Democrats Worry Biden’s Domestic Agenda is Already Falling Apart

“If any member of Congress is not concerned that this could fall apart, they need treatment”

We are only nine months into Joe Biden’s presidency and many Democrats are already worried that the wheels are coming off. The massive $3.5 trillion spending bill they are trying to ram through keeps hitting roadblocks, and they know time is running out.

After all the massive failures we’ve witnessed in recent weeks, if their spending bill crashes and burns, it would be a massive embarrassment for this administration.

Politico reports:

Dems fear Biden’s domestic agenda could implode

Internal Democratic discord has wounded President Joe Biden’s massive social spending plan, raising the prospect that the package could stall out, shrink dramatically — or even fail altogether.

Myriad problems have arisen. Moderate Senate Democrats Joe Manchin (W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) continue to be a major headache for party leadership’s $3.5 trillion target. The Senate parliamentarian just nixed the party’s yearslong push to enact broad immigration reform. House members may tank the prescription drugs overhaul the party has run on for years. And a fight continues to brew over Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-Vt.) push to expand Medicare.

“If any member of Congress is not concerned that this could fall apart, they need treatment,” said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), who warned his party “will pay for it at the polls” if it fails in enacting Biden’s agenda. “Our caucus has the feeling of freedom to support or oppose leadership.”…

“I wish that we could all be more on the same page, in terms of timing, of the need to push the [American Families Plan],” said Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii). “I’m hopeful we are going to have a meeting of the minds and not wait until next year … we better have a Plan B.”

The far left members of the party are butting heads with the moderate wing:

A group of five to 10 House moderates have signaled to leadership that they would be willing to let the infrastructure bill fail rather than be held hostage by liberals over the broader spending bill.

As long as there is a single American still stranded in Afghanistan, Biden’s agenda should be completely frozen. We’ve heard rumblings like this from some Republicans, but it should be the party’s official stance.

Ed Morrissey of Hot Air commented on what this means for the 2022 midterms:

Guess what? Democrats have already started paying a price at the polls, and it’s not because the Biden agenda hasn’t passed. RealClearPolitics doesn’t chart their aggregate average on the generic congressional ballot question, but the numbers have been cutting away from Democrats over the summer. At the moment, Democrats are up by 1.3 points, thanks in part to an outlier +4 from Quinnipiac. That’s the first over-the-MoE lead Democrats have had since a May poll, also from Quinnipiac. Everything else has been a one-point difference.

Those who follow this trend understand that these narrow gaps do not portend a tie. This question routinely overfavors Democrats for various polling and structural reasons, but it’s generally assumed that anything less than a D+5 is bad news for Democrats — especially in a midterm with a Democratic president.

It’s important to note that all of Biden’s current problems are of his own making. Inflation, the border crisis, Afghanistan, all of it could have been prevented.

If Biden’s agenda goes off the rails, Democrats will have no one to blame but the engineer they put in charge.

There’s an engineer in charge of this train? Could have fooled me.

Don’t be fooled. “Jackass: The Presidency” was by design. All this “failure” is by design. All of it.

Then Bush finally shows his true colors.

Vax mandates, mask mandates, both internal and international travel bans, killing both coal and natural gas power generation, smashing the petroleum industry, destroying territorial integrity, and inflation everywhere is far too ambitious for somebody as addled as Biden, even if he agreed with them. Somebody (more likely a committee of somebodies) is running him. I’m sure Jill knows who, but she isn’t talking.

    In the shuffling madness
    Of the locomotive breath
    Runs the all-time loser
    Headlong to his death

Oh, he feels the piston scraping
    Steam breaking on his brow
    Old Charlie stole the handle
And the train it won’t stop
Oh no way to slow down

“his [D] party “will pay for it at the polls” if it fails in enacting Biden’s agenda.”

It will also pay at the polls if it succeeds in implementing the Biden administration agenda. It’s a destructive agenda. People will see the effects and be horrified (more horrified than they already are, I mean).

    The enemy among us says,
“If any member of Congress is not concerned that this could fall apart, they need treatment”

    Worried Americans say,
“If any member of Congress is not concerned that this could pass, they need treatment”

randian in reply to fscarn. | September 22, 2021 at 6:27 pm

Members of Congress don’t care. They can vote themselves pay increases in any amount required to compensate for inflation, and most Democrat districts aren’t competitive for Republicans, especially now that elections are fortified.

    Eff Demitia Joe.

“Biden’s domestic agenda is falling apart”

Change to “has fallen apart”

“If Biden’s agenda goes off the rails”

No “if” here. It has gone off the rails.

His agenda was never on track..

The hell it wasn’t. Destriction was the goal. They’ve been wildly succcessful.

UserP in reply to amwick. | September 22, 2021 at 4:22 pm

Well, it’s on pretty the same track as when he started. The only difference now is that it’s becoming more apparent how harmful his polices are and some people are just beginning to notice. So in the sense that he is getting minimal opposition, some have termed as “falling apart.” But the damage has been done and it will take years to recover. Even ten years of Trump would not be able to un-f@ck the mess Biden has gotten us into.

“Even ten years of Trump would not be able to un-f@ck the mess Biden has gotten us into….”

Our cities are being overrun with low-functioning, unhealthy, low IQ immigrants who breed with abandon, and will wind up on welfare rolls or in prisons.

Our nation is beyond repair. It’s over. Time to talk about the divorce.

randian in reply to UserP. | September 22, 2021 at 6:34 pm

Trump can’t do anything at this point, even if he tried (which he didn’t do much of last time). Federal agencies can ignore him and do whatever they want, no matter who he installs at the top, because he can’t fire any of the rank and file. That was the entire point of the “professional administration” the progressives suckered everybody into accepting.

Tammany Hall style nepotism was actually better, because the incoming administration could fire and replace everybody. If you wanted to keep your job you had to be responsive to the new administration, which kept agencies from pursuing their own independent goals.

Inflation, no border, high gas prices and covid tyranny isn’t good enough for these armchair Maos?

How many more weeks til he resigns “for the greater good” and Kamala steps in? I give him six weeks.

I give him till December but I expect Kamala to be forced to resign before he does. She is just as despised by the Dems as she is by the Reps. No one respects her nor likes her. Things won’t get better with her as POTUS. I believe the Deep State has taken over foreign policy in regards to moving on China but they need better on the diplomacy front. Biden is senile while Kamala is stupid and obnoxious. Kamala will be “persuaded” to resign as happened with Agnew. Schumer/McConnell will then likely submit their suggestion to Biden for approval of who should replace Kamala. Then Biden himself resigns. No 25the amendment, no impeachment and no Succession Act rotation other then the new VP stepping in to the presidency.

And with all of the leaks coming out from administration lately, I think we are being gaslighted to expect it. The Politico leak confirming the Hunter and “big guy” story? Biden being paraded in public clearly struggling to appear normal while begging out of questions by telling us he’s only doing what he was told to do? That is no accident. Everyone is ready for it. Just my opinion.

Seriously, they will do nothing until after the mid-terms. If it is a Democrat disaster, despite the cheating, then maybe some changes will be deemed necessary.

But they will not give up the congress easily. Expect more mobs in the street. Prosecutions of prominent Republicans. Lock downs and suppression of political organizing and mass gatherings of Republicans. Max effort to change the rules and cheat. It will be a rough run up to the mid-terms. Hope you are all ready.

I doubt it. He’ll be in his bunker shouting countermanding orders at his staph first.

Joe has wanted this job his whole life. They’ll have to peel his fingers off the Oval Office door jamb to get him out of there!

So, they think he, personally, has something identifiable as a “domestic agenda”? Intriguing.

Polls?

It seems that the Dominion results will be all that matter.

Who knew there were moderate Democrats in the House. They must be laying low or the squad/BLM/Antifa will cancel them. We know there are two more in the Senate.

Eight months. He was sworn in in January (and sworn at ever since), and it’s only September. Nine minus one is eight.

Though admittedly it does seem longer.

Scranton Joe proves that every silly doofus is going to step in every bit of dog doo on the street. That’s what doofuses like Joe do.

“We are only nine months into Joe Biden’s presidency and many Democrats are already worried that the wheels are coming off.”

NOW they’re worried? We had this sussed out at two months.

“If any member of Congress is not concerned that this could fall apart, they need treatment”

Only the fact that so many of them need treatment is what let it get this far in the first place.

Looks like Democrats ARE able to respond to the real world… once it’s hit them in the head enough times with a 2×4.

Sonnys Mom in reply to henrybowman. | September 23, 2021 at 9:10 am

But respond how? With campaign rhetoric or meaningful action?

henrybowman in reply to Sonnys Mom. | September 24, 2021 at 10:54 pm

Usually it’s only to cover their asses, but even that is a step up from sitting in the fire droning, “this is fine.”

Last time it happened, we got “The Democrat Party has never opposed Voter ID.”

If anyone thinks that the 2022 vote will be any different than the 2020 vote, they are in desperate need of treatment. The same foreign country(ries) that controlled the 2020 election still have all the same processes in place; the Democrats have no worries unless they are literally overwhelmed.
