance” and “context”? And that $3,500,000,000,000 = $0.00?

      I guess 2 + 2 = 5 won’t work for these bastards anymore.

I read the legislation cover to cover very thoroughly last night, and Psaki is actually correct, the cost is zero dollars. To be more specific, it is zero dollars and 350 trillion cents.

    What kind of sociopath?

    A Marxist sociopath.

The UK has this thing about Gingers… I never really understood, but,, now.. IDK…

“This is a zero-dollar bill because it’s all going to be paid for with taxes on the wealthiest corporations and the wealthiest individuals”

Who makes up those novelty bills with politicians’ faces on them? The $1000 Trump, the $3 Clinton? I think this calls for a $0 Psaki. ‘Worthless for all debts, public and corporate.”

Maybe the Cabal told Psaki to have the claims vetted by an expert economist… and she chose AOC.

AlecRawls in reply to donewiththis. | October 6, 2021 at 10:57 am

Orange Woman Bad, for reals this time.

Fix me another crap sandwich, Jen.

Hyper inflation would hit those making $400,000/yr and under harder than the taxes they supposedly won’t be paying. To Marxists, the currency IS the nation’s wealth. The government can simply print wealth until everyone is happy. Now everyone go back to frolicking in the park and dancing under the may pole. Working and saving money is for suckers.

I wonder if the middle to lower class is seeing this already? I don’t have a great job but I am solidly middle class and can at least for now get by.

Yesterday at the gas station saw these things. $4.50 a gallon for gas. Crappy gas station 7″ deli sandwich $5.99. Went to 5 guys.. Single bacon cheeseburger $7.50 (No fries/drink).

Last week for lunch I ordered some wings and fries and didn’t even look at the prices. Figured lunch special. $20.00 and another $3.99 for a drink. What really made it special was listening to the few servers that showed up to work complaining about $20.00/hour, and my male server serving my lunch with women’s Lee nails painted up all nice and colorful.

And I don’t live in freakyfornia, I am in flyover country.

Imagine making $30,000 a year and paying these prices?

These people have no clue what is coming. Guess they will survive on their welfare checks.

Check you expenses over the past year. For me, the biggest jump has been in food which is costing me more than twice what I spent last year. Gasoline doesn’t affect me much since I work at home but electricity is up too. It’s worse that it looks. Everything is being repackaged or reformulated to make you think the quantities and qualities are the same but they are not. We are sinking into a BS economy/society.

BTW, am I the only one who can’t log into California government websites? It looks like the entire state’s online system is down and has been for days. Is it just me? According to http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/insurance.ca.gov.html, that site has been down for over a week and queries about other sites tell me there has been a widespread internet problem statewide. Everything out here is falling apart.

My husband and I downsized… best we can do to combat this disaster on a limited income. Other retired friends are doing the same thing.

Venezuela used to be a rather wealthy country.

So it costs nothing because it is paid for. I can’t wait to use that one on my wife the next time I buy an expensive gun: “But dear, it didn’t cost anything, because it’s paid for.”

I have press secretary fatigue. Why this charade of some mid-brow functionary smirkingly telling patent falsehoods, and debating child reporters who were not smart enough to get real college degrees?

Inflation is the huge tax hike that is being imposed each and every day of biden’s term.

It is certain to get much, much worse.

My gas is now up by $1.45/gallon, since biden became president.

(I remember buying gas at 25 cents/gallon in the 1970’s during a Detroit gas war. )

Corporations do not pay taxes. If you tax Amazon or Walmart prices go up, wages stay down or dividends are cut. Mostly prices go up.

Disgusted in reply to Martin. | October 5, 2021 at 12:07 pm

Exactly! Corporate taxes are paid by customers, employees, and shareholders (think 401(k) and IRA)–most of whom make well under $400,000 per year.

      TX-rifraph in reply to Disgusted. | October 5, 2021 at 5:14 pm

Corporate taxes are always paid by the end user of the product or service. Corporate taxes also make the USA less competitive in the world market which is what the objective is i think.

They say it is paid for – it is paid for:

Remember, they don’t have to fool ALL off the people – just the ones who continue to vote D.

Right.
They’re going to tax “rich” corporations, who DEFINITELY won’t turn around and raise the prices they charge you.
And they’re monitoring all bank accounts with $600 balances or transactions because they need to get a handle on the finances of people making $400K annually.
I think I finally understand why they melted the schools to mental slag. Our masters are too inept to make up lies believable enough to fool people who have actually been educated properly.

2smartforlibs | October 5, 2021 at 10:23 am

The massive truth is that money has already been spent but the left thinks they can more it and spend it again.

Then my taxes should be ZERO.

Paid for thus zero cost? Both can’t be true but here’s a comprise. Earmark the funding sources the Biden Admin is claiming as pay for while by statute disallowing any other funding from any other sources. If truly paid for as claimed then it shouldn’t be an issue.

Then run a macro economic analysis of the impact on the overall economy with particular emphasis on those making $400K and below. Will their costs increase? Any way this is sliced it’s going to increase the aggregate costs via increased inflation if nothing else.

Somebody check my math. If a dollar bill is 0.0043 inches thick, and the moon is 238,855 miles away from our planet, then wouldn’t 3.5T dollars literally stack up to the moon?

Think that’s bad? Wait until our Marxist fascist federal government tells everyone its $30 trillion debt is now $0. Due to The Great Reset II. And revaluation if the currency. And the confiscation of everyone’s bank accounts.

The Ruling Class elites won’t be affected, of course. Because they knew was it coming and moved their assets elsewhere to protect them.

Think it can’t happen? Considering where we are now something like this is actually pretty much inevitable at some point in the future.

So their plan is to mug you, take a hundred dollars out of your right pocket, put fifty dollars in your left pocket, and demand that you feel incentivized to go out and do economic things once you quit bleeding all over the sidewalk.

Sounds like the Dem’s normal plan of operation.

Because the energy was already present and was net zero during the Big Bang, nothing actually happened and we don’t really exist.

Same concept applies here!

“We’re going to pay for this by asking corporations, the highest income — to cover the costs of these necessary investments.”

That’s the problem with counting your chickens before they’re hatched. The money you expect to come in won’t come in.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to UserP. | October 5, 2021 at 2:38 pm

Oh, the money will come in. And then those corporations forced to pay more taxes will simply add that to the bottom line cost of manufacturing their goods or providing their service. Then all those making $400,000 or less will be forced to pay the increased costs. And the sanctimonious a-holes sitting in the White House and in Congress can claim the increased costs are all due to the “evil corporations” and not them. Guaranteed.

I usually agree with most of what you post, but the fact is they’ll never get enough revenue from taxes to pay for this—it just isn’t there.

Plus it will cost more than what they project. The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB) looked at this and found that, thanks to various accounting and budgeting gimmicks, the $3.5 trillion bill’s cost is more in the $5.5 trillion range.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to UserP. | October 5, 2021 at 4:16 pm

Never said the democrats would get enough money to fund their lunatic agenda, just that they’d be able to extort extract money from the big corporations who in turn would pass that expense off onto the consumer. You know, those consumers that make less than $400,00/year.

Plus, when did a federal government program ever come in on budget or under. As far as i can tell none have ever done so. None.

“…those corporations forced to pay more taxes will simply add that to the bottom line cost of manufacturing their goods or providing their service.”

It’s not quite that simple because we live in a global economy and US companies have to compete with foreign companies that will not have to raise their costs. Additionally, there are lots of things are nice to have and not necessities, and people will simply quit buying them if the cost is too high.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to UserP. | October 5, 2021 at 4:38 pm

It actually is that simple. If the federal government increases the taxes on corporations then in response the corporations will add that additional expense to the bottle line production costs of their goods and/or services. What they will not do is take the hit on the bottom line.

And additionally, I’m not talking about those “nice things”. What I’m talking about is the basics, Toilet paper, food, medicine and the like. Just saying.

This is a global economy. American companies have to compete with foreign companies that will not have to raise their costs. Prices all over the world will not go up,

American companies sell lots of their products overseas. They will not be able to raise their prices in foreign markets because of foreign competition.

Well, let us cut to the chase. You may have an evil sounding name, but your words are those of an angel.

Actually, I would be all-in on soaking the rich and corporations, if it really happened. The rich are often hard-left extremists that fund all sorts of Communist organizations. That goes double for many corporate suits, which try to “out woke” each other. What is it to me if they get their asses kicked?

So make the rich and the corporate suits pay!

Of course, anyone who promises to raise taxes on corporations and the rich are lying. Corporations ALWAYS pass the costs of higher taxes onto the rest of us, and the Communist Party will always carve out enough tax breaks to keep the rich happy and getting richer. The gap between rich and poor ALWAYS grows by leaps and bounds when the Communists control the White House and Congress.

So instead of taxation, the Communists should flat-out confiscate. Reduce the total wealth of Bill Gates, Jack Dorsey, William Buffett Mark Zuckerberg and the rest of the Commie plutocrats to $40,000 per year by taking the rest. The same for corporate salaries – no yearly compensation over $40,000 per year for any woke corporate suit.

If we are to have Communism – and the woke corporations and rich are screaming for it at the top of their lungs – then let them join in the thrill of living paycheck to paycheck like the rest of us. Make them send their kids to gang and drug-infested public schools like the rest of us. Force the pampered spouses of the corporate suits and the rich to clip coupons and work two or more jobs to make ends meet like the rest of us. Let’s live the real Communist dream: Poverty and Misery for All.

henrybowman in reply to Recovering Lutheran. | October 5, 2021 at 8:13 pm

There was a wonderful demonstration I once saw on the web of why even entirely confiscating the wealth of the top 10% of Americans would not make a dent in government debt. It involved large plexiglass cabinets of colored ping-pong balls, and it was quite striking. Sadly, I have not been able to find it for years. Perhaps someone here has a pointer to it.

She’s correct… in a world with unlimited resources and accessibility.

    henrybowman in reply to n.n. | October 5, 2021 at 8:14 pm

Unfortunately, the very definition of economics is the study of allocating limited resources in a society with potentially unlimited demand.

At what point do moderate Democrats (assuming they exist) just decide that these people are just freaking crazy?

Just reminded me of the old referee interview with John Goodman. Could you see her taking questions like this, especially Lovitz’s.

“Most people don’t understand what a massive number a trillion is. The White House is counting on that.”

The last time I was in Zimbabwe the people who owned the guest house I stayed at in Harare before and after I killed my elephant were using a $15 trillion dollar bill as a book mark.

They’re just rubbing it in at this point. I hope everyone realizes that. They are telling you in front of God and everybody that they’re in charge and there is not a GOD DAMMED THING anyone can do about it.

Trillions equal zero. Got it, peasants?

OK, how many heart strings can we pluck, how many cultural metaphors can we fustercluck all in one wikipedia article? Answer. All of them. Even ones you didn’t imagine existed.

Does anyone living in the U.S. and/or Europe even fathom how rural Africans feel about 500 pound carnivorous cats living in their back yards? Would you like something like this living in your yard?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Cecil_the_lion#/media/File:Cecil_the_lion_at_Hwange_National_Park_(4516560206).jpg

Hanging out with your kids? When that Minnesota orthodontist killed that lion, my African friends were like, “Great. When can you damned yankees come back and kill more?”

When I killed my elephant my African friends were angry with me. Because I didn’t kill it soon enough. And I didn’t kill enough of his friends. And no I don’t speak Shona. But I’m learning Ojtiherrero because my adopted daughter speaks to fast for me. But the gist of it was, as I discovered later, Jesus Christ what took you so long? That thing and his three friends have been eating all the corn we need to live on for the next three years in only a week.

Man, those villagers were mad as scalded cats. But I just didn’t feel like committing suicide by wading into a corn field with 3 bull elephants on a moonless night. I waited until morning to get on it. The three young bulls were being really subtle. If you can call driving a Cadillac through a barn wall subtle. Not too hard to track, I must say.

I killed one bull. His two friends got the message and high-tailed it out of the neighborhood. The villagers got to keep the rest of the harvest.

Now is the time for me to tread carefully, as some might think I’m saying something I’m not. My God condescended to come to earth for the forgiveness of my sins. And believe me, buddy, I have a number of them. I, an Italian Catholic, put Christ on that cross. I don’t blame a group for Christ’s death. It’s what He was born to do.

But I am just wondering, what Christian does Jen or “Doctor” Jill think she’s they’re f***ing with?

Then, as I’ve heard many ask, myself included, why does the debt ceiling need to be raised if it’s going to cost “zero dollars”? I guess that, like so much else coming from this degenerate party, is aimed at the idiots who don’t know a damn thing that’s going on, but still vote.
