CDC delays announcing that COVID-vaccinated Americans can gather indoors without masks

Meanwhile, Biden slams governors for lifting mask mandates, calling it ‘Neanderthal thinking’

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was planning to announce new guidelines this Thursday on what fully vaccinated Americans can do, including allowing for small gatherings indoors with other vaccinated individuals.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a chief medical adviser for the current administration, had previewed the guidance:

“I use the example of a daughter coming in from out of town who is doubly vaccinated, and a husband and wife doubly vaccinated, and maybe a next door neighbor, who you know are doubly vaccinated,” Dr. Fauci said at a White House COVID-19 Task Force press conference Monday.

“Small gatherings in the home of people, I think you can clearly feel that the risk, the relative risk, is so low that you would not have to wear a mask, that you could have a good social gathering within the home.”

But after a series of phone calls among administration officials after the trial-balloon preview was shared, the agency is now delaying the announcement.

After a series of meetings and calls with senior officials on the White House’s Covid-19 task force and the Department of Health and Human Services over the last two days, the CDC was told to “hold off on releasing” the recommendations, one of those sources said. The reason is still unclear but one senior administration official said the guidelines were still being finalized.

Another official said the CDC had put together the guidelines over the last several weeks and was preparing to go through the final clearance process before the stop was put in place. A new draft of the guidelines was circulated last Friday and then again early this week. Top health officials originally were supposed to sign off on the language Wednesday.

A third senior administration official expected that the guidelines would be released “soon.” A fourth said major guidelines on Covid-19 often go through “rigorous deliberations” in the last few days before their release.

It is interesting to note that after Texas and Mississippi joined the 15 states that have no mask mandates, Biden was so upset by the ever increasing freedoms being allowed that he indicated that governors changing their policies are guilty of Neanderthal thinking.

…Biden on Wednesday slammed states that repealed Covid-19 restrictions on businesses and rescinded mask mandates for residents, calling the moves a “big mistake.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves, both Republicans, announced Tuesday they would allow businesses to reopen at 100% capacity and lift mask mandates. Biden’s remarks were in response to shouted questions from the press specifically about the two states.

“Look, I hope everybody’s realized by now these masks make a difference,” Biden told reporters at the White House. “We are on the cusp of being able to fundamentally change the nature of this disease because of the way in which we’re able to get vaccines in people’s arms. … The last thing, the last thing we need is Neanderthal thinking, that, ‘In the meantime, everything’s fine. Take off your mask. Forget it.’ It still matters.”

Perhaps Neanderthal thinking would be appropriate, as it turns out the genetic material inherited via that species is protective against coronavirus.

People who survive a bout of Covid-19 with mild symptoms or even no symptoms may be able to thank their Neanderthal ancestors, a new study suggests.

Researchers found a genetic mutation that reduces the risk of severe Covid-19 infection by about 22%. It was found in all the samples they took of Neanderthal DNA, and in about 30% of samples from people of European and Asian origin.

The genetic region involved affects the body’s immune response to RNA viruses such as the coronavirus, as well as West Nile virus and hepatitis C virus, the researchers reported Tuesday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

“This region encodes proteins that activate enzymes that are important during infections with RNA viruses,” they wrote.

It may be one of those mutations that has been passed down over the millennia because it helped people survive, Svante Paabo and Hugo Zeberg of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany reported.

It can only be hoped that Biden can achieve a Neanderthal level of reasoning at this point.

I live in the border of Austin amd I can tell you the majority of schools and businesses and continuing to mandate masks

I have and will let them know my feelings

I will not shop at any business that continues this BS

Once the government has said- no masks required- I see a real problem with any business requiring a mask. It is, once GOVERNMENT doesn’t require it, nothing more than a piece of clothing.
A business cannot tell you wear a dress- not can they tell you not to wear one.
A business can’t tell you to wear underwear- of any kind.
A business can say- no bare feet- because that’s what health codes usually say. No bare midriff? I’ve seen that sign- and unless a customer is entering into a food prep areas, it’s likely not enforceable.

Once Dictator Cuomo decide to lessen his unconstitutional restrictions, the assistant manager Karens at Wegmans can go commit sex acts on themselves if they tell me to don one because “corporate policy”.

First day of summer is 20 June. I suggest that if all restrictions aren’t lifted by then- because summer UV, sunlight, and heat are not conducive to virus spread, that every anti-masker just say to hell with it. We already know it’s not about health, it’s about control.

Then Wegmans management may have you expelled from their private property and possibly banned for life (if they chose to do so) for not following their masking policy. You do not have the right to be there as Wegman’s property is not public property. That’s a common misconception that many customers hold. It’s private property that the owners allow the public to enter on good behavior.

It is likely states will need to pass laws prohibiting businesses from denying services to patrons who do not wear masks, or customers will need to abandon these establishments and patronize stores that do not impose such restrictions. Corporate America is woke America.

A bunch of the big national and regional chains, like Home Depot, announced they would maintain mask orders indefinitely even of the government no longer requires them. There is no escape.

“A bunch of the big national and regional chains, like Home Depot, announced they would maintain mask orders indefinitely even of the government no longer requires them. There is no escape”

Do not go there. Buy online. Much better yet, find a small local retailer and give them your business. They can order anything you want. Look online and order via the small business.

Is it less convenient? Yes. But you get the satisfaction of sticking it to the man!

If you do not like big government, you should perhaps consider how you should feel and think about big business.

The current fascism is a conglomeration of government and large/globalist business interests. Break it up by going small and local.

If a small business wants to make you wear a mask, walk in, with a mask, and tell them you want to patronize them, but will not do so if they demand people wear a mask.

We also have a problem in which even though a state government may repeal a mask mandate, towns, cities and counties may maintain them or implement them unless there is a prohibition from doing so at the state level.

We also have a problem in which even though a state government may repeal a mask mandate, towns, cities and counties may maintain them or implement them unless there is a prohibition from doing so at the state level.

Exactly the problem in Florida right now. The counties laugh at state law limiting emergencies to 30 days by declaring a new one every 30 days.

The “private property/business” argument is wearing rather thin. It’s a private business and government can’t mandate, for instance, that armed patrons must be permitted entry. But “private business” went out the window when it came time to close “non-essential” businesses or (as in Washington state) require businesses to enforce a mask mandate on their customers.

In fact, businesses may be “privately owned,” and able to enforce their own rules until government makes a rule or legislation that tells them otherwise. Businesses operate under government-issued licenses that require their adherence to government’s regulations. If government makes a regulation requiring business to allow entry to unmasked (or armed) customers, businesses are bound by their licenses to obey. A licensed business is not “private,” it is a creature created by leave of the state.

One local shop has a sign staying shoes must be worn. Mine were new I shopped elsewhere. /rimshot

It’s private property. I support the right of businesses to declare whatever mask policy they want, or whatever dress code they want (no shirt, no shoes, no service). I’ll grumble about it, and I may choose to shop elsewhere. I’d rather they didn’t go back to forbidding masks on the premises though. I really like walking into a bank, or going through the main gate of the local AFB with my mask firmly in place. Though I will admit to being a little disturbed that they do not ask me to lower my mask long enough to confirm that my face matches my ID card.

Oh, lookie, the dementia patient has an “opinion.” Dr. Jill give it to him?!

It’s all 100% political. No testing of Foreign Nationals at the border?! Puh-lease – don’t you know what on my leg, and tell me it’s raining.

Oh, that’s not political at all, is it?
Yes, Joe, we got your point:
Name-call people who get ahead of you,
Shame them away from their state’s data,
until we become another sheep. And punish
us until morale improves.

Our office has received a dictat from on high that we may only have 25% of our employees in the building at once. Over half of our employees have either had Covid and fully recovered, or have received their full Covid shot series. Therefore, we are required to force at least half of our immune people who are not at risk for getting or sending Covid to work from home.

Crazy times.

When people like Fauxi say this is “the new normal,” that include no implication that this status has anything to do with pandemic response. Idiotic rules like the one you cite are proof that it’s no longer about mitigation efforts against the transmission of a flu (if it ever was). Government has established the authority to require certain types of behavior, and it will enforce its decrees merely because it can, even when not in reply to any particular threat.

So the CDC might re establish the right to assemble?

That is generous of them…

I have been wondering for quite a while what gives the CDC such power.

Ultimately it is the people who safeguard their freedoms. I sadly must conclude Americans, as whole, are no longer interested in that endeavor.

Why would a “vaccinated” person need any restrictions whatsoever unless the “vaccine” doesn’t work?
