California braces for Thanksgiving power-outages due to green justice policies and wildfires…

…but mostly green justice policies.

Americans in 49 states have extra reason to be thankful this year: They aren’t citizens of California.

As many as 76,000 Southern California customers could spend Thanksgiving without power due to elevated wildfire risk.

Communities from Hemet to Ventura may lose power as part of Edison’s Public Safety Power Shutoff program, intended to keep electrical systems from becoming a source of wildfire ignition, as forecasts call for gusty Santa Ana winds and dry conditions across the Southland.

The National Weather Service said the powerful wind event is expected to begin Thursday and last through Friday evening.

Winds of up to 65 mph could pummel parts of the San Fernando Valley, Santa Monica Mountains, Santa Clarita Valley, San Gabriel Mountains and Malibu, according to meteorologist Ryan Kittell of the National Weather Service in Oxnard.

In part, the move is in response to Southern California Edison’s decision to stick to plans earlier this year, related to wind-speed determinations as to when to shut-off power.

Last month, SCE faced criticism for not immediately enforcing preemptive shutoffs that could have prevented a wildfire that threatened residents as Santa Anas pummeled the Irvine area. Utility officials defended the decision, saying wind speeds in the region did not initially reach the threshold to cut electricity.

Edison later shut off power for about 1,900 customers.

However, depending on the severity of the Santa Ana, millions of Thanksgiving means could be a bit cold this year.

SCE has 5 million customers in the region. Here’s how many could be affected by county if the power is shut off:

  • Los Angeles County: 13,111 customers.
  • Riverside County: 4,422 customers.
  • San Bernardino County: 42,147 customers.
  • Ventura County: 12,380 customers.
  • Kern County: 1,570 customers.

As I have noted before, California’s Santa Ana winds are not new, nor the wet-dry cycles of our climate. The root causes of include green justice policies forbidding the clearing of dry, dead overgrowth and forcing electrical companies to prioritize and fund green projects instead of maintenance and safety enhancements.

Many Californians are now wise to the climate-blame, and are directing the ire at Sacramento.

Hopefully, my power will remain on. It is the first year I will be preparing the main course for our family’s Thankgiving meal. Of course, the way 2020 is going, I am probably doomed.

One year, my mom had Thanksgiving dinner when the oven decided to die that morning. My dad hooked up the BBQ and she used that as a makeshift oven which worked perfectly. So much that when I got married over Thanksgiving weekend and we had a crowd of about 35, it was the second oven. Consider as an option if you do lose power!

I cooked the entire meal on my gas grill

16 pound bird, dressing and even the peach cobbler

Anything you can cook in an oven, I can do on my grill

That photo with the photoshopped sign under it is located right near Primm Nevada. To the right of the picture one will find a huge solar project with thousands of mirrors heating a central boiler for solar energy. It is a bird fryer. It puts out about 11% of the power it was promised to generate.

The irony of that photo for this article is delicious.

“It puts out about 11% of the power it was promised to generate.”

And don’t forget: the ‘boiler’ has to be heated up every morning (or otherwise it wouldn’t be hot enough to get further heated up by the solar mirrors). That’s why they have built a gas power plant right beside the ‘solar power plant’. You can’t make this stuff up…

Google is a co-owner. The facility displaced protected tortoises and some endangered plants. Also, it’s ugly.

I commend Kurt Schlichter’s book “COLLAPSE” [Kelly Turnbull Book 4] to your attention to describe where California is going, and the series to possibly give a best case of where the US is going.

welcome to #Failifornia… we be dumb here.

The first exploding turkey ever recorded in human history.

The West Coastal Elite <1% are the very people Marx targeted. Yet the Left wants to overthrow everyone else but them. The elite aspire to be the Dictatorship of the Proletariat. They can afford to make mistakes at someone else's expense.

Can't dine out in La Jolla? Get on the jet and go somewhere else. Can't find an open supermarket? Have it flown in or some laborer deliver it to the back door. It's good being king.

You. Voted. For. It. For. Decades!!! Choices. Have. Consequences. And. Please. Do. Not. Move. To. Texas. Or. Montana!!!

Liberal playbook: never think past the knee jerk.

So wow, you actually live there huh?
My deepest sympathy Leslie.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Didn’t CA as a whole or was it just LA that mandated no more natural gas appliances in new homes or as replacement for existing homes?

So CA can’t power it’s grid but you can’t choose to utilize natural gas as a consumer. If you hit the dumbest human over the dead with a hammer enough times even that dumbass will eventually figure it out.

The question is when will residents of CA who can’t move figure it out? What will they do when they figure it out?

I believe it was Berkeley that did the natural gas thing. They have been the leaders in stupid shit for decades.

For the uninformed, there is a solid red band along the eastern half of the state, from Mexico to Oregon. The problem is that the population density there is low giving the coastal elites the hammer. Some of us refer to our region as the “gateway to fly-over country”.

The bad news is that the elites have begun to see the error of their ways, but instead of cleaning up their mess, they are moving this way to escape it. We are also moving, however.

We have the same idiocy in San Jose!

These bright and the not so bright ideas must be decided on results, not on desires. I know it’s tough for people who believe that Bruce Jenner is a woman. Reality is.

Only the enviro-mentally ill support fighting global warming the way the progressive fascists plan to. The progressive fascists don’t really care about the environment, their just using it as an excuse to destroy capitalism and impoverish our citizens.
