Kamala Harris Becoming a Liability for Democrats in 2022

“As of right now, I think she has the potential of doing more harm than good for some of these candidates”

Democrats are beginning to worry that Vice President Kamala Harris could hurt their chances to retain power in the 2022 midterm elections.

This was entirely foreseeable. Harris was so unpopular in her party that she dropped out of the 2020 Democratic primary before anyone voted.

The Hill reports:

Harris’s bad polls trigger Democratic worries

Vice President Harris has some ground to make up in order to be perceived more favorably by the public, a complicating factor for the Biden administration as it maps out its midterm strategy.

Six months into office, polls indicate Harris is viewed less favorably than President Biden. She has also made some tactical missteps outside of the White House that Democrats say show she hasn’t quite yet found her bearings.

Vice presidents historically do not outperform the leader at the top of the ticket. But her lower ratings haven’t gone unnoticed…

“As of right now, I think she has the potential of doing more harm than good for some of these candidates,” said one Democratic strategist. “My sense is she’ll probably raise a lot of money and maybe she’ll go to some specific districts, but they’ll have to be really strategic with her.”

“She doesn’t have the standing at this moment to go to a lot of these tighter districts,” the strategist added.

Anders Hagstrom of the Daily Caller highlights a quote from a political analyst who says this puts Democrats in a no-win position. If they use Harris to campaign for the midterms, she could do damage. If they don’t, it confirms that she is politically toxic:

“No one is coming out and saying she’s doing an amazing job, because the first question would be ‘On what?’” another person, identified as a “Harris ally” told the Hill. “She’s made a bunch of mistakes and she’s made herself a story for good and bad.”

However, some disagree, arguing that Democrats would be making a mistake to shy away from Harris ahead of the midterms.

“The reason that Harris is unpopular is that they haven’t been able to make headway against Joe Biden personally, so they really have switched their messaging strategy to focus on Harris and attack him indirectly,” political analyst Rachel Bitecofer told the Hill.

“If Democrats buy into the old-school political book and make the same mistakes that they’ve made in the past and try to shelf her, hide her, run away from her, all they’re doing is reasserting the right’s negative frame against her,” she said.

This is a short-term problem. The bigger, long-term problem for Democrats is figuring out what they’re going to do with Harris if Joe Biden can’t or won’t run in 2024.

What do you mean becoming? She hasn’t changed. There have been no surprises in her behavior. What you see is what you get.

She only has to appeal to women. How hard is that.

Who knew the Dims could find someone even stupider and with less charisma than Biden for VP? They had to search far and wide for someone with these qualifications.

But they eventually found her, under Willie Brown’s desk

That was their problem. Since Dementia Joe is already bottom of the barrel, how do you find someone worse? You choose someone who has absolutely no character who can’t manage 4% support in her own party. The fact that she’s a whore … that’s just a bonus.

Don’t underestimate the left: the choice of Harris was well-calculated. I fear Pelosi has designs on the Presidency before she croaks.

They can blame Kamala, but there’s more than enough liability to go around.

If it were indeed just her, they could engineer her departure from the administration before the 2022 campaign season gets going, in hopes that gains in both houses of Congress will enable Biden to appoint a successor that can be confirmed. However, in the meantime there’d be no tie-breaking vote in the Senate.

But it’s not just her. Biden is as much a loose cannon as she is, and her absence would only focus voters’ attention even more on Joe’s cognitive issues.

The only viable option, from the electorate’s point of view, is divided government: restoring Republican majorities to block Flatline’s worst excesses.

Harris’s bad polls trigger Democratic worries

OMFG! They have only now realized that Heels Up Harris is a liability to their agenda? They should have seen that from day one seeing as how Harris couldn’t even garner 1% of the democrat primary vote. What a bunch of maroons.

No worries. Remember Slow Joe and his Bimbo in Waiting, received the most votes in history, campaigning from the basement.

The dinosaur media, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democrat party, will do everything they can to Gaslight the crap out of everyone. The get out the vote is going great, especially in the cemeteries and mausoleums.

Their problem is that it’s no longer working as the 20-point drop has shown. People don’t like the pedophile-in-chief and they’re not fond of his vice-whore either.

“Becoming”????

“The reason that Harris is unpopular is that they haven’t been able to make headway against Joe Biden personally, so they really have switched their messaging strategy to focus on Harris and attack him indirectly”

Right. that she’s a remarkably arrogant and unpleasant person, as well as being stupid and politically inept has no bearing whatever. It’s all about the evil republican messaging.

“’The reason that Harris is unpopular is that they haven’t been able to make headway against Joe Biden personally, so they really have switched their messaging strategy to focus on Harris and attack him indirectly,” political analyst Rachel Bitecofer told the Hill.'”

Wait. The MSM is the media wing of the Democrat party, plus Harris has been on magazine covers, been the subject of fawning profiles, and in the first months of this year was being presented as the face of the administration.

It isn’t right-wing messaging; it’s her, and people who didn’t know exactly who she was but voted for her and Biden anyway have been finally learning exactly whom they voted to put one heartbeat away from the presidency.

Yup. I’d correct the headline to read:
“Democrats just realizing Harris is a liability in any given year.”

She’s the Spiro Agnew of this administration. Impeachment insurance. If anyone pushes out Biden, they end up with her. Nobody on either side of the aisle wants that.

Once again, I am compelled to point out that, like Biden, a President Harris would only be a figurehead while the actual business of governing would be handled by the Party apparatchiks under the direction of the real movers and shakers — who will mostly remain behind the scenes.

The problem for the Party is that the figurehead is supposed to sell the brand, not drag it down.

henrybowman in reply to CorkyAgain. | July 30, 2021 at 11:15 pm

The other problem is that the figurehead needs to be compliant and do what she is told instead of striking out on her own disastrous initiatives. Biden fits perfectly, Kamala doesn’t.

Spiro Agnew was bad news, but Harris is to Agnew what Alexandra Cortez is to Pelosi.

Forget the Party…. the country is more than at risk. Even successfully stealing elections has consequences.

Before Harris dropped out she was a top tier candidate.

She said so herself on national TV and the media didn’t report otherwise so it has to be true, right?

Also, it was on the internet.

“The reason that Harris is unpopular is that they haven’t been able to make headway against Joe Biden personally, so they really have switched their messaging strategy to focus on Harris and attack him indirectly,” political analyst Rachel Bitecofer told the Hill.

Er….the approval ratings for Biden* have been dropping despite the tongue bath the media gives him daily. Also, Bitecofer forgets that Harris did not exactly thrill her Party’s base when she ran for President and dropped out.

The problem for Bitecofer is the fact that Harris is who she is: the ex-girlfriend of one of California’s shadiest politicians who used her skin color and political connections to get where she is.

I’m not sure who the dems can trot out there to campaign in the highly contested seats. Biden doesn’t have the stamina, Harris is unlikeable, don’t see any high profile cabinet members. Schumer, no, Sanders, no, Durbin, no.
They may have to turn to celebrities but I find few moderate dems in that camp.
The ones on the far left will not appeal to independent voters or moderate dems in the contested races.
Given the repubs recent history they will find a way to screw up and lose many races they should have no problem flipping.

The_Mew_Cat | July 31, 2021 at 1:00 am

Kamalasutra will be president before the 2024 election, and probably before the Midterms even. Count on it. Dementia Joe will either stroke out or die of the Eta Kappa Tau Omega variant.

Kamala Harris is about as lovable as a tapeworm.

The problem is what if Joe Biden decides he wants to run in 2024? I think the 49% approval rate is probably inflated but Obama’s approval rate was probably around where Joe Biden actually is and he went on to win re-election.

Nora in NC in reply to Danny. | July 31, 2021 at 7:56 am

In spite of being a poor impromptu speaker, Obama was physically fit, mentally sharp and relatively young in 2012. I doubt Joe will be able to go from bed to bathroom without assistance two-and=a-half years from now.

Yes, Obama was all those things. Though he wore a titanic media diaper for 8 years, which was dutifully changed when he regularly pooped on himself.

Another ‘obama’ act won’t go over anymore.

So, the Democrats are feeling buyer’s remorse? Another example of the old saying, “Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it.”

Doesn’t matter. The Dems will not cheat less because she is a liability. Actually they will probably cheat more to make up for it!

“The bigger, long-term problem for Democrats is figuring out what they’re going to do with Harris if Joe Biden can’t or won’t run in 2024.”

Exactly. The left has made everything about race and sex. If they don’t run her, the right will beat them over the head with claims they are racist and sexist. She can’t win, and they can’t run anyone else without being called out as racists and sexists.
