CDC Mask Guidance Assessments Go Under the Microscope and are Found Devoid of Science and Reason

CDC Mask Guidance Assessments Go Under the Microscope and are Found Devoid of Science and Reason

“The CDC and its public-health peers have been disaster shows all pandemic long…”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXQ_RME5cPk

I strongly suspect the Biden administration was recently planning to open up the pandemic playbook, using the approach first taken by President Donald Trump: Role out the experts, focus on the cases, issue mandates, and insist on lockdowns.

The trouble with this game plan is that Americans now have had over 18 months of data and experiences with COVID-19, and they find the conclusions of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) senseless, baseless, and devoid of scientific rationale.

First, as I have noted in a previous post, the SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus infections will be cyclic as more variants evolve. Eventually, everyone is likely to get an infection and either evolve natural immunity (or get a vaccine and be spared the worst effects of this particular pathogen). Ultimately, the virus will probably join the rest of the strains that cause our common colds.

As we now have over 18 months of data, people are beginning to wonder about the focus on cases…rather than hospitalizations or deaths. After all, all of us will get sick with some disease at some point. Therefore, the worry should be whether there are treatments that are effective. However, it is being noticed now that neither the press nor the current administration is interested in these more important numbers.

Here is a graph showing the level of hospitalizations in this country over the course of the pandemic.

And here is a graphic view of the number of deaths:

With this in mind, people are challenging the CDC on its use of an outbreak of COVID-19 in Provincetown, Massachusetts in July to justify the new mask guidance. The agency asserts that vaccinated people will transmit the virus and spread disease, so it is primed to bring back all the rules that have already failed to eliminate the virus.

The CDC is meeting with a great deal of pushback from Americans who researched why the outbreak occurred and what it really meant about vaccinations.

To start with, gay rights activist Peter Staley described the activities at Provincetown that weekend. Let’s just note that those activities were conducive to the spread of all sorts of pathogens.

Nate Silver, an analyst who is not exactly unfriendly to big government types, reviewed data released by the CDC that led to the new mask guidance (which was based on the Provincetown event). He determined that the agency failed to account for the fact asymptomatic people were less likely to get tested and did not address the fact the cohort was substantially male. Silver notes that the CDC incorrectly drew conclusions related to the general population based on faulty data.

Finally, how truly scary are the “breakthrough cases” that led to Team Biden and the CDC to begin trial ballooning lockdowns, mask mandates, and vaccine passports? In the case of Provinceton…not terribly.

Alex Morse, town manager of Provincetown, said on Twitter that of the some 900 cases now linked to the cluster, “there have been no deaths, 7 hospitalizations, and the symptoms are largely mild.”

“Our positivity peaked at 15% on 7/15 and was only 4.8% yesterday. The outbreak is contained and Provincetown is safe,” Morse added.

Breakthrough cases elsewhere confirm that the vaccines at least are providing good protection from the worst impacts of SARS-Cov-2.

Today, the New York Post Editorial Board came to the same conclusion many Legal Insurrection readers have reached: Ignore the hysteria: It’s time to move past COVID, America.

Let’s face it: The CDC and its public-health peers have been disaster shows all pandemic long (recall the test it insisted was the only acceptable one, until it turned out to not work?), but the failing has reached the level that the only rational thing to do is to not take its hopeless advice as gospel. Be sensible, but don’t let the scaremongering stop you living your life.

The risk of death or hospitalization for anyone who’s gotten jabbed remains very, very low. Kids under 12 are also extremely safe. And, yes, even a single shot of the two-step Moderna and Pfizer jabs does a world of good.

Clearly, we have reached the point of “consensus,” and it is time to move beyond COVID.

I’ve been in and out all day running errands. So far, Best Buy employees are being made to mask up, and they have those guide bars for guiding people to the entry and back out the exit doors, No asking the public to mask up. Yet.

The WalMart in Unicoi has employees masked up, but nothing at the doors. They are not asking the customers to mask up. Yet.

I live in a sensible part of the world; no politicians making mandates. Yet.

    https://hotair.com/karen-townsend/2021/08/01/mandate-mania-vaccines-for-employees-face-masks-for-retail-customers-n405915

As for customers, Walmart is bringing back its signs at store entrances encouraging them to wear masks. Instead of store greeters at the entrance, there will be health ambassadors who will hand out masks.

we’ll now have health ambassadors that are all, oddly, named Karen.

Colonel Travis in reply to The Friendly Grizzly. | August 1, 2021 at 5:01 pm

Same. Texas said there will be no more lockdowns. I suspect businesses will put up mask signs again like they did after the mandate was over here. I refuse to comply. They can all go to hell, I’m so fed up with people scared to death.

I live in what WAS a very conservative town next to Austin amd proud of its conservative ways
Not any more, too many left mit cases that can’t afford Austin have moved here. We were at 8,000population when we built
Now ot 150,000 and close to being forever blue
I went to my Walmart and a Nazi guy tried to force a mask on me, told me the CDC said we have to.
I told him the CDC had no authorization to make laws. I thanked him, took the mask and walked away without putting it on
Unfortunately, 90% of the people had them on, though I did notice several illegal families of mothers and numerous and I mean numerous children, massless
And yes you can tell. Central Americans are short, darker than most Mexicans, and yes my husband and family are hispanic and I do know what I’m talking about
They were thrilled to be shopping with our dollars amd not a word of English to be spoken
    Happy days
Now there was probably a real source of covid right there!

Of course you can tell. I’m not Hispanic, my family is Italian, but I grew up around Hispanics and frankly when I get a tan I can pass. And one thing I learned is that a lot of Central Americans and southern Mexicans aren’t Hispanics either. They’re Indians. They speak Indian dialects; I speak better Spanish than they do.

I love pushing leftist buttons on this. They assume all conservatives are racists. Which is why we can’t call the Wuhan virus the Wuhan virus. I believe it was Joe “You can’t go into a Dunkin Donuts without hearing an Indian accent” Biden who said the danger is that most people can’t tell a Chinese person from a Korean.

I’ve heard it repeated by other leftists. “You racist whites think all Asians look alike.” I love responding, “What kind of Whites? Scandinavians? Spaniards? Italians? Or do we all look alike to you racist leftists?”

Milwaukee in reply to Arminius. | August 2, 2021 at 4:54 am

Come on man. Careful with the “Whites” thang.
“Whites” used to be WASP, which is White Anglo-Saxon Protestants. Myself, I am Swedish, Scottish, Dutch, and Scoundrel. But only some Italians and some Spanish get to be White. The swarthy ones (with totally awesome Olive and smooth skin, gorgeous!) only were allowed in the White club when the civil Rights action got into high gear and the WASP needed more allies. As for the Irish, well most are not Protestants, and in previous centuries the English, who really excel at racism, were loathe to admit the Irish were even human. See if you believe the Irish aren’t human then the grief the English have caused the Irish is no big deal. And the English have inflicted grave and evil suffering on the Irish.

Being part Scoundrel makes me, like Bogart in Casablanca a drunk, a citizen of the world.

But in race conflicts we look for allies to exploit and enemies to discourage. “People of color” doesn’t include pale, freckles, or pink from tabs. Those of African decent are only marginally allied to those of “Hispanic” descent. One will vote with the other until large enough to be their own, competing block. No love lost.

CDC actions and pronouncements have not withstood any serious inquiry or scrutiny for 16 months now. These are the same people who pooh-poohed the very likely possibility that the virus came from the lab in Wuhan and who spent an inordinate amount of time and effort trying to quash hydroxychloroquine treatments. It’s almost as if Fauci was conducting a global Tuskegee Experiment of his own. That is the only way to logically explain his actions to date.

Arminius in reply to Tom Morrow. | August 1, 2021 at 9:48 pm

The only logical way to explain Dr. Faulsie’s actions to date is he does whatever his paymasters tell him to do. If they need the wind to blow from east to west one day, he makes sure it does. If they need the wind to blow west to east the next day, it does.

And most importantly, if his Chinese Communist Party bosses tell him to jump, he jumps for all he’s worth without even asking, “How high?”

You can only jump the shark once, and the CDC has done it badly this time. The Best. Governor. Ever., Ron DeSantis, gave his opinion of the CDC’s “guidance” on Friday in Cape Coral and if you haven’t seen the video it is great. He was also on Dan Bongino’s FNC show yesterday, another one to watch.

That opinion? No masks anywhere in Florida and no masks in schools unless the parents choose to abuse their children by making them wear a mask.

Here’s a great UK study:

Saddest part of all this: in furtherance of a coup (i.e., rigging the election), the swamp has destroyed ALL credibility in the federal government and its alphabet agencies.

    They’ve essentially destroyed the Republic.

Government and the three letter agencies NEVER had any credibility among those paying attention.

Their generalized loss of “credibility” is a good thing, and maybe the only thing that will save the Republic.

OTOH, the fact that they are so deeply corrupt and powerful may well destroy us.

      henrybowman in reply to TheFineReport.com. | August 1, 2021 at 8:45 pm

I’d quibble. They haven’t destroyed the Republic, they’ve just exposed the destruction.

Henry, there’s no coming back from the damage done.

Way too many people simply don’t want to live with us, and we don’t want their intrusions and corruption coming any furether into our lives.

We can’t even trust our own political party – at all.

Fine has a point. Our children and grandchildren will never know the America we did.

There is an element that is out to destroy the country. They rely upon secrecy to undermine society. They are a fifth column and they have operated in stealth mode for over 40 years. Our political and military leaders seem naive at best – useful idiots – and collaborators at worst.

Stupid Americans slept through the revolution. Now it’s an uphill fight for freedom that we all took too much for granted.

Aren’t we using cooked numbers when we analyze deaths from CV? I trust real scientists that have NO connection to the government and are independent of government/large corporate controls. This has been an easily seen con game /psyops from the beginning if one looked at the process and not simply analyzed the fake data. The data is now backing that up. We do not know anything about any deaths. People died from complications with the flu that no longer exists. The shots prevent nothing. People better realize the shot is the bioweapon. It is hard to accept raw evil but it is here. Why analyze fake numbers from the CDC or any of their surrogates? Watch what they do. Do not listen to what they say. Do not be a mark.

randian in reply to Dave. | August 1, 2021 at 11:08 pm

What DeSantis is saying doesn’t matter, big business has signed on to the covid bandwagon. Publix and Walmart to start, I bet Home Depot follows along with restaurant chains. A lack of government mandate is irrelevant if everywhere you go demands a useless mask of you.

The one thing I haven’t seen anywhere is an article in (7th grade) English showing the difference in diameter of the virus (including spikes) versus the area of the smallest pore of one of the typical blue masks, demonstrating to even those with the minimal intelligence of a cabbage that the passage (in or out) of any COVID virus isn’t impeded in the slightest by a mask.

CDC mask guidance assessments go under microscope”

You don’t need a microscope to see they are devoid of science. They’re in the same scientific category as 58 genders.

It is hard to be sure, but from the Communists’ point of view the Great Wuflu Terror Part II does not seem to be having the same desired political effect as the original last year. I think the worsening economy, the surge in inflation and violent crime, and the chaos on the border are more pressing on voters’ minds.

After paying goldrush prices for gasoline, plywood, ammunition, meat, fresh produce, chlorine, and more; having to wait unconscionable delays to buy cars, trucks, household repair parts, and appliances; and having nearly a third of their favorite restaurants, gyms, and entertainment venues permanently closed (and another third unsustainable because they can’t hire any employees); it has hit home to people that there are not just consequences but long-term consequences to shutting down America every time some pampered dipshit on the Potomac takes a vague and fleeting notion to do so.

Arminius in reply to henrybowman. | August 1, 2021 at 10:02 pm

“…it has hit home to people that there are not just consequences but long-term consequences to shutting down America every time some pampered dipshit on the Potomac takes a vague and fleeting notion to do so…”

Hopefully it has also hit home that the consequences; the economic destruction, the mental health issues, etc., aren’t merely unforeseen side effects produced by well-meaning people who were merely acting in the interest of public health and safety.

Those consequences were the real objective of malevolent ghouls who want to ruin the people they hate.

Because no well functioning free-market society has ever turned to socialism of its own volition.

At the beginning of the pandemic, the CDC said the purpose of masks and social distancing was to “lower the curve,” to make sure hospitals didn’t get overwhelmed. They seemed to acknowledge the inevitably of everyone being exposed to the virus sooner or later.

Now, the CDC seems to be saying that masking and social distancing will prevent people from ever being exposed. I don’t think that’s the case. This virus will continue to mutate, and people will gain partial immunity, and it will become like influenza, where you get a shot each year that contains whichever strains they think will be most common.

What the CDC should be emphasizing is for everyone to get vaccinated, and after they’re fully vaccinated, they should go back to their normal life. I got vaccinated as soon as possible, and it was no big deal — A couple of days feeling lethargic after the second shot, and that’s all. End of pandemic.

Breakthrough infections are rare. The news media cover them because they are a “man bites dog” type of story: An unusual occurrence. For me, the fear of the Wuhan Flu is over. If I’m the 1 in 1,000 who get a breakthrough infection, it will be no big deal.

    gonzotx in reply to OldProf2. | August 1, 2021 at 6:14 pm

12,000 confirmed deaths in the IS say different about “no big deal”
Any other “vaccine”, which this isn’t, would have been pulled long ago

henrybowman in reply to gonzotx. | August 1, 2021 at 9:26 pm

The 1976 swine flu vaccine was used on 45 million people; it “was estimated to have caused approximately one Guillain-Barré syndrome case per 100,000 persons vaccinated, resulting in 53 deaths,” as a result of which the program was cancelled.

    Dathurtz in reply to OldProf2. | August 1, 2021 at 9:01 pm

LOL at getting a shot every year for this.

The level of knowledge about basic epidemiology, efficacy of ppe, social distancing, mask mandates, treatment alternatives ECT from here at home to that available from around the world gained by average people in the past 18 months is a tremendous good.

It doesn’t take a PhD to read reports, review studies and analyze data. Some of us can read what is and isn’t stated and draw the correct conclusions. The veil of medical information has been pierced. The people have looked at the absurd and contradictory guidelines and found them wanting.

DSHornet in reply to CommoChief. | August 1, 2021 at 6:17 pm

Indeed. The elementary schools in my “backward” Southern state had a health class in sixth grade (and maybe others – I’ve slept since then) telling us about germ theory and how to slow the spread of disease. Washing hands and filtering a cough aren’t new recommendations. Science courses in junior and senior high school reinforced the message with details.

When I want medical advice, I go to medical professionals and other knowledgable people and follow their advice. The politicians only obfuscate the message, if not obscure it altogether.
    .

Dathurtz in reply to DSHornet. | August 1, 2021 at 8:59 pm

Good luck finding a scientist these days who will tell you the truth about a topic that has been politicized.

DaveGinOly in reply to Dathurtz. | August 2, 2021 at 4:17 pm

Isn’t it curious that for an approved prescription medication, commercial announcements exhort the potential consumer to “consult your doctor and ask her if curesitall is right for you”, yet for an experimental vaccine, based on an experimental technology, it was suddenly “one size fits all” and don’t bother asking any questions? Even with the (seemingly) vast majority of medical doctors on board with these vaccines, official pronouncements avoided referring citizens to their own doctors for a recommendation based on the patient’s own, personal medical needs and situation.

Dathurtz in reply to CommoChief. | August 1, 2021 at 9:01 pm

It blew my mind how our “experts” were putting out blatantly false conclusions and even lying about data AND that the whole expert chain down to us peasants backed up the nonsense.

More infectious, less deadly a la seasonal flu. Fully vaccinated individuals are 6x (per NHS) more likely to die, carry higher viral loads, and may have forced viral mutation. They hoped for a droplet spread a la medical environment that has not materialized, and the masks have random effectiveness at best, and increase infections at worst, even when following a strict protocol. Fat is beautiful, healthy at any weight, metabolic dysfunction, correlated with age, are comorbidities past, present, and progressive and account for around 80% of cases. That said, Wuhan scientists observed viral spread up to 4 m. Viability is a fleeting thing.

Socially liberal trans/homosexual males, huh. Fecal transmission through anal intrusion and digestive tract transmission. This is the HIV/AIDS pandemic all over again. Perhaps a cover-up of the hundreds of thousands excess deaths in urbane spaces for the sake of social progress and sustaining handmade tales.

“people are beginning to wonder about the focus on cases…”

Yes and no.

I’m wondering about the curious LACK of focus on asymptomatic cases. We’re 18 months into this and there still has not been a single large-scale study on asymptomatic infection rates. It seems like this would be a critical data point to inform public policy decisions, as it could have a massive effect on the lethality rate and influence vaccination strategies.

Why don’t they care about this?

Valerie in reply to Paul. | August 1, 2021 at 7:24 pm

Why are they DIScouraging the use of viable drug treatments? I suspect the same phenomenon underlies both questions.

randian in reply to Paul. | August 1, 2021 at 11:13 pm

Asymptomatic people aren’t cases. As Fauci said at the beginning of the plandemic, before it became convenient for him to lie, asymptomatic people play no measurable role in disease spread.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | August 1, 2021 at 10:55 pm

using the approach first taken by President Donald Trump: Role out the experts, focus on the cases, issue mandates, and insist on lockdowns.

Trump did nothing of the sort. Trump NEVER issued any mandate or insisted on any lockdowns. Trump recommended some things but never abused his authority by trying to demand any of them.

Our elderly cat was sick after a 4 day road trip and we took him to the vet daily for re-hydration treatments, from Tuesday – Friday. We were maskless Tue-Thu and when we arrived for our appointment Friday, we were greeted by the same 2 gals who had helped us Tue-Thu with “Do you have masks? The owner is complying with the CDC guidelines so you need one.” My wife had an old one in her purse, I didn’t. I couldn’t resist getting a little ‘flesh’ for my trouble.

If not for my cat having circled the drain and they brought him back to us with their good care, I’d have left. In the end, they apologized. Haven’t been out since then – hoping the grocery store and our local Walmart hasn’t gone nuts again.

NC Gov. Roy Cooper (D) has announced vaccine passport requirement for state employees. Employees must prove vaccination status, and if they are not vaccinated, they will be required to wear a mask and have weekly testing.
I pray these employees will sue and win.
Rise up people!
