Trump breaks off negotiations over stimulus after Pelosi demanded “$2.4 Trillion Dollars to bailout poorly run, high crime, Democrat States, money that is in no way related to COVID-19”
“I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business.”
Since the start of the coronavirus, Nancy Pelosi repeatedly has held monetary relief for businesses and individuals hostage to her demands for non-coronavirus objectives, such as voting changes and bailouts of Democrat states and cities.
That hostage taking delayed the Paycheck Protection Plan twice.
Pelosi has been continuing the strategy, and Trump newly energized after his release from the hospital, just broke off negotiations:
Nancy Pelosi is asking for $2.4 Trillion Dollars to bailout poorly run, high crime, Democrat States, money that is in no way related to COVID-19. We made a very generous offer of $1.6 Trillion Dollars and, as usual, she is not negotiating in good faith. I am rejecting their…
…request, and looking to the future of our Country. I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business. I have asked…
…@senatemajldr Mitch McConnell not to delay, but to instead focus full time on approving my outstanding nominee to the United States Supreme Court, Amy Coney Barrett. Our Economy is doing very well. The Stock Market is at record levels, JOBS and unemployment…
…also coming back in record numbers. We are leading the World in Economic Recovery, and THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

San Fan Nan either do the business of the AMERICAN people not you megadonors and liberal pals or step down.
So, the Speaker isn’t even on speaking terms with the President.
How effective is that strategy?
Historically, congressional democrats are used to getting their own way. They give R presidents just enough to save face and otherwise ratchet up the big government spending as much as they want.
The president talked to THEM, not the other way around.
She has no idea how to work with someone who wants a good deal, not just any deal.
“she has no idea how to work with someone who wants a good deal, not just any deal.”
She has only on negotiating tactic, “my way or the highway” and it has worked over and over as Republicans caved to media pressure. Time someone jammed it down that turkey throat of hers and showed her for the impotent creature she really is.
Good on ya, President Trump
EXACTLY! This is the precise point where Republican President after Republican President would fling up their hands and beg for mercy. I’ve gotten sick and tired of those kinds of Republicans over the years. I like this kind of Republican better.
Hear.
Hear.
Sometimes only victory works.
Roosevelt was not on speaking terms with the Emperor of Japan. He let the United States Navy and Marine Corps do his talking.
I think the U.S. Army Air Forces made a couple of significant statements to the Emperor as well. But by then they were speaking on behalf of President Truman.
After Nagasaki, the emperor made an unprecedented public broadcast on the radio, imploring his people to yield to the Americans.
At the time, many Japanese still considered the emperor to be the human incarnation of a god, and some even bowed down before their radios when he began to speak.
Dems have consistently F-up since Trump was elected. They gleefully drove him far right, and that is paying them huge dividends. Dem cities are crumbling, Dem political hacks have schemed for a long time to force people in the burbs to foot city bills, something people are becoming fed up with. Michigan has been losing lots of people over this, that is not just retirees.
A proper strategy by Trump.
Trump has nothing to loose and everything to gain with this. It bring attention on the Dem and how they are not helping the people that need help ie the voters.
It also puts his name out there. My pol sci days indicated it it is more important to branding with the Name than it does with action.
It would be interesting to know if the average Joe even knows who Nancy or Schumer is. Boy would I love the man on the street interviews now.
IMO, a lot of people on the street know who she is and loathe her. Don’t forget the Dem reps who won in 2018 (lyingly) distanced themselves from her swore to he independent.
Sge thinks she died and was reborn as God’s sister.
re: God’s sister
Rather a facsimile that is common in secular societies: mortal gods and goddesses.
My guess would be more hated than Hillary right now.
The advantage of initiating the divorce when one’s spouse thinks they have the upper hand. Policy is like the deer caught in the headlights.
Bravo Mr. President, bravo.
Two things. First, Pelosi is getting a lot of pressure from her own troops to propose a deal that has a chance of passing and that deal would address Wuhan Flu issues.
Second, there is a very good chance that Republicans will retake the House which will take care of the Pelosi problem. Even if the Dems win, if the Reps gain a lot of seats, there will be no way for Pelosi to retain her Speakership.
I expect she will be begging for a deal soon.
When Pelosi is looking for a way out of this, Trump should very publicly humiliate her.
He just did. Snap!
Not sure Trump recovers from this one. The public loves their bailouts even more than they hate politics.
IMO, trumps instincts on this are correct. The public loathes Pelosi more than they love bailouts.
Exactly. I was listening to talk radio in Austin this afternoon when this news broke. Every caller was incensed — “I need my money and I need it yesterday” was the prevailing theme. People who claimed to be Republicans — and I believe them because the station features conservative hosts during the daytime and early evening — said they won’t vote for Trump unless he drops this.
Sure, leftists NEVER call in to conservative radio stations with the DNC talking points.
/sarc
Are the people called “conservatives” in Austin anything like what D.C. used to call “conservatives” before they became NeverTrumpers?
You were listening to talk radio in *Austin*.
Nuff said.
Conservative Republican. In Austin. Excellent example of an oxymoron there Sparky.
Trump got over 120,000 votes in Travis County four years ago, Sparky. That leaves a pretty big pool to call a conservative radio host. And now Trump is backtracking, and offering $1200 checks and bailout money to the airlines.
Sparky.
Looks like the airline deal won’t happen. Even with our governor’s weak approach to reopening our state economy, Texas is doing well economically and we Texans by and large would much rather work for our money. We certainly don’t want to bail out states that have been bankrupted by their democrat policymakers/rulers.
I fail to understand why anybody in AZ would be thrilled about bailing out CA, NY or Il. They need some budget 101 lessons.
They’re “thrilled” about the prospect of a $1200 check and increased unemployment benefits for a few months. This obsession you have with punishing blue states is a minority opinion, I can assure you.
“Punishing blue states” Are you kidding me. This is about holding blue states accountable for the gross mismanagement of public finances particularly in the crafting of state and local pension plans which promise public sector unions unimaginably generous, and financially unsustainable pension benefits in exchange for votes.
The Pelosi plan is to bail out the pension black holes created by Democrats in IL, CA, NJ, CT, etc.
Not sure about this affecting Trumps chances, although superficially it would appear to. I agree that there should not be pork in this stimulus and I support Trump. In fact, pork should be banned if only for transparency/honesty in government – bills should be able to stand on their own feet and under their own merit.
However, folks do need assistance, even now. In fact I am staring at a strong possibility of losing my job in 4 weeks and this will directly be a result of C19 related shutdowns. So I am disappointed there will be no additional unemployment support.
We are a startup in science and engineering in TN and although we weathered the initial shutdowns well (no PPP taken), the two main industries that support us have been deeply affected (e.g. auto in MI, thanks Whitless!), and we are now struggling. Protracted shutdowns in Dem’rat states knocked us sideways and we adapted to make it work. However, just recently our main investor and majority owner has continued to see a massive drop in revenue, had to respond, and bailed (owing to businesses in shut states not purchasing product).
I hold Dem’rats and their governors responsible for much of this chaos, in addition to the Chinese government. If the Dem’rats really cared about Americans, they would agree and not pad the stimulus package with junk.
However, folks do need assistance, even now.
What makes you think that this assistance would come from any Pelosian plan? She knows where she wants federal money to go, and I’d guess that isn’t to you, or to anyone else who might be guilty of the crimes of productivity or prosperity. She’d want every penny to go the states and cities bankrupted by Democrat greed and incompetence.
I hold Dem’rats and their governors responsible for much of this chaos, in addition to the Chinese government.
I don’t know about the chaos, but the debt they’ve racked up—and will continue to rack up if they remain in office—will grow without limit, until the entire US economy is wasted shoring up failed shithole cities and states.
If the Dem’rats really cared about Americans, they would agree and not pad the stimulus package with junk.
But since they don’t, you won’t be getting any assistance from them no matter what PDJT does.
There’s nothing to recover from, I’m not even sure there’s messaging to fix.
Alt article goes something like this:
Pelosi n House D’s Won’t Talk About Support Bill w/o State Govt Bail-Outs
Trump administration pulls out of non-negotiations w Pelosi n Screaming D’s looking to load (twice the) cash for D-party state govts n constituencies onto ($1.5 trillion) direct support for lockdown-afflicted.
When asked about impact of the delay admin spokesman said:
“We’d like to get checks straight to people being crushed by lockdowns – that’s what we proposed.”
“We don’t need another “stimulous” that becomes a slush fund for connected folks, or another “bail out” that goes to the banks. We need what we proposed: money covering income lost to lockdown, direct to people who lost income from the lockdown. Meanwhile, we’re working to get people out from lockdown, back working n living their lives, so they can support themselves.
“We think supporting people is one thing; feds funding state govts is another; feds pumping funds into insolvent state govts to dole out as they like something else altogether.
“Our support proposal is still on the table. We just pulled out one-way non-conversations about other things… we have better things to do when there’s this much going on.
I think 1.6 trillion is still too much.
We need to stop printing money and taking debt that our children will have to pay.
Paying people more than they make working is insane
Hey Nancy! Chomp on this! The old bag is thinking she’s got more stroke than she actually has. Now I hope the Donald can win in November (or whenever the Dems finally get done counting and cheating) and La Peloooza will face four more years of angst.
The market’s jittery about delaying a stimulus bill, and it’s costing Mrs. McG and me a few bucks for now, but if it gets Barrett confirmed that much sooner and helps Trump and his party win big next month, it’ll be worth it in the long run.
And we’ll get our money back.
same here. Dow/Stock Mkt hit today, but long term? I think a good thing
You people actually think Trump is going to win?
Oh my God, how do you function in daily life?
You life in a dream world.
“Live”, of course. Too shocked at the delusional Trump cultist’s worldview to bother with preview.
How do you function in daily life thinking Flatline will ever be President?
The projection is strong with this one.
These must be more of those Presidential tweets some people are still trying to tell us are dumb.
there is little wonder as to why the congress has such a low approval rating. just pass smaller specific bills to get the job done. there more complicated the bill gets the lower the chance at passage. no time for pork.
Nancy is too stupid and/or drunk to realize that she just gave away her seat as Speaker of the House, the election to Trump and most of congress to the Republican party.
Congress hasn’t written a bill in decades. Every bill they pass comes from K- Street. The last bill written by a member of Congress was somewhere around 1990.
Think of the payoffs Il Duce Pelosi is missing out on if she doesn’t get her way.
There are trillions at stake.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the negotiations between Trump, Schumer, and Pelosi early in Trump’s term. When he would let the press stay and broadcast what they were discussing. Pelosi didn’t like that one bit.
Pelosi cannot handle sunshine so I wish Trump would give her boatloads more of it.
Hopefully the campaign and the administration are prepared to answer the obvious questions and refute the coming avalanche from d and the MSM.
Something along the lines of:
‘Biden at Gettysburg spoke about the importance of bipartisanship. That is a crock. Bipartisan actions by the uni-party swamp is all we’ve had for 30 years. What we need is NON Partisans, like me. People who will set aside their successful career to come to DC and cut through the red tape to get things done for the American people.’
‘We don’t need anymore folks staying in DC for forty five years like Joe, and not getting the problems solved. We don’t need a bunch of lifelong politicians deciding how to enrich themselves by spending taxpayer dollars catering to this or that lobby.’
Pelosi has consistently pursued a negotiating stance depending on the idea that the good is the enemy of the socialist perfect. She has alienated even the ‘moderate’ members of her Party and demonstrated she is willing to abandon the unemployed and small business owners (job creators) in favor of millionaire taxpayers in high tax states, illegal immigrants, and States that welcome and condone rioting, looting, assaults and attacks on the police.
If she ever ran a business or negotiated as a citizen, or played poker outside of politics, or didn’t inherit a political dynasty or marry a millionaire, she would be living on the street.
“She has alienated even the ‘moderate’ members of her Party”
Need proof that such exist. Show your work.
Subotai Bahadur
I don’t want a single cent to come to New Mexico to bail out my state. I want our dumb bitch governor to suffer the full consequences of HER actions.
“No Deal” is one of my favorite colors in the Art of the Deal palette.
I used to be on a negotiating team for Government purchase agents. My God how I often wished that “No Deal” was one of our options.
