National Guard Sent to Sleep in Parking Garage After Protecting Biden Inauguration

National Guard members called to Washington, DC, to protect Joe Biden’s virtual inauguration this week were sent to sleep in a parking garage.

Photos of guardsmen lying on the cold cement floor spread on social media, sparking outrage.

They were moved into the Capitol once word got out.

From Politico:

‘We feel incredibly betrayed’: Thousands of Guardsmen forced to vacate Capitol

Thousands of National Guardsmen were allowed back into the Capitol Thursday night, hours after U.S. Capitol Police officials ordered them to vacate the facilities, sending them outdoors or to nearby parking garages after two weeks pulling security duty after the deadly riot on Jan. 6.

One unit, which had been resting in the Dirksen Senate Office building, was abruptly told to vacate the facility on Thursday, according to one Guardsman. The group was forced to rest in a nearby parking garage without internet reception, with just one electrical outlet, and one bathroom with two stalls for 5,000 troops, the person said. Temperatures in Washington were in the low 40s by nightfall.

“Yesterday dozens of senators and congressmen walked down our lines taking photos, shaking our hands and thanking us for our service. Within 24 hours, they had no further use for us and banished us to the corner of a parking garage. We feel incredibly betrayed,” the Guardsman said.

This is just sickening:

Just last week, Pelosi and other members of Congress were using these men for photo ops:

Now we get these stunning images:

NC Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn brought them pizza:

Texas Governor Greg Abbot ordered an immediate return of troops to his state:

Do I even need to ask how Democrats and the media would react if this had happened on Trump’s watch?

Sounds to me like Biden and Ho Harris are helping to create new Patriot Party members.

This treatment of the NG is the Biden/Harris version of the Clintons using military personnel to carry trays of orderves* at White House gatherings, or Obama’s use of a Marine as a human umbrella stand.

    * or however the French spell it. French: 26 letters and 125 aren’t pronounced.

Gov. Abbott, why did you participate in this militaristic travesty by sending Texas troops to D.C. in the first place? It was an anti-Trump show all along. Calling them home now is too little too late. You are so busted.

stevewhitemd in reply to lawdoc. | January 22, 2021 at 9:32 am

Likely because the Texas Guard was ordered to DC by the national command authority. Remember, the Guard doesn’t belong to Texas, it belongs to the Federal government. It’s a creation of the Federal government, authorized and paid for by DC. While the governor can use it for disaster relief and to keep order in a state, one phone call from DC and away it goes.

I don’t think so otherwise Trump would have sent them, NG, into MN, Portland and other places
Abbott could have said, sorry, we need to deal with the boarder

ctgarric in reply to stevewhitemd. | January 22, 2021 at 11:08 am

Not true. State Guards are under the command of the the Governor of that State. The Federal Government can request their support. Generally, the Governor grants whatever support is requested.

One of the first Executive orders issued by Biden takes greater direct control of the National Guard – using CV19 as an excuse.

        This supersedes Governors’ control.

henrybowman in reply to ctgarric. | January 22, 2021 at 2:39 pm

But that request, if it comes, cannot be refused. Perpich v. DOD.

MattMusson in reply to stevewhitemd. | January 22, 2021 at 11:39 am

One of the first Executive orders issued by Biden uses the excuse of CV19 to take greater direct control of the Guard.

      Not exactly accurate.

The NG is a state agency. Under two federal laws, Title 10 and Title 32, the DOJ can assume operational command of any NG unit.

Title 10 is authorized only under wartime and the NG functions as a unit of the military under DOJ command and control. As such, it is subject to all restrictions on the active duty military with regard to civil functions such as la enforcement.

Title 32 is used when the Guard functions in time of national or local emergencies, under federal government control. It retains such civil powers as law enforcement. However, it requires the permission of the state to which the particular Guard unit is assigned in order to be activated under this title.

So, if a Texas NG unit was activated under title 32 and went to DC, it was with the blessing of the governor of Texas.

I have a question. Who authorized the deployment of the NG to Washington DC? I thought only the President of the United States could authorize a deployment of NG in the US.

    Mac45 in reply to Ronbert. | January 22, 2021 at 12:41 pm

The SecDef, reportedly with the concurrence of Pence and Pelosi, authorized the deployment. Trump cleared the way for it by declaring a state of emergency for DC. But, it does not ppear that he had any direct hand in ordering the deployment.

Yes, I am
Disgusted Texas NG were there in the first place!

texansamurai in reply to gonzotx. | January 22, 2021 at 9:45 am

likely abbott could not refuse a lawful order–that said, perhaps he was concerned about the situation getting out of hand with antifa/blm/etc and wanted some texans to be there in that event–in any case, these are citizen/soldiers not regular troops and we now have many eye-witness accounts of the actual events there rather than some spun “media” opinions of what media/junta/progressives “say” happened

fortunately there were no “riots” or incidents created by anitfa/blm/progressive provocateurs

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to texansamurai. | January 22, 2021 at 10:38 am

He should have simply told the Biden regime, or was it the democrat party in Congress, to go to hell and not sent the national guard to DC. Of course, if the governor would have done that then the repercussions would most likely have been serious. The democrat party is not above punishing those that don’t toe their dictatorial line after all is said and done.

Disgusted Texas NG were there in the first place!

I’m disgusted that any NG was there at all. It was so unnecessary and only reinforced the paranoid delusions of the democrats that there is someone out there that wants to kill them.

smalltownoklahoman | January 22, 2021 at 9:27 am

Use & Abuse: the Democrat way!

One big question though: why are they still there? No riots since the 6th and the inauguration is over. Things are calm so there’s no point in keeping them there now right? So what’s the reason Dem’s? Security blanket that you hate but can’t let go of?

Treating the Guard this way demonstrates a clear level of basic contempt for soldiers by the present Biden regime. They’re sending a message: “this is what we think of you.” Soldiers are to do as they’re told and accept what they get.

NYBruin in reply to stevewhitemd. | January 22, 2021 at 9:43 am

They were only there to perpetuate The Narrative of “dangerous, Trump-loving white supremacists were going to overthrow the democratically elected Biden administration”, which was of course nonsense from the very beginning.

The fact that the NY Times, Washington Post, etc. could also publish frightening photos of the Capitol enclosed in razor wire and guarded by humvees on their front pages for multiple days was just a bonus

JusticeDelivered in reply to stevewhitemd. | January 23, 2021 at 12:02 am

I am sure that many in the guard noticed and will take their treatment into account, ready to welcome them to the Patriot’s Party 🙂

One could say that Biden administration treated these guardsmen like “suckers and losers” and have the proof to back it up.

Get used to it. This is what is instore for the rest of us.

Mr Meijer tries to make people forget?

Where are the officers?

I was wondering why the troops were still in DC as well. Guess the ruling class wants them around until the Trump show trial is over. No other reason beyond Potemkin politics.

“Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Schumer—why are American troops who are tasked with keeping security at the Capitol being forced to sleep in a parking lot? They deserve to be treated with respect, and we deserve answers.”

Hey McCarthy – maybe your BFF Liz Cheney can put in a good word with her Communist slave masters. You know – get them to donate a toothbrush they can all use, or maybe even a few water bottles.

Does the fact that we just had a illegitimate ruler installed in the White House behind razor wire and surrounded by 25,000 troops bother you at all, Mr. McCarthy? Or are you troubled in any way about the fact that the new rulers have already begun purging the enlisted ranks of those same troops because of “extremism”? Perhaps the threats to expel and arrest GOP Members of Congress who voted against certifying the Electoral College cause you some unease? Hello? Bueller? Bueller?

C’mon man, this was the Pelosi and Schumer show from start to finish. They called in the Guard to make Americans believe the Capitol was going to be attacked within minutes of the Biden inauguration, and to further the meme of the violent, insurrectionist Trump reporters. After the point was made, no more use for the Guard for the national media photo ops, and the Guard (remember 70%+ supposedly voted for Trump) was sent to the garage. Do we all think there was going really going to be any other outcome but this?

Well, at least they don’t have goose-step parades yet…

PDJT has allowed troops to stay in his hotel… from OANN and Gateway Pundit.

The Nation Guard is under the Command Authority of the Governors and the President. It takes the consent of the Governors, in normal situations, to deploy their units.

President Trump agreed to the Speaker’s request for additional forces in the Capital. The President asked.the Governors to agree to send units to DC. They fall under the control of the Military District of Washington which is nominally run by Sec Defense but ultimately the CiC.

This was a complete over reaction by the more ‘prissy’ members of Congress to the breach of the Capital buildings. They were.scared shitless by that. Maybe justified fear. After all if the folks who breached had actually been able to get hands on to say ‘auntie Maxine’ or Adam Schiff who knows what would have happened.

That said there does appear to be any plan for housing the Guard or an orderly series of flights to send them home. That is inexcusable, IMO. I was taught mission first, people always. Which simply means the mission accomplishment is the first priority but never lose sight of taking care of the Troops who perform the mission. They get fed and housed before any SR NCO or Officer period. The mission commander should always be the last one to eat as an example.

This just shows in another way the contempt that the d/progressive have for non elites like these National Guard Troops. I have been handed crappy mission orders with vauge or non existent support plans and told to ‘figure it out’.

To do so for 25k Troops is flipping crazy. This will be an issue in the future. Folks at home won’t forget this.

“This was a complete over reaction by the more ‘prissy’ members of Congress to the breach of the Capital buildings. They were.scared shitless by that.”

I disagree. I think this was sleazy opportunism by Congressional leaders to whip up hatred and hysteria in order to justify a crackdown on civil liberties. Did these same leaders call for the military when anti-Kavanaugh “protestors” took over a Congressional office building and threatened Members in the Capitol itself a few years ago? And last year when Antifa/BLM used guns to take over control in a part of Seattle (while beating, robbing, and shooting some of the people held hostage there) the city leaders refused the offer of troops to quell the insurrection.

Well sure they used the opportunity to ‘send a message’ that they, Congressional Leaders, are okey doke with ‘rioting’ but not where they work. Only where the common folk live and work.

The message is we, the elite, are afforded the luxury of armed protection and fences. If used by the average Citizen then obviously that person is a ‘gun nut deplorable’.

Walls at our nation border to aid in securing the borders is xenophobic. 12 foot tall fencing topped with Razer wire to protect the DC elite backed by 25K Troops is different. If not for all that those peasants might come back and they are scary deplorable people.

The bottom line, as always is one set of rules for the privileged few and one set for the rest of us.

The sleep in hotels. They were using space in Senate and House office buildings to take breaks, but now that congress is back in session, they’ve been taking their breaks in the garages.

Sorry but this dismissive attitude toward the military isn’t exactly new (though it’s still reprehensible).

“You talk o’ better food for us, an’ schools, an’ fires, an’ all:
We’ll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don’t mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow’s Uniform is not the soldier-man’s disgrace.
For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an` Chuck him out, the brute! ”
But it’s ” Saviour of ‘is country ” when the guns begin to shoot;
An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
An ‘Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool – you bet that Tommy sees!”
— From “Tommy” by Rudyard Kipling, 1892.

Even the most ardent TDS’rs are starting to realize the EPIC, UNIVERSAL, GALACTIC, cluster frack this “biden administration” is. It’s the kind of administration one wakes up to and chews their own arm or leg off to escape. joe is barely hanging on already, less than a week in. Once he’s gone, we get kamela. Even the most loyal dems will want to stab ice picks through their own ear drums to stop listening to her incessant, fingernails on a chalkboard nasal cackling fakeness. Unbelievably, defying all logic and every law of nature, the democrat line of succession after kamela gets even worse. Drunk aunt nancy would be the first to spill out of the clown car, but she would be followed by a cast of characters so bereft of any actual substance, skill, knowledge or ability that she would actually seem reasonable by comparison. Great job democrats, you’re an absolute sh!+ show. An abject failure after less than a week in office, with nowhere to go but down, and everyone knows it.

“Well I’m sick and tired of smart guys.”

“Even the most ardent TDS’rs are starting to realize the EPIC, UNIVERSAL, GALACTIC, cluster frack this “biden administration” is.”

Maybe, although they would perish before admitting it. I just took a peek over at Powerlineblog, and it was rather interesting. One of the NeverTrump geniuses who writes there had a post about how the Biden* administration was already overreaching and alienating supporters, and that Biden* would be below 40% approval in a few months.

That Powerlineblog post was a good illustration about how someone can be both extravagantly credentialed and dumb as a rock. NeverTrumpers truly don’t understand how this Communism stuff works. I’ll be they wondered why disgruntled Chinese simply didn’t vote Mao and his Party out of power.

I got two words for the NG: “Frozen Chosin.”

Can’t they just dig foxholes on the mall?

Only a rabid diversitist would claim that National Guard Lives Matter. #NGLM #BLM(Baby Lives Matter)… #FALM(Fetal-American Lives Matter)

Looks like a typical Dem/neocon deployment of our armed forces.

Swarm the place with soldiers with no plan for withdrawal. And only a half-baked plan for what they should do once there.

If Biden continues to attack our Bill of Rights, then the solution to this problem of quartering soldiers is obvious. Look at what Biden/Harris are doing so far:

The Democrats and their Big Tech allies are attacking free speech in every way they can. They have also reinstated their attacks on the nuns and other religious groups that have objections to the Obamacare rules. There goes the First Amendment’s protections for free speech and freedom of religion.

Biden also says he will destroy the NRA and the Second Amendment’s right to keep and bear arms along with it. So much for the Second.

The Third Amendment involves the quartering of soldiers. If Biden is going to destroy the First and Second Amendments, then why not the Third? I should probably start fixing up my spare bedroom to house Biden’s National Guard soldiers, and possibly his future Diversity Enforcement Guard.

The DC Armory is very large and can house 1000s, if necessary. I understand that they have a lot of cots.

There are conflicting stories about who made the call, from the Military Times,
National Guard Bureau spokesman Wayne Hall said the move was made without the knowledge of lawmakers.

“Our understanding is that the unfortunate request for the National Guard to be relocated was made to the Capitol Police by a couple of staffers, without the knowledge of the Congressional members,” he said in a statement to Military Times. “This morning, all of the break areas used by the National Guard on duty at the Capitol are inside buildings.”

From a Breibart story

A Breibart story today, says it was related directly to a single House member

According to a source, Rep. Will Keating (D-MA) reported to the Capitol building authorities earlier in the day that a National Guardsman was seen in a Dunkin Donuts without a mask on.

After Keating commented out loud that masks were required to be worn at all times in a federal building, the National Guard member responded, “I appreciate my freedom,” according to the source.

National Guard commanders are now looking for the National Guard member, according to the source.

somebody needs to get to the bottom of this

I think that military vote just might boomerang back. It’s not just do you like their personality? It’s “HOW ARE THEY GOING TO TREAT YOU?“.
