Cuomo Mansplains Harassment: It’s ‘Not Making Someone Feel Uncomfortable’

Cuomo to female reporter: “Harassment is not making someone feel uncomfortable. That is not harassment…That’s you feeling uncomfortable.”

The Democrats gave us a lot of soundbites on Thursday! First, we had Jen Psaki gushing over critical race theory.

Now let me show you Gov. Andrew Cuomo mansplain the definition of harassment to us ladies.

How many women have accused Cuomo of sexual harassment? I lost count.

City & State reporter Rebecca Lewis asked Cuomo, “Do you acknowledge that your intentions, according to the law, don’t matter in sexual harassment?”

Lewis referred to the sexual harassment legislation Cuomo signed in 2019. It states: “Lowers the high bar set for employees to hold employers accountable for sexual harassment by amending under the New York Human Rights Law to make clear that conduct need not be ‘severe or pervasive’ to constitute actionable conduct.”

In other words, if the woman feels harassed, then she was harassed. Intention does not matter. The definition includes “conduct that rises above ‘petty slights or trivial inconveniences.'”

But we all know Cuomo is above the law and everyone else. Nothing applies to him:

CUOMO: “I never said anything that I believed was inappropriate. I never meant to make you feel that way. You may hear it that way, you may interpret it that way. And I respect that, and I apologize to you if I said something you think is offensive.”

REPORTER: “The harasser’s intention doesn’t matter. You can apologize if you make someone feel uncomfortable. I’m just wondering — do you acknowledge that, according to the law, that doesn’t matter and would still be considered —”

CUOMO: “Harassment is not making someone feel uncomfortable. That is not harassment. If I just made you feel uncomfortable, that is not harassment. That’s you feeling uncomfortable.”

What a way to victim-blame, dude.

The Sexual Harassment Working Group, which consists of former New York state legislators, lashed out at Cuomo.

“We are not going away and Cuomo will not silence victims.”

maybe not his harassment victims.

but he has already silenced thousands of elderly COVID victims. THAT scandal has been eclipsed by this one.

He’s not completely wrong….no one’s feelings in a vacuum (the accused or the accuser) should be the objective definition of harassment or non-harassment. That’s the whole problem at the root of all of these social revolutions….that feelings are all that matter, particularly that the feelings of the aggrieved minority/woman/social flavor of the month supersede reality.

That said, I imagine he will next try to tell us that nursing homes overcounted COVID deaths because of something else we knew all along…that COVID cases have been overcounted in MANY ways.

Cuomo virtue-signalled by signing an un-American law saying that the offender’s intent doesn’t matter.
Now he won’t hold himself to that standard.
    Virtue signalling has consequences, Mario.
Or, at least it should (it probably won’t).

The law concerns acts. In this case, petty slights or trivial inconveniences are not covered by the law.

It’s good to be king. Until reality sets in. Then again, Leftists and reality are complete strangers.

Looks like it’s time for Cuomo to order that train tunnel decal from ACME…. and not the one that with the train coming from the other direction.

It makes me uncomfortable just hearing him speak. he is a total jackass. Come on NY. You can do better.

Andy, you should take the annual mandatory training you make all state employees take. It disagrees with your assertion.

You’ve got to be able to say it’s a stupid law. So much the better if a democrat says it.

My observation, at least in STEM fields, is that the women promptly organize a Women’s Workplace Issues committee as something more interesting to them. Feeling uncomfortable is a way of life.

And besides says Good Ol Boy Andy—“them there women really liked it. They wuz hot for my bod.” What a jerkmeat. At least no one has proved that he was Client No. 9 reincarnated. As of yet that is.

What? Holy crap.

The guy is a public figure, he holds elected office. He can’t be totally kept out of public. Damn though, his Attorneys have to be doing shots after seeing this.

Make anodyne statements in response to these sort of questions. Don’t start running off at the mouth trying to ‘win’ your case or prove your accusers wrong at a flipping press conference.

Sexual harassment isn’t that difficult to understand. If you touch someone and they didn’t invite that or if you make some remark that someone finds unwelcome then that’s it. Doesn’t matter what you thought you were doing, all that matters is the perception of the offended person.

Keep your hands to yourself. Don’t be touchy feely. Don’t make any remarks at work or at work events that don’t pertain to work. Don’t s83$ where you eat.

Governor Party Tits doesn’t understand that he is aging out, as shown by the way he is creeping out (much) younger women.

In my opinion, this is what happened to Bob Packwood, and Bob Filner, too.

When the women stop throwing themselves at you, it’s never a good idea to get more heavy-handed.

I don’t care.

I hope he digs his heels in and does not do what the NY Dems want him to do.

Let this dope continue to open his big, fat mouth and spew his arrogant stupidity. Cuomo’s career is finished. The hypocrite Dhimmi-crats can find a new savior in New York.
