Airlines Plan COVID-19 ‘Vaccination Passports’ for International Travel

Cruise industry plans on being “docked” for foreseeable future.

The COVID-19 lockdowns have hard hit the travel industry.

Now that vaccinations are completing late-stage trials and plans are being made for their distribution, airlines are now considering implementing ‘vaccination passports’ to jump-start their recovery.

In Australia, the boss of Qantas, the country’s largest airline, said that once a virus vaccine becomes widely available, his carrier will likely require passengers use it before they can travel abroad or land in Australia.

Qantas Chief Executive Alan Joyce said he’s been talking to his counterparts at other airlines around the world about the possibility of a “vaccination passport” for international travelers.

“We are looking at changing our terms and conditions to say for international travelers, that we will ask people to have the vaccination before they get on the aircraft,” Joyce told Australia’s Network Nine television.

He said they were looking at ways to electronically verify that people have the necessary vaccine for their intended destination, a difficult task.

“But certainly for international visitors coming out, and people leaving the country, we think that’s a necessity,” he said.

In fact, the aviation industry is already developing a mobile app for passengers to show COVID-19 vaccinations and coronavirus status before travel.

Global airline lobby IATA is working on a mobile app that will help travelers demonstrate their coronavirus-free status, joining a push to introduce so-called Covid passports as vaccines for the disease near approval.

The Travel Pass will display test results together with proof of inoculation, as well as listing national entry rules and details on the nearest labs, the International Air Transport Association said Monday. The app will also link to an electronic copy of the holder’s passport to prove their identity.

A test program will begin with British Airways parent IAG SA this year before arriving on Apple devices in the first quarter and Android from April, IATA said. Travelers will be able to share their status with border authorities or present a QR code for scanning.

However, it appears the hard-hit cruise industry is docked until 2021 and plans to rely on COVD-testing and social distancing.

Cruise lines are not expected to start sailing in the U.S. again until January 2021 at the earliest, taking away the financial boost of families traveling during the holidays.

For cruise lines to start operations again, they will have to implement new requirements set in place by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Ships will be required to have coronavirus testing on board. The passengers will also be expected to participate in social distancing.

“All ships are going to have an area for quarantining,” said Sinardi. “There will be more medical staff on board, a lot of sanitizing and limits in the elevators.”

With these new requirements planned for cruise lines in the new year, Sinardi hopes to see the industry grow again.

How much longer until the Statue of Liberty is toppled?

Current HIPA rules in the US will make this difficult for a private business in the US to enforce, though these days the law is anything someone says it is.

Next up will be confiscation of your property in certain areas to house those with Covid. It’s being discussed and framed. Oh, don’t worry, they will “compensate” you for your lost property. I’m sure it will work out as well here as it did under the Bolsheviks.

We are losing this country quickly, and if President Trump doesn’t prevail over the election fraud it is finished. No elections will mean a thing if this is allowed to stand.

Expect more lock downs, expect more small business to go under. Expect your neighboring comrades to turn you in for violations of the dictators edicts so you can be “re-educated” or removed from society.

I read these stories, and as a patient just now recovering from a bout of the flu identified by the hospital as Covid 19, I wonder if my immunity will be enough to satisfy them, of if they will insist that I get immunized as well.

Call me paranoid, but if so many of us have become sick with this mutant chinese disease, shouldn’t our immunity be as effective, or even MORE effective, than the immunity conferred by the magic vaccine?

I haven’t yet read where that will be an option…

Medical science is the current target of the left and the chance we will see a peer-reviewed mainstream journal article saying what you have just expressed (and I believe is true) grows smaller every day.

This is probably why you have weak-kneed people at Qantas making this ridiculous statement. People having coronavirus, people who can’t be vaccinated for other reasons, people with an immune response all don’t need this. Additionally they are busy saying today that their HEPA filters and air management techniques make airplane air cleaner than an operating theatre.

It all comes down to the need to panic 24/7 and hide the s***show going on in the background. We may well have herd immunity now, we’ve got some studies showing ‘positive tests’ use amplified techniques that react when a non-viable tiny particle from the active virus is present. Research is rapidly being crafted to prove the message, just like the election.

We’ve got to support scientists with realistic views who aren’t getting funded/published and make sure the citizens know the real story. Where have I heard this before?

Vaccinations required for international travel isn’t new.

The vast majority of countries that do require you to take certain shots are only if you are travelling out and in to rural areas. If you stay in tourist and urban centres then you dont need shots (for the most part).

This is quite a lot different. This is forcing you to take the Chinese Death Kooties shot OR you will not be allowed to travel.

Airlines (as opposed to governments) requiring shots is, though.

I remember getting a yellow fever shot to be able to travel to certain West Africa countries. That was in 1994. There was even a yellow form that you carried with your passport to prove vaccination.

The only difference here is that it is a transportation company which is thinking about requiring the vaccine or antibody testing levels, not a country.

Just curious – if this vaccination documentation requirement gets going, will it extend to other diseases such as measles or TB? Will it be required of all travelers, even illegal ones sneaking between countries? Show your health status or be quarantined for a while.

I’m sure our “Lords and Masters”™ will deem border invasions to be within the protected classes of action which make the actor immune to the WuFlu.

I mean, we all *know* that this is a very smart virus and it knows whether the purpose of your actions is good and Democrat or evil and Republican/Trumpian.

As many others have already pointed out, the manufactured hysteria over the Wuflu is merely a practice run for similar totalitarian measures for “global warming”, gun control, and whatever else the Communists deem to be a crisis.

“It won’t be mandatory,” they said.

You just won’t be able to go anywhere or do anything, that’s all. But it won’t be “mandatory.”

Welcome to Prison Planet.

Mr Michael beat me to it, but I wonder the same thing.

What about those who have a natural immunity to the disease because they have recovered from a Covid-19 infection?

Something that particularly irks me is how, within just a few months of phase 3 enrollment, they are deeming the vaccinations effective, but 9 months after Covid hit our country, and a full year after it was recognized in China, they are still saying, “we don’t know if Covid-19 infection confers immunity.”

B.S. At this point, if they don’t know, it is because they are being willfully ignorant, and not looking for the answer.

Testing to see how long the response is sustained is one of the easiest, and cheapest, research projects I can imagine. Tracking a few thousand patients, to see if and when they get reinfected, is more complicated and expensive, but not prohibitively so.

We do know that antibodies are demonstrable in 90 percent of patients at 6 montha.

We also know that the antibody titers are lower in asymptomatic, or mildly symptomatic, cases. Is this due to higher mumps antibody titers in these patients?

We need to know if there is an indication for immunization of recovered patients, and if so, when it should be administered

Has there ever been a disease where the vaccination induced longer-term immunity than the disease itself?

    nordic_prince in reply to bigskydoc. | November 25, 2020 at 10:42 am

When you realize that the shot has nothing to do with immunization (that’s just the pretext) and everything to do with control, it all starts to make sense.

      LibraryGryffon in reply to nordic_prince. | November 25, 2020 at 5:09 pm

It’s the only thing which can make sense. I’ve asked folks who want us to all wait for the vaccine because only then can things go back to normal who have also shrieked about how we don’t know that anyone who has already had it can’t get it again, how they think a vaccine will work?

I’ve never gotten an answer, but a lot of quickly changed subjects.

FWIW, TicketMaster is engaged in the development of a similar app the output of which will be tied to concert admission tickets. Want to go to your favorite symphony? Be prepared to have your vaccination status encoded on your ticket.

alohahola in reply to Marcus. | November 26, 2020 at 12:36 am

    Concerts?

People will have forgotten what they are by the time this “vaccine” comes out.

Also, for those who remember, the fun and thrill will be gone.

Either we get our world back or we do not.

Of course, crossing our borders illegally has already been issued an exemption. In fact, Biden (with the aid of several RINOs who have already indicated they are open to a deal) has already said he will grant amnesty to all illegals.

HIPPA be damned

I hope that the airline industry, cruise industry, and any other industry requiring proof of vaccination goes under quickly. That goes for restaurants, stores, and the like. I refuse to wear a mask, and refuse to spend my money anywhere a mask is required. I have never taken a cruise, nor have I flown commercial since 2010.

Papers please.

I’m viewing this quite differently than most of the comments so far, and when the Coronavirus vaccine is available here, I plan on being in the line.

Why?
– I have two immune-compromised people living in my house.
– Any Karen who huffs and puffs up to me afterward and screeches about me not having a mask, I can properly dismiss
– Cruise ship tickets next March are *cheap* and I really expect the whole staff to have the shot too.
– One word: Disneyland

Really, the true joy in all of this will be the ability to say “F– off, I’ve had the Trump vaccine.”

the hard-hit cruise industry is docked until 2021
If they were smart, they would sell “Vaccine Cruises” where you get the vaccine and ride the open seas having fun for two weeks.

I guess they really want to go under now.

Might as well repurpose the planes as submarines.

Qantas really expects me to wear a mask for 17 hours flying to Australia? Why bother with this dog and pony show and just close Australia’s borders permanently?

I’m refusing domestic air travel until they come to their senses and drop the mask requirement, I’m not wearing them for hours at a time. I can barely stand them for half an hour at the grocery store.
