Report: Mail-In Voting Severely Restricted In Most Countries, Contrary to Democrat Demands In U.S.

“If concern about vote fraud with mail-in ballots is delusional, it is a delusion shared by most of the world”

Democrats have been pushing mail-in voting for years, but they have really ramped up their efforts ahead of November’s election.  One of the primary concerns expressed by Republicans up to and including President Trump is the increased threat of voting fraud.

Democrats and their media mouthpieces dismiss this as delusional and paranoid, but as it turns out, concerns about mail-in voting fraud are a paranoid delusion shared by most countries of the world.

Fox News reports:

A new report highlights the restrictive laws most European countries and other developed areas throughout the world have in regards to mail-in voting, contrasting highly permissive U.S. regulations, as the debate over the security of the practice ramps up ahead of the presidential election.

The report, commissioned by the conservative Crime Prevention Research Center and released Monday, examines voting laws in countries in the European Union (EU), non-EU states in Europe and members of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) — an international body consisting largely of developed and free countries throughout Europe, North America, Asia and South America.

The report’s analysis of these countries’ voting laws, specifically on how restrictive their rules are on mail-in ballots, leads the study to conclude that the permissiveness of American laws toward widespread mail-in voting is rather unique in the developed world. It comes as most states in the U.S. have made some changes to loosen their absentee ballot rules, but Republicans in many cases are fighting back in the courts, arguing that such changes open up elections to potential fraud.

“If concern about vote fraud with mail-in ballots is delusional, it is a delusion shared by most of the world,” John Lott, the report’s author, writes.

According to the report, the majority of OECD countries do not allow mail-in voting for voters in the country, while 85% of the countries in the European Union do not permit mail-in voting unless the voter lives abroad or produces valid identification to obtain a mail-in ballot.

Fox News continues:

Among OECD countries besides the United States, the report states that 78% of the countries either do not allow mail-in ballots “for people living in the country” or require a photo ID to get a mail-in ballot. In the EU, 85% of countries either bar mail-in ballots for people not living abroad or require a photo ID for such a ballot, according to the report. And every European country that is not a member of the EU has mail-in policies that fall into that category.

The report cites a number of cases of mail-in fraud that have happened in other countries that it says motivated these changes.

France, a country that does not allow mail-voting except for citizens living abroad, banned general mail voting in 1975 after a spate of fraud, the report says. The U.K., which has somewhat more permissive rules, saw six Labour Party members of the Birmingham City Council found guilty of vote fraud in 2005, according to The Telegraph.

You would think a self-described “Democrat” party would be all about ensuring the whole one citizen-one vote mantra. After all, that is what a democracy is. However, they are anything but. “Vote early and vote often” is their new mantra. And mail in voting ensures the people who run the system can vote as many times as they want.

Win the election or steal it; either way, you’ll come out on top.

The Democrats/Socialists have concluded that a free and fair election is not in their interest. Discord and confusion are their allies. Antifa is their armed wing.

I have said this before ad nauseum, but the voting fraud this November will dwarf anything this country has ever seen.

What harm could thousands of blank ballots delivered to addresses without valid voters possibly do? I mean nobody would possibly fill those out for a particular party or candidate, right? That would be illegal, and we are told over and over that there are so few cases of voter fraud that we should not worry about them.

We’ve had mail-in voting here in WA state for years. I’m sure the Democrats’ absolute control of state and local government is only a coincidence.

If this goes nationwide, get ready for your own Jay Inslees, Patty Murrays, Pramila Jayapals, Jenny Durkans, and Kshama Sawants.

I can only hope the republicans cheat and engage in voter fraud as efficiently as the democrats.

You can view a pdf of the report here.

Uh, no you can’t. All the link you give provides the abstract. And when clicking on either the “Download This Paper” button or “Open PDF in Browser” button leads to a page demanding that you provide an Email address, First and Last name and a password to create an account to download the paper. Sorry, not going to do that.

So any chance theres a copy of the paper online that doesn’t require the above?

    It worked fine for me.

Didn’t say it wouldn’t work. Just that you had to give them personal information and “Create and Account” before you are able to download and read the paper. So no, you can’t really read the article at the link provided. You can only read the Abstract.

I did not do any of those things.

Lucifer Morningstar in reply to Milhouse. | August 11, 2020 at 11:26 am

Nope. When I click on the “Download This Paper” button at the top of the abstract I’m taken to this page:

          https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/Data_Integrity_Notice.cfm?abid=3666259

Which demands my email address, First/Last Name, and a password to “create an account” before being able to download the paper. And leaving the information blank and clicking “Continue and Download” does nothing but display “Required Information” for each field and won’t let you download.

So Please provide the URL that gave you the direct download of the PDF without having to give your personnel information. Thanks.

Oh, and sorry. Didn’t mean to hit the downvote thingy. Was aiming for the reply button and hit it by mistake. Really didn’t mean to do that. Sorry. 🙁

I sincerely apologize. I overlooked that hidden “Download without registratopm” thing at the end of the right hand column. I had to actually scroll the page down to see it.

So you’re correct. You can download the paper without registering for an account. They just hid the link below the fold where it isn’t visible.

I don’t doubt the general truth of the thesis for a moment. It’s obviously true that if you create an open door for fraud, fraudsters will take advantage of it.

But having very quickly skimmed through the introduction I’m disturbed by at least one instance of blatant sloppiness, where the cited source does not support the claim it’s being cited for.

Just a week ago, felony convictions have been successfully brought against four men paying homeless people in Los Angeles for their votes on mail-in ballots. 17

17 Megan Sheets, “Four men have admitted to paying homeless people cash and cigarettes in exchange for forged signatures on ballot petitions and voter registration forms in Los Angeles.,” Daily Mail (UK), July 30, 2020.

The title of the article cited says the defendants paid not for votes, but for signatures on ballot petitions and voter registrations. That is a very different thing, and cannot affect any election result. The victim of these people’s fraud was not the public but whoever was paying them to gather genuine signatures and genuine voter registrations.

I looked up the article itself to see whether it perhaps also covered voting fraud that was not mentioned in the title, and it does not. So for the authors to cite it is either sloppy or dishonest.

I hope the rest of the research is more solid, because it would be a shame to have bad research discrediting what ought to be a rock-solid case.

How can you trust the voting system and those results it generates when the number of mail in ballots sent out significantly outnumber the the number of citizens present?
>
How can you trust the voting system and those results it generates when typically 20% or more of those ballots cast are thrown out for various reasons?
>
How can you trust the voting system and those results it generates when ballots cast/mailed days after election day?
>
How can you trust the voting system and those results it generates when vote harvesting is allowed?
>
How can you trust the voting system and those results it generates when when there exists essentially no chain of custody to ensure the integrity of the vote?
>
If children are being allowed back into schools, if the government claims political protests are safe, if we are told that we can all go back to work (albeit with a few restrictions), if we can safely travel in airplanes and mass transit, if the pandemic is on the decline and will continue to decline until election day in 12 weeks etc., then why is voting considered to be so dangerous that we must not allow it and force everyone to vote by mail?
>
All of these questions can be addressed and answered by the realization that this entire virus pandemic and our response to it has become a political tool of the Left to obtain whatever they want while trying to grab all the power they can.
