Poll: Optimism in America Drops Almost 20 Points in Two Months

Poll: Optimism in America Drops Almost 20 Points in Two Months

The pessimism has grown in all groups: ages, income, education, and political identification.

An ABC News/Ipsos poll found that Americans’ optimism in the country dropped by almost 20 points since May 2:

  • 45% are optimistic, 55% are pessimistic
  • In late April, 64% had optimism
  • The pessimism has grown in all groups: ages, income, education, and political identification.

The survey found 71% of Democrats have maintained optimism, but the number is lower than the 89% in late April.

Independents went down to 38% from 64%. That is a 26 point drop.

The majority of people approve of how President Joe Biden has handled COVID-19. But it’s all downhill from there, including among Democrats:

  • Overall, slightly more than a third of Americans approve of the way the president is handling crime (39%), immigration and the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border (37%), and gun violence (37%).
  • While most Democrats approve of Biden’s handling of these issues, their approval is more muted compared to COVID-19, the economy, and Afghanistan. For example, 93% of Democrats approve of Biden’s handling of the pandemic, compared to 63% who rate him positively over immigration/the border situation.
  • On these three issues, just over one in three independents approve of the job Biden is doing, while he receives positive marks from only around one in ten Republicans.

As I said, 63% of the respondents approve of Biden’s handling of the pandemic. However, that is a nine-point drop since March.

A recent Gallup poll revealed that Biden’s approval rate has dropped to 50% from 56%:

The new rating is from a July 6-21 Gallup poll, which also finds that 45% of U.S. adults disapprove of Biden’s performance and 5% do not have an opinion. It comes at a time when U.S. progress in fighting the coronavirus has stalled, with vaccination rates slowing and case levels now rising. The economic recovery continues, with unemployment declining and stock market values near record highs. But consumers are paying higher prices for gas and other goods. Biden has also struggled to deliver on his promise of greater bipartisanship, although negotiations on an infrastructure bill continue in the Senate.

Unemployment is up. Inflation is WAY up. And, anyone paying attention sees the Democrats ramming their Green New Deal through the back door. And, they fear that the USA that has the cheapest most available electricity in the World is going to start facing seeing a tripling costs like in Germany and widespread shortages like California.

The counrty is dying. I fully understand that drop in optimism.

We are in a “cold” civil war.
How long before Biden’s handlers make it hot? That is my level of disappointment.

The Dems/socialist/Marxists are trying to instigate violent confrontations before the next election by declaring that Trump supporters are ‘white supremacist’ domestic terrorists and treating them that way. They are hoping that either that will help them win the next election or enable them to do what is necessary to stay in power, whatever that may be.

They are desperate and afraid that without violence from the Right their vote fraud machine might not be good enough to overcome a big red tide. They know if they lose the House their Leftwing coup is probably dead.

So far it seems the deplorables see through their strategy. They showed their hand by trying to portray Jan 6 as something it was obviously not.

Remember when they try that to remind that that they support a pedophile that claimed an exalted cyclops of the KKK as a friend and a mentor.

I think that is the game plan. The problem the Harris/Biden admin has is that the Conservative segment of the society is inherently peaceful. Not mostly peaceful, just plain peaceful. We are supposed to believe that on Jan 6, they showed up to overthrow the government without a single lethal weapon.

However, the Three Letter Agencies are masters of false flag operations. Don’t fall for it, people.

What happens when people get desperate? That’s the only hope the left is giving the country.

Please these are with inflated pro Biden numbers

When you’ve lost the soccer moms, the real idiots

Yet, these a$$holes will continue to vote Democratic till they ripe the multiple voting ballots out of their cold dead hands

I say this because I just went to a voter registar classs, of 4 and Inwas the only one CLEARLY there to get certified to reigistar hopefully Republican leaning voters in what was just maybe 4 years ago a solid red county.

One flake had an Emily womens t-shirt on, one bad mouthed Texas amd the other loud mouth was from California and was obsessed with mail in votes. He wanted to give out mail in votes like candy, you know, like they do in Califotamd was just plain mad he couldn’t here.

But the idiots running the class gave him ballots cause, you know, the Democrats ran to DC to not change the so called China flu BS that was suppose to be temporary, cause they hadn’t voted yet.

I’ve got some MAJOR complaint to make to Governor’s office and who ever is running this dog and pony show in my county.

It has been 6 months of a shit show. Rampant inflation, unemployment, and illegals crossing the border in record numbers and we have an ice cream eating dummy that is clueless without his handlers.

Vampires sucking blood… isn’t that what HE said?

    So freaking insane

SField in reply to gonzotx. | July 26, 2021 at 9:55 am

When asked if there were people in the democrat party who want to defund the police, his response was-

‘Are there people in the Republican Party who think we’re sucking the blood out of kids?’

      Beyond freaking insane.

Unemployment is NOT declining, it’s too lucrative. Have you tried to go out to eat, no one will work those jobs.
Time to get your teenagers off their collective ass’s and get a part time job. These are decent paying jobs

Don’t forget, on top of many states STILL paying an extra 300 a week unemployment with no stipulation you need to be looking, you get $300 a kid now

Why in the world work?

Why? This is more money, our money, then they have ever made.

45% disapproval

BS, more like 65…

These numbers are insane, but then there are millions getting thousands per month for sitting on their ass. Hard to beat

I actually heard a guy call into a radio show so happy cause his 4 kids would give him 1200 a month, He though he deserved it for HAVING the kids. And when asked what he was going to do with the money, he actually said he was getting his kid karate lessons

That’s right, karate lessons.

My money paying for his kids karate lessons, I’ve never gotten over that

All with a very thick accent by the way

Biden is a score loser.

Biden hasn’t struggled to deliver on his promise of greater bipartisanship. He mouths the words and his staff tells Republicans to pound sand.

I guess the removal of Confederate statues haven’t helped eh? Shocking!

UserP in reply to MAJack. | July 26, 2021 at 9:56 am

Of course it helped: one tenth of one percent of people who drive electric cars had a tingling sensation all day.

“Optimism dropped 20 points in two months.”

It would have dropped lower than that if half of the people had an inkling of what is going on. Being spoon fed sugary sweet news from major news networks keeps it artificially high.

I live outside of an isolated small town in deep Red/Trump territory, and I see optimism on a community level, but that optimism doesn’t extend past our little island of peaceful old America normalcy.

We’re all concerned that the insanity gripping much of America could reach us at some point. We’re devoid of things like manufactured racial strife, riots, and violent crime in general. CRT is not allowed in our schools. Covid barely touched us, we have Constitutional Carry, and our local Law Enforcement are literally our friends, family, and neighbors.

Honesty and mutual respect abound, as does gun ownership. We won’t willingly allow the insanity to take over here.

What area of Texas, I unfortunately live next to Austin in what was once a solid , “rock solid” red town

SField in reply to gonzotx. | July 26, 2021 at 10:06 am

Not Texas. Without being too specific, I’ll just say there’s lots of snow, and lots of bears here.

I’ve read about Austin. Leftists take over and ruin everything.

It is the most minor of minor points, but both the ABC-Ipsos and Gallup surveys are polls of all adults. As someone with graduate degrees in both engineering and mathematics I have reason to believe the methodology these polls use is flawed.

Here is the part about the ABC-Ipsos poll that raises concerns for me:

The data were weighted to adjust for gender by age, race/ethnicity, education, Census region, metropolitan status, household income, and party identification. The demographic benchmarks came from 2019 American Community Survey (ACS) from the US Census Bureau. Party ID benchmarks are from recent ABC News/Washington Post telephone polls.

It is an article of faith among sociologists, political scientists, and journalists that census surveys undercount Democrat-leaning populations. But there is no evidence that this is so. Nevertheless polling organizations often start with this assumption, and use it to create their polling samples. The end result is a survey based upon an America that probably does not exist outside of the imaginations of the people who created the poll.

More often than not, it seems to me that instead of being an honest reflection of people’s opinions, polls are employed as manipulative tools used to steer opinions in a specific direction to shape a preferred narrative.

Just one more item on a growing laundry list of things that have been corrupted, and thus cannot be trusted.

As an Engineer, you are doubt aware of the “universal correction factor” = (correct answer)/(wrong answer). Multiply the wrong answer by the correction factor and you get the correct answer.

That’s a lot of data massaging. And with all that, they still cannot conjure up a happy ending for Joe Biden.

That’s what happens when you cheat an illegitimate, retarded, dementia-ridden, communist pedophile traitor into the White House.

I’m pessimistic about why it took that long.

All you can do is put your head down and hope that the country can power/plow through four years of rudderless direction from a senile senescent old fool. Maybe, maybe not–which is why the confidence levelis dropping.

Every single television or radio ad produced by the vile Dhimmi-crat apparatchiks should begin with a narrator stating “It’s twilight in America…

But now do the mean tweet survey. Success!

Subotai Bahadur | July 26, 2021 at 5:09 pm

Keep in mind that these polling organizations have their own allegiances too, and they do not include our country. More likely the real polling results are far worse. I know that I refuse to answer polls because I do not believe that they are either honest or not connected with the Democrat party apparat.

Subotai Bahadur

People underestimate Sleepy Joe, I think it took Jimmy Carter over 2 years to do this much damage.
