Biden to Cancel Keystone XL Pipeline on First Day, Putting Immediate Dent in Relations With Canada

Biden administration: The only science followed is political and the only power it wishes to generate is its own.

Social media and the press is abuzz with the news that Biden plans to scrap the Keystone KL pipeline on his first day in office.

US President-elect Joe Biden is to cancel the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline on his first day in office, North American media report.

The pipeline is projected to carry oil nearly 1,200 miles (1,900km) from the Canadian province of Alberta down to Nebraska, to join an existing pipeline.

Environmentalists and Native American groups have fought the project for more than a decade.

Work had been halted but restarted in 2019 under President Donald Trump.

Mr Trump overturned a decision by his predecessor, Barack Obama, who vetoed a bill approving construction in 2015.

If Biden continues as he means to go on, expect the loss of American energy independence and good-paying, technical jobs. But it is a policy priority if the progressive elites can feel good about themselves, and the deplorables who voted for Trump get punished.

Meanwhile, Montana’s representatives were poised for just such a move.

Montana has the longest pipeline segment of any state along Keystone XL’s 1,200-mile route from Alberta to Gulf Coast refineries. The pipeline is intended to transport up to 830,000 barrels of crude daily.

U.S. Sen. Steve Daines, on news of the Biden transaction briefing, released a portion of a letter he’d already penned with other rural-state lawmakers who expected Biden to cancel the Keystone permit.

“Mr. President-elect, during the campaign you challenged America to ‘Build Back Better’ by investing in new infrastructure and energy technologies, creating high-paying blue-collar jobs, and preparing for the energy mix of the future,’” the letter reads. “With these and other commitments, Keystone XL meets that important test. We have to come together to find a way forward, to keep people working, while also creating a new standard for American energy infrastructure.”

And while Canada’s leader is liberal, he also enjoys the taxes brought in from better-paying jobs.

Biden appears to be on course for an early head-to-head with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over the $9 billion Keystone XL project, a controversial Canada-U.S. oil pipeline that has been opposed by progressives, environmentalists and indigenous groups.

Trudeau has long supported the project despite the protests, arguing it will help reduce reliance on foreign oil imports and create new jobs.

…Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. Kirsten Hillman said in a statement to Reuters that Trudeau’s government believes Keystone XL is compatible with both countries’ climate action goals. “There is no better partner for the U.S. on climate action than Canada as we work together for green transition,” Hillman said.

Sadly, I fear this is not the last report on the reversals in business and environmental policies that will happen under an administration in which the only science followed is political and the only power it wishes to generate is its own.

Unsaid is that Burlington Northern Railroad (Warren Buffett is a major investor) will continue to carry the oil south to be refined. Very profitable for him, (I guess the bribes worked). There was a huge oil spill a while back when one of the trains derailed but I guess the green lizard brains have forgotten about that.

Campaign donors must be rewarded, donchta know. He may run afoul regulations governing granted licenses and their revocation for no grounds whatsoever. What an awesome start – increasing unemployment right off the bat.

Yes, it sure is a good thing the ‘smart set’ will be back in power soon. They’ll repair all the damage Trump did with international relations.

o.O

BIDEN = destroying America is a FEATURE of the progressive left – not a BUG.

Albertans, the deplorables of Canada pay the price of Trudeau’s collusion with Biden; corrupt governments all.

Biden is a purchased puppet of China. Ask why China wants whatever is done under “China Joe”.

Has there been a day he didn’t prove how incompetent he is?

Didn’t the Supreme Court rule that a President couldn’t overturn his predecessor’s Executive Orders, if people were relying on those previous orders?

Seems like that precedent should apply here.

I bet once more grease is applied to Biden Syndicate palms, all will be well.

“Biden cancels…”
Should read, “Biden’s handlers cancel.” Biden is one bubble off plumb. He doesn’t know what he had for breakfast.

Sure he does, it’s right there on the front of his bib. All he has to do is look.

Biden is one bubble off plumb.

He’s also a sandwich shy of a picnic. An olive shy of a Martini. A potsticker shy of Dimsum…

Harris is now ne neuron away from the presidency.

Biden just gave his “farewell” speech in Delaware saying that when he dies “Delaware” will be stamped on his heart. Joe can’t even mimic well Lincoln’s farewell speech in Springfield 1860. You know..”Lincoln”.. who was portrayed in Illinois as “Democrat” but now cancelled for not doing enough for Blacks.

At least Biden’s Inaugural speech will probably be pretaped and we can avoid watching his meds fade in real time. Rome on the Potomac has a new caesar.

I assume that’s the real reason why they’re doing a virtual inauguration. Not just the speech but the swearing in, and everything else, pretaped. Possibly cobbled together from multiple taping attempts. I would look for telltale signs of that.

Impeach Biden 1st day and start a new party to replace the RINOS. Primarying RINOS will fail. They just run a few shill candidates to split the vote. Only a new party will get rid of them.

Dont worry Pennsylvania, Bidens new energy policies are coming for you too. In your case you fucking deserve every once of Democrat Mann Made Global Warming energy policy coming your way.

“Cancel” cuts two ways.

Just ask FoxNews.

Now add Kohl’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Wayfair to the growing list of those to be shunned, since they will no longer carry My Pillows because Mike Lindell dared to exercise his right to free speech and question the integrity of the “election.”

74 Million Americans have a huge voice.

Let the boycotts begin.

Happy Installation Day tomorrow. Any plans?

Wonder if Biden and Harris will get through their oaths of office with a straight face. I won’t be watching to find out.

At least Chief Injustice Benedict Roberts should be happy, after all his hard work to help them get there.

Allow me to correct the headline” “Biden Raises Unemployment and Gas Prices on Day One!”

The solution to this problem is so obvious I’m not sure why no one has mentioned it……

TransCandana hires Hunter Biden to be a Pipeline Consultant…
Pay him a Gazillion bucks a month,(minus 10% for the Big Guy)
The result….???? No cancellation of the Keystone-XL…!

Hunter has plenty of pipe experience… so he’s a natural…

(I’m being serious…)

Spot on analysis of the problem. But Biden is president tomorrow. So the price has gone up. Not a mere consultant, but equity ownership is required, in addition to the consultancy agreement and board memberships for his family, and, in addition to the 10% for the “big guy,” a long conga-line of young girls to sniff, sit in his lap, and stroke his leg hairs in the pool, which I have been told he likes to swim naked in.

On the other hand, perhaps the Biden’s can be on the board and provide consultation to a certain railroad that hauls oil. I am sure they could offer similar and competing arrangements. Maybe they are in negotiation at this very moment.

Becoming the “Big Guy,” versus being just the “big guy,” opens up a world of opportunity for economic expansion.

And after six decades of public service, we all know he deserves it. To disagree is tantamount to, and perhaps, is indeed, insurrection.

Ben Kent in reply to tgrondo. | January 19, 2021 at 3:04 pm

Does everyone see that BIDEN will obviously PARDON HUNTER as well as his bro PETER as well as Comey, Brennan, Clapper, Peter Strozck, Bruce Ohr et al.

Such Pardons SHUTDOWN these investigations. They protect him, his family and his party.

I tell people about it and they say either: (1) he can’t do it b..c they are not chrged with anything; or, (2) he will have a ‘political price’ to pay.

No. (1) the pardon power is unlimited – Ford pardoned Nixon and no crime had been charged; (2) there is no political price – he already said he will serve only one term. It’s his Last office before he retires.

What PARENT would not pardon their child – if the child was facing multiple felonies? And that’s before knowing that those multiple felonies could implicate you.

Oh, but what about the special counsel – Biden cannot fiire him. > He doesn’t need to. Once he pardons the targets of the investigation – the special counsel is done.

Brave Sir Robbin in reply to Ben Kent. | January 19, 2021 at 3:19 pm

Why would there need to be any pardon? Biden has already looked into it, and his son Hunter did absolutely no wrong. Everything was ethical, or at least legal, but in any case very, very smart, because Hunter is the smartest person the president elect knows.

And anyone who says anything different is either (A) a conspiracy theory whack-a-doodle nut job, or (B) an insurrectionist. In either case, you are also a racist white supremacist, but you already knew that.

Biden energy policies have nothing to do with the environment or domestic politics.

Since the Clinton Administration, Democrat policy has been to hamstring the US energy production industry. Clinton restricted oil drilling and exploration, including oil shale deposits, throughout his tenure as President. While Barack Obama was discouraging fracking in the US, his SecState, Hillary Clinton, was encouraging it around the world. Again, who benefits from that? The question is why? Who benefited from a hamstrung USA? While the list is long, there is one player who has been caught influencing several American high level politicians including a sitting President {Bill Clinton} and Vice President {Joe Biden}. There is a state actor who has close ties to all of the US politicians involved, China.

Too bad the proles can’t vote the Communists out in 2022.

It’s Biden’s plan to ship Canadian oil to China on the first day.

I’m sure China will thank him too, provided they have the facilities to refine heavy bitumen into useful products.

Railroads have been touting the environmental benefits of shipping by rail, and shippers have been converting some freight from the highway to rail as one way to reduce their carbon footprints.
