FBI Seizes “Fully Constructed” Lego Model of U.S. Capitol at Home of Alleged January 6th Rioter

The very serious media reports: “It’s unclear why Morss had the Lego set.”

The FBI has reportedly found a “fully constructed” Lego brand toy model of the U.S. Capitol in the home of one of the alleged January 6th rioters. The media is treating this story as very, very serious.

We live in such dumb times.

Jordan Williams reports at The Hill:

FBI seized ‘fully constructed’ US Capitol Lego set from home of alleged rioter

The FBI seized a “fully constructed” Lego set of the U.S. Capitol from the home of an alleged insurrectionist.

Prosecutors detailed the finding in a court document for Robert Morss, who was arrested on June 11 at his home in Glenshaw, Pa.

The government argued that Morss should be detained from court pending trial.

According to the court filing dated July 2, law enforcement recovered clothing and other items from Morss’s home that match what he carried on Jan. 6. Among the items were a “’Don’t Tread on Me’ flag, a neck gaiter, a military utility bag, a black tourniquet, and military fatigues.”

In addition, “law enforcement also recovered a fully constructed U.S. Capitol Lego set,” prosecutors wrote.

It’s unclear why Morss had the Lego set.

Jamie Ross of the Daily Beast calls it an “unusual piece of evidence.” That’s one way of putting it:

Riot Leader Had ‘Fully Constructed U.S. Capitol Lego Set’ at Home, FBI Says

Federal investigators seized an unusual piece of evidence from a Pennsylvania man indicted last month for his role in the Capitol riot—a Lego replica of the building he allegedly stormed. Robert Morss, 27, is accused of leading fellow rioters in what prosecutors say was “one of the most intense and prolonged clashes” with officers on Jan. 6.

This is not the Babylon Bee or The Onion, this is real.

American citizens have been held in solitary confinement without bail or trial for months, and this is what we’re talking about. It’s like we’re living in an episode of the Twilight Zone.

The issue is not that they’re doing shit like this.

The issue is that they’re so proud that they did it, that they PUBLICLY ANNOUNCE it, and then are shocked when people rightly point out how unbelievably stupid announcements like this make them look.

Totally even handed.

Feds have been doing this with all the rioters in Portland and Seattle too. However, none of those sons of bitches were so brazen at to have dared go so far as buying legos. What a monster!!! I hear the SEALS used the Hogwarts lego set in planning the Bin Laden raid.

More than 200 years after great men rebelled against taxation without representation (not to mentioning quartering of troops) we now live in a country where toy models are treated as illegal.

Wait until they find unassembled Lego kits in possession on parents’ property and arrest them for “intent” to assemble a model of Congress with further intent to blow up the US capital. Thought crimes are here.

The Friendly Grizzly | July 8, 2021 at 1:20 pm

They’ve been a joke since J. Edgar “there is no such thing as organized crime” Hoover.

Seriously: what have they ever accomplished that has beneftted the nation?

Everyone knows that “fully constructed” Lego models are the gateway drug for terrorists who plan to destroy the government. That’s why I have always stayed away from Lego hobbyist. Too scary.

If you have read Vince Flynn, you would see the similarity of this lego model with what the author speaks about in his books. These models, if assembled correctly, obviously detail all hidden access points, tunnels and rooms throughout the Capital building. That is why the confiscation of this model was such a coup for the fibbers, now they have him dead to rights. /sarc

The deluxe set comes with the little rail car that takes the crooks from their office building to the floor of congress. The super deluxe model includes the famouse bean soup recipe.

SField in reply to mrtomsr. | July 8, 2021 at 2:33 pm

I know of, but I’ve never read the late Vince Flynn. I assume you’re talking about scale accuracy of mockup miniatures. I’ve done work building proper scale recognition models, setting up sand tables, and other defense related scale model building. I also happen to love LEGO sets.

Even the more “scale like” sets like the LEGO Architecture series are still just rough representations of the real building that are made within the set dimensions of the parts, or “elements” of the LEGO ABS Plastic snap-together parts system.

LEGO sets are great learning tools, but by their own design constraints, they can never be true scale models. You absolutely could not build an accurate 1/48 or 1/35 model of say, the Bin Laden compound that could be of any use in planning an assault.

Presenting this LEGO set as proof of a detailed plan of an assault, is laughable.

Barry in reply to SField. | July 8, 2021 at 3:29 pm

        “…is laughable.”

You think? And just remember the government actually believes they can pass this off as proof of

        Something.

Oh, it’s proof of something. Just not what the FBI was thinking.

“That man over there looks guilty!”

“Um, sir. You’re pointing at the mirror again.”

Don’t get me started on Lincoln Logs–even more dangerous!

Two of them arrested for child pornography and worse last month. Dangerous corruptocrats.

I collect the more rare LEGO sets, mostly the more complex working “Technic” kits. But I do have in my possession the Death Star model mentioned in the article.

Since I haven’t built it yet, does that mean that technically I don’t possess a planet-killing WMD? I also have a built First Order Stormtrooper. Maybe that will buy me some goodwill with the doorknockers, like having the proper portraits on the wall back in the 30’s.

Lego set 21030 – United States Capitol Building: Width 17.5″ height 6.5″… I sure hope the FBI agents didn’t hurt their spineless backs lifting that incriminating evidence out… I could never be on a jury that had that evidence provided to indicate intent, I’d laugh so hard the moment the prosecutor advanced that theory that it’d probably be declared a mistrial.

UserP in reply to hrlsswndr. | July 8, 2021 at 3:02 pm

You would laugh at the evidence you say. Yeah, but suddenly, with a somemn tone, the prosecutor adds, “It was FULLY assembled.” And a hush falls over the courtroom. The ladies on the jury cover their mouth with their hands and grown men clasp at their chest and the prosecutor says, “I rest my case.”

Fully-constructed semi-automatic assault Lego brand toy model of the U.S. Capitol.

You should see the full-auto bolt-action belt-fed single shot target version.

    Scary…

JohnC in reply to SField. | July 8, 2021 at 2:08 pm

      Dude…..

      Wicked awesome!

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to SField. | July 8, 2021 at 2:16 pm

The one with the magazine clip cylinders?

LOL! It actually comes from an old gunsmith school missive. You had to come up with a new innovative concept at one point, kinda like a term paper.

We were all talking about forcing cone angles and such, and this one fellow says screw it, I’m proposing a belt fed single shot full auto Mauser 98 bolt action.

        Gunsmith humor, who knew?

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to SField. | July 8, 2021 at 8:09 pm

          What about flash suppressors?

          Is a fully-buttoned raincoat a flash suppressor?

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to SField. | July 9, 2021 at 7:52 am

How about an ambidextrous ejector? It cuts the shell casing in half and sends the pieces out both sides?

MattMusson in reply to The Friendly Grizzly. | July 9, 2021 at 7:04 am

And if you put three rubber bands around the Capital Dome and it qualifies as a Bump Stock?

SField in reply to MattMusson. | July 10, 2021 at 3:23 pm

The Friendly Grizzly- Love it. An ambi ejector means we could offer to machine a second ejection port. I see income potential…

Next, they’ll find – water pistols..

Obama and his ilk are runninh our government – and destroying our precious nation.

It’s like we’re living in an episode of the Twilight Zone.
Any writer proposing such a bizarre and stupid episode would have been laughed off the set.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to GWB. | July 9, 2021 at 7:54 am

Then, if I were laughed off the set, I’d rework it into a Naked Gun sequel script.

They were hoping to find a Lego set of the Kremlin. That would have proved that Donald Trump worked for Russia.

Yes, but the Feds found enough extra Legos that COULD be assembled into a model of the Kremlin. Call them “ghost Legos”.

Obviously the accused PLANNED to build a model of the Kremlin!

UserP in reply to lhw. | July 8, 2021 at 3:32 pm

The FBI found a $50,000 peice of artwork that purports to be a picture of Donald Trump in the Kremlin. They thought at first they had found a smoking gun, but it turned out to be something Hunter Biden painted while smoking dope.

Damn it, I’ve got a gallon of gasoline in the garage for the lawnmower. I expect SWAT any minute backed up by The NG

Amid all the snark and laughter is this sobering reality: the genocidal maniacs who thinks Lego kits are some sort of illegal weapon now have the power of life and death over us.

This is the sort of incident that a real opposition party could use to pound the deranged ruling junta with. But the Franz von Papen Republicans are too vested in the “insurrection” lie to admit the truth now.

You are all having entirely too much fun with this subject. You are to report to the Dean of Humor Elimination immediately

Lego pieces are not made in America, the CIA must get involved and look into the foreign influences that want to overtake this country.

Not my Country anymore…

Univ of Saigon 68 | July 8, 2021 at 3:44 pm

Mr. Morss was charged with scattering Lego blocks in the path of Capitol Police in an attempt to cripple them.

CommoChief in reply to Univ of Saigon 68. | July 8, 2021 at 7:26 pm

Yeah it’s the Legos that are not assembled which represent the true threat.

CorkyAgain in reply to CommoChief. | July 8, 2021 at 8:52 pm

Seriously. Ever come downstairs barefoot for a midnight snack and stepped on a bunch of Legos that your child left lying around?

If those had been scattered around the Capitol, Pelosi might have slipped on her way to the liquor cabinet and lost her dentures!

healthguyfsu | July 8, 2021 at 3:56 pm

Definitely a WMD if you’ve ever stepped on one.

Seriously??? The lego model is only scale accurate to the facade of the buiding not even the interior or the surrounding structures and exterior access points. Is this really going to be pawned off as some kind of plotting device?

The real crime is that lego wants $270 on amazon for this thing (I was about to go buy one just for fun).

So having the Lego Space Shuttle makes me an astronaut, right?

The existence of the Lego set at all is a clear act of war by Denmark against the United States, and yet Biden does NOTHING.

It is past time for common sense Lego reform.

LEGO humor is awesome. think of the crime or punishment if the domestic terrorist planned to disassemble the LEGO Capital. that would be a felony?

    thetaqjr in reply to r2468. | July 8, 2021 at 7:17 pm

That point is addressed in Article XXX.v of our Plastic Constitution, ANY INDIVIDUAL FREEDOMS MAY BE MOLDED TO FIT THE STATE’S POWER OF THE MOMENT.

“So what are ya in for?”
“I built a lego model of the capitol building.”
And they all moved away from me
on the group w bench.

I’d say “Send in the clowns”, but they’re obviously already here.

The Friendly Grizzly | July 8, 2021 at 6:10 pm

Lego just announced a Food Series. They will start with breakfast; the first kit is “Lego: My Eggo”.

Subotai Bahadur | July 8, 2021 at 6:56 pm

My late adopted sister’s husband has the Lego Death Star and several other Star Wars Legos, assembled and on display. Does that make him Darth-freaking-Vader?

Subotai Bahadur

The FBI has jumped the shark. Again.

Does anyone other than Dems, RINOs, and NeverTrumpers have any respect at all left for the FBI?

High on the ‘To Do’ list of the next non-RINO GOP POTUS admin, if there ever is one again, should be repealing the Patriot Act and breaking up the FBI. And the NSA. And the CIA. Clearly the external threats to the US have significantly diminished considering these organizations have so much time, money, and personnel to spare and spend spying on American citizens and on conducting partisan political domestic witch hunts.

There’s a tv show called Lego Masters. hopefully the producers don’t make that one of the contests, they might have to arrest a whole bunch of people

On a VERY SERIOUS note, EVERYTHING that the leftists are doing now should be considered “setting PRECEDENTS” for the time WE AMERICANS are back in control of Our Nation! If the FBI considers legos as evidence then anyone buying the pedo-legos should be REGISTERED so later their purchase can be used as evidence! The ONLY CRIME about the entire “lego” thing is the $270 price tag!!

In the immortal words of Charlie Brown, “Good Grief!”

Had I the inclination, money, and time to be a major Lego nerd, a model of the Capitol might just be the sort of project I’d try my hand at. As it is, my handling of lego is limited to a few simple things when with the grandkids.

Does everyone here realize how hard it is to put togther a Lego set that looks like the Capital building? Is Lego going to offer an endorsement deal to the guy who did it????

Ohio Historian | July 10, 2021 at 9:11 am

I guess that it was complete down to Pelosi’s table lectern, because that seems to be the big issue in the whole Jan 6 thing.

Let’s prosecute this guy to the fullest extent of the law because he has a Lego set. Yep, that is leftism at work.

Apparently that Lego set is much, much more interesting than Hunter’s laptop to the fumbling, bumbling idiots.
