Theater Department at Brown University Offering Course on ‘White Male Patriarchy’

“Unmasking the Technologies of White Supremacy”

As a discipline, the performing arts in higher education have always been particularly vulnerable to political correctness and social justice. Now wokeness is taking over.

The College Fix reports:

Brown theatre department offers course on ‘white male patriarchy’

Brown University theatre students can take classes in playwriting, acting and directing.

But they can also prepare for their Hollywood careers by learning what technologies are used by white supremacists to advance the “white male patriarchy.”

The Ivy League university class called “Unmasking the Technologies of White Supremacy” will “examine the re-emergent topics of white supremacy and fascism within the so-called post-truth political media landscape.”

Students in the Department of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies course will also look at the issues through the lens of “critical theory”

The course description further explains:

The first section will draw from black feminism and critiques of fundamental American forms of freedom built upon the immobility of “the other” in the service of white racial capital. The second section of the course will contend with the recent rise of Proud Boys, Identity Europa, and the rise of the far-right in Eastern Europe through the lens of performance studies to understand the procedures of identification and aesthetics that lead to white supremacy.

The department has committed itself to fighting “white supremacy” and “police power.”

Comments

Any white males who are considering going to Brown have been duly warned that they will be treated like crap.

I’ve seen how such an environment of groupthink, exclusion, and racist vicarious guilt can wear down the best of students. I strongly suggest that they go elsewhere.

You know, I’ve wondered a lot if the folks creating these programs have even considered what in the long game it will do for their enrollments. And enrollments are their life-blood.

“through the lens of performance studies to understand the procedures of identification and aesthetics”

Can somebody tell me what this means? It’s like they’re constructing sentences from random words.

I guess no more Shakespeare.

World-class virtue signaling from the state with the 3-5% black population.

….”contend” with the rise of Proud Boys, etc….??? What does the course really have to “contend” with? Only things I can think of are brainless, indoctrinated students and a schizophrenic, self-loathing professor abusing them with nonsense.
