FBI Official Tells Senate No One ‘Recovered’ Guns During Capitol Hill Riots

“To my knowledge, we have not recovered any on that day from any other arrests at the scene at this point.”

FBI Assistant Director Jill Sanborn told Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) that no one recovered any guns during the Capitol Hill riots on January 6th.

From The Daily Caller:

“How many firearms were confiscated in the Capitol or on Capitol grounds during that day?” Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson asked Jill Sanborn, the FBI official, during a Senate Homeland Security hearing.

“To my knowledge, we have not recovered any on that day from any other arrests at the scene at this point,” replied Sanborn, who serves as FBI assistant director for counterterrorism.

“I don’t want to speak on behalf of Metro and Capitol police, but, to my knowledge, none,” she added.

Sanborn also said that the shots that killed Ashli Babbit were the only ones fired on that day.

Officials have charged over 300 people in connection to the riots. None of them have a weapons charge against them.

To recap: It was neither armed nor an insurrection, right?

    B-b-but Trump!

Ben Kent in reply to Idonttweet. | March 4, 2021 at 1:27 pm

Insurrection is defined under US Law as “a violent uprising by a group or movement acting for the specific purpose of overthrowing the constituted government and seizing its powers.”

Insurrection as defined by Democrats – A propaganda tool that is useful in justifying a witch hunt and the denial of free speech and of other rights of political opponents.

No firearms. No one murdered by demonstrators. No arson.

By CNN’s definition – this does not even rise to the level of “peaceful protest”

All the Congressional Reps who were rushed by Pelosi into voting for impeachment – look like THE BIGGEST IDIOTS – especially the Republicans. Pelosi FOOLED THEM. Will they fall for her BS again? – of course. Will the media point out the stupidity of the rush to judgment ? Unlikely.

      “No one murdered by demonstrators.”

They’ve assiduously avoided admitting that for a month now, and I see no reason to expect this to change.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to henrybowman. | March 5, 2021 at 12:04 pm

The only person murdered that day was Ashli Babbit and we still don’t know the name of the murderer that was posing as a capital police officer when they pulled the trigger or when this person will be arrested and tried for Ashli Babbit‘s death.

As pelosi or.schumer might ask: “Ok, so what’s your point?”

Two corrupt, treasonous bastards of the highest order. How stupid are voters? This stupid. All that’s missing is a ‘voting machine’ in pelosi’s freezer.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to Idonttweet. | March 4, 2021 at 5:17 pm

It’s not the truth or lack of it. It’s the seriousness of the charge.

Exactly. Accordingly, I hereby accuse Schumer of having buried the bodies of three prostitutes in Prospect Park across the street from his home. My evidence is exactly the same as his evidence for the “insurrection”, the “murder” of Mr. Sicknick, the Russia hoax, or of Trump being a white supremacist, and antisemite, or a homophobe. In other words, none whatsoever.

I saw some of the more-violent idiots brandishing those scary flagsticks. And one may have even been swinging a hockey stick.

That’s about the extent of the “arming”, it seems.

healthguyfsu | March 4, 2021 at 11:15 am

So, basically we have misdemeanor trespassing and vandalism charges trumped up as felonies (BECAUSE THE CAPITOL AND THE FEARFUL OVERLORDS!) then, right?

Paddy M in reply to healthguyfsu. | March 4, 2021 at 11:32 am

You got it. FIB goons are still knocking on the doors of people that did nothing more than attend the rally in DC on 1/6. Meanwhile, Klantifa and Burn Loot Murder get a pass.

Milhouse in reply to healthguyfsu. | March 4, 2021 at 5:29 pm

Well, Mark311 seems to believe that, unlike any property attacked by Democrat “protesters”, the Capitol is a holy temple and attacking it is sacrilege and heresy, and therefore much worse than any other such crime. Especially if it takes place during the sacred and divine ritual of counting the electoral votes, disrupting that ritual for a short time; the gods are angry at such effrontery and will wreak revenge unless they are appeased by the sacrifice of the offenders.

At least that’s the only sense I can make of his position on this.

healthguyfsu | March 4, 2021 at 11:16 am

Also, serious party foul for linking to CNN!

Compare and contrast to your average “Mostly Peaceful” BLM protest over “racial injustice”

Pelosi is in charge of Security .. let Antifa into the Capitol .

Joe Scarborough screams at Capitol Police: You *ing opened the doors for them..

rabid wombat | March 4, 2021 at 11:46 am

A couple of open questions:
– who shot Ashli Babbitt?
– what is Officer Sicknick’s cause of death?
– who planted the bombs outside the Republican and Democratic offices?
– other than John Sullivan, what other “antifa” types have been identified?
– will those charged be given the same leniency as those arrested in Portland, or those charged in fire bombing police cars, or those charged in previous capital riots?
– who refused the National Guards assistance prior to Jan 6 demonstations?

I am not holding my breath for answers

Milhouse in reply to rabid wombat. | March 4, 2021 at 5:31 pm

    – will those charged be given the same leniency as those arrested in Portland, or those charged in fire bombing police cars, or those charged in previous capital riots?

Especially those arrested in the riots of Jan 20, 2016, or at the anti-Kavanaugh riots, all of whom had their charges dropped.

So no guns, no weapons, no spray paint, nothing burned, some barricades knocked over (and rebuilt with razor wire and 10 foot fences), a few windows broken but nothing really damaged, nobody injured (some unrelated heart attacks and seizures at the original rally), no encampments set up or takeovers, and the only shot was from a trigger happy Capital security guard who flunked NRA 101 by having his finger on the trigger while engaging an unarmed unthreatening woman.

WORST TERRORISTS AND WORST RIOT EVER!!!

felixrigidus | March 4, 2021 at 12:04 pm

So the murderous insurrectionist mob brought not a single firearm? The only shots fired were aimed at insurrectionists?

It must really have been a close call. Let’s put Washington D.C. under martial law for the rest of the Union’s existence.

An inconvenient truth of the first order.

Why would Trump supporters bring firearms into Washington DC? That would have been illegal. Like arson, looting, assaulting police officers, and burning cop cars. But I know another group…

MarkSmith in reply to henrybowman. | March 4, 2021 at 3:29 pm

Well I bet there is at least 187 people asking that same question.:

DC’s Murder Rate Reaches Its Highest Number in 15 Years
Last night’s shooting of a one-year-old boy brings the total number of 2020 homicides to 187.

    https://www.washingtonian.com/2020/12/03/dcs-murder-rate-reaches-its-highest-number-in-15-years/

187 people have been killed in DC this year, making the city’s homicide count the highest it’s been since 2005.
    ”’

Today, DC police chief Peter Newsham blamed the rise in violence on an increase in illegal firearms; he had previously attributed the rise to “repeat violent gun offenders being released back into our community.” The New York Times recently reported the pandemic has had adverse effects on programs and infrastructures that focus on violence prevention.

The term “weapon” includes more than guns. Many of the problems were caused by items stolen or taken off of Capitol Police. For example, some people were hitting the Capitol Police on the head with a fire extinguisher. Some Capitol Police shields were used to smash in the windows, etc. There is at least a rumor that the zip ties seen carried by a rioter in the Senate Chamber were taken from inside the Capitol rather than brought in by that person.

The readers of this website are decent thoughtful people and understand that there is more to the story than just guns.

FOAF in reply to lawgrad. | March 4, 2021 at 2:39 pm

“The readers of this website are decent thoughtful people”

Oooh, I am so humbled by your sneering condescension. Exactly what are the chances of an “insurrection” succeeding with fire extinguishers and zip ties but not firearms?

Paddy M in reply to lawgrad. | March 4, 2021 at 2:58 pm

Unsurprisingly, you’re unaware that the “cop killed by fire extinguisher” story was bullshit. Even the NYT retracted it.

Of course, that won’t stop you from repeating it in the future.

“The readers of this website are decent thoughtful people…”

No they’re not – when it comes to leftist fascism. Or fake ass-kissing.

Milhouse in reply to lawgrad. | March 4, 2021 at 5:33 pm

For example, some people were hitting the Capitol Police on the head with a fire extinguisher.

Really? Is there evidence of this? We know Sicknick was not hit in such a fashion (or in any other). So who was?

Ben Kent in reply to lawgrad. | March 4, 2021 at 6:31 pm

Tell that to the main stream media.

They don’t even report this stuff. They leave everyone to suffer under the misguided impression that the rioters murdered some one and that many had firearms.

You tell everyone on this blog to consider the fact that firearms are not the only weapons. Well you cannot take over a country with some zip-ties and a stolen police shield.

I ask you to go back to the NY Times, WaPo and others and ask them to revise their inaccurate stories – and while you at it ask why they printed such falsehoods to start. See what they say. Funny how shoddy journalism always seems to be committed against those who have conservative views.

I’m glad your on this site. All POV is important. Just be realistic that people are being subject to massive propaganda.

Given only 14 people were detained at the capitol it isn’t supprising that those weren’t armed.

    Ah – Schrödinger’s ….. guns.

So since there were no instances of firearms being brandished on camera, all the brandishers must have been careful not to wave their guns around when a camera was pointed at them. Right?

(World’s most photographed and videoed riot ever in the world’s most camera-filled building in the US, and no pictures of such indicates a certain tendency to believe there was an absence of gun-toting right-wing Trump crazies. Sorry, all you drooling leftists who are committed to the Narrative. Go read some more fantasy cranked out by Qanon.)

What’s your point?

3 battions hit the Capital wire and trenches on Jan 6 and not 1 weapon was used, was it a bayonet attack maybe?
Pointy sticks possibly?

Nancy seems to believe flagpoles constitute ‘arms’ for the purpose of her claims. Therefore, expect Stick Control measures to be put into new legislation.

(I shouldn’t be sarcastic this way. They’ll take me serious and do it.)

Wrathchilde | March 4, 2021 at 5:12 pm

Strangely enough, I just heard Debbie Dingel D-MI this morning state that there was gunfire all day on the 6th.

Baldfaced lie.

Ben Kent in reply to Wrathchilde. | March 4, 2021 at 6:33 pm

Lying or incompetent. Take your pick. Either way – she is disqualified to serve. I hope voters finally replace her.

Spotter: Oh, well so far Peter, up to the present moment, I’ve spotted nearly, ooh, nearly one.

Interviewer: Nearly one?

Spotter: Er, call it none.

You keep using the plural “riots” like there was more than one.

Too understand what is happening you have to understand how government bureaucracy works. The most important survival trait in government, is being able to Cover Your A**.

Senior government bureaucrats work, not for the people, but for elected politicians. While doing so, they are asked, or told to support the positions and desires of those elected politicians. When those positions are improper, or outright illegal, then they have to provide cover for themselves.

In the case of the Capitol Insurrection, these senior administrators KNOW it is a political chimera. It is all a mirage, created by the political Establishment. And, it is not a very good one either. So, it will eventually be exposed for what it is.

Given the current conditions in the country, there is a very good chance that the myth will actually trigger a real insurrection. If that happens, these bureaucrats want to be able to say that they did not really mislead the people. CYA.

Russia Collusion, not what it seemed. Temporary travel ban from selected countries, not what it seemed. COVID crisis, not what it seemed. Summer of Burning Love, riots, not what it seemed. Results of the 2020 Presidential Election, not what it seemed. Capitol “insurrection”, not what it seemed. Military investiture of Washington, D.C., not what it seems. Get the picture?

Abraham Lincoln is credited with saying; “You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time. But, you can not fool all of the people all of the time.” What happens when the people wake up and realized just what being fooled has cost them?

Strange that they didn’t confiscate the gun of Babbitt’s shooter or even, so far as we know, interview them. In a regular justifiable homicide case you can expect both, at a minimum, even in DC. You’ll eventually get your gun back (though I’m sure DC will be unreasonably, and likely illegally, slow to do it) if no charges are filed.
