There is a full blown crisis happening at the southern border. While Democrats and the media twist themselves in knots insisting that everything is totally different under Biden, the number of unaccompanied children trying to cross the border is skyrocketing.

This is not happening by accident. People clearly believe they have a chance of getting in because of the new administration.

Michelle Hackman reports at the Wall Street Journal:

Arrests of Unaccompanied Immigrant Children at Southern Border Surge

The number of unaccompanied immigrant children arrested for crossing the U.S. southern border illegally is on pace to rise more than 50% in February compared with the previous month, people familiar with the matter said, raising the prospect of a humanitarian crisis there.

About 2,200 children have been illegally crossing the border weekly in February, and the pace is picking up speed as the month progresses, some of the people said. The government is projecting that about 9,000 children will be taken into custody by the end of February.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported taking 5,707 unaccompanied children into custody in January, an 18% rise from the previous month. The growing number of children in custody is beginning to strain the government’s ability to properly house and care for them.

The Biden administration has been seeking to avoid a repeat of the humanitarian border crises in 2014 and 2019 when waves of unaccompanied migrant children and families overwhelmed federal facilities…

When the children can’t be quickly sent to shelters, they remain in the custody of the Border Patrol. Cells in Border Patrol facilities aren’t designed to house children and its agents aren’t trained to care for children.

This is just the beginning. Border officials expect the number to climb to 13,000 in May.

Stef W. Kight reports at Axios:

Scoop: Border officials project 13,000 child migrants in May

A Customs and Border Protection staffer told top administration officials Thursday the agency is projecting a peak of 13,000 unaccompanied children crossing the border in May, sources directly familiar with the discussion told Axios.

Why it matters: That projection would exceed the height of the 2019 crisis, which led to the infamous “kids-in-cages” disaster. It also underscores a rapidly escalating crisis for the Biden administration.

“We’re seeing the highest February numbers than we’ve ever seen in the history of the [Unaccompanied Alien Child] program,” a Department of Health and Human Services official told Axios.

What to watch: The administration is already preparing to quickly expand its network of migrant-child shelters, which have had their capacity sharply reduced because of coronavirus protocols.

It’s amazing to watch these frauds in the Biden administration try to explain why everything is different now.

WHY ARE WE ARRESTING THESE CHILDREN??? These children should be welcomed into the US and immediately sent to live with relatives or friends. And failing that, they should be placed with foster homes or churches. No more arrests of our children just for the “crime” of being children.

    Dear LeftWingNut,

What kind of parent sends minor children on a long dangerous trip in a bid for chain migration. Those patents are nearly as bad as Muslims who strap explosives to children.

Beyond that, everyone of those cretins will cost taxpayers dearly. I do not want to pay for this.

Justice Delivered — (1) You degrade message boards like this when you resort to insults. (2) left wing lock is a term of art which has nothing to do with politics. I would suggest you look it up. (3) I appreciate you might not want your taxes spent on certain things. Feel free to make your voice heard and I’ll do the same. But in the end, remember that government is just a name for things we do together.

Bwahaha . . . “But in the end, remember that government is just a name for things we do together.” Bwahaha! Hilarious! And president is just another way of saying our dearest daddy! Hee!

        LeftWingShit,

Glad I made your day. When the left started canceling people, stealing elections, became Marxists, operating a goon squad, and so on, then you became a an obnoxious pile of …..

Leftists remind me of chicken crap, before composting it kills everything it comes in contact with. I have 55 gallon poly drums which I fill with a mixture leaves and left leaning chicken crap.

After a year of composting it becomes a sweat smelling great fertilizer.

Meanwhile, Marxist lefties become more noxious good for nothings.

I am assuming this guy is larping as a leftie.

Firstly, “children” is an emotionally-laden term. Most of these people are older teenagers, as in 15-year-olds. Or at least they claim to be minors, because how do we know? Admittedly, there was at least one three-year-old who toddled across the border by herself, but that’s rare.

Does the US have some great need for teenagers?

I know people want to be kind. And, here in the US many, if not most, people think of even fifteen-year-olds as helpless children. And most people think of children as extremely precious and assume that everyone in the world thinks the same way. But it isn’t true, or kind.

Many of these minors are shoved across the border as a get-rich-quick-scheme. Their parents hope that they’ll get into the US and then they themselves can come to the US via chain migration. And, if the kid dies, or the chain migration doesn’t work, at least they don’t have to feed the kid. To them, there’s no downside.

The policy you suggest isn’t kind. Just the opposite — it would encourage such child abuse.

How many are you, personally, willing to feed, clothes, house, and otherwise support? Or, are you like the typical leftist who expects the rest of us to pick up the tab for your good ideas?

Trump is not president anymore, you know that right? Before it was understandable that left wingies like yourself would come here crying out, telling us that Trump should be impeached. But now that Biden is trying to fill Trump’s shoes—-haha, that’s pretty funny, “trying to fill Trump’s shoes”—what do you want us to do? You want us to send a letter to Nancy Pelosi for you to have Biden impeached?

By “arrests” I assume you mean future Democrat voters

I wonder how many of these ‘children’ are late teens/early twenties being sent to live with relatives in the US so when the Biden Amnesty kicks in, they can get their green cards and bring in the rest of the family. “Oh, yes. I’ve been living here for the last four years. Now give me that card.”

She just said that Trump admin separated “unaccompanied minors” from their parents (which is immoral) while the Biden admin is not doing that.

So, who exactly are the Biden admin leaving with unaccompanied minors???…ghost parents?

Seems like the only proper course of action is to turn these unaccompanied children over immediately to the Mexican government, unless they have documentation that shows they belong to another country, and then we should send them straight there.

Given the way the Roman Catholic Church supports this sort of thing, I would say drop them at the doorstep of RC churches. If they want them, they can pay to support them.

Emigration reform to mitigate the progress of immigration reform and collateral damage at both ends of the bridge and throughout. That said, social justice anywhere is injustice everywhere.
