Durham Investigation Into Origins of Russia Probe Reportedly Nearing Conclusion

Trump says: “Maybe I should, maybe I shouldn’t, but I do hear it’s breathtaking what they’ve found.”

The Durham investigation has been going on quietly for months now, but may be coming to a close. Democrats and their media allies have worked very hard to discredit Attorney General Barr, who ordered the investigation.

Could this end up being an early October surprise?

Ken Dilanian reports at NBC News:

Trump administration’s probe of the Russia investigation may be nearing conclusion

The investigation ordered by Attorney General William Barr into how the CIA and the FBI looked into the Trump campaign’s connections to Russia’s 2016 election interference operation may be nearing a conclusion, people familiar with it say.

One indication is that the prosecutor in charge, Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham, has asked to interview former CIA Director John Brennan, according to a person familiar with the request. Brennan has agreed to be interviewed, and the details are being worked out, the person said.

Attorney General William Barr told Congress last month that he would not wait until after the election to present Durham’s findings if they are finalized. Barr has made clear he believes Obama administration officials acted wrongfully when they opened a counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign’s dealings with Russians, but the Justice Department’s inspector general found that the investigation was justified and untainted by political bias.

Democrats in Congress and elsewhere say the Barr-Durham investigation smacks of a politically motivated effort to help President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign.

Democrats put the country through hell for three years with their sham Russia investigation. They have no standing to criticize the Durham investigation.

Trump offered a little bit of a preview into the investigation’s findings during a recent phone interview with Lou Dobbs.

Madison Dibble reports at the Washington Examiner:

Trump: John Durham has uncovered ‘breathtaking’ evidence of spying

U.S. Attorney John Durham has uncovered “breathtaking” evidence about “corrupt” origins of the Russia investigation, according to President Trump.

He told Fox Business host Lou Dobbs on Tuesday that he believes that the federal prosecutor is conducting a criminal inquiry into the Russia investigation that will show members of the Obama administration maliciously targeted him and his campaign.

“We caught them spying. Now it’s up to our attorney general. As you know, I wanted them to do it. I didn’t want to get overly involved. Maybe I should, maybe I shouldn’t, but I do hear it’s breathtaking what they’ve found,” Trump said. “That’s all I can say, breathtaking.”

No excitement without an indictment.

Durham has a reputation as being honest and strong.

But he is in Connecticut and the pressure on him, his family and friends has to be enormous. And Connecticut has some of the most vile politicians on earth: Sen. Chris Murphy, Sen. Dick Blumenthal, Congresswoman Rosa DeLorio, et al will say and do anything to block a thorough and legal investigation.

Not holding my breath, but it would be a refreshing difference to see prosecutions of actual crimes and not “process violations” and “perjury traps”.

From what I understand, you interview from the bottom up until you hit your target. If John Brennan tries to lie his way out of the interview, the interviewer can let him go for a while, then pull him up short with “We have several documents and sworn testimony from certain individuals who contradict what you just said under oath. Would you like to change your testimony?”

I’ve said it before, either James Comey presided over the most blatant violation of US law and policy by deciding *on his own* to run a spying operation against a US Presidential candidate, or he was *ordered* to by the President at that time. Either way, it’s the most damaging political scandal since the establishment of this nation.

Not to democrats who solely rely on XiNN, MSNBC, NY Times, LA Times, etc. for their news.

They have no idea this is happening. They still think Trump committed some kind of crime involving the Russians. They can’t tell you what he did, but they will express their outrage at the ghost.

If Barr drops the ball and Trump doesn’t pick it up and shoot, he deserves to lose the election.

It was Obama – the rot at the top.

Exactly right. The famous line in Macbeth is: “Something is rotten in the State of Denmark,” not “Something is rotten is Denmark”.

Rot is best illustrated, the poet knows well, in a dead fish, which, following nature’s rule, always rots from the head down — not from below the neck down, and not from the tail up. From the head and to below — that’s the natural course of events.

Obama headed the American State at the time all the spying started in earnest: the Spring of 2016; and everybody who could and would contribute to the body-rot snapped to the Commander-in-Chief’s order — which was, in effect, “Let’s see how we can wipe him out even before he has the chance to win the office”.

Thus, BHO is the source of the rot; and the VP and National Security Adviser, attached to the Head of State in early-to-mid 2016, enthusiastically joined the putrid, wholly illicit effort — a pernicious cabal — to destroy DJT, prior to the election.

And from afar, the former president further directed similarly putrid and wholly illicit efforts to remove the sitting, legitimately elected president from office.

That’s a disdain for and an attack on us. We are the American People, those who legitimately elected our president, by the Constitution’s, and by all the states’ agreed, express rules.

Prove to me otherwise. Like the numerous scores of a million others, I’m patiently waiting and listening. Period.

The real damage will come when the seditionist conspirators get away with it – as I expect they will.

GatorGuy in reply to snopercod. | August 8, 2020 at 11:41 pm

That would be the end of the American republic, as the Founders envisioned and constructed it, Article by Article, Section by Section — and as Franklin feared would happen if we couldn’t keep it.

Failure to indict the indictable, or failure to convict those indicted, would signal the end. Assuming the collected, grand-jury-validated, and admissible evidence to carry the Government’s burden of proof to a status of being, in each juror’s mind, beyond a reasonable doubt, it would signal a typical jury’s disinterest in the American project, a project based in ordered liberty and equal justice and, consequently, America’s end.

I would love to see BHO and Billary wear orange, but the track record for prosecuting politicians only seems to catch financial wrong doing.. at least for these politicos, the American voting public give them the pink slip in ’16 and hopefully will do again in ’20. However, the administrative state needs to get it good and hard since folks never face the approval / disapproval of the voting public. The only recourse we have is to prosecute the law breakers to the fullest extent of the law and send a signal to the rest of the admin state that if they ever come close to legal lines / break legal lines at the direction of their political masters, they are the ones that will suffer criminal ramifications.

The whole Russian Collusion investigation at the start was politically motivated. There were no crimes behind it.

Motivated by politics or not- the investigation being done by Barr has crimes behind it. Possibly even more serious then the ones Hillary committed that no reasonable prosecutor would prosecute since it seems prosecution is going to happen.

It’s breathtaking and real, which after 16 trimesters of Democrat instigated witch hunts, warlock trials, and protests, is refreshing.

Sorry for the negative vote…fat fingers on the tablet 🙁

Knowing the votes Up or Down are done anonymously, I find the openness of the posters here at L.I. who “clicks the wrong icon”, refreshing for their effort to right their wrong ? with an acknowledgement. L.I. has a special group of readers which is rare to find.

hillary clinton was incensed that obama took 2008 away from her, she used her stint as SoS to rope him into her criminal enterprises. Sh got him emailing on her unsecured server too. She did is so she wouldn’t have had to be his 3rd term as he laid out. She was going to do some serious damage while breaking us up and selling us out like the corporate raiders of the 80’s/90’s. The corruption is deep- foreign aid kickbacks, US technology exchanges (for $$$), arms/intel deals… it has all be coming out slowly but steadily. We’ve come a long way from the “wires tapped” tweet, most Americans are ready.

SpaceInvader | August 7, 2020 at 9:37 pm

No one will go to jail and the prosecution will be dropped after the Democrats cheat by mail and overthrow the country.

    Could very well be.

If that happens, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

amwick in reply to SpaceInvader. | August 8, 2020 at 8:10 am

The issues around voting are real.. What I don’t understand is how the Electoral College can vote in mid DEC if the states’ votes are all messed up, since they actually elect the President. If a candidate cannot get to 270 Electoral Votes, the House chooses the President.

gospace in reply to amwick. | August 8, 2020 at 12:44 pm

A point I’ve been making. If the votes aren’t counted, and the states don’t submit the EVs to Congress, they aren’t counted. Immediately after opening and counting the EVs, the House will select a POTUS. One vote per state- currently 26 R, 23 D, one split evenly.

Put up or shut up you RINO pussies.

It’s a universal truth that the more the GOP establishment tries to hype up ‘reports’ or ‘investigations’, the more likely that there are ZERO consequences for the people involved.

No more ‘reports’ and ‘memos’, no more finger wagging lectures.

Make them face REAL consequences or shut up and go away.

don’t get too excited until a judge has seated a jury, probably not until 2022 if at all

I just scored a really good buy on some microwave popcorn, so let’s get on with it!

OH Deplorable | August 7, 2020 at 10:02 pm

Like every other act in the “Great Washington Soap Opera”, nothing will happen to anyone unless the “Party’s” sanction one of their own to be thrown under the bus.

Is he going to perp march Obama and Hillary? Did he even ask of them, “What did they know and when did they know it?”

That’s how the Dems do it. They use low level flunkies to rat out the top enchiladas. Republicans are happy with low-level flunkies.

“Brennan has agreed to be interviewed, and the details are being worked out, the person said.”

Why is a defendant allowed to set the rules? What details could possibly be “worked out”?

You either tell the truth, or lie under oath.

Nothing to “work out”.

Charlie Brown will never kick the football, and the swamp will always protect its own.

Say, has anybody heard the latest from our friends Grassley and Issa, doggedly pursuing the government criminals behind Fast and Furious? I hear they’re getting real close now!

john durham’s track record is not encouraging. he had previously been involved in investigating the destruction of video tape the CIA made of “enhanced” interrogation methods.
from wiki;
“Attorney General Michael Mukasey announced the appointment of Connecticut federal prosecutor John H. Durham to start a criminal investigation of the destruction of the tapes on January 2, 2008.
On November 8, 2010, Durham closed the investigation without recommending any criminal charges be filed.”
let’s face it, connecticut has never been known as a hotbed of criminal activity.

Getting tired waiting for this hammer to fall, and no doubt going to be disappointed when it does.

caseoftheblues | August 8, 2020 at 6:21 am

Sigh….nothing…absolutely nothing will come of this. Tired of the Kabuki theater. Laws never apply to those in power except if they support Trump and then it’s not even actual laws but corrupt rotten judges who get them.

October is too late. Voting by mail apparently is starting very soon. Better for the thief’s I guess…

Reminds me of the Japanese and their message of warning to Roosevelt… AFTER the bombing at Pearl Harbor…

this is going to be another ‘show trial’ that will go nowhere.

More BS! A report may be issued, but expect no indictments. The DOJ is investigating itself, so we all know what the conclusion will be

PersonofInterests in reply to MarkS. | August 9, 2020 at 11:33 am

That is precisely why the DoJ, FBI, and Intel Agencies must be dissovled. They have proven to be capable of treason and tyranny with impunity and can NEVER BE TRUSTED AGAIN.

Not one of these is identifed in the Constitution as the purview of the Federal Government ergo, their’s is the purview of the States. Indeed, every State has its own Bureau of Investigation and Attorney General. For matters that cross state lines, let the respective State Attorneys General and Bureaus of Investigation collaborate to solve the problem.

DISSOLVE THEM BECAUSE OUR REPUBLIC AND AMERICANS CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE CORRUPT, TREASONIST, AND TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT ENTITIES OPERATING TO HARM US.

The investigation ordered by Attorney General William Barr . . . may be nearing a conclusion, people familiar with it say.

Big deal. I’m not a person familiar with it, but even I can say with full confidence that it may be nearing a conclusion. Or it may be doing any number of other things. Wake me when there’s some imminent danger of something actually happening.

Lucifer Morningstar | August 8, 2020 at 9:39 am

Whatever. The Durham Report will be issued, the usual suspects will be outraged, and then nothing , nobody will be indicted. Certainly nobody will be held accountable for their treasonous criminal behavior. It’ll just be more political yay, yay, yay and will quickly fade into obscurity like every other investigation, hearing, report that has been produced in the last eight years. And the democrats will be laughing all the way to the voting booth knowing they are untouchable and will never be held responsible for their treasonous, criminal behavior

Yup, pretty much nailed it. It’s infuriating and this is why conservatives like myself are so done with the Republicans. Graham, et al, will get on Fox and make a bunch of self righteous proclamations and Nanny Pelosi will say it’s much ado about nothing and we, the people, will be left F’d in the A again. Nothing.Will.Happen.

I wonder if the wait hinges on what happens with Susan Rice.

PersonofInterests | August 8, 2020 at 11:04 am

And we can hardly wait.

But don’t be surprised if it turns out to be just another “Word Salad” to repeat what was already EVIDENCE in the Public Domain and waste of time and money like the IG Report and the Mueller Report.

BECAUSE THE TRUTH IS SO DAMNIING THAT ABOUT EVEYBODY OF TEAM OBAMA BROKE LAWS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS WHO TOOK THE OATH TO ENFORCE LAWS WOULD HAVE TO MOVE FROM DEAD CENTER TO INDICT, ARREST, PROSECUTE, AND CONVICTED EVERYONE. And they are all of the Swamp, by the Swamp, and for the Swamp in Incestuous Washington, “District of Corruption” that they’d have to go after friends, family, and associates. AIN’T GOING TO HAPPEN.

So fold up the Tent of Excuses and put it away. JUST DISSOLVE THE DEPT. OF JUSTICE, FBI, AND INTEL AGENCIES BECAUSE THEY CAN NEVER BE TRUSTED AGAIN. There is NO supervision and NO accountability in Big Government. For reference, watch Gas Bag Lindsey Grahamanest give Sally Yates and Rat Rod Rosenstein a pass for signing fraudulent FISA Court Applicaiton saying that those two wouldn’t have signed them if they knew. Well first, how the hell does he know and second, DOING DUE DILIGNECE WAS THEIR JOB TO KNOW. OTHERWISE, JUST LET JAMES COMEY AND THAT BUNCH SIGN IT THEMSELVES OR USE A RUBBER STAMP WITH A LIKENESS OF THE SIGNATURES OF THE DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL’S SIGNATURE.

And while at it, start making arrangements to treat the Federal Health Cabal with its “Plandemic” and “Vaccines Only Protection Racket” to enrich Dr. “Fauxi” and others who get patent royalites from them WHILE PEOPLE DIE BECAUSE THEY HAVE HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE WITHHELD FROM AMERICANS WHO ARE GETTING SICK AND DYING.

We, the American people, had no idea how corrupt the US Government had become before the election of President Donald J. Trump. We do now!!!

Get ready for the “Hurrumph, this was terrible and as soon as we get all of our ducks in a row, heads will roll,” spin which will result in exactly the same thing as the other “investigations” and reports, nothing. It will be served up for political purposes and we will never see a perp walk, especially of those from positions of power and authority. “My, Queen, the people demand indictments.” “Let them eat reports.”

Oh and haven’t they all been out in front of the cameras about some fucking 60 day rule which starts September 4 about political interference in elections.

Funny how these rules weren’t applied to candidate Trump or any of his fucking people eh.

Fuck them all. Burn it all to the ground ? ? ?

As Ace says, you don’t have a clupl3 year long investigation and NOT have ANY fuckijy people indicted for crimes in that period of time it everyone is going to be allowed to skate off free.

After NBC News reported Thursday that Brennan agreed to do an interview with Durham, signaling that his investigation is nearing its end, a source told NPR that the Obama-era CIA director has been told he is not a target of prosecutors. Instead, this source said, the interview will mainly consist of technical questions.

I console myself by believing that the U.S. justice system is not nearly as bad as the typical corrupt banana-republic. At least, not yet anyways. But they’re working on it. 🙁
