Outgoing Diplomat Admits Lying to President Trump About American Troop Numbers in Syria

“We were always playing shell games to not make clear to our leadership how many troops we had there”

James Jeffrey is the outgoing United States envoy in Syria. During a recent interview, he rather candidly admitted lying to President Trump about the number of American troops that have been kept in Syria, contrary to Trump’s orders.

Jeffrey was appointed to other diplomatic positions under Presidents Bush and Obama. He is part of the permanent, unelected leadership class in Washington, DC.

Jeffrey was also a never-Trumper in 2016 and now gives advice to Joe Biden.

Do you remember when Democrats and people in media would scoff at Trump’s mere mention of the Deep State? It’s difficult to imagine a better real life example than James Jeffrey.

Katie Bo Williams of Defense One has the story:

Outgoing Syria Envoy Admits Hiding US Troop Numbers; Praises Trump’s Mideast Record

Four years after signing the now-infamous “Never Trump” letter condemning then-presidential candidate Donald Trump as a danger to America, retiring diplomat Jim Jeffrey is recommending that the incoming Biden administration stick with Trump’s foreign policy in the Middle East.

But even as he praises the president’s support of what he describes as a successful “realpolitik” approach to the region, he acknowledges that his team routinely misled senior leaders about troop levels in Syria.

“We were always playing shell games to not make clear to our leadership how many troops we had there,” Jeffrey said in an interview. The actual number of troops in northeast Syria is “a lot more than” the roughly two hundred troops Trump initially agreed to leave there in 2019.

Jeffrey goes on to praise the work Trump has done throughout the region, and that’s nice, but it doesn’t change the part about deliberately lying to the President of the United States and then casually dropping that in an interview. And why does Jeffrey even feel comfortable saying this? Could it be because he knows the media won’t come after him for it?

Does everyone recall Democrats and the media calling Trump a threat to our norms and democracy? What do they call this? I’ll give you one example. Here’s Liz Sly of the Washington Post. Note the crying/laughing emojis:

Get it? It’s funny when people put the lives of American soldiers at risk if it’s done to own Trump.

Aaron Mate spoke to Tucker about this on Friday night:

I’ll leave you with one final question. Does it strike you as odd that Trump keeps trying to bring our troops home while the permanent class in DC keeps trying to prevent him from doing so?

Thank God that this guy will be punished for lying to the President of the United States (as Government employee)… 😉

Is this not unlawful? Can you lie to the Commander in Chief about troop allocations? Can he be prosecuted? Hopefully under the UCMJ.

How is a bureaucrat in the State Dept. [i.e. non-military personnel] going to be prosecuted under the Uniform Code of Military Justice?

      I suppose your right.

henrybowman in reply to OleDirtyBarrister. | November 15, 2020 at 4:42 pm

Which begs the following question: why is a diplomat somehow in charge of reporting to the president how many US troops are in a country instead of… say… the US military leaders?

DaveGinOly in reply to henrybowman. | November 16, 2020 at 11:12 am

More importantly, if the Commander-in-Chief gives orders to draw down troops in Syria, why were the specifics of that order disobeyed and who disobeyed them? Jeffrey was merely the conduit through which the deception was presented to DJT. Did military leaders also lie to the president? Somewhere within this conspiracy (and it was/is a conspiracy – this wasn’t done by a single person) there are people subject to the UCMJ who should be punished for their parts in the deception.

The question is whether military personnel at DOD were in on it and violated the UCMJ.

This clown may have violated other legal strictures.

Does it not speak to how corrupt so much of our government has become that this cockroach feels perfectly comfortable admitting, almost bragging, about what he’s done?

No doubt he will find lucrative employment on the left but they had best be aware that this arrogant wretch thinks he has the right to lie to his boss as he sees fit. At the very least they know they are hiring a liar.

I’d laugh if somebody smashed this smug, lying prick’s face in, like they did to that vile rat Hairy Reed.

These people are despicable and belong in prison, if not hanging from lamp posts.

And if they keep this crap up, they may very well end up there.

I think that this is shocking not because it happened, but because we have gotten to the point that this Adam Henry believes that is entirely safe to admit what he did. And, I suspect, he is correct. The bureaucracy is in charge and no silly little election is ever going to change that. Especially if the the “vote” is for one of their own.

Real life Bourne Conspiracy. I not sure how operations by the military can be justified without civilian oversight. If there is no declaration of war they are there by the authority of the President. But apparently not.

The objectives and targets always came from us. Who’s giving them to him now?

Scary version? He is.

Rule of acquisition 34: War is good for business and the left learned that lesson decades ago.

Tim Pool has been on this story for a few days now, in his YouTube channels “timcast” and “Tim Pool”. Although he’s a left-leaning independent, he voted for Trump in this election, and wants Trump’s legal cases to succeed because of James Jeffrey’s boast. (Calling it an “admission” is too kind.) Tim also applauds Trump’s recent purge of Pentagon officials, and is demanding the arrest of the perpetrators of this blatant insubordination.

This funking fuck needs to be fucked ober and over until he has no fucks left in him!! ??

I cannot begin to put my feelings in to words around how much I detest Democrats, the media and the left (why am i repeating myself) in general

If there is a God Trump will succeed with his court challenges and then there will be time for a reckoning to be delivered with a vengeance.

It’s the Lord’s day so I will temper my comment and keep my real thoughts behind my teeth. All I will write is that God’s pen is striking out a bunch of names from the Book of Life and St. Peter is getting himself a stack of maps to Hell printed up. Because some people are gonna get owed big time.

May the souls of those troops who died when they could have been home cry out to the Lord so that His wrath will not falter on these killers.

It would be nice if before he left office Trump was somehow able to strip this POS of his retirement benefits, bonuses, whatever else he’s earned from the government. As far as courts go, I don’t think he can be tried by the UCMJ as Martin suggested above, he’s a civilian and so was his role so I don’t think that can be applied.
I’m not sure if deliberately misleading the President like that is actually a violation of any laws so I don’t know if any criminal charges can be pressed against him either. Maybe Trump can go after him civilly but that’s as far as this layman can see him being taken to task legally. Outside of the law? Well somebody mentioned another option above and the actions of this jerkwad and some others in DC make that a more attractive option day by day.

Sounds like it is executive order time. Trump is still the President until 21 January. He should make the most of it.

So the Ambassador was lying to the Department of Defense, or was the Department of Defense lying to the President?

The Chiefs of staff were lied to by the Ambassador, Department of Defense or Army, Navy and Marine Corps?

The Army, Navy and Marine Corps were lying to everybody or was everybody lying to everybody else?

Who is the President of the United States?

Bye the way, WordPress is deplatforming the Conservative Tree House effective 2 December 2020.

Better get your ducks in order, Legal Insurrection…

So Democrats think its acceptable for the military to lie to Republican leadership if they don’t like what they tell them to do.

And remember.

These are the SAME JACKASSES that claim Trump is some ‘unique threat to democracy’.

If nothing else, he has at the least acknowledged publicly his participation in a conspiracy to defraud the United States which carries a five year term.

Maybe Durham can get on it.

DaveGinOly in reply to Rabel. | November 16, 2020 at 11:18 am

“Defraud.” That’s an interesting word. Are you suggesting that Jeffrey caused the United States to spend money on activities not lawfully authorized? Because that’s what happened. Every troop more than the 200 authorized by the president costs money to keep on deployment. A lot of money – and over time. This adds up. Was the US defrauded out of this money by those involved in this conspiracy?

Is this a possible angle for a criminal prosecution?

A government job is your ticket to entitlement. How many contracts, how much money can you divert, how wealthy can you become? From the dog catcher to the President (but not President Trump), the public sector has profited at the expense of the citizens of this country. Even if you say I am wrong, take a look at the job protection, the benefits, the wages and the retirement these leeches get. The huge cheating and theft of this election was the only recourse these maggots had to ensure they remain in place and not be prosecuted.

That’s what I came here to say. WordPress is deplatforming conservative treehouse- I’m sure you are next. And Milhouse if you read this, also wanted to let you know you are a dispicable piece of crap.

As a retired military person, I feel strongly that his clown should go to prison. The President is the Commander in Chief, not some petty bureaucrat.

Interesting to note that none of these vile, self-congratulatory, narcissistic subversives and traitors, all of whom no doubt view themselves as alleged “heroes,” managed to subvert vile Obama’s transparently destructive and incompetent foreign policy attitudes/initiatives, e.g., dismissing/trivializing the rise of ISIS; overthrowing Mubarak and Qaddafi in the idiotic and naive “Arab Spring” conceit that created the power vacuum that helped ISIS’s expansion; engaging in the idiotic and vanity-driven Iran capitulation, a total give-away that was farcically termed a “deal.”
