Media Pushing Panic Button Over COVID-19 “Lambda Variant”

It is time for us to build the “Great Wall of Common Sense” in response to what has likely been a pandemic caused by a Chinese-bioengineered virus.

A couple of days ago, I noted we do not need to panic over the coronavirus Delta variant the press has featured lately.

While Americans resume a more normal life in a post-COVID world, the elite media cannot seem to return to more regular news coverage. Reporters are now grabbing onto stories about the “Lambda variant.”

Scientists fear that a highly contagious new COVID-19 variant that is ravaging Peru may be resistant to vaccines.

The Lambda mutation, or C.37, appears to have emerged in Peru last August — and is now being blamed for the country having the highest pandemic death rate in the world.

The concerning strain has since spread to around 30 countries, mostly in Latin America — but also as far as the UK, which has recorded at least eight cases, according to government figures.

There are no known cases of the Lambda strain in the US, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In Peru, Lambda has accounted for 81 percent of new infections tested for variants since April, according to the World Health Organization.

Not only is the press stoking fears about the virus, but it is also implying that we will face further restrictions as we slowly return to normal.

The Lambda strain has puzzled World Health Organisation scientists after it spread to nearly 30 countries in the last four weeks. The mutation was originally discovered in Peru and is related to 81 per cent of the country’s cases since April.

Peru currently has the highest mortality rate of anywhere in the world.

It is a worrying sign for the UK which has recently relaxed Covid-19 restrictions after 37 million people received at least one dose of a vaccine.

The country had returned to normality in recent weeks with pubs flooded by revellers enjoying their country’s recent success at Euro 2020.

However, these civil liberties could change if the highly transmissible Lambda strain spreads across the community.

Here might be an excellent place to explain the difference between a strain and a variant regarding viruses. Coronaviruses, such as SARS-CoV-2, replicate through RNA duplication. Errors in the replication produce imperfect copies of the original virus.

The viruses with these mutations are called variants.

If the mutations are significant enough, changes in the physical properties can occur, changing the virus’s behavior. The copies with such effective modifications are referred to as strains of the flu.

The mRNA vaccines work because scientists design them to respond to the most significant physical properly of the coronavirus: The spiked proteins intended to stick to human respiratory system cells. Therefore, I am skeptical of the current reports, mainly because the media has been on a rampage about “dangerous variants resistant to vaccines” since the vaccines first came out.

It appears that I am not the only one who is skeptical.

Laughably, the Chinese are talking about building a “Great Wall of Immunity.”

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged the international community on Saturday to build a “Great Wall of Immunity” to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We should face the imminent challenges together,” Wang, who is also a member of the State Council, or cabinet, told the 9th World Peace Forum held at Tsinghua University in the Chinese capital.

“The most urgent priority is to expedite the construction of the ‘Great Wall of Immunity’ to fend off the virus, surpass political discrimination and carry out international anti-pandemic cooperation.”

It is time for us to build the “Great Wall of Common Sense” in response to what has likely been a pandemic caused by a Chinese-bioengineered virus.

Most of the Media are morons.

They ought to have women’s names, like hurricanes.

Tropical storms (which may become Hurricanes) alternate men’s and women’s names down the alphabet each year.

I predict this will be on the woke chopping block in a few years.

For one, it only uses the English alphabet, which is a tool of white supremacy. For two, it only uses names associated with two traditional genders, which is a tool of queerphobia.

    Even Hurricanes can be cancelled!

    Like the “Moooochelle variant”?

Coronavirus looks like a swell design for a dog toy.

THE REAL PUBLIC HEALTH PROBLEM = THE CDC WHO CRIED “WOLF”

The media is causing a public health problem. By SCREAMING everytime there is a new variant – they undermine the CDC’s message when there is a real deadly health emergency due to a Vaccine-resistant virus.

Why does the government allow MSNBC and CNN to push the disaster porn their shows are known for ? ? It may some day cause actual deaths and disability.

And what about social media ? So quick to censor legitimate inquiry into the origin of the virus – but they take no action against media that purposely infame the risk for their own commercial purposes (ratings).

This is malpractice by public health officials and by media.

Milhouse in reply to Ben Kent. | July 7, 2021 at 1:49 am

The government doesn’t “allow” them. They don’t need the government’s permission. There’s nothing the government could or should do to stop them even if it wanted to. That’s what the first amendment means.

It’s a miracle we have survived all this time with different strains of the cold and flu. Since the Wuhan has come to the fore those two have just fell off the face of the Earth. Must have cured those two.

From what I’ve been reading, unvaccinated people (whose natural auto-immune systems must be very strong if they haven’t contracted the virus yet) are a stronger deterrent to the spread of variants than vaccinated people (whose auto-immune systems have been diminished over-all by the vaccine). Turns out that 8 times as many vaccinated people have died from the WuFlu than us non-vaccinated people.

When did we lose our confidence in our auto-immune systems? And why are those of us who haven’t being castigated by the lepers?

healthguyfsu in reply to Pasadena Phil. | July 6, 2021 at 7:33 pm

Sorry, but your info is completely incorrect about death rates of vaccinated vs unvaccinated individuals.

You are right it is apparently MUCH worse:

“Don’t let the fearmongers win. New public England study of delta variant shows 44 deaths out of 53,822 (.08%) in unvaccinated group. Hmmm.”

      — Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) June 29, 2021

Meanwhile Weeping Walensky is claiming (citing “state data”) that 99.5% of Covid variant deaths have been among the unvaccinated.

So once again, we are left to believe what we want to believe. I believe that most of us who haven’t been vaccinated have robust immune systems and trust in them. I am also very reluctant to use antibiotics but it is probably too late for that. The “science” has already defeated their effectiveness due to over-prescription.

I am also among those who suspect sinister motives behind this vaccine madness. You can believe what you want to believe but it sure seems like most of the conspiracy theories we were berated for over the years not only turned out to be true, but even worse than we ever imagined. There is reason why so many African countries are rejecting the offers for free vaccines from the “developed” countries.

henrybowman in reply to Pasadena Phil. | July 7, 2021 at 10:44 pm

I am unvaccinated (for COVID, at any rate), and plan to remain that way. I now have a stronger immune system by grace of having caught and gotten over COVID… the way nature intended.

healthguyfsu in reply to Pasadena Phil. | July 6, 2021 at 7:35 pm

One more thing: “auto-immun”[ity] is where the immune system attacks your own cells. It’s not exactly something you want to have confidence in because it means you are either suffering and/or dying.

It also turns out that safes falling from tall buildings will kill you for sure, if you are not vacinated.

Having seen Revenge of the Nerds lambda is the sleeper to watch out for.

Viruses tend to mutate (via natural selection) in two directions – towards greater transmissibility and towards less lethality/milder symptoms. They tend to do this in tandem because both of these characteristics help the virus do what it needs to do – replicate. Kill your host too quickly, or take him out of circulation (quarantine), and you won’t get transmitted as much as you might be by a person with mild symptoms who continues to infect others. Becoming more easily transmitted has obvious benefits.

And herein is the danger of trying to vaccinate our way out of a pandemic. The process described above is natural. But when you start vaccinating people against a circulating virus, the virus will, via natural selection, tend to mutate in such a way so as to evade the vaccine (because selection pressure favors variants that can infect vaccinated people). Now, even without greater lethality or transmissibility, you’re back at square one.

When a population is vaccinated before a flu hits, the virus hits a brick wall. When you attempt to build a wall around the virus during a pandemic, it is still producing variants in the unvaccinated population. Scientists know this, and this may be the reason for the push to get nearly everyone vaccinated. Vaccinating during a pandemic is dangerous, something they can’t admit, and they’re racing against the virus to stop it before it produces something more deadly.

    The_Mew_Cat in reply to DaveGinOly. | July 8, 2021 at 3:24 am

You are correct. However, this particular virus spreads best several days before symptoms appear, and can be made more transmissible by increasing presymptomatic viral loads. A virus that spreads asymptomatically or presymptomatically does not have to get milder as it evolves.

The_Mew_Cat | July 8, 2021 at 3:28 am

If the Lambda variant has been around since December and isn’t in the US yet, then it isn’t transmissible enough to compete with other variants.
