Oklahoma House Advances Bill to Ban Critical Race Theory in Classrooms

Oklahoma House Advances Bill to Ban Critical Race Theory in Classrooms

Public schools cannot teach “that individuals, by virtue of race or gender, are inherently racist, sexist or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously.”

The GOP-controlled Oklahoma House passed a bill, 70-19, banning critical race theory (CRT) from public schools, including colleges and universities.

The bill prohibits teachers from teaching students “that individuals, by virtue of race or gender, are inherently racist, sexist or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously.”

The bill says no teacher or administrator can require or weave into a course these concepts:

a. one race or sex is inherently superior to another race or sex,

b. an individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, is inherently racist, sexist or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously,

c. an individual should be discriminated against or receive adverse treatment solely or partly because of his or her race or sex,

d. members of one race or sex cannot and should not attempt to treat others without respect to race or sex,

e. an individual’s moral character is necessarily determined by his or her race or sex,

f. an individual, by virtue of his or her race or sex, bears responsibility for actions committed in the past by other members of the same race or sex,

g. any individual should feel discomfort, guilt, anguish or any other form of psychological distress on account of his or her race or sex, or

h. meritocracy or traits such as a hard work ethic are racist or sexist or were created by members of a particular race to oppress members of another race.

House Minority Leader Rep. Emily Virgin of Norman complained the Republicans continued “their attack on anyone in Oklahoma who might not look, think, love, or act like them.”

Virgin’s district includes the University of Oklahoma, which has “training on gender and sexual diversity.”

Virgin added: “That’s what freshman orientations are about: making it clear that this is an inclusive space and inclusive environment and no one should be made to feel that they don’t belong. To say in this building that we should prohibit that sort of training goes against the very fabric and very idea of higher education.”

I have no idea what Virgin is talking about. The bill is not attacking anyone nor is it racist or sexist.

Teachers cannot teach or imply a person is racist, sexist, or any other -ist because of the color of their skin. This isn’t complicated.

“Students are being taught that because they’re a certain race or sex, they’re inherently superior to others or should feel guilty for something that happened in the past,” stated bill sponsor Rep. Kevin West, a Moore Republican. “We’re trying to set boundaries that we as a state say will not be crossed when we’re teaching these kinds of subjects.”

The bill heads to Gov. Kevin Stitt’s desk.

that Emily Virgin has to blatantly lie about what the bill does is par for the course. The left can’t help but be dishonest on these issues.

Lol

I wonder, if that would be after or before he put a loaded gun into a pregnant woman’s stomach or when he shoved 15 times the lethal does of fentanyl up his a$$

So glad I don’t shop there any more. Enough with the lionizing of a thug who died of an overdose while resisting arrest.

No wonder their packing sucks on the delivery.

Target CEO Brian Cornell says George Floyd ‘could have been one of my Target team members’.

Is that really how Cornell thinks he’s going to attract customers? Telling everyone he’d hire a black criminal thug as an employee? Heck, if that’s the case I’m staying well away from Target® for my safety.

Judging by their advertising and in-store posters, Target’s well… target demographic is blacks. Je thinks he knows what he’s doing.

Critical Race Theory presumes diversity [dogma] (i.e. color judgment), not limited or racism.

So glad to see this bill passing, hope Stitt signs it fast!

And I love this bit: “Virgin added: “That’s what freshman orientations are about: making it clear that this is an inclusive space and inclusive environment and no one should be made to feel that they don’t belong.” Well yeah, that’s exactly what it does E.V.! It’s a PUBLIC university which means people of all races, and skin tones should be made to feel welcome there and that includes whites!

Critical Race Theory is racist ideology period! It’s trying to haul this country back to things we have worked so hard to move away from such as Segregation or making certain parts of the population to feel inferior simply because of who & what they are. It is evil and needs to be rejected and fought back against wherever it shows up.

So glad to see this bill passing, hope Stitt signs it fast!

And then the very day that it is signed into law the liberal lunatic snowflakes go running to the state court seeking an injunction against the law taking effect because it hurt their fee fees. Or some such nonsense. Guaranteed to happen.

Show me someone who can compromise between good and evil, and I’ll show you that that person has no moral compass.

There are more states we have the legislature and governors mansion in.

It is nice to see it advancing in Oklahoma but so far it is my understanding we have two states banning it (Florida by executive order, Idaho by law).

We need to make it every red state and swing state we control, this is a racist ideology which has no place in a place of education.
