U. Vermont Students and Faculty Demand Abolition of Campus Police, Flying of BLM Flag

Apparently, the supposed campus ‘rape culture’ emergency we have been hearing about for years is no longer a problem. It must be over if there’s no need for police.

Profs and students ‘demand’ full ‘abolition’ of campus police, BLM flag to be flown
A student-led initiative at the University of Vermont is calling not only for the university to cut ties with city police, but also to defund and disarm its own campus police.
The letter demanding that the school rid itself of police was written by five students and signed by 50 people, 39 of them being UVM faculty members, according to The Vermont Cynic. This included Vermont City Councilor Jane Stromberg.
“WE DEMAND That The University Of Vermont Campus Police Department Ceases ANY PARTNERSHIPS & FUNDING With The Burlington Police Department IMMEDIATELY,” reads the letter.
The letter goes on to demand that “rescue and social workers” be “paid as first responders” instead of police officers.
“WE DEMAND The Annual $100,000 Paid To The Burlington Police Department From UVM’s Pockets To Cease,” the letter continues.
The group also insists that the school disarm campus police and eventually abolish the department altogether.
“WE DEMAND The Disarmament Of Campus Police. In No Uncertain Terms, No more Firearms, Batons, OC Spray, And Tasers On The University of Vermont Campus,” wrote the group adding, “WE DEMAND The Gradual Abolition Of The University Of Vermont Campus Police Department In Order To Replace Them With A More Equitable System Of Managing Student Situations.”

I say let them create their utopia. Sane people will send their children elsewhere and the University of Vermont, along with many state universities, will continue on the path to destruction. The over-paid, tenured, professors will fade to obscurity and they can give tours of the beautiful buildings and tell our progeny of the once great universities. We are sending our daughter to an online Christian University this fall and she is excited to participate in an environment that promotes Liberty, our Constitution and Love of Country. We think she may learn to write, finally, because the English classes at our State University have been a disaster. Goodbye Leftist Professors; looking forward to leaving you in the past.

BUT, there’s no evidence that BLM and its allies wish to abolish police.
They wish to abolish the police. And then replace them, presumably with some form of “people’s police.”

BTW, the horror of Venezuela’s continued descent seems to be the biggest (and arguably the most important) story that’s receiving little or no coverage in the USA’s press.
I say go ahead and let them do that, but when they return to campus, they have to sign a pledge indicating that they have waived their right to call the police in case of assault, battery, theft of their property or any other crime committed against them on the campus, at a minimum. Make these idiots live by the rules they want to impose on everyone else. They’ll never survive.
Most college student organizations are now jumping on the defund police bandwagon. But I’m surprised how few UVM students have signed this letter. Eleven students (39 other signers were faculty — how surprising) out of a student body of 12,805 undergrqds/grads/med students. That’s 0.0008 percent. The radical contingent at UVM needs to step up their game if they want national street cred. At least get to 1 percent!
Is there a list of the signatories. I perused for 5 minutes but could not find the actual list. I would like to see the names of the faculty who co-signed this (the names of the handful of students who launched this yes, but not the whole list)
