Sheldon Whitehouse Was Too Busy ‘Ralphing’ and ‘Boofing’ To Notice His Beach Club Was All White

Sheldon Whitehouse Was Too Busy ‘Ralphing’ and ‘Boofing’ To Notice His Beach Club Was All White

Is it fair? An all-white club is not the same as a whites-only club. But the blowtorch of the Senate doesn’t deserve nuance. Whatever it is, go ahead and mock him for this.

Why have so many people been sending me the link to the story at GoLocalProv about Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse belonging to an all-white beach club?

We’ve covered his foul antics since 2009, when he compared Republicans opposing Obamacare to Nazis.

… Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.) had just delivered an overwrought jeremiad comparing the Republicans to Nazis on Kristallnacht, lynch mobs of the South, and bloodthirsty crowds of the French Revolution.

“Too many colleagues are embarked on a desperate, no-holds-barred mission of propaganda, obstruction and fear,” he said. “History cautions us of the excesses to which these malignant, vindictive passions can ultimately lead. Tumbrils have rolled through taunting crowds. Broken glass has sparkled in darkened streets. Strange fruit has hung from southern trees.” Assuming the role of Old Testament prophet, Whitehouse promised a “day of judgment” and a “day of reckoning” for Republicans.

Don’t even get me started about this guy. In 2010, I noted:

Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) is one of the most polarizing Senators. His favorite form of argument is reduced to the following:

“You are bad, we are good.”

If you were from Rhode Island, as I am, you would understand that this has been Whitehouse’s political character long before he became a Senator. He is arrogant and demeaning towards those who oppose him politically, and reduces policy disputes to moral battles.

We have mocked ‘he who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth’ for years.

Whitehouse is the great-great-grandson of the West Coast railroad baron Charles Crocker, and with an estimated net worth of more than $6 million, he is reportedly the Ocean State’s wealthiest politician…. Whitehouse came from a socially and politically connected family — his father dated Jacqueline Bouvier before she married JFK and was known to enjoy fox hunting — and when he returned stateside, he followed a classic blue-blood educational track: prep school at St. Paul’s in New Hampshire; college at Yale; law school at the University of Virginia.

We even wrote about his ‘white as Carribean beach sand’ beach club before, in 2018.

What is it about Sheldon Whitehouse? He’s A Conspiracy Nutter, for starters.

We have derided ‘he who is the least self-aware person on earth’ for as long as I can remember.

He actually thought he was scoring points on Brett Kavanaugh by grilling Kavanaugh on high school yearbook entries about “ralphing” and “boofing”. Everyone was laughing at him, and he thought they were laughing with him.

He’s also a bully who threatened the Supreme Court, earning a rebuke not only from all corners of the legal community, but also from Justice Samuel Alito.

Is it fair? An all-white club is not the same as a whites-only club. But the blowtorch of the Senate doesn’t deserve nuance.

Whatever it is, go ahead and mock him for this.

Either way his club and it’s membership clearly isn’t demonstrating a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Where is their outreach and recruitment program? (sarcasm)

Why should they have to? It’s their club. I know you’re being sarcastic but the question remains.

I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the idea that a private club on private land should be compelled to accept, or recruit, people it doesn’t want.

In the days of restrictions, Jews built their own clubs and resorts. Why can’t others?

Well to his credit they do have a black cook.

      Grizzly,

Its a private organisation. They can certainly stand pat and exercise their rights to freedom of association. No problem. Totally within the constitution.

Everyone else can draw their own conclusions and express their opinions about the club and it’s membership.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to CommoChief. | June 22, 2021 at 8:44 am

And, my opinion would be: good for the for sticking to their guns. I never understood why so many people want to get into places or become involved in organizations where they are not welcome.

And that opinion would just fine.

          As to Sen Whitehouse and other d/progressive who constantly project their own prejudice;

I would love to see the HoR and Senate adopt rules of procedure which prohibit the introduction of legislation or amendments to legislation which seeks to limit conduct they themselves engage in.

Call it the anti hypocrisy rule.

So if you send your kid to a private school you wouldn’t be able to introduce legislation impacting public schools. They could still vote up or down on passage but couldn’t introduce or cosponsor or speak about on the floor or vote in committee or on procedural votes to advance the legislation.

Only final passage votes allowed. Since all the rest is fluff and governed by the rules each chamber sets it would likely pass constitutional scrutiny.

But everyone else gets a pass until they do, which will be never. Hang this on the lefties at every turn. The minute they bring up “systemic racism” or “equity” or whatever, refuse even to discuss it until Sheldon Whitehouse causes this to be “addressed”, and similar cases too.

They can stuff their systemic racism where the sun doesn’t shine, until then. I will not discuss it but turn around and blame them every time.

He should be compelled to live by his own standards, or repudiate them. In short, “walk the walk”.

puhiawa in reply to CommoChief. | June 21, 2021 at 11:16 pm

How is it that he finds dining or swimming with a black family of his same stature and class so offensive.
He says club is working on it…the same answer he gave a decade ago….the “working” person is his wife.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to puhiawa. | June 22, 2021 at 8:44 am

“ How is it that he finds dining or swimming with a black family of his same stature and class so offensive.”

      Where does he say that?

Andy in reply to puhiawa. | June 22, 2021 at 9:28 am

Maybe a black family of his wealth and actual stature find dining and swimming with him to be offensive. I know I would.

Brave Sir Robbin | June 21, 2021 at 10:38 pm

We should demand the immediate resignation of this evil white supremacist racist. Congress should vote to unseat him. He should provide all his wealth to black people for atonement of his evil and racist ways. If he refuse to donate it voluntarily, a law should be passed and it taken from him.

He is so proud of his evil white privilege, he even added White to the beginning of his name. We should, therefore, also demand he change his name simply to Sheldon House. Then again, English is also a white language employed by white supremacists to perpetuate white supremacy, Therefore, he should change his name to Mtu mwovu mdogo anayeishi katika nyumba ya kioowhich, which according to my racist Goggle Translator, means, more or less means Stupid Little Man Who Lives in a Glass House, but this would be cultural appropriation, so not allowed, so there really is no solution to white supremacy, really, unless one considers a final solution, if you catch my drift.

His wife owns 33% of that club.

    p in reply to lhw. | June 22, 2021 at 8:06 am

And a bunch of those ownership shares are his; he transferred them over to her.

The membership in this club was brought up when he first ran for the Senate in 2006 and he hemmed and hawed about giving up his membership. Instead, he gave his ownership shares to his wife, whose family has also been members of the place for decades, so I guess he can say he’s a member without being a “member”, if you get what I mean.

Now now it’s just a beach club. They just get together on the weekend and enjoy a nice Klan Bake.

This fatuous fraud will die without punishment for his multiple transgressions and hypocrisy. And it is a shame.
Trump, eg, desegregated the golf clubs and courses he bought that had such rules. It got him nothing .
This smug jerk just goes on.

Diversity [dogma] (i.e. color judgment), Inequity, under a politically congruent framework, and rainbow banner of inclusive Exclusion. Some, Select [Black] Lives Matter. He practices what he brays.

The conservative alternative is: Pro-Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. Diversity of individuals, minority of one. Baby Lives Matter

The NAZIs brayed Jew privilege. The neo-NAZIs bray White privilege.

How did the media get the wheel? Were we out there changing a tire?

Be honest now, who doesn’t want to see that Presidential ticket?

Danang Dick Blumenthal and Sheldon Whites Only

henrybowman | June 22, 2021 at 1:59 am

The man’s a railroad heir, he’s been a US senator for 14 years, and he’s still worth only $6-10 million?

Geez, no wonder he’s a perpetually sourpuss!

Rhody, shmoady… senators from Dogpatch have bigger portfolios than that.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to henrybowman. | June 22, 2021 at 8:49 am

Maybe, just MAYBE, he’s only worth that much because he hasn’t been bought. He’s an awful person, yes. But, too many other politicians arrive in Congress (either house) as hundred-thousand-aires, or one or two million, and retire with ten or more times millions.

Both Biden and Obama Biden are in the those rags to riches political club, Somehow they have tens of millions now – after a career of public service. Obama made $ on his books – but I do nto recall any Biden book being a best seller. Even Hunter’s book was a bust.

You’re really going to bat for him in this thread, o bearded one. I don’t see what’s worth defending. In what way does his supposed un-bought-ness make his votes or other actions better? He just seems like one of the worst.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to artichoke. | June 22, 2021 at 6:29 pm

I didn’t say they did make them better. He can still be a lout yet nor for sale.

I also defend his membership in his club as I would anyone else.

What if a club is all white because no minority wants in it? It doesn’t necessarily make them discriminatory. Most hockey teams for instance.

    r2468 in reply to geronl. | June 22, 2021 at 5:13 am

Good point. They would have to kiss his a$$ to join.

artichoke in reply to geronl. | June 22, 2021 at 6:17 pm

Cancel him anyway. He doesn’t get the benefit of all these doubts people are bringing up. It’s obviously structural racism and white privilege on steroids, and in his case it’s actually true. If we’re blaming for those things, blame him and NOT us. Let him pay reparations individually to those he has harmed with his advantages. Until then everything from his mouth is like diarrhea.

Don’t go soft on him. He hasn’t gone soft on white people who have had none of his advantages and privileges, essentially blaming others for what are really his own advantages. He is the scum of the earth — prove me wrong.

Sheldon is also big on “dark money” in politics; of course, it’s only Republicans who are up to their eyeballs in it.

You want us to mock Sheldon Whitehood?

Any truth to the rumor he refers to it as Klantasia?

The Friendly Grizzly | June 22, 2021 at 8:55 am

Many of you are using Klan references here. Why? Because he’s a member of a club that has an all-white membership? That makes as much sense as calling you a Christian-hater because you aren’t out actively recruiting Christians to join you at schul Friday night.

Let’s give that Klan nonsense a rest. It’s not called for.

Regarding this club hoo-hah, I can only find fault with the man for his cowardice, hemming and hawing about it rather than manning up and saying, “I’ll be a member of any organization I jolly well please. DEAL WITH IT!”

Exactly. Stretching things to bring the Klan into this accomplishes little except to stray from topic. Some times that’s fun, most times it just complicates the discussion.

You’re one of my faves, Grizzly.
    .

Somebody alert the SJWs. Where is BLM ? Where is Antifa ?
> time to riot, burn it all down.

I’m sure NY Times and WaPo will have a team of investigative reporters on this story.

Shocking racism right under their nose.

I hate to state the obvious, but couldn’t this so-called club merely gift, in the spirt of reparations, a few dozen memberships to further its diversity?

DSHornet in reply to Plato. | June 22, 2021 at 9:44 am

Because they want to keep the camel’s nose out of the tent. And do what you want with that metaphor.
    .

Dude’s been in the Senate since 2006, and his net worth is only $6-million?

So What if Senator Sheldon Whitehouse belongs to the last KKK beach club on the East coast.

Milhouse in reply to Neo. | June 23, 2021 at 1:01 am

Nah, Prof J already went looking years ago for the alleged Klan presence in RI, and couldn’t find it.

Sheldon Whitehouse – Crazier than a loon
Maise Hirono – crazier than a loon
Both insane, both Democrats, both Senators
