Politico Employees, Leftists Whine Because Ben Shapiro Guest Edited the Politico Newsletter

Grow. Up.

In today’s outrage, Ben Shapiro managed to light the internet on fire because he guest-edited the Politico newsletter.

Did any of them actually read the newsletter or did they lose their minds because his name sets off a trigger?

Shapiro can be inflammatory, but that did not appear in the newsletter. He pointed out that conservatives have to live up to a different standard and leftists cannot be hypocrites for some reason. He dived deep into the cancellation of conservatives and platforms since the Capitol Hill riots.

Shapiro also wrote that his own sources said the leftist media and politicians have them worried and therefore opposed impeachment:

Many in the media seem bewildered that House Republicans didn’t unanimously join Democrats in supporting impeachment (looking at you, Playbook readers in the media) — after all, Republicans were in the building when rioters broke through, seeking to do them grievous physical harm. My Republican sources tell me that opposition to impeachment doesn’t spring from generalized sanguinity over Trump’s behavior: I’ve been receiving calls and texts for more than a week from elected Republicans heartsick over what they saw in the Capitol.

Opposition to impeachment comes from a deep and abiding conservative belief that members of the opposing political tribe want their destruction, not simply to punish Trump for his behavior. Republicans believe that Democrats and the overwhelmingly liberal media see impeachment as an attempt to cudgel them collectively by lumping them in with the Capitol rioters thanks to their support for Trump.

Shapiro is absolutely correct. You will see in the next section that this hesitation expands to non-politicians.

Something tells me Shapiro agreed to edit the newsletter because it would cause an outrage. Thus it would prove his point about canceling and silencing conservatives or even brushing off an outlet that dares gives a conservative a voice.

Outrage in Politico Newsroom

I mean, it’s not like Politico hired him.

Editor-in-chief Matt Kaminski said Politico would not apologize…at least for now. I bet he caves.

OH LOOK. Another one of Shapiro’s points was proven during this conference call at Politico. A few sane people had no problem with the decision, but could not voice their opinions because the self-righteous colleagues would belittle them.

I do not know if those who had no problem with Shapiro are conservatives, libertarians, or leftists. Maybe they just agree with free speech and offering all perspectives.

But my goodness. Ben Shapiro, you guys. The staff has never complained about Chris Hayes and Yamiche Alcindor editing Playbook.

Because we all know Hayes and Alcindor have never even hiccuped a lie or stretched the truth.

Outrage on Twitter

Okay, so let’s look at the derangement on Twitter. I had no idea Shapiro is so dangerous and that he has *litrally* inspired a lot of terror attacks around the globe.

Comments

Our adversaries are weak people. Nervous people. Paranoid people. I read an NBC news piece yesterday that some Dems in Congress are afraid their colleagues want to kill them!

Call it Mao Zedong Syndrome. The more power Mao accumulated, the more paranoid and insecure he became. As the ranks of his physical enemies dwindled in one murderous rampage after another, his twisted mind replaced them with imaginary ones.

The Communists who have seized control of this country are following in Mao’s bloody footprints.

The left has always been easy to defeat. Why so few bother to try is beyond me.

I read an NBC news piece yesterday that some Dems in Congress are afraid their colleagues want to kill them!

Which of course is totally insane. Nobody in Congress wants their colleagues killed or anyone dead. But it’s all just a clever media campaign by the democrat party to keep the liberal democrat sheeple ? ? ? whipped up into a frenzy as they implement the final solution to the Conservative problem.

Poor babies. Tissue?

Notice all these tweet authors are bemoaning hate while, you know, spewing hate.

The cry-bullies are upset because they think Shapiro is a racist. I wonder, can anyone point to anything he has ever said or written that is racist? Maybe one of our resident trolls can help me out here.

Question does LI have any thoughts on intellectuals, thoughtful persons or the like on the left (or towards the left) that are worth listening too?

I think it is a stretch to presume that these “people” have minds to lose. We are seeing lots of bots and an ad campaign. Oh, and very well funded.

Here’s an old blast from the past.

https://www.scribd.com/document/337455840/David-Brock-s-Share-Blue-Plan-To-Delegitimize-Trump

Oh, wait, it’s currently applicable.

I read his article it was very thoughtful, its seems stupid to condemn someone for taking the time to cross over and explain there view which was well reasoned. It was hardly hyperbolic. I would thoroughly approve of any intelligent articles being published which break down barriers.

Ponder this for a moment – we’re losing to these people.

For all of the laughter and bemoaning of “crybabies,” has it escaped our notice that the crybabies are firmly in charge of K through college education, corporate management, all the major tech platforms, government bureaucracy, and the mainstream media?

I’m not laughing anymore.

Politico? I read that once. Didn’t think much of it.

Ben Shapiro was never a Trump supporter

    mark311 in reply to gonzotx. | January 15, 2021 at 2:22 pm

And? He is entitled to his view, it’s a free country.

Paul in reply to gonzotx. | January 16, 2021 at 2:34 pm

True, but likewise he was never a Never Trumper.

He used to have a segment in his podcast called “Good Trump, Bad Trump” in which he would highlight things Trump did that he thought were good, and those he thought were bad.

He was definitely not a Trump cheerleader, but he supported his policies when he thought they were good, conservative policies.

There are few people that are as effective as Shapiro in articulating the conservative point of view while taking the fight to the progressives on their own turf.

Question are their any thinkers on the left that LI considers worth listening too?

You seem to be fishing for compliments. Please be advised that you’re not Alan Dershowitz.

Only Professor Jacobson can speak for “LI,” but some I like are Andrew Sullivan (he’s a fantastic writer, even when I disagree, which is often, I appreciate his great talent), Glenn Greenwald, Jonathan Turley, Matt Taibbi, Bjørn Lomborg, maybe some others I can’t think of off the top of my head.

The one thing they all have in common is that they are indeed thinkers, not programmed morons mindlessly parroting leftist lies and propaganda as the rest, and their useful idiot trolls, do.

I have to agree with this list. I don’t like Greenwald. I consider him an anti-American at heart. But he comes by it honestly and his pieces are well thought out and an honest opinion of the world. He’s worth the read, even if I disagree with it most days.

mark311 in reply to Semper Why. | January 16, 2021 at 7:14 am

Uhg, you keep making simple mistakes. Firstly I’m not a troll, so stop treating me as such. Secondly thank you for the list of individuals I’ll explore those I’ve not come across. Thirdly you seem to think I’ve swallowed leftist lies, you’ve yet to disprove any position I’ve taken, so far the only argument you’ve presented to me turned out to be someone who mispresented someone else’s stats without actually understanding what those stats actually ment. So for all your attempted at insulting me as some how ignorant you’ve only managed thus far to show thus far an inability to challenge my positions so instead of insulting me without any reasoned basis perhaps instead engage. Or perhaps if you can’t be bothered provide a source that proves me wrong on specific points (or general ones if you want).

    JDmyrm in reply to mark311. | January 15, 2021 at 5:56 pm

I think you’re missing the point. LI doesn’t need to think any of them are ‘worth listening to’, but I highly doubt they’d clutch their pearls if a left wing author edited a piece on some conservative site.

Well, to be fair, I do think that commenters would freak out if we, as an example, suddenly started posting leftist drivel by some left-wing author spouting “White Fragility” crazy . . . up to and including not just threatening to but actually removing LI from their reading list, etc. That said, this is pretty routine “voting with your feet/wallet” stuff.

What the left does is not that.

They want submission, admissions of wrong-doing ala third world/ISIS/commie hostage videos of the heretic not only disowning their wrong think but promising never to think such wrong thoughts again.

The most frightening thing I’ve read along these lines was from former CIA head John Brennan (because he’s CIA, and he knows how this works better than most): https://thespectator.info/2021/01/10/former-cia-director-john-brennan-calls-for-mao-like-public-humiliation-sessions-for-trump-supporters-before-they-are-accepted-back-into-society/

Because it’s knee-jerk propaganda, instead of “thoughtful” commentary. The troll doesn’t seem to realize that we’re exposed to what the left considers “thoughtful” discourse incessantly, because that’s all the LSM does.

Heh, great point. So true. I have the feeling this is his first troll gig, so I suspect he genuinely doesn’t understand why his simply stating leftist lies and propaganda that he long ago gobbled up without a single question or challenge isn’t enough to sway us. It’s kind of cute and also sad, but mostly, it’s amusing (when it’s not annoying).

Semper Why in reply to Fuzzy Slippers. | January 15, 2021 at 9:08 pm

I think the freak out at LI if that sort of thing were to happen would be bunch of comments saying “This is beneath you” and “This shouldn’t happen again” with a possible element of “I’m leaving and never coming back”.

The freak out at Politico is “How could you risk the violence of this evil man?” and “I demand that people lose their jobs for this”.

Agreed on all points. But let’s not fool ourselves. It’s not unlikely that the tyranny we are facing will force sites like LI to host and give “equal time” to “contrasting views” for “fairness” and “equality.”

We’ve seen it before, of course, since it was already a huge leftist anti-free media push, and it will get worse. Sure, we can get leftists just as leftist as Rubin is Republican, but if we go there . . . be patient if you still want an LI at all. Don’t like a post, don’t read it. The regressive left always fails at captive audiences, and frankly, the cards, right now, are not in our hands. Oooh, LI refused to publish leftist lunacy . . . LI? What’s that? Can’t find it on the web.

This is serious stuff. Let’s not promote chest-pumping stupidity in the face of our challenges, and let’s not be so quick to condemn when we don’t know what pressures are being brought to bear.

Pause. Take a deep breath. Think. We will get through this, together.

These situations always remind me of this cartoon:

Fixed it for him.
