Viewership for Biden’s SOTU Way Down From All Four of Trump’s Addresses

Viewership for Biden’s SOTU Way Down From All Four of Trump’s Addresses

Biden’s numbers were “down from then-President Trump’s first address to Congress on Feb. 28, 2017, which was watched by 47.7 million on 8 Nielsen-measured broadcast and cable networks, according to Nielsen.”

President Joe Biden gave his first address to a joint session of Congress Wednesday night. But, as expected, he filled it with hollow “unity” rhetoric, promises of an even bigger federal government, higher taxes, stifling regulations, and pretty much everything you’d expect from a President whose strings are being pulled by the radical left.

But despite all the pre-speech hype from the mainstream media that suggested the American people were eagerly anticipating what Biden had to say, the viewership data show Biden’s numbers were way down from the four done during former President Trump’s time in office:

Nielsen now reports that an estimated 26.9 million people tuned in to watch President Biden’s inaugural address to a Joint Session of Congress. While coverage varied by network, 16 aired live coverage from approximately 9:00 p.m. ET to 10:15 p.m. ET.

Out of home viewing as well as connected TV viewing are included in the 26.9 million total. Contribution coming from CTVs can be as much as 11% for televised political events.

As expected, that total is down from then-President Trump’s first address to Congress on Feb. 28, 2017 , which was watched by 47.7 million on 8 Nielsen-measured broadcast and cable networks, according to Nielsen.

Trump’s viewership numbers for his four State of the Union addresses were as follows: 47.74 million in 2017, 45.6 million in 2018, 46.8 million in 2019, and 37.2 million in 2020.

To add on more embarrassment for the Biden administration, as he was headed to Georgia today to promote his trillions-of-dollars COVID “relief” plan, MSNBC’s Priscilla Thompson reported that most people she’d spoken within the state did not even watch the speech:

“I’ve got to tell you, most of the folks that I’ve spoken to here did not actually watch Joe Biden’s address last night,” correspondent Priscilla Thompson revealed while reporting from Atlanta, Georgia during the left-wing cable channel’s 10:00 a.m. ET hour. She added: “I’ve spoken to around a dozen folks and only two of them watched and listened to what he had to say last night.”

NBC News/MSNBC correspondent Ellison Barber, who was reporting from Florida during the same segment, had much the same story to tell:

“Yeah, we’re seeing some of what Priscilla touched on there, about two-thirds of the people who we have tried to talk to here said they did not watch the President’s address. Not necessarily because they were boycotting it or intentionally not watching it, they just went to bed. They had to work, they had other things. This wasn’t top of their to-do list.”

With all of that in mind, you might be interested (and amused) to find out that a much-touted CBS News poll that showed “85% of Americans” approved of Joe Biden’s speech was heavily skewed towards Democrats:

The poll was tilted heavily in favor of Democrats, CBS noted, with 54 percent of CBS viewers in the poll identifying themselves as such compared to just 18 percent who said they were Republicans and 25 percent who said they were independents.

To say the least.

Wait until 4AM when the networks will announce that they suddenly “found” tens of millions of previously unaccounted for viewers.

What the ratings don’t show is that most of the people who tuned in to Biden were the worshipful media. The rest just wanted to point and laugh.

Most of the SETS tuned in were at airports, hotel lobbies, restaurants, and other venues who think people will fall to the floor, writhing spasmodically, and barfing green fluid if we are away from a screen for more than 15 minutes.

    I believe it’s the reverse.

CBS was criticized for their after speech polling. They only asked 139 Republicans their opinion of the Biden’s address. Now we find out that only 139 Republicans actually watched the speech.

Even Depends cannot help Biden.

“Flatline” even refers to his TV ratings.

Yes, and this corrupt dunce was ‘elected’.

The bullsh-t never stops with this group, nonstop, 24/7.

You’ve really got to have strong determination to sit all the way through a Biden speech. And strong coffee helps also. Even reading the transcript is a challenge.

But I am somewhat surprised that the press is even reporting this; I expected it would be that the lack of audience would be that proverbial tree-in-the-forest.

The only way to get through a Biden speech is by engaging in drinking games.

The Joseph Goebbels media is already advancing two excuses that tend to contradict each other:

    1. Biden* actually had huge numbers. The seemingly low numbers do not reflect the gigantic presence of streaming, which is difficult to measure.

    2. Biden* represents a “return to normalcy”. Since normal is boring, the numbers are lower.

On the good ship Election Coup, the “big guy” is just along for the ride. Who knows, he might finally earn “Hero of the Soviet Union” for his pResidency.

    You insult the Soviet Union!

You’re close. Whatever award the CCP gives. As Mike Lindell has shown, the CCP was a major player (perhaps THE major player) behind the color revolution that installed the unelected Biden-Harris Junta into power.

Since Biden has long been compromised by the CCP, it makes perfect sense for them.

It also illuminates how much of our political, judicial and intelligence personnel are compromised by the CCP – since they’ve aided and abetted the color revolution.

Do you mean nobody wanted to listen to a retarded communist pedophile? I’m SHOCKED, SHOCKED I tell you…

The Marxist are filling Biden’s head with BS about him being as great or greater than FDR. Biden buys all the flattery. They keep him away from the press so that he stays in the Marxist bubble and never hears ANY dissenting views. They make sure he gets only a few hours of time in Oval office and spends most of his time napping and preparing for stupid speeches that no one will listen to (like today’s trip to Georgia). They tell him his poll numbers are awesome. He gets fed a steady diet of bullshit. Susan Rice and Kam Harris have him right where they want him. He is president in name only. A useful idiot for the Marxists. Zero self-awareness.

I suspect that it’s more like he’s still got enough mental acuity – and certainly his wife does – that playing sock puppet for the CCP is the only way to keep him, his wife, his son, his brother and several others out of jail … if not from a firing squad for treason.

“Not necessarily because they were boycotting it or intentionally not watching it, they just went to bed. They had to work, they had other things. This wasn’t top of their to-do list.”

OMG! People had better things to do than watch the newly installed elected president of the United States give his first speech to congress and the world. Not sure what that says about the Biden regime but it certainly can’t be good.

Not my president.

Very few people actually like or support Biden. They just hated Trump enough to vote for the the dude with dementia.

Revised numbers from Dominion Voting Systems, that dropped during the night, show Senile Joe with over 55 Million viewers.

So, Joe wins again.

People watch TV still ? I wonder if it’s the trend away from TV to online streaming. Trumps figures were down relative to predecessors and this continues that trend.

Didn’t see it but heard lots of it on Dennis Prager replay commentary. Lies start to finish.

    mark311 in reply to Skip. | April 30, 2021 at 6:57 am

I really wouldn’t rely on Dennis Prager. Given the quality of his lectures I’d have a healthy dose of salt with that one.

Ahh yes, I’m not 100% sure of the ins and outs but I think it’s a question of how it’s measured. I’m not clear how they add in all services and perhaps most importantly the devices used. In other words I’ve no idea how accurate the numbers are with streamed services. I think there is an attempt to count them though.

Wait a gosh darn minute Ms. Matthews.

How is that possible when very, very recently I saw popularity stats that indicated the Bite Me was way ahead of President Trump, at the same point in their administration?.. something like 54 to 45 (???). Something is rotten in Denmark, or DC.. Bigly.

Q: What’s the difference between our MSM’s reaction to Biden’s speech and ChiCom media reactions to President Xi’s speeches?

A: ChiCom media reactions are a lot more objective and way less adulatory.

I don’t believe President Trumps numbers are only 37 million for 2020

JusticeDelivered | April 30, 2021 at 6:40 pm

The best gauge of Trump’s worth and effectiveness is how vicious Dems are today. And that is why we need to bring him back.

Now that he has had personal experience with Beltway scum, he is in a position to avoid the worst of them.
