Rep. Liz Cheney Gets Primary Challenger After Voting to Impeach Trump

“By announcing her decision to vote for impeachment Representative Cheney denied President Trump due process”

Trump-supporting Republicans are tired of being sold out by members of their own party. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) voted with the Democrats to impeach Trump last week and already has a primary challenger as a result.

Expect more of this.

Evie Fordham reports at FOX News:

Liz Cheney gets 2022 primary challenger after Trump impeachment vote

Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., one of the top Republicans in the House of Representatives, has a primary challenger for the 2022 election after voting to impeach President Donald Trump.

Wyoming state Sen. Anthony Bouchard threw his hat in the ring, according to a statement of candidacy filed Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission. Bouchard has represented District 6 of Wyoming since 2017, according to Ballotpedia.

“I expect Never Trumpers to do this stuff. But Cheney should be run out of town, and back to Virginia for joining the blame game!” Bouchard wrote on Facebook in January after Cheney’s impeachment vote.

Cheney has represented Wyoming’s At-Large Congressional District since 2017.

Tristan Justice of The Federalist notes that Cheney was censured by Republicans in Wyoming and criticized by other House Republicans:

The Republican Party Central Committee of Carbon County, Wyoming, also voted unanimously to censure their at-large representative over her decision to support Trump’s impeachment.

The state Republican Party also condemned the vote, while an online recall petition has drawn more than 36,000 signatures as of this writing.

“By announcing her decision to vote for impeachment Representative Cheney denied President Trump due process; she judged the ‘evidence’ before it was presented and refused to listen to the arguments made,” the Wyoming GOP released in a statement earlier this month.

Several members of the House have called for Cheney’s removal from House leadership, including Montana freshman Rep. Matt Rosendale, Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, and Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, however, has rejected the proposal for a new vote.

It wasn’t always this way. Cheney objected to the Democrats’ first effort to impeach Trump:

The great Ace of Spades has some thoughts on this which I really want to share with you:

Purge her.

They’re joining with the left to brand 75 million Americans Uncharged Terrorists. Every time the neocon liberal Republican establishment people lose a primary contest, they defect to the Democrats to make sure the insurgent loses.

That’s what Liz Cheney did. She doesn’t like the insurgent politics of Trump, so she followed the neocon/Rockefeller Republican pattern of joining with the far left to defeat an internal party rival.

That’s not how coalition politics are supposed to work. How it’s supposed to work is this: We argue amongst each other, we even primary each other. But, within our own coalition, we accept the results of majority rule. If an establishment candidate wins, fine, the insurgents’ supporters support the establishment candidate — reluctantly, of course, but they still support him.

And if the insurgent candidate wins, the establishment is required to accept the will of the majority and support that candidate. Again, reluctantly, but again, they still must support their coalition partners.

As many commenters always — rightly — point out: We’re always accepting the need to put internal party fights aside at the general election, and we always wind up voting for the Shit Sandwich we opposed, based on the promise that if and when our guy ever wins, the Establishment Corporatist Neocons will support our guy.

But this promise is a lie. They never do support our guy.

This is entirely a one-sided “partnership,” where we have endless obligations to the self-declared “elite” and they have none whatsoever to us.

I’m following Hillary’s lead regarding votes….at this point, what difference does it make?
We have seen there is a man behind the curtain.
Can we still say that, or is it a person behind the curtain.

RECALL! Why give her another 2 years?

Mr. LaChance,

The nature of our political system has totally changed. Elections, primary or general, mean nothing as far as consent of the governed. In 2020 the Democrats showed that they can commit vote fraud at any level with absolutely no consequences. Yesterday’s North Korean-style inauguration proved it. They can insert votes into the system through the internet, change votes cast already, insert printed ballots en-masse, and run the counting process without observers while it is technically closed. There is no security to show that the voter is real, alive, or resident in the jurisdiction where the vote is counted. Indeed, having more than 100% of the total voters in a state vote for the Democrat seems to be the Stalinist goal.

In November, they used this system of fraud in key states. They were and are protected by both the GOPe [including Cheney] and the courts that will do anything to keep from an actual examination of the evidence of fraud collected. [q.v. doctrine of laches and/or lack of anyone in the country having standing]. By 2022, assuming we have something called an election, the system of fraud will have been extended to all state and local elections including primaries. We cannot ever vote our way out of this.

What it will take for a member of the GOPe to be elected or re-elected is convincing the regime that they are sufficiently malleable for the regime’s purposes. The Republican Party has absorbed that lesson. Liz Cheney is absolutely safe in office.

What counts is not who votes how. Nor does it matter who counts the votes. What matter is who announces what the official result is, regardless of actual votes.

Cheney knew their would be a shit storm when she said what she said, kudos to her for saying what she thought was right. Seems like the usual vitriol when someone says what’s plain and obvious.

    Milhouse in reply to mark311. | January 21, 2021 at 2:09 pm

What she said was neither plain nor obvious. She had the right to say it, but her constituents are entitled to express their disagreement by voting for someone else in 2022. And her colleagues are entitled to express their disagreement by removing her from their leadership. She no longer represents them.

Florida has rectified their elections and they are pretty honest, quick, and accurate

    No 4am dumps anymore

No Boward country hanging chads any more

I was surprised President Trump only got 51.7%, but he won!

The camel’s head is under the tent: the fact that there are “voting machines” and “voting software” ensures the ruling Junta in our country will merely tweak voting machines to suit their purposes. Sure, we’ll win a little election here and there, but they’ll be allowing that for plausible deniability.

Our nation is gone – it’s over. We live under the rule of Communist China, but most of us don’t know it. This is an exact parallel of the British ceding Hong Kong to the Chinese. We see how that’s working out.

But make no mistake, everyone: the squeeze is happening. We never thought we’d see our elections so blatantly currupted, and with the use of such clownish, malignant front characters.

Prepare for the worst, and learn how to surivive during the coming terror against us by our own government.

Many of us will be jailed, many of us will be killed and many of us will simply surrender. (Message to the people surrendering: you’ll eventually be jailed or killed – after you work as a slave.)

We have to get moving on getting the hell out of the clutches of the ruling Junta that has taken over our country.

    @milhouse

Absolutely that’s their right to do so. No one is denying that. The point I’m making is that he made reasoned decision as are many others in condemning Trump for what he did. I know you personally think he did nothing wrong but the plain facts are hard to argue against he made a lot of inflammatory remarks and led the capitol rioters down the path they went on. A number of them have already said as much. You might disagree but that’s from a position of weakness in terms of argument. Which makes Cheney’s view reasonable and principled.

      Milhouse in reply to mark311. | January 21, 2021 at 4:38 pm

The plain facts are indeed hard to argue against, but you insist on doing so.

“the plain facts are hard to argue against…”

      What a f**king idiot.

The QAnon loons who are claiming that Trump called on them to assault the Capitol also believe that everyone in politics and Hollywood are serial child molesters who bathe in and drink baby blood to stay young. These are delusional freaks, and nothing they say can be taken seriously. Wait . . . Unless you DO take them seriously? Do you agree with them that practically everyone with the slightest amount of political or cultural power is a child-molesting baby blood-bathing pedophile who drinks baby blood? If you believe that, then, yeah, I guess I can see how you would believe their rantings about Trump calling on them to riot at the Capitol. If you don’t believe that, then how can you possibly believe anything else they say?

      Photoman42 in reply to mark311. | January 22, 2021 at 8:36 am

You obviously feel President Trump incited the violence at the Capitol. That feeling exists despite the fact that protesters were in place at the Capitol before his speech. I believe the protesters were incited to enter the building by imbedded leftists in the crowd and by police who opened the barriers and doors. Who knows, government operatives may have been involved too. Wouldn’t surprise me.

Personally, I think a wake-up call to Congress is needed. I doubt the modest incursion did the trick. Congress doesn’t care they don’t represent the views of its citizens. If they did, they would have called out the fraud and dealt with it appropriately. Instead, they certified the fraud.

Oddly, a lot of people in Wyoming have this daft idea that she was elected to the House of Representatives to represent them in Congress. What a bunch of dupes! Obviously, her real job is to grand-stand on her war-mongering neo-con anti-Trump lunacy and do the exact opposite of what those imbeciles who elected her thought they were sending her to Congress to do. /sarc off

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Hope she goes away asap, they kneed to know the people are supposed to be their representatives, not their subjects.

Let’s face it, she was only in Congress based on name recognition, she held her position in the party because of gender.
many in Wyoming have awakened, the repubs in the house gained female seats not because Cheney was some inspiring leader, they were elected into office because they held many of the same views Trump did.
As more and more information comes to light, this riot was planned out in advance, fringe elements of both sides involved, given a communication platform by social media.
Congress can let an issue stew for decades yet it only took a few hours to push this nonsense through the house.

No details about who planned the “storming” of the Capitol is going to come out, the FBI will see to that. Or did you forget who executed the Spygate hoax? Also, the name of the cop who shot Ashli Babbitt has not been released, and likely never will be, in the name of “safety.”

Welcome to the Soviet States of America.

Bucky Barkingham | January 21, 2021 at 2:38 pm

Beware of other “challengers” who will dilute the opposition ballots letting her win with say 37% of the vote. An old political trick.

Justice for Ashli Babbitt!

Well when the time comes, I’ll be happy to send a campaign donatin to her opponent. I sometimes forgive, but I rarely forget.

Kevin McCarthy should also be challenged in the next election. He turned on President Trump very quickly. He supports Cheney.
