Big Tech To Expand Joint Database On Domestic Groups, Focused On “Far-Right” Extremists

The Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism usually monitors groups on a special U.N. list. Now it wants to target militia and supposed far-right groups.

Who did not see this coming? If you say you did not then you need to take off your rose-colored glasses.

A counterterrorism organization put together by Big Tech, including Facebook and Microsoft, decided to expand the types of extremist content they plan to target.

They want “to crack down on material from white supremacists and far-right militias.”

From Reuters:

Until now, the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism’s (GIFCT) database has focused on videos and images from terrorist groups on a United Nations list and so has largely consisted of content from Islamist extremist organizations such as Islamic State, al Qaeda and the Taliban.

Over the next few months, the group will add attacker manifestos — often shared by sympathizers after white supremacist violence — and other publications and links flagged by U.N. initiative Tech Against Terrorism. It will use lists from intelligence-sharing group Five Eyes, adding URLs and PDFs from more groups, including the Proud Boys, the Three Percenters and neo-Nazis.

The firms, which include Twitter and Alphabet Inc’s YouTube, share “hashes,” unique numerical representations of original pieces of content that have been removed from their services. Other platforms use these to identify the same content on their own sites in order to review or remove it.

While the project helps combat extremist content on mainstream platforms, groups can still post violent images and rhetoric on many other sites and parts of the internet.

Big Tech formed GIFCT in 2017 after terrorist attacks in Paris and Brussels. The U.S. and European governments pushed the Big Tech companies to form some kind of database to police extremist behavior online.

“Anyone looking at the terrorism or extremism landscape has to appreciate that there are other parts…that are demanding attention right now,” explained Executive Director Nicholas Rasmussen.

Reddit, Snapchat, Instagram, and LinkedIn are some of the fourteen companies that can access GIFCT’s database.

The companies have access to “digital fingerprints of videos and images related to groups on the U.N. Security Council’s consolidated sanctions lists and a few specific live-streamed attacks.”

And the chickens have come home to roost.

Formed Democrat United States Senator assaulted and robbed in broad daylight.

    That brightens my day.

Is this supposed to inspire Democrats to make inner cities beautiful and safe? The left doesn’t care about the individual. Nothing will change. There is no roosting. Only perpetual casualties.

Some good news in an otherwise dark day.

Here are many PayPal alternatives. Use them:

Unfortunately, the vast majority are still run by Commies. Heck, it says Google Pay as #1 and Paypal is owned by Google, if I recall. And Venmo is part of Paypal. Pretty useless list put together by those folks.

Recently, Instapundit banned all people that pointed out that Google and Elon Musk were partnering to launch a huge internet service, which would probably ban all conservatives and take control of web hosting.
Lots of people were starting to point this out in their comment sections. and Musk began to be criticized. Over the weekend, it appears their was a purge and no one who criticized google and Musk was allowed to post.
I don’t know if Google is paying them off, or if Musk is paying them off, but for a conservative web site, something really weird is going on over there.

PayPal is owned by a Chinese group, and it’s not Google. I looked it up. I

PayPal has changed hands as often as a bottle of Jack at a frat party.

“He also saw a skull floating on the water. He said to it: Because you drowned others, you were drowned. And eventually those who drowned you will drown.”

It’s a terrible crime, but no sympathy for the victim.

It wasn’t robbery – it was reparations!

I have deleted my FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter, & YouTube accounts, use proton mail, DuckDuck Go, and have deleted alot of tracking stuff from my phone & computer. I do have a MeWe account (FaceBook alternative)…I hear lots of conservatives complain about Big Tech, but aren’t willing to delete their accounts…I just don’t get it…

The real extremists create enemy lists

I bet that they are being handsomely rewarded.

Oh joy, now they admit very publicly what most people refused to acknowledge. It isn’t as if this sort of thing hasn’t been occurring for nearly two decades but now some portion of these activities has been admitted.

All in the name of security. Franklin had sage advice about the folly of trading liberty for security. Perhaps those who were blind, sometimes willingly, will now see?

      Hornet,

Oh I don’t know about that. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

The elites pushing and showing this surveillance regime on normal people will eventually result in normal people pushing and shoving the elites. Since normal people don’t control elite dominated institutions, like courts, they will use other means.

Unless the elites and credentialed come to their senses and stop before they push too far and their house of cards is tumbled.

The true problem with authoritarians is that they put too much faith in their invincibility. Someone should remind them of the example of Charles I of England before things get too out of hand.

Manufactured for the purpose of disarming us.
I think these people know none of this will end peacefully. I sure as Hell don’t intend to go peacefully.

What extremists? What Far Right?

Making stuff up as they go along.

Why oh why does anyone use their services anymore

Why

It tells you something when an organisation has to focus INTENSELY on right wing extremism to actually find something they can call extremism…while all you have to do to identify left wing extremism is to just open your eyes.

Looking under rocks for boogey men while BLM and AntiFa riots and rage down the street in front of them.
And we sit here, watching our freedoms vanish because so many on our side are deathly afraid of using the threat of the 2A to keep a tyrannical government at bay.
Pearl-clutching and voting doesn’t get anything accomplished. Keep fiddling, Nero.

Remember, WE are the virus and they will soon have extinguished any resistance to government-mandated jabs for any reason. Legalized post-natal abortion to eradicate 74 million domestic terrorists? It’s NOT about the WuFlu. That is only the first battle in a horrible war we cannot afford to lose.

“The Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism’s (GIFCT) database” sounds just like another vigilante database.
